Looking at Fu Ke’s expression, Lan Sheng felt somewhat confident. After all, Fu Ke had already made a move back in the abandoned factory, and she would definitely do it again this time.
However, what angered Fu Ke wasn’t the fact that the people at Radiant Base were eating human flesh.
Perhaps because she had been a zombie for so long, the Fu Ke who had regained her memories was less righteous than the zombie who knew nothing in her previous life.
The apocalypse was a world where the strong preyed on the weak. Humans ate each other to survive, and the difference between them and her being a zombie who didn’t eat people wasn’t that big. They were both eating their own kind, weren’t they?
But Fu Ke liked children, and it was because she heard that the Radiant Base’s food reserves included not only men and women, but also children, that made her uncomfortable.
“Radiant Base,” Fu Ke’s eyes narrowed, “Perhaps, this really is a very good place.”
Lan Sheng’s eyes lit up.
After finishing their meal, Fu Ke took out a truck from her spatial storage, shocking the Lan Zhi team. Wei Yu couldn’t help but tug at Lin Lizhong, “Is this a spatial ability?”
Besides a spatial ability, there shouldn’t be any other superpower that could produce things out of thin air. And it was such a big truck.
“Want to know?” The skinny man appeared silently behind Wei Yu, startling Wei Yu into taking several steps back.
Lin Lizhong frowned, blocking Wei Yu’s path, and said in a less-than-friendly tone, “He’s just curious, he means no harm.”
“I know, I just wanted to remind the kid that curiosity not only killed the cat, but it can kill people too,” the skinny man said to Lin Lizhong, squinting his eyes.
“You!” Lin Lizhong immediately became furious.
“Skinny.” Fu Ke walked over, glanced at Lin Lizhong and Wei Yu indifferently, and said, “Taking the car out in front of you, I’m not afraid to let you know, but anyone who wants to take something from me should first consider whether they can survive and succeed.”
Lin Lizhong gritted his teeth: “Wei Yu is just curious, he doesn’t have his eye on your things!”
Wei Yu looked at the skinny man, not daring to say a word, hiding behind Lin Lizhong, regretting that he had spoken up.
“I know, so this is just a reminder.” Fu Ke smiled. “Skinny, drive.”
Twenty people in one large truck— it was more than enough room, it was even a little empty. But Fu Ke insisted on bringing Lan Zhi, Xiao Hei, Lin Yiyi, and the other zombies along.
The people in the truck nervously watched the zombies opposite them, feeling utterly unsafe and too afraid to attack.
Xiao Hei’s bloodshot eyes glanced at the humans in the back, sniffing the air as if indifferent. It immediately pulled out a crystal core and started crunching away.
Lan Zhi distributed crystal cores to the other zombies, who, though drooling over the humans, could only reluctantly gnaw on the cores.
Radiant Base.
“Something’s wrong! Something’s wrong!” The person in charge of guarding the base shouted.
The newly awakened commander of the Radiant Base was startled. Liu Wei pushed open the door and glared at the newcomer, “What’s all the fuss about? What’s the big deal?”
The person in charge of guarding the base gasped for breath, taking a while to calm down. “Commander, something terrible has happened!” He was almost in tears.
“Overnight, so many zombies have appeared out of nowhere and have completely surrounded the base!”
“What?” Liu Wei was stunned. “Are you still half asleep?”
“Oh dear, Commander, you’d better go check it out! I don’t even dare open the base gates!”
Liu Wei rushed out. The ordinary people in the base were in chaos, with shouts and cries filling the air.
Liu Wei was exasperated. He fiercely fired a shot into the air, “Shut the hell up! Anyone who dares to howl like a ghost, I’ll kill them!”
The gunshot rang out, and the base fell silent. However, Liu Wei, blinded by rage, was even more troubled. He had forgotten that firing a gun could easily attract zombies.
Rushing to the city gate and climbing the city wall, he was so dizzy by the sight of the endless, densely packed zombies that he almost fell off.
“How can there be so many zombies? Have almost half the zombies in the country come here?” Liu Wei couldn’t help but shout.
But no one could answer his question.
Strangely, these zombies didn’t roar, didn’t scratch at the gate, and didn’t try to climb over the wall. They just stood guard around the Radiant Base, like well-trained soldiers.
“The back mountain, what about the back mountain?” Liu Wei asked.
“Base commander, we’ve already checked the back mountain, and it’s still full of zombies…” Even with many superhumans in the base, so many zombies were overwhelming.
Liu Wei’s vision blurred, and he gritted his teeth, staring at the zombies surrounding the base.
“Tie up all the base’s food supplies!” Now, this was the only option left.
“Yes!”
The ordinary people who had thought they could finally live a peaceful life at Radiant Base were terrified by the sudden horde of zombies surrounding it.
Now, suddenly, the superhumans in the base had all of them tied up.
“Ah! Let me go, let me go! What are you doing? Why are you tying me up?”
“Mommy—”
“What are you doing—”
The ordinary people cried and screamed in fear, but to the superhumans, these people were their food reserves, so they felt no guilt or unease.
Perhaps at first they did, but over time, they had come to regard ordinary people as food, as the lowest of creatures.
Therefore, they were completely indifferent to their cries and screams.
“Base Commander, alright, all twelve hundred of our food reserves, adults and children, are tied up. What do we do next?”
Liu Wei’s lips curled into a smile.
“Very good, leave all the children behind. Leave the pregnant women behind as well, and a few high-quality men and women for future breeding and food reserves. The rest, throw them all off the city wall!”
“Yes!”
The ordinary people who heard Liu Wei’s words erupted in anger, but being bound, they could only curse: “Are you crazy? Animals! Animals! Are you even human?”
“Ah— let me go!” A man grabbed by the superhuman was so terrified he almost wet himself, struggling incessantly, but how could he possibly be a match for the superhuman?
“Humans?” Liu Wei said with a half-smile: “NONONO, you’re wrong, of course we are human. It’s you who aren’t human.”
A bunch of food reserves, yet they call themselves human? Laughable.
Liu Wei’s plan was to use a group of live, breathing people to lure the zombies away. Of the more than a thousand people, they would only leave a small portion behind, since this place was essentially ruined and couldn’t be stayed in any longer.
With so many people, the zombies would definitely surge frantically towards where the people were thrown out; not all of them would necessarily concentrate there, but most would definitely rush over.
At that point, they could find the weakest point and break through.
However, Liu Wei’s plan was rosy, but what he hadn’t anticipated was this: A person was thrown out, but the zombies seemed frozen in place, completely oblivious to the person being thrown.
“How is this possible!” Liu Wei stood on the city wall, sensing something was very wrong.
He already felt something was off when the zombies weren’t attacking. Now that the person was thrown out and the zombies were still motionless, it was even more strange.
The person who was thrown out kept their eyes tightly closed, waiting for the agonizing pain of being torn apart, but there was no reaction for a long time.
Cautiously opening their eyes, they saw a zombie standing opposite them, but it hadn’t moved at all. Terrified, but when they realized they were surrounded by zombies, their eyes rolled back and they fainted.
“Base Commander, should we throw a few more out?” They had only thrown one out, expecting it to be devoured to bits in no time, but God knows the zombies seemed to be completely blind to it.
“Wait,” Liu Wei said, his face ashen. “No need to throw them away. These zombies are strange.” He couldn’t believe that zombies couldn’t smell humans, and that they wouldn’t attack or eat the humans thrown out. This was extremely abnormal.
Just then, the seemingly endless horde of zombies slowly parted to make way for the base’s main gate. Before Liu Wei could even ponder what was happening, a large truck approached from afar.
The truck stopped a few meters from the base gate, and a thin man jumped out of the driver’s seat, a wooden stick between his teeth, looking up at the people standing on the base’s walls.
“This is… a human?” Liu Wei looked at the thin man in surprise; it was indeed a human. These zombies, wouldn’t they attack humans? Then what were they doing gathered here?
Zombies wouldn’t attack humans? Liu Wei felt like he hadn’t fully woken up yet.
However, the passenger door opened, and a girl in a white dress jumped out. But the moment she looked up, Liu Wei froze.
Blood-red eyes…
“Base Commander, what’s going on?” The person next to him also saw Fu Ke’s blood-red eyes and suddenly felt weak in the knees.
“How the hell should I know?” Liu Wei roared angrily.
The skinny man opened the truck door, and the zombies inside got out of the truck, along with the members of the Lan Zhi team and Qiu Yingying and the others.
Fu Ke took Ya Ya out of the passenger seat, patted her head and put her down: “Go find Qiu Yi, stay by his side and be good, okay?”
“Yes, I know, sister.” As she spoke, seeing Qiu Yi jump out of the back of the truck, Ya Ya ran straight to Qiu Yi’s side.
Men, women and children, humans and zombies got out of the truck. Liu Wei felt that he was probably dreaming, and the woman with blood-red eyes was clearly speaking with her mouth opening and closing.
But looking closely, Fu Ke didn’t seem to have any zombie characteristics except for her blood-red eyes. It should be, colored contact lenses, right?
Liu Wei was still somewhat nervous. In the apocalypse, someone wearing a white dress, even spotless, couldn’t possibly be one of those women who depended on others.
It was very likely that she herself possessed strength.
“Liu Wei, right?” Fu Ke said to Liu Wei. This time, Liu Wei heard what Fu Ke was saying; in fact her voice seemed to be right next to their ears.
Although she didn’t speak, everyone heard her clearly.
“Human flesh, is it tasty?” Fu Ke asked, tilting her head, her blood-red eyes seemingly filled with genuine curiosity. She just wanted to ask him a simple question: is human flesh tasty?
Stared at by those blood-red eyes, Liu Wei’s mind went blank. He swallowed hard and clenched his fist nervously.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Who are you? These zombies…” Before Liu Wei could finish speaking, those around him saw Lan Sheng and his group.
“Base Commander! It’s them, it’s them! The group that escaped last time, someone said before that they were related to the zombies, and that the apocalypse was caused by the virus they researched!” the man said excitedly. “Sure enough, what those people said was true! The apocalypse was their doing!” His voice trembled with fear, almost cracking.
Liu Wei glared at him. So what if it was true? The priority now is to survive, okay?
Whether it’s true or not, it’s obvious. This group can control zombies.
Shu Ming walked over from behind and stood next to Fu Ke. He seemed no longer afraid of zombies, standing in the center of the zombie horde without feeling any fear.
He glared angrily at the people on the city wall.
Fu Ke reached out and patted his head: “Liu Wei, I want to know, where is this child’s grandmother now?”
After learning about the base, Fu Ke ordered the zombies to surround the Radiant Base and also checked the people inside. She couldn’t find Shu Ming’s grandmother. Perhaps she was dead, or perhaps she was eaten.
