The sound was loud; for experienced people, just hearing it told them what had happened.
“What happened? Another crash?” Some even rolled down their windows and leaned out to look.
Qin Fan, however, instantly fastened Si Huang’s seatbelt, simultaneously reminding her, “Hold on tight.”
Si Huang, already alert, sat firmly.
This quick reaction earned an approving look from Qin Fan, and then the man pressed the accelerator, one hand on the gearshift, the other gripping the steering wheel.
Almost the instant he pressed the accelerator, the cars in front were repeatedly struck and sent flying. Seeing another car hurtling towards them, Qin Fan swerved the steering wheel, using both hands and feet to narrowly avoid a collision.
In that instant, Si Huang saw through the window that the culprit behind this chain-reaction accident was a modified sports car, traveling at considerable speed. The front of the car was mostly crushed, but it hadn’t harmed the occupants.
The driver in this car must have been confident in his vehicle to dare to recklessly escape the encirclement.
The traffic police who arrived earlier to handle the accident were Italian officers, but they were poorly equipped and unaware of the terrorist attack, which gave the perpetrator the opportunity to escape. Waiting for professional police to arrive was clearly too late.
Si Huang narrowed her eyes, then she decisively unbuckled her seatbelt, and nimbly slipped into the back seat like a nimble lynx.
She took a bunch of parts from a backpack in the back seat, and her long, slender fingers assembled the Soul01 in just four seconds – an exceptional performance.
This was thanks to her consistent training in firearms and physical fitness, even while working and studying every day.
Qin Fan glanced at her, a hint of disapproval in his eyes, but he still praised her, “You’ve improved.”
“Should we check my shooting skills?” Si Huang replied, already rolling down the window beside her.
Qin Fan’s gaze darkened, inwardly cursing, “Why ask when you didn’t even want my opinion!”
He abruptly turned the steering wheel, the car making a sharp turn in the pouring rain, perfectly aligning Si Huang with a target, directly facing the modified sports car attempting another violent escape in the distance.
No matter how high the performance of that modified sports car, it wouldn’t be able to get away quickly in a traffic jam.
So Si Huang took a deep breath, calming herself. Large raindrops pelted her face, seemingly imperceptible, her eyes deep and cold in the rain.
“I’ll only give you one chance,” Qin Fan’s voice rang out. “If you fail, you’ll be punished.”
Si Huang’s lips curled into a smile. “If I fail, you can do whatever you want to me.”
“…” Qin Fan almost lost control of the accelerator, then glared angrily at the hot-tempered brat.
He didn’t even move his head, only uttering the next sentence, “On the contrary, if I succeeded…”
Bang—
Soul01’s gunshot, like her exquisite appearance, was exceptionally elegant and restrained, going unnoticed in the rain and chaos.
The bullet pierced through the rain and the chaotic traffic, striking the rear tire of the modified sports car.
The modified car instantly lost its balance, skidded to the side, and collided with another car with a loud bang.
In this bang, another gunshot was easily masked; the bullet successfully hit the remaining rear tire.
In less than two seconds, two shots hit their targets.
Si Huang didn’t linger to savor her success or let others know of her heroic act. In fact, as soon as she successfully completed her mission, she immediately retreated into the car, rolled up the window, and disassembled the Soul01 into parts, disposing of them in various places in the back seat.
She did all this quite naturally and quickly, happy to share her success with her only man. “Continuing from what we were saying, are you ready with a reward?”
Qin Fan quietly looked at her smug smile for a few seconds, then said, “Do whatever you want to me.”
Si Huang’s eyes crinkled with laughter. “Okay.”
Traffic police and belated police officers finally arrived, and after a brief period of chaos, apprehended the criminals inside the car. The ease with which it happened was thanks to Si Huang’s two accurate shots, catching the assailant completely off guard. The assailant inside the car was injured and unable to escape to harm others or capture hostages. Overall, it was a stroke of luck amidst misfortune.
Through the car window, Si Huang saw the assailant being apprehended by the police, someone inspecting the modified sports car, and several traffic police officers talking to each other, glancing in their direction every now and then. Someone even pointed in their direction.
“Will you dare to be impulsive again next time?” Qin Fan had also noticed the situation.
Si Huang didn’t admit her mistake. “I was aware of my surroundings when I fired; no one should have seen it.” With the heavy rain, everyone’s attention was already diverted, especially since Qin Fan’s car was deliberately positioned to conceal his position.
Under Qin Fan’s intense gaze, the stubborn Si Huang finally explained, “He almost killed us just now.”
Of course, another reason was that she was in a bad mood at the time. Her tense and exhausted mind, burdened by the memory of her near-death experience, was easily triggered by this incident.
After venting, her emotions finally returned to normal, especially after her coordinated attack with Qin Fan.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have had the mind to tease Qin Fan.
Qin Fan didn’t really blame her, but he couldn’t encourage her behavior. “We won’t die, at most we’ll just bleed a little.”
“If they dare to make you bleed, I dare to take their lives.” Si Huang revealed a cold smile.
Qin Fan knew she was somewhat faking it, but he was still amused. The warmth in his eyes easily made his previous reprimands seem empty and powerless.
“Knock knock knock.”
There was a knocking sound from outside.
Si Huang and Qin Fan looked at each other.
Si Huang and Qin Fan exchanged a glance, then turned and rolled down the window.
The middle-aged policeman, soaked by the heavy rain, was clearly stunned when he saw Si Huang in the car. He hadn’t expected to find such a young Asian boy inside.
His silver hair was slightly wet and lay flat, his fair face highlighted his delicate features, and his clear, bright eyes flickered with panic.
“Ah! What a handsome young man! He must be the son of some wealthy family!” the middle-aged foreign police officer thought to himself, his initial suspicions lessening considerably. He then asked Si Huang in English, “Excuse me, but could you please answer a few questions?”
“Yes, please go ahead,” Si Huang replied in a perfect accent, her manners and politeness evident in her attitude.
The middle-aged officer became even more uncertain about his suspicions. “There was a car accident here just now. The perpetrator has been apprehended. It was all thanks to a hero who shot the perpetrator’s tire. Witnesses said the bullet came from your side.”
Si Huang’s eyes widened in surprise, making her appear even younger and more innocent. “I saw it! That was terrifying! If Arnold hadn’t been such a good driver, I definitely wouldn’t be here being questioned by you… Wait, do you mean you suspect I’m that hero?”
The middle-aged police officer, stared at by such surprised eyes, and seeing Si Huang’s not-so-thin but certainly not-so-muscular physique, and her delicate, perfect face, clearly that of a well-protected young nobleman, almost lost his voice of suspicion.
Si Huang raised her hands and waved them in front of her several times. “Why would you think that? If I had that kind of ability… But after what happened today, I think I really should train harder.”
The middle-aged officer’s eyes naturally fell on her hands— hands so white and without a single callus, hands that didn’t belong to someone who trained with guns year-round.
“Don’t be nervous, this is a good thing. That hero saved many people.” The officer smiled kindly. “Your hair and clothes are wet, did you get caught in the rain?”
Si Huang said embarrassedly, “Oh, I couldn’t resist opening the window to check outside.”
“There’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Everyone has curiosity. It’s safe now.” The officer turned his gaze to Qin Fan in the driver’s seat. “Could your driver open the door and say a few words to me?”
The question was polite, but they knew they couldn’t refuse.
Si Huang nodded.
In the brief moment the officer walked towards the front window, Si Huang secretly smiled at Qin Fan.
Qin Fan chuckled and pursed his lips. When he opened the door to face the middle-aged officer, his expression became reserved and inconspicuous, truly like a taciturn professional bodyguard and driver.
The middle-aged officer first observed Qin Fan. This gentleman seemed to have some ability, but his hair and clothes were clean, without any signs of being wet, meaning he hadn’t been out of the car. However, to successfully shoot the criminals’ modified sports car, the firearm had to be out of the window.
Furthermore, his position in the driver’s seat was incorrect; it was impossible for him to have successfully shot at the assailant’s car. After conducting routine questioning of Qin Fan and asking for his driver’s license, it was discovered that Qin Fan’s license was not on him. Si Huang, in the back, awkwardly interjected, “I insisted he take me out; this is my identification.”
She took her driver’s license from her bag and handed it over.
As the officer took it, he automatically imagined all sorts of scenarios: a rich kid causing trouble, or a secret rendezvous.
“Please allow me to inspect your vehicle,” the officer said.
Si Huang frowned slightly, appearing reluctant.
Being asked to inspect the car as an ‘innocent victim’ was indeed bound to cause resentment.
The middle-aged police officer was prepared to explain again when he heard the young Asian boy whisper, “While it’s your right and you’re acting impartially, I believe I’m innocent and shouldn’t be treated like a suspect.”
“This is…”
But Si Huang interrupted the officer again, raising her head, “I understand what you mean. What I’m saying is, I can let you in for the inspection, but after the inspection, as compensation for my suspicions, could you pretend you didn’t know about the unlicensed driving? Just pretend I was driving, please!”
The middle-aged officer was both amused and exasperated. He found it very interesting to be asked this by an Asian boy about the same age as his daughter, especially since the boy seemed quite likable. He thought about it carefully and decided it wasn’t a big problem, happy to make amends to the young Asian man.
“Okay.”
The author has something to say:
A long time later, when this officer saw His Majesty’s arrogant and domineering appearance on TV. One wonders about the size of his psychological trauma!
