Fan Yi wanted to step forward to stop him, but suddenly stopped.

If an ordinary person had said this, Fan Yi would have thought he was crazy, but this person was such a mysterious big shot! Doing something like this couldn’t have been a spur-of-the-moment decision; it was something carefully considered!

Gu Wuji, wielding a kitchen knife, fiercely slashed at the surrounding mirrors. His movements were fluid and graceful; although there wasn’t much killing intent, the deep resentment on the knife was enough to terrify even the ghosts in the mirrors.

While excited, Fan Yi couldn’t help but feel that if he didn’t know Gu Wuji, he would have thought Gu Wuji was the boss of this dungeon…

With the crisp sound of shattering mirrors, Fan Yi suddenly snapped back to reality. He stood up in horror. Most of the surrounding mirrors were now broken, and countless black mists poured out. The space they were in had become a ghost cave, with ghosts stirring restlessly, about to completely surround them— then a flash of white light appeared, and not only the ghosts, but even most of the black mist dissipated.

The two brothers were stunned, and it took them a while to realize that Gu Wuji had used the purification spell again! They had seen it used once before, but this time it was still incredibly shocking… It was practically like using cheat codes to clear a dungeon! It made them regret not learning the purification spell from the start.

Then they saw Gu Wuji’s figure stop in front of a mirror. The reflection wasn’t of anyone outside, but a strange and ferocious face.

“It’s that mirror!” Fan Yi blurted out.

The next moment, Gu Wuji suddenly disappeared into the mirror.

Gu Wuji was very familiar with this process; he already knew the ghost’s background and weaknesses, and with the mark of the evil god, the ghost could only obediently follow orders.

The two brothers held their breath outside, tense for a long time, only to see Gu Wuji emerge nonchalantly.

“How did it go?”

“It’s fine.” Gu Wuji nodded.

This must mean he’d cleared the dungeon! The two brothers clapped their hands excitedly, then looked at Gu Wuji gratefully. They knew very well that without Gu Wuji, they would have already died here.

Gu Wuji didn’t mention that the ghost in the mirror was also obediently following his orders, as this fact would seem too shocking to other players…

“Actually, we’ve wanted to contact you for a long time!”

“If possible, please let us follow you! Even if it’s just for a short time, it doesn’t matter.”

The two brothers spoke cautiously, afraid that Gu Wuji would refuse.

Gu Wuji was somewhat surprised, then nodded, “That’s no problem. But I have other goals in this instance, not just to leave it. You need to be mentally prepared.”

“Yes!” The two brothers’ eyes lit up, their hearts filled with excitement. As for what Gu Wuji was going to do, they had no idea. How could they possibly know the thoughts of such a powerful figure?

“Of course, I will also guarantee that as long as you listen to me, if I can leave this instance, you can leave it too.” Gu Wuji still didn’t make his statement too absolute.

Given his current precarious situation, he might be devoured by the ghost or evil boss within his body, leaving him no chance to save others, let alone his own. Gu Wuji wasn’t going to give anyone false hope.

The two brothers naturally had no objections; in fact, they were already surprised that Gu Wuji promised to take them away. After all, someone of Gu Wuji’s strength wouldn’t lie to them in such a place, meaning what he said must be true!

This was something even those who came in groups wouldn’t dare to promise.

….

What happened next completely stunned all the high-level players in the instance.

These high-level players were originally struggling with the difficulties of the trial… but Gu Wuji appeared and easily solved the problem, as if he were on a completely different level from them!

Gu Wuji even had two followers behind him, looking extremely obsequious. Gu Wuji himself accepted this naturally; he already had too many followers.

By this time, the others had deeply realized Gu Wuji’s astonishing strength. They even began to feel jealousy and resentment towards Fan Yi and Fan Er. Why is it that these two, who were all equally incompetent before, managed to curry favor with Gu Wuji? And Gu Wuji, such a powerful figure, actually seemed quite friendly towards them, not like someone who would exploit others.

If they had known this beforehand, they would have rushed to cling to him too!

Everything was going so smoothly it was almost abnormal. Before long, Gu Wuji had passed all the tests from the ghosts in the casino.

Now everyone was gathered in the final test, the haunted casino hall. Of course, Gu Wuji had already completed this test.

The two men who had previously kept the ghosts were released by the portrait ghost. They seemed to have aged twenty years in the portrait, trembling at the sight of Gu Wuji, muttering vows of never doing bad things again.

The others were shocked by the sight of the two men. What had they gone through to turn these two seasoned high-level players into this state?

This was only the surface situation; in reality, these ghosts had obediently decided to become Gu Wuji’s underlings, even revealing everything they knew. Gu Wuji now seemed to know everything about the casino.

[Mission Completed: Control the ghosts that appear during the five nights of ghostly trials.]

[Hidden Mission Progress Update—]

[Clearly, you have also discovered something strange about this casino during these trials.]

As these words echoed in the ears of all the players, the entire casino began to collapse from the surrounding area, with a deafening roar.

Strangely, apart from these sounds, not a single scream was heard, as if the large number of living people in the casino had never existed. Only the chosen successor candidates fled in panic. They had been hiding in safe places waiting for the trials to end, thus avoiding being crushed by the collapsing buildings.

“As expected, there are only a few living people in this casino.”

The group had probably anticipated this, given their extensive experience with the game. They even suspected that these potential successors might not be alive.

For a moment, it seemed only the main hall was safe. Aside from the fanatical player who had suddenly attacked Gu Wuji, and the ghost of Austin, whose whereabouts were unknown, everyone else had gathered there.

They could still see their own reflections in the mirrors, but soon, a crisp cracking sound rang out.

Realizing the impending danger, they immediately grabbed their most prized items.

[Due to various reasons, this space can no longer sustain itself. And the casino’s owner has finally appeared before you.]

The group exchanged glances, their gazes finally settling on an ordinary middle-aged man with brown hair. This was the employer of the three ghost-raising trio. He stood up, his body twisted beyond recognition, a sinister and grotesque smile on his face.

The once menacing trio now huddled together, trembling.

“I didn’t expect you to pass all the tests so quickly,” the middle-aged man sneered. “Challenging my position won’t be so easy. You’ll all perish here!”

“According to the rules, the employer of someone who passes five tests is already the heir, right? That’s all I learned here,” Gu Wuji said, and Nelson behind him nodded, still shaken.

Nelson was completely bewildered and confused. He didn’t know what was going on. He thought he knew everything… but things had drastically changed. And he was just going to win by default because Gu Wuji had mysteriously chosen him?! How could this kind of situation, where a pretty boy latches onto a powerful figure, happen to a young master like him?

“But you, the first head of Nelson’s family, are the owner of this casino,” Gu Wuji said.

“What?!” The other heir candidates were stunned.

“It was a scam from the very beginning. You gained power from the casino and came to the outside world, establishing a family, but you were unwilling to relinquish that power, so you tried every means to bring the casino under your control.”

Gu Wuji recounted everything he had heard from these ghosts: “Perhaps due to some rule, your body will still age, and your power will slowly dissipate. So you selected several candidates from your family and brought them to the casino, ostensibly to give them the position of master, but in reality, it’s just to let you occupy their bodies, while you leave this place as the new family head!”

“From the very beginning, you were the only one who left this casino.”

As for this casino, it was a bizarre place that trapped all kinds of ghosts; everyone else was already under a curse from the moment they entered. And this curse would dedicate all the ghosts’ power to their so-called master.

As for the very beginning, perhaps it was something some evil god boss just randomly created.

“That’s right.” The middle-aged man sneered. “Indeed, but so what? I’m just making reasonable use of the casino’s rules. Besides, even if you think the winner should be Nelson—”

His words abruptly ended, and his body collapsed to the ground, completely lifeless.

Then, Nelson, standing behind Gu Wuji, twisted his face, quickly revealing the expression of the family head. “I can occupy the bodies of any of the successor candidates here at will. What can you do then?”

All the successor candidates looked grim; they hadn’t expected to be nothing more than the family head’s spare bodies.

“It’s not that I’m unaware of your rules,” the family head said slowly and methodically to Gu Wuji, his tone full of persuasion. “Although you’re very capable, passing these tests so quickly, you won’t fare well against me. Why don’t you leave this casino with me? That way, we can both achieve our goals… As for the others, you players don’t seem to have any real feelings for each other anyway.”

As soon as he said this, everyone held their breath. They all knew that if Gu Wuji chose to leave with the family head, there was nothing they could do about the outcome. Honestly, if they were in this situation, they certainly wouldn’t want to cause any more trouble and would simply leave the instance.

Did they all have to die here?

Gu Wuji looked at the family head and shook his head.

“What you say makes a lot of sense, but I’ve decided to let everyone leave this world. I also promised Nelson I’d make him the family head, so I won’t leave with you.”

Hearing Gu Wuji’s words, even the possessed Nelson was deeply moved. His favorability rating was practically out of control.

[Side Quest: Protect the rich young master. Increase his favorability, make those around him believe the player is deeply in love with the young master, and finally choose to break up when the favorability reaches its limit.]

[Quest Progress: Young Master Nelson’s current favorability is 100.]

Gu Wuji: “…” It seems that although Nelson is possessed, his own consciousness is still intact. In that case, this ridiculous quest should be achievable.

Even though the situation is very risky, Gu Wuji doesn’t know if his plan will succeed, or if he can save his life. But he was a perfectionist; once he received a mission, he had to complete it here!

So Gu Wuji took a deep breath, looking at the ‘Nelson’ before him, his eyes softening with tenderness and affection.

“Actually, I’ve had something I wanted to tell you for a while now.”

Everyone was stunned by this sudden change. What was going on? Just moments ago, the atmosphere was tense; why did it suddenly turn into a romance drama?

Even the patriarch possessing Nelson’s body was dumbfounded. He had never encountered anything like this in all his years of life!
