For Gu Wuji, things went exceptionally smoothly.

He easily found the test location: the casino’s kitchen.

After Gu Wuji took out his chips, they vanished from his hand, and the surrounding atmosphere instantly changed. The once bright kitchen became dim, and the pristine walls were stained with blood-like marks.

A tap somewhere was still dripping water, giving a cool feeling.

Gu Wuji was quite confident about the test, after all, it was cooking, something he was very interested in.

Then, a dark figure appeared in a corner, holding a gleaming cleaver. Each step it took almost made the ground tremble. Most terrifying was its face, adorned with several pieces of flesh, and its body, dressed in chef’s attire, was extremely muscular.

Undoubtedly, this was a vengeful ghost that no player dared to provoke.

It coldly looked at Gu Wuji, completely disregarding this seemingly ordinary human, and stated its requirements for the dish in a hoarse voice before pushing open the door to a storeroom.

The warehouse was clearly not the original kitchen storage room; it was incredibly dark and gloomy, emanating an extremely strong yin energy, and one could vaguely see countless ghostly figures within. Finding dishes that would satisfy a vengeful ghost’s demands in such an environment was far too difficult.

Moreover, there was a hidden difficulty in this trial: the vengeful ghost’s dislikes, which could only be discovered by investigating elsewhere.

Watching Gu Wuji slowly walk into the warehouse, the vengeful ghost’s face twisted into a chilling smile. When it made its request, it had specifically mentioned food it disliked… anyway, the rules didn’t say that was forbidden. It had also been starving for a long time, so trying this human shouldn’t be a problem.

In fact, that’s what it thought. But less than a few minutes later, the door was pushed open again, and Gu Wuji walked out with a smile on his face. Forget about the disheveled appearance of being chased by ghosts; there wasn’t even a speck of dust on his clothes.

The vengeful ghost: “???”

It glanced inside the door and was shocked to see that the warehouse, previously shrouded in ghostly shadows, was now completely empty. The yin energy had almost entirely dissipated, even giving off a refreshing feeling.

Looking closer, it saw that Gu Wuji was still holding a kitchen knife filled with the resentment of ghosts (actually, Gu Wuji was just holding it for convenience when preparing ingredients). The vengeful ghost seemed to have a clue what had happened in the warehouse.

If it were still alive, its face would surely be covered in cold sweat.

Gu Wuji, having just purified a warehouse full of ghosts and gained another wave of bargaining chips, and even receiving the ingredients specified by the vengeful ghost, was in a good mood and asked the vengeful ghost, “I’ve got the ingredients, can we start cooking?”

“Y-Of course!” the vengeful ghost immediately replied, its attitude completely different from before. Even as a vengeful ghost, it wouldn’t dare offend someone like this!

The vengeful ghost even offered its kitchen knife to Gu Wuji, saying, “This one’s for you too, it’s incredibly sharp.” It had completely abandoned any thoughts of eating people; getting rid of this big shot as quickly as possible was the most important thing.

“Oh, okay,” Gu Wuji nodded to the ghost, finding it surprisingly friendly, a stark contrast to the ferocious image the portrait ghost had portrayed him as.

….

And so, this became the scene the two players witnessed.

The ghost wasn’t menacing towards Gu Wuji at all; instead, it was incredibly friendly, even casually eating the gruesome-looking dish.

Frankly, the dish itself was terrifying to the two players, but what truly shocked them was Gu Wuji’s incredible power!

“Let’s hurry! Before he discovers us.”

“Yes, yes, someone this powerful is far too dangerous.”

The two had already decided that from now on, they would avoid Gu Wuji no matter what.

….

As the system notification of success rang out, the chef’s ghost seemed to sense something and breathed a sigh of relief, eager to send Gu Wuji away quickly.

“Before I leave, I have something to do,” Gu Wuji said, not forgetting his most important task.

“Wh-what…” The chef’s ghost trembled with fear.

Gu Wuji extended his hand, immediately displaying the back of his hand to the ghost. He took a deep breath, never imagining he would one day have to forcibly awaken this mark.

Although the process was unfamiliar, it wasn’t difficult. Soon, the mark on Gu Wuji’s hand lit up, and as if in response, the chef’s ghost also emitted the light of its mark.

It stared at Gu Wuji with eyes practically popping out of its head, its legs trembling. An instinctive subconscious obedience welled up within it, filling it with boundless respect for Gu Wuji, and it immediately knelt before him.

At this moment, the chef’s ghost was incredibly grateful for its earlier good attitude; otherwise, how could it survive if it had offended Gu Wuji!

Gu Wuji was astonished. He could already sense a faint connection between himself and the vengeful ghost before him. Although it wasn’t particularly powerful, the ghost seemed to obey his commands. Was this mark really that strong…?

In reality, even with a mark, many believers, while obedient, might harbor resentment, preventing perfect obedience. But Gu Wuji had already terrified the chef ghost, and this step was incredibly smooth, easily replacing the casino owner’s control over the chef ghost.

“What are your orders?” the chef ghost asked respectfully.

“Nothing much, I just wanted to ask if there was any more detailed information about this hotel and the other trials…” Gu Wuji firmly believed that knowing oneself and one’s enemy was the key to victory. Even with a mark like a cheat code, it was still safer to know more.

The chef ghost, of course, quickly explained everything in great detail, eager to cling to Gu Wuji’s coattails. It had already realized that something earth-shattering was about to happen in this casino!

—Somewhere in the casino.

The Fan brothers, Fan Yi and Fan Er, were observing their surroundings with grim expressions.

They were standing in a corridor covered with countless mirrors on both sides, the ceiling, and the floor, reflecting overlapping images that were dazzling to the eye.

Their chosen test for the night was a test involving mirrors. After finding a well-hidden, bloodstained mirror and handing over their chips, the two entered this eerie space.

“Be careful, one of these mirrors doesn’t reflect our faces. We have to find that mirror…”

The test sounded simple: find the face that wasn’t yours, smash the mirror, and you could leave successfully.

But in reality, it was extremely difficult. There were simply too many mirrors; even advanced players would struggle to distinguish them. Moreover, many people weren’t truly familiar with their own faces.

Even more dangerous was the fact that every second spent in this space brought more danger; countless ghosts hidden within these mirrors were trying to pull people in.

The two had been inside for quite some time, and after being entangled with the ghost for so long, they were physically and mentally exhausted, yet they were still unable to leave.

“Damn it, why is it so hard to find?” Cold sweat streamed down Fan Yi’s face. He wiped it away and turned to ask his brother how the observation was going, only to see his brother’s body half-pulled into the mirror.

Fan Yi quickly took out a prop and smashed the mirror in front of him, freeing his brother. But because of this, countless yin energies spread out from the broken mirror, making the entire room even darker, with countless black wisps floating in the mirror, making it even harder to find the target.

Fan Er was already unconscious and completely useless.

“Damn it… are we just supposed to sit here and wait to die?” He tried to resist, but his body was exhausted, and he collapsed to the ground.

But there was another mirror on the ground, and a hand emerged from it, about to grab the two of them—

“This is it.” A familiar voice rang out.

With that voice, the hand in the mirror suddenly disappeared. Fan Yi looked down and saw this scene, realizing that a crisis had been resolved invisibly.

Fan Yi breathed a sigh of relief and turned to look. He saw Gu Wuji, whom the two brothers were so eager to befriend, walk out of the broken mirror as if nothing had happened.

“You… how did you get here?”

Gu Wuji shook his head. “It’s nothing. Now we should hurry up and figure out how to get out of here.”

How he got here was simple. After all, Gu Wuji had just dealt with the chef’s ghost and asked him for a favor. The ghost had brought him here and also explained the various weaknesses of the mirror ghost.

Of course, Gu Wuji wasn’t afraid. He had experienced the mirror world before and even had a good relationship with Cheng Jia, the ghost (Gu Wuji thought so). He was experienced and naturally very calm.

“Hmm.” Fan Yi knew that such an expert must have many secrets. He looked at Gu Wuji with gratitude in his eyes. “Thank you for what happened earlier. Be careful too. This place is not simple.”

“I know.” Gu Wuji walked over and looked around. He looked at all the reflections in the mirrors, giving him a chilling feeling of being stared at by countless eyes.

Fan Yi couldn’t help but speak up, “We’ve been searching for ages and still can’t find that strange mirror. I think it’s probably hidden somewhere.”

“You’re right. But I’ve also thought of a way,” Gu Wuji said.

“What are you going to do?” Fan Yi looked at Gu Wuji excitedly. He was finally going to see such a master solve a problem with his intelligence!

Fan Er also slowly woke up at this moment. Although he didn’t quite understand what had happened, having experienced countless dungeons, he guessed the situation pretty much the moment he saw Gu Wuji.

“Anyway, the requirement is to break that strange mirror… In that case, why not just break all the mirrors?” Gu Wuji said, turning to Fan Yi and Fan Er with a very friendly smile.

Fan Er was still not fully awake, and immediately returned Gu Wuji’s silly smile, flattered.

Only Fan Yi was so shocked that he loosened his grip and dropped his younger brother to the ground.
