Shu Mian kept her head down, not daring to look at Tan Xuzhe’s expression.

She didn’t know what his relationship was with this short-haired girl. When he said he wanted to bump into someone, was he referring to her?

“Who are you?”

It wasn’t until she heard his clearly unfamiliar tone that her tense shoulders slowly relaxed, and she secretly looked up at his expression.

Tan Xuzhe seemed genuinely unfamiliar with the short-haired girl, appearing quite distant.

The girl didn’t seem to mind, and laughed heartily, “Don’t you remember me? I’m Liu Xiao, from the same major and class as you.”

“Oh?” Tan Xuzhe’s expression was nonchalant. “Sorry.”

Liu Xiao waved her hand, “Haha, it’s okay. There are thirty or forty people in our class, and I haven’t even recognized them all yet.”

She didn’t say anything more and sat down in the front row.

Once everyone had arrived, President Chi Wei stood on the stage. “Alright, everyone, quiet down and find a seat. I don’t want to take up too much of your time. We’ll have a quick meeting, mainly to introduce the various departments of our club…”

The meeting began, and she played a PowerPoint presentation on the stage, introducing the overview and responsibilities of each department of the club.

Shu Mian didn’t really listen; she was still thinking about who Tan Xuzhe was talking about— who exactly was this person he wanted to bump into?

Could it really be her…? Could he actually be interested in her?

Some details of her recent interactions with him kept popping into her mind, so much so that she didn’t hear Chi Wei say the meeting was over.

“What are you spacing out for?”

Tan Xuzhe had stood up at some point, then leaned against the table, his tall figure slightly leaning forward, gently tugging at the little tuft of her bun. “Shu Mianmian, let’s go.”

“Um?”

Shu Mian snapped out of her daze and blinked. “Is it over?”

“Um.”

She nodded, got up and was about to get her bag when she noticed that Tan Xuzhe had already naturally taken the bag in his hand.

She couldn’t help but secretly curl the corners of her lips. He looked like the kind of boyfriend who would carry his girlfriend’s bag.

She hadn’t expected him to catch her. The boy’s eyes held a hint of inquiry as he raised an eyebrow at her. “What are you smirking about?”

“No, no.” Shu Mian didn’t dare to admit her thoughts just now and denied it, saying, “I didn’t smirk, you are just seeing things.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she hurriedly walked out, afraid that he would ask her any more questions.

Tan Xuzhe, however, wouldn’t let the topic go. He followed behind her, his finger tugging at the little bun on her head again, his deep, lazy voice mixed with an ambiguous chuckle, “Do you think I’m stupid? Shu Mianmian.”

“…”

“Just now,” he pointed to the corner of her lips, a teasing glint in his peach blossom eyes, “it’s called a dimple, right? You even have a dimple, and you still say you weren’t smirking?”

Shu Mian could only force a smile and say, “Okay, I did smirk, so what? It’s not illegal to smirk…”

The little girl’s two dimples reappeared as her lips twitched, and she mumbled something under her breath. Tan Xuzhe stared at her, his fingertips itching.

This time he couldn’t resist and poked her left dimple with his index finger.

Shu Mian stopped abruptly, frozen in place, her beautiful, clear almond-shaped eyes wide open, her breath catching in her throat.

The boy’s fingers were slightly cool, but the spot he poked felt like it had been ignited by a flame and became very hot.

Tan Xuzhe raised his eyebrows slightly, his eyes sparkling with an ambiguous glint, and the corners of his lips curled up.

While she was still in a daze, that slender finger moved up a little further, poking her soft, white cheek, and chuckled softly, “Shu Mianmian, you’re so soft.”

His fingertips felt as if they were sinking into a freshly baked marshmallow— soft and bouncy.

I really want to take a bite.

“…”

Shu Mian’s face involuntarily flushed red; her roommates often pinched her cheeks.

But this was Tan Xuzhe… Her scalp tingled, and it took her a while to regain her breath. She then accused him in a panicked voice, “What are you doing?”

“Why, can’t you tell what I’m doing?” Tan Xuzhe poked her face with his finger again before casually withdrawing his hand.

He leaned down slightly, bringing his face closer, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “How about you poke my face too?”

He loved teasing her.

Shu Mian paused, then bit her lip. “Do you think I wouldn’t dare?”

That’s what she said, but just thinking about poking his face made her fingertips tremble.

She didn’t want to back down, so she took the opportunity to reach out and touch the top of his head.

Soft strands of hair brushed against her palm, like a butterfly gently fluttering on her heart, tickling her and making her tremble uncontrollably.

Tan Xuzhe paused for a moment, then raised an eyebrow at her, “Petting the dog?”

“…”

Meeting his ambiguous gaze, Shu Mian quickly withdrew her hand.

It seems… things are getting a little ambiguous.

Tan Xuzhe found this girl quite interesting. If you said she was timid, she would occasionally reach out her paw to tentatively scratch you. If you said she was bold, she would just glance at you and immediately shrink back into her burrow like a frightened rabbit.

Seeing the blush on her face, he smiled with pleasure, “Shu Mianmian, your face is so red.”

“…”

“I’m naturally prone to blushing.”

Shu Mian tried hard to appear calm, puffing out her cheeks as she said, “Tan Xuzhe, your ears are quite red too.”

“Oh, really?”

Tan Xuzhe was quite frank, with a roguish smile on his lips, and slowly said, “Maybe I’m just shy. After all, it’s the first time I’ve poked a little girl’s face, and it’s also the first time a little girl has touched my head.”

“…”

Has he never poked other girls’ faces? Has he never let other girls touch his head?

The little deer in her heart was running wild.

As soon as the two stepped out of the teaching building, Shu Mian received a phone call from Fang Yao: “Mian Mian, haven’t you finished your meeting yet?”

“Just finished, what’s wrong?” she asked softly, holding her phone. “Is there anything I need to bring?”

Fang Yao said excitedly, “No, someone set up candles and balloons downstairs of our dormitory. They must be confessing their love. We were still guessing who it was.”

“Just now, Yiyi received a call from Fu Xingfan, asking her to come downstairs and reminding her to dress nicely. Didn’t Yiyi say before that confessions need a sense of ceremony? So I guess Fu Xingfan is going to formally confess his feelings.”

“Yiyi is still dawdling over choosing her clothes. Hurry back, and you can still join the atmosphere-building team!”

Upon hearing this, Shu Mian quickly replied, “Okay, I understand. I’m on my way and will be back soon.”

After hanging up the phone, she was about to ask Tan Xuzhe which dormitory building he lived in, wondering if they were going the same way.

“Let’s go, I’ll take you back to your dorm.” He spoke first, still holding her bag in his hand.

Shu Mian smiled and said softly, “Okay.”

She was rushing back to be part of the atmosphere-building team, so she walked quite fast and didn’t talk much on the way.

When she got to the dormitory building, she found that the entrance was decorated with candles, balloons, and flower petals.

A crowd of onlookers surrounded them. Fu Xingfan stood in the center of the crowd, holding a bouquet of flowers, while Song Yiyi stood in front of him.

“Wow, so many people.” Shu Mian stood on tiptoe to look around, but couldn’t quite hear what they were saying from the outer edge of the crowd.

Tan Xuzhe noticed her bright eyes and casually asked, “Do you like this way of confessing your feelings?”

“I don’t like it.” Shu Mian shook her head honestly.

The boy hummed in response, his voice deep and resonant, “Okay.”

Okay?

What did he mean by okay?

Just then, the people in front suddenly started chanting, “Get together! Get together!”

Shu Mian hadn’t quite heard the word “okay” clearly just now, so she turned her head to look at him.

Tan Xuzhe raised an eyebrow. “Why are you looking at me? Why don’t you join in the shouting?”

“…”

Did she mishear?

At this moment, Song Yiyi and Fu Xingfan hugged each other.

The onlookers started chanting again, “Kiss! Kiss!”

“What are you doing? You should be careful how you confess your feelings! What if these candles catch fire?”

The dormitory supervisor suddenly appeared out of nowhere and shouted through a megaphone.

Fu Xingfan quickly explained, “Auntie, these are candle lamps, not real candles, so it won’t catch fire.”

“Okay, then you two continue. Remember to clean up the mess on the floor after you’re done kissing.”

A burst of laughter immediately erupted from the surrounding area.

“When people confess their love, they’re all in pairs. What are you all grinning about?”

“…”
