The Roman desert.

Five consecutive days of filming left both the actors and the rest of the crew looking somewhat haggard and exhausted.

Even with ample water, working in this environment was still much more mentally taxing than in the city.

Si Huang had also been fully immersed in filming “The Teeth of Time” for the past five days. She knew a little about what was happening in China, but she didn’t let it distract her.

Compared to the others, Si Huang’s scenes were arguably the most arduous yet also the most relaxed. The arduous part was that even in the scorching desert, she had to wear a full priest’s robe, covered from head to toe, without showing any sign of heat. The relaxed part was that her role always placed her in a privileged position; while others were rolling around in the desert, she stood with someone holding an umbrella to shield her from the sun.

Currently, the filmed scene was of the male lead, Lei Qie, mingling with the army marching through the desert. The protagonist, Mithius, comes to bless them, wishing them a successful and victorious march.

The silver-haired priest placed his hand on the man’s forehead, his lowered eyes gentle, his soft blessings making his appear sacred and flawless, infecting the extras who involuntarily show devout expressions.

Lei Qie was among the blessed group. He secretly glanced at the silver-haired priest blessing the soldiers, outwardly showing nothing, but his thoughts had already strayed from the role— is this acting too? This kid seems more like a priest than a real priest. He genuinely seems to love these soldiers who protect the country, extending a hand to bless even the lowest-ranking infantryman without any disdain!

When Lei Qie went on stage, he personally experienced the cool, warm touch of the priest’s fingers.

This touch startled him, and he lowered his eyelids to see the silver-haired priest’s white shoes, which made the yellow sand look even cleaner, just like the priest himself.

“Though the road ahead is destined to be full of thorns, may God’s light shine upon you.” An elegant and melodious voice rang out.

Lei Qie lowered his head and replied meekly, “Thank you, Your Excellency.”

“Cut—!” Xiao Jin shouted.

Accompanied by a rolled-up script being thrown at Lei Qie, “Thank you? Your Excellency? You’re the male lead, not one of those ordinary soldiers!”

Lei Qie was hit squarely on the head, and before he could recover, he heard Si Huang say in a meaningful tone, “A lucky one favored by the Tooth of Time.”

“Sorry, I forgot about that line.” Lei Qie apologized verbally, but shrugged as if he didn’t care.

According to the plot, Si Huang’s line should have been in Lei Qie’s mind, meaning he wouldn’t say it during filming.

This would depend on Lei Qie’s acting skills; his reaction should be a restrained silence of panic, because he knew he had been recognized by Mishus— after the male lead believed that Mishus shouldn’t have seen him since they had avoided their first meeting!

“Let’s do it again!” Xiao Jin glared coldly at Lei Qie, signaling him to take it seriously.

Lei Qie didn’t show it on his face, but inwardly he thought: It’s because I’m taking it too seriously that Si Huang keeps leading me off-topic! How can a little boy portray the feeling of a real priest? He even made me feel a sense of solemnity that I dare not disrespect him!

“I’m sorry.” This time it was Si Huang who apologized. She took the towel Yu Xi handed her and wiped her sweat, saying to Xiao Jin, “If we do it again, I’m afraid I’ll miss my flight.”

Xiao Jin then remembered that Si Huang had told him about today’s schedule yesterday, that she needed to rush back to China to do some other work.

“Alright, you can go back first.” Xiao Jin had already agreed, so there was no reason to stop her halfway.

Besides, Si Huang hadn’t made any mistakes in the past few days of filming; it was others who had to do retakes. If it weren’t for the poor performance of others, Si Huang wouldn’t have had to rush so much today.

Si Huang thanked him and didn’t say anything more polite before hurrying to the dressing room to remove her makeup.

When she came out in her usual clothes, Si Huang saw that Yu Xi had already prepared the car, but there was someone else with him.

“Young Master Si,” Zhao Lili greeted Si Huang with a smile, her attitude neither arrogant nor humble, yet perfectly respectful. “I happen to be on the same flight today, can we go together?”

Si Huang glanced at Yu Xi, then opened the car door. “Let’s go.”

A look of surprise appeared on Zhao Lili’s face.

The car headed towards the airport, and Si Huang leaned back in her seat, closing her eyes to rest.

Zhao Lili, sitting next to him, was quite well-behaved, but as time passed, she couldn’t help but glance at the person sitting across the armrest from her.

From Zhao Lili’s perspective, she could easily see Si Huang’s profile clearly. His fair and flawless skin would make any woman envious, but his delicate and handsome features, even more pronounced when his eyes were closed, with their smooth lines, were breathtakingly beautiful.

Unfortunately, this kind of man was too difficult to fool!

It wasn’t that Zhao Lili wasn’t interested in Si Huang, but she was smart enough to know that the success rate of seducing him was too low. If she really made a move on him, her intentions would be too obvious. Yu Xi, on the other hand, was a different story.

This man appeared shrewd but was very loyal, deeply trusted by Si Huang, and possessed a vast network of connections and resources. Most importantly, he was overshadowed by Si Huang’s brilliance, and no other woman had yet discovered his value.

If she could win over Yu Xi, her future path would undoubtedly be easier. The higher Si Huang rises, the wider Yu Xi’s resources would become, and she would benefit as well!

Moreover, the better Yu Xi’s relationship with Si Huang, the more exposure she could gain in Si Huang’s presence. Who knows what might happen with Si Huang in the future?

Zhao Lili’s mind raced with thoughts before she broke the silence in the car, “Young Master Si…”
