Gripping the walkie-talkie tightly in his hand, Lu Dangui was momentarily stunned.
He remembered the long scar on Xing Cheng’s back with the star tattoo.
He had seen that scar twice. Once was at Fujita Mansion, when Xing Cheng was having a spa treatment with his back to him.
Another time, that night at the Xing residence, when everything was coming to an end, his hand gently touched that person’s scar.
Over the course of three years, Lu Wenfei repeatedly told him that Xing Cheng was not the kind of person he thought he was, and that he must have some kind of hidden reason.
However, Xing Cheng calmly told him that only kind people deserve to be saved, and he did not.
“Dr. Lu, the situation in the elevator seems to be getting more and more serious. Should I contact the police station?”
“…”
After a moment of silence, Lu Dangui spoke to the security guard: “This is my patient, I’ll handle it. Please inform Dean Qiu, but don’t tell anyone else for now.”
He instructed the security guards to close the security center’s doors, keeping all unauthorized personnel out. Lu Dangui took a deep breath and picked up the intercom on the table.
Upon hearing the voice coming from the walkie-talkie, the man on the screen hesitated for a moment.
Seeing Xing Cheng temporarily stop what he was doing, Lu Dangui immediately made a decision: “Tall guy, grab him!”
Xing Shi immediately realized what was happening.
He stepped forward and grabbed the young master’s shoulder: “Young master, it’s Dr. Lu. He wants you to calm down!”
With his arms restrained by Xing Shi, Xing Cheng slowly moved his eyelids, a hint of realization flashing in his eyes.
The middle-aged man collapsed to the ground, powerless to resist any longer. The other nurse, after settling her injured colleague, quickly knelt down and began checking the patient’s vital signs.
After struggling a few times in Xing Shi’s arms, Xing Cheng slowly lowered his hand.
Blood dripped from his fingertips onto the ground; it was impossible to tell whether it belonged to the middle-aged man or to him.
On the walkie-talkie, Lu Dangui’s voice disappeared, replaced by an unfamiliar male voice. The male voice said that maintenance personnel had arrived at the scene and that passengers should not panic and would be able to get out soon.
Five minutes later, the ground shook twice, and the elevator began to move downwards at a steady speed.
Originally, Xing Shi thought the elevator would go directly down to the lobby. He had already called his men who were stationed outside the hospital and told them to be ready to come in and help the young master leave.
Unexpectedly, the elevator only went down two floors and stopped on the eleventh floor.
The elevator doors slowly opened from both sides, and several security guards and nurses stood at the door, waiting to transport the injured.
Through the dense crowd of people, Xing Cheng spotted a familiar figure standing not far away.
It was a junior doctor.
….
Seeing Xing Shi helping Xing Cheng out of the elevator, Lu Dangui immediately went to greet them.
As he approached the two men, Lu Dangui said to Xing Shi, “Several media outlets have come downstairs. I wonder where they got the information from.”
Upon hearing what Dr. Lu said, Xing Shi quickly found a place with good signal and called the family to ask them to handle the media matter urgently.
Seeing that the young doctor had no intention of paying attention to him, Xing Cheng said nothing, but turned around and sat on a bench in the corridor.
Leaning against the cold white wall, he closed his eyes and began to rest when he suddenly heard the young doctor’s indifferent voice from above: “Why did you hit him?”
With his eyes and brows hidden under the brim of his hat, Xing Cheng’s face remained expressionless: “It’s none of your business.”
Lu Dangui: “……”
He checked the corridor around the department again to make sure Dr. Lin and the others had already left work. He then picked up the record book he was carrying, sat down at the other end of the bench, and began to organize today’s medical records.
“Why are you the one who came?”
After a long pause, Xing Cheng spoke up and asked.
A vicious attack on medical staff occurred at the hospital, and not a single outsider was seen in the vicinity. It was quite strange that this person was the only one present.
“I told them, you are my patient.” Lu Dangui scribbled in the notebook without looking up. “I’ve already contacted Dean Qiu, and he said he’ll come to take care of things for you later.”
Xing Cheng stretched his stiff legs and chuckled softly.
Lu Dangui glanced at him, wondering what was wrong with this lunatic this time.
“Dr. Lu,” Xing Cheng looked up at the incandescent light on the corridor ceiling, “Do other psychiatrists sleep with their patients like you do?”
Hearing Xing Cheng tease him like that, Lu Dangui’s tone suddenly turned cold: “First of all, our doctor-patient relationship has been terminated, so please don’t use an accident as an excuse.”
“Secondly, I did help you this time, so please show me some respect, Mr. Xing.”
Straightening up from the bench, Xing Cheng asked a seemingly unrelated question: “Dr. Lu isn’t married?”
Lu Dangui retorted irritably, “What’s it to you?”
Xing Cheng smiled gently: “My father has arranged a blind date for me, we’re meeting next week. I was originally thinking of asking Dr. Lu for some advice.”
Lu Dangui was left speechless.
This guy really knows how to bring up the most sensitive topics. These rich kids and celebrities, who among them isn’t thriving in the world of romance? Why would they need to ask him, a lifelong single, for advice?
However, Xing Cheng was already twenty-eight years old. If he were from an ordinary family, he would indeed be at the age where he should be going on blind dates.
Xing Shi had gone downstairs to arrange manpower. There were hardly any people on the eleventh floor, and the two fell into a long silence again.
After thinking for a moment, Lu Dangui reluctantly started a conversation: “Are you going on a blind date? Is your date a celebrity or an ordinary person?”
He thought to himself that this was also a way of asking around for Lu Wenfei. After all, she had been a fan of this person for so many years. Now that he had found out the truth, it would completely put an end to the hopes of that group of female fans, led by his sister.
Their favorite brother getting married and starting a family; this is something every fan must go through.
Xing Cheng tilted his head slightly: “Dr. Lu, are you so concerned about my private life?”
Lu Dangui rolled his eyes and simply shut up.
He and this person were completely incommunicado!
Dean Qiu was late in arriving, so Lu Dangui took out his phone to call and ask again, only to find two missed calls from Wenfei.
Seeing that he hadn’t answered, she had sent another text message.
After glancing briefly at the text message from Lu Wenfei, Lu Dangui abruptly stood up from the bench: “Come with me.”
Xing Cheng glanced at him indifferently, his voice completely flat: “Where to?”
The sign above the elevator doors indicated that the elevator had arrived at the fifth floor. Seeing the man dawdling, Lu Dangui simply stepped forward and grabbed Xing Cheng’s sleeve: “Go hide in my clinic, quick!”
Xing Cheng hissed softly as Lu Dangui grabbed his wrist.
His tone sounded reproachful, but he raised an eyebrow and said with a playful expression, “Doctor, it hurts.”
Lu Dangui then noticed that the man had burns on his palms, and the wounds were quite severe, already red, swollen, and blistered.
His professional instincts as a doctor led him to instinctively grab Xing Cheng’s hand, wanting to check for any signs of infection.
Bite–
The elevator doors slowly opened in front of the two people, and behind them came the sound of wheels rolling on the ground.
“Elder brother!”
As she wheeled herself out of the elevator, Lu Wenfei paused, her expression subtle.
She saw her brother and a man wearing a mask holding hands at the elevator entrance.
Upon hearing her voice, her older brother suddenly raised his head and froze on the spot.
