The ventilation fan inside the elevator stopped working, and the air became increasingly stuffy.

Four people stood in the enclosed space, and another lay on the ground. The overhead lights flickered, making everyone’s faces appear pale.

The nurse who was pushed to the ground let out a soft sob, but suddenly covered her mouth in the darkness, suppressing her sobs.

She opened her eyes wide, braced her right hand on the floor, and began to desperately move backward.

The middle-aged man’s eyes were vacant and crazed. He lit the lighter again and walked step by step toward the nurse on the ground.

The tall shadow blocked the overhead light, and the nurse let out a terrified scream.

Just now, the middle-aged man grabbed her wrist and held a lighter to her face. The flickering flame flashed in the man’s eyes, and his expression gradually twisted, like a demon crawling out of hell.

Another nurse leaned against the elevator railing, clutching her phone tightly in her hand.

A cold female voice echoed repeatedly in the cramped space: “Hello, the number you dialled is temporarily unavailable—”

“The elevator is about to fall.”

The middle-aged man slowly raised his head, staring at the flashing alarm light above him, and began to mutter to himself, “If I die, none of you will live.”

Xing Shi raised his arm and shielded the young master behind him.

He never expected that the young master would encounter such a situation when he finally came out.

The eldest young master had been discharged from the rehabilitation department for more than a month, and his first follow-up examination was scheduled in the next few days.

They had already contacted Dean Qiu to arrange for the doctor to come home for the examination. But last night, the young master suddenly changed his mind and said he wanted to come to the hospital in person.

After the examination, the young master pulled down his hat brim and said he wanted to go to the 11th floor.

After glancing at the hospital’s floor plan, Xing Shi understood.

Eleventh floor, Psychiatry/Psychology Department.

The young master didn’t come for a check-up; he came specifically to see Dr. Lu.

As a professionally trained private bodyguard, his primary duty was to protect the safety of his master.

However, this time, he was indeed careless.

Once inside the elevator, he was so focused on the people around him that he didn’t even notice when the lighter in his pocket had been stolen.

With her skills, he could have easily subdued this patient who had suddenly fallen ill. However, besides the young master, there were also two defenceless nurses in the elevator.

Aside from taking care of the young master, he had no experience dealing with mentally ill patients. If he took action rashly, not only would he fail to protect the others in the elevator, but he might also provoke the middle-aged man. If this man fought back and set fire to the enclosed space with a lighter, everyone would be in danger.

After weighing the pros and cons in his mind, Xing Shi ultimately decided not to make a move.

A burst of noise came from the elevator intercom. The middle-aged man was startled by the sound behind him and suddenly let out a low growl.

He grabbed the nurse’s arm, pulled her up from the ground, and slammed her against the elevator door.

The ground suddenly shook violently, and the nurse’s face immediately turned pale.

The surroundings were silent, and Xing Shi suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.

A cold hand landed on his shoulder and gently patted his back.

Xing Shi turned around and found that, without him noticing, the young master had emerged from the corner.

The young master’s gaze drifted over his shoulder and fixed on the middle-aged man in front of him, a suffocating coldness surfacing in his eyes.

“…Get out of here.”

Hearing the young master speak in a deep voice, Xing Shi broke out in a cold sweat.

……Oops.

He was thinking about how to resolve the crisis at hand, but he never imagined that the most dangerous person in the entire elevator was standing right behind him.

If we consider a paranoid person attacking medical staff in an elevator with a lighter, their danger level is level five.

But the young master in his sick state is at level ten in terms of danger!

He drove his sports car recklessly on the overpass, nearly flying off the pier and into the river. He filled the bathtub at the Fujita Mansion with water and sank to the bottom, just to enjoy a moment of suffocating pleasure.

This person was a ruthless individual who completely disregarded his life in pursuit of thrills.

“Young Master, the alarm has gone off. The maintenance crew should be here immediately—”

“I said,” Xing Cheng repeated calmly, “get out of the way.”

Before he could even raise his hand to stop him, the young master had already walked around him, leaning on his cane, and silently stood behind the middle-aged man.

Xing Cheng released his grip, and the black cane fell to the elevator floor with a dull thud.

Hearing a noise behind him, the middle-aged man raised his lighter and was about to turn around to see what was going on when he felt someone press down on the back of his head.

Bang—

His head was forcefully pushed forward by the person behind him, slamming it hard against the elevator door.

A buzzing sound filled his head, and the middle-aged man suddenly felt dizzy and released his grip. The young nurse, who had been held captive in his arms, looked up in alarm and broke free from his grasp.

Clang.

Clang, clang.

The middle-aged man’s hair at the back of his head was being grabbed tightly and slammed against the metal door in front of him with tremendous force.

Blood slowly trickled down his forehead, and amidst the continuous pain, he finally came to his senses.

The person behind him wanted to crush him to death!

Enduring the excruciating pain in his forehead, the middle-aged man lit the lighter in his hand and, taking advantage of a brief pause, swung it at the face of the person behind him.

The hand gripping his head suddenly loosened, and with swift reflexes, the person stopped him from moving.

The air smelled of burnt flesh and blood, and the middle-aged man stared wide-eyed in disbelief.

When he was only an inch away from the person’s face behind him, he raised his hand and grabbed the lighter’s ignition tip with his bare hand.

The flames licked Xing Cheng’s palm, but he seemed completely oblivious to the pain.

Xing Cheng snatched the lighter from the middle-aged man’s hand and threw it on the floor.

A thick, pungent stench of blood filled the stuffy elevator car. The middle-aged man’s eyes rolled slightly upwards, and he uttered a muffled cry for help: “Help, help me—”

“Young Master, he’s dying—”

The chaotic noise echoed in Xing Cheng’s mind, and he found it very noisy.

Unable to release the anger in his heart, unable to relieve the pain in his nerve endings.

So he grabbed the blood-stained hair of the person in front of him and slammed it against the metal door again.

Since he couldn’t empathize with people, he’ll only resort to violence to suppress violence.

Everything before him turned gray and white, even the bright red blood lost its color. He mechanically repeated the actions in his hands, as if he had found an outlet for his emotions, a way to temporarily fill the emptiness in his soul.

In the midst of chaos, he heard a familiar voice coming from a very distant place.

The noise from the walkie-talkie stopped abruptly, and only the person’s clear enunciation could be heard.

The young doctor told him, “That’s enough.”

….

Everything happened within tens of seconds.

Lu Dangui had just picked up the walkie-talkie and was adjusting it when the security guard next to him suddenly pointed at the screen and shouted:

“Dr. Lu, they’re fighting!”

He hurriedly looked up and saw that Xing Cheng had snatched the lighter from the middle-aged man’s hand and was now slamming the man’s head against the elevator door.

Putting the microphone aside, Lu Dangui asked the security guard, “How long until the maintenance crew arrives?”

The security guard quickly checked the group messages: “They’ve arrived at the intersection and are waiting for the traffic light!”

Looking at the hysterical man in the surveillance footage, a thought suddenly flashed through Lu Dangui’s mind.

If the outside world finds out that Xing Cheng assaulted someone in the hospital, his reputation will be completely ruined.

In this way, the news that he was a mental patient would spread like wildfire, and everyone would know the unknown side of Xing Cheng.

Three years ago, this person escaped punishment in full view of everyone.

But three years later, he could finally avenge his sister.
