Yu Linlang shook off Yu Zhihua, cursing her bad luck. She’d run into so many clueless people along the way, delaying her return to her room.

She’d barely been back in her room when she saw Jiu Jin, the little girl, storm in with a furious expression on her round face.

Yu Linlang had just picked up her teacup when her gaze swept over curiously. “What’s wrong?” she asked, was her face flushed with anger just after delivering medicine.

Ba Liang chuckled and pulled her to sit down, handing her a cup of tea. “Did you send the medicine out?”

“The young master isn’t here. The servants in the manor said that before 11:00 AM, he went with Lord Chen to the west of the city to apprehend the culprit.”

“The young master deduced that if the culprit wanted to sneak out of the city, he would definitely go through the west gate. It’s the most convenient place to enter and exit, and the crowds are huge. It seems heavily guarded, but it’s actually quite lax.”

Yu Linlang nodded. “If you didn’t see him, why are you so angry?”

Jiu Jin grinned angrily. “I ran into the young master’s brother! That spoiled brat kept nagging me! He was just walking his bird, why was he talking to me like that?”

“He even questioned the medicine you made, Miss. I didn’t want to give it to him, and I didn’t want to continue arguing with him, but he had no sense of propriety and kept stopping me.”

A bad feeling crept into Yu Linlang’s heart. She glanced at the little maid silently. “And then you?”

“I beat him up with a fire poker!”

Yu Linlang: …

Mu Feng, being carried by gatekeeper into the living room of the Mu residence, cried out in pain, “Ouch!” He kept shouting, “Where’s my brother? I’m looking for my brother! Brother, brother! Brother, your brother’s been bullied!”

“Is there no law in Weizhou City?! How dare that brat hit me! Quick, bring me a mirror, bring me a mirror! Let me see if I have two bumps on my head! Ouch, it hurts so much!”

The two servants, their lips twitching, carried him to the brocade couch, one of them quickly fetching a bronze mirror.

Mu Feng looked at himself with self-pity, a pained expression on his face. “My face! Did you see that? My lip looks bruised! That brat’s iron fist is really hard.”

“Where’s my older brother?” Mu Feng choked back tears. “Find my older brother! I need to find my older brother.”

The servants were speechless, whispering words of comfort. “Second young master, the young master went out of the city early this morning to appease the refugees. Later, he went with Lord Chen to the west of the city to intercept that thug. I’m afraid he won’t be back for a while.”

“I don’t care, I need to find my older brother! Please help me find my older brother! This is outrageous! Someone is bullying his precious younger brother right under my older brother’s nose!! He won’t stand for it.”

Everyone was at their wits’ end, and could only offer words of comfort and reassurance. “Secong young master, the young master will return to the manor once he’s finished with his work.”

Just then, another servant came running in, panting, his face beaming. “The young master and Lord Lu are back!”

“Chuan Yi, what’s with that expression? Huh? You’re laughing while I’m getting beaten up! Come here, I promise I won’t kill you.” Mu Feng yelled angrily.

The servant boy named Chuan Yi shrank back, “Second Young Master, please stop fooling around, the Prince and the others are on their way.”

“They caught the person?” Mu Feng hissed repeatedly, covering his bruised lip.

“Yes, yes, the Prince is leading them to catch him, what can’t they catch?”

Mu Feng’s eyes lit up, and he was about to jump off the couch when Mu Zhao hurriedly walked in.

“What happened?”

“Big, Big Brother!” Mu Feng immediately collapsed, his body going limp, only sticking out a few long, slender fingers, as he cried pitifully, “Big Brother, I was almost beaten to death.”

Mu Zhao walked over quickly and waved for the others to leave.

Mu Feng immediately grabbed a mirror, pointed to his head and then to the corner of his mouth, “Big brother, look, look at this, this, and this! These are all from being beaten up by that brat!”

Mu Zhao stared at him expressionlessly, then suddenly reached out and pushed his forehead, “You have the nerve to say that. As soon as I returned to the manor, the servants reported that you were beaten by a young girl in front of the gate.”

“Was she a normal young girl?” Mu Feng panted angrily, “Big brother, you didn’t see it, she was incredibly ruthless! She knocked my head until it was covered in bumps, I didn’t even have time to dodge. Later, the guards had to help me climb a tree to avoid her fire poker attack!”

Mu Zhao couldn’t help but laugh.

Mu Feng’s eyes widened at the sight. “Big brother, you don’t love me anymore! Big brother, why are you laughing!”

Mu Zhao wanted to tap him on the head, but then remembered his silly brother’s injury and refrained. “If I don’t laugh, am I supposed to cry, or fight back for you? I’ve told you so many times, you’re too weak to lift a finger.”

“Look at you now, you can’t even lift a chicken and you can’t even beat a weak girl.”

Mu Feng’s eyes widened. “Big brother, you’re slandering me! She’s not weak at all! She could lift me up and swing me around three times with one hand!”

“Wasted out at the bird market again today?” Mu Zhao glanced at his brother with annoyance. “You’re always wasting your time playing around. Father wants you to pretend to be a playboy, not actually be one.”

“I see you’re really good at playing this role now. How many times have I told you? I told you to play dumb to fool others, but don’t actually turn into a pig. You did a good beating today, you must have been the one who started it.”

“Do you think all the girls in good families are the same as the ones you meet in brothels? Haven’t you met a single one who’s capable?” Mu Zhao couldn’t help but flick his stupid younger brother’s forehead.

Mu Feng cried out twice, clutching his head and shouting, “Ouch, ouch, ouch!”

“After this matter is over and we return to the capital, I’ll find you a proper job. If you continue to be so undisciplined, I don’t think anyone can control you.”

“Ah?” Mu Feng let out a wail, “Big brother, what do you want me to do?”

“Guarding the city gate is better than lounging at home messing around.”

How could he possibly guard the city gate? He’d get so tanned from the wind and sun!

Mu Feng pouted, looking aggrieved.

Mu Zhao held out his hand to him, “Give it to me.”

“What is it?”

“Stop pretending. The gatekeeper already told me that Miss Jiu Jin came to deliver medicine. But you stopped her and started harassing her, asking for a beating.”

“Brother, you really intend to take it?” Mu Feng reluctantly pulled a porcelain bottle from his pocket and handed it to him, “Then at least Fang Mingli should check if there’s anything wrong with this medicine!”

Mu Zhao raised his hand, and Mu Feng covered his head and shrank back.

“You stay in the manor and don’t go out causing trouble at night. I’m going to the Governor’s office later, and I don’t know when I’ll be back. Also, stop writing letters to Mother every day to complain, behave yourself!”

“Brother, can I go with you to see?”

Mu Zhao shook his head, “The interrogation might not have a result for a while, so don’t go and join the fun. I’ll tell you when we have news.”

“Okay.” Mu Feng nodded reluctantly, but in his heart, he was determined to write to his mother and tell her that his brother was so busy that he didn’t even sleep, interrogating prisoners all night.
