God fell on the pure white earth.
He closed his eyes, leaving no words behind. His body gradually hardened, his color slowly faded, and finally, he transformed into a pure white statue.
Luo Mi pressed his hand to his chest, his heart pounding so hard it felt like it might burst out of his chest at any moment.
He watched the god fall with his own eyes, yet he still felt like he was in a dreamlike unreality. It wasn’t until Anos coughed twice in his arms that he came back to his senses, pinching his own cheek in disbelief: “We won?”
Anos took two deep breaths, his strength gradually returning. He sat up straight, scrutinizing the statue that had once been the God, making sure it had no signs of life left, before turning to look at Luo Mi, awaiting his explanation.
Luo Mi scratched his head, took a step forward, and suddenly another statue appeared beside him.
A flicker of surprise flashed in Anos’s crimson right eye: “The statue of God’s Wisdom? So you took it.”
The statue of God’s Wisdom, which was once secretly enshrined in the royal palace of Duke Perde, was later taken into Luo Mi’s system space. For this, Luo Mi even spent points to exchange for a special space.
During several subsequent encounters with danger, Luo Mi considered taking it out, but for various reasons, he did not manage to do so.
When the statue was taken out, Luo Mi couldn’t help but glance at the statue of God.
The two statues are made of strikingly similar materials, as if they were made from the same batch of raw materials.
Luo Mi placed the statue down, took two steps back, rubbed his face, and said to the statue, “System, are you there?”
A crack slowly appeared on the statue of the God’s Wisdom, then melted away like summer snow, leaving behind a ball of orange-red light.
A spot of light resembling facial features appeared on the surface of the ball of light, and a familiar voice came from a mouth-like location: “Congratulations, host, you have completed the mission.”
Luo Mi twitched the corner of his mouth, as if he wanted to laugh: “Do we still have to cosplay as the system and the host?”
The ball of light laughed and said, “I’m used to it.”
Anos followed Luo Mi over, stared at the ball of light, hesitated for a moment, and then said, “The God’s Wisdom?”
“It’s me.” The ball of light turned to Anos, a hint of relief in its voice. “Long time no see.”
Anos silently looked at the ball of light, then at Luo Mi: “You’ve been hiding inside Luo Mi’s body all this time? What just happened?”
“Sort of, although my real body was inside the statue.” The God’s Wisdom corrected the statement, and then said, “Just now I exchanged your fate with that of God— to be precise, I exchanged your identities.”
Anos frowned slightly: “Is this even possible?”
“Under normal circumstances, I can only copy the identity and fate of ordinary people into my host.” As he said this, the God’s Wisdom glanced at Luo Mi.
Luo Mi recalled when he first transmigrated to this world and was captured by Anos. He was about to be purified as a demon. In desperation, he used the system’s function to copy the “Chosen One” identity of the little boy John next to him into his own body, thus deceiving Anos and successfully taking the first step.
The God’s Wisdom continued, “But your situation is different. You were once a complete soul, which then split apart. It will be much easier for you to exchange fates.”
Anos said, “Even so, the God will not let you succeed easily.”
His tone was not one of interrogation, but rather one of simple doubt.
The voice of the God’s Wisdom became much calmer: “My success is also due to his trust in me, putting me on his ‘whitelist,’ just like you didn’t refuse Luo Mi’s attempt to pierce your chest just now.”
Anos remained silent.
Luo Mi also felt a pang of guilt.
After the mission to “kill Anos” was announced, another voice simultaneously rang in his mind— the voice from the system.
The system told him that it had advanced his points and activated the mental barrier he had used when he first met the Pope, which could block God’s mind reading.
Luo Mi used all his willpower to keep himself from being exposed— his shock and trembling at the time were from the bottom of his heart, but not entirely due to the fact that God could manipulate the system.
Afterwards, the system told him the strategy for exchanging fates.
They exchanged Anos’s dying fate for the God.
However, there were two prerequisites: first, Anos must actually suffer a fatal wound; second, the exchange must be completed only at the moment Anos was on the verge of death.
If any of the above conditions were not met, God could react in time and ruin their plans.
Therefore, Luo Mi must truly “betray” Anos, personally piercing Anos’s chest to completely drain his life away, giving the system ample time to make a judgment.
Although it was all for the ultimate victory, the pain Anos felt when he was stabbed in the chest was real, both physically and mentally.
Luo Mi was even prepared for Anos to show disbelief, pain, condemnation, or even hatred, but Anos simply watched him quietly from beginning to end, entrusting his fate to him.
Now that the plan had succeeded, Luo Mi was filled with fear, guilt, and unease.
Anos turned his head and looked over, his heterochromatic eyes filled with the same tenderness, and reached out to hug him.
Luo Mi paused for a moment, looked up and met Anos’s gaze for a while, and the turbulent emotions in his heart gradually calmed down.
Without needing to say anything more, he already understood what Anos meant.
The God’s Wisdom glanced at them, and the corners of his mouth, formed by light spots, turned up slightly.
