The two walked along the beach under the lights for a while before returning to the hotel to prepare for dinner.

The moment Yan Qingchi entered the hotel, he was greeted by a dazzling display of fairy lights.

Inside the dimly lit hotel, heart-shaped candles formed a heart shape, the hotel trees were adorned with dazzling lights, along with sparklers and fairy lights, on which warm-toned bulbs twinkled. And the sound of piano music drifted from afar.

Yan Qingchi turned to Jiang Mochen, “Is this what you were talking about when you mentioned having something to take care of at the front desk?”

Jiang Mochen smiled, pulling him across the candlelight and towards the restaurant.

The restaurant was already decorated, a sea of blue and white roses. As Yan Qingchi passed by, he casually picked a white rose, sniffed it gently, and said, “It still smells nice.”

Jiang Mochen led him to a table, where the candlelight flickered on either side of them, casting an indistinct glow on both of them.

A waiter brought in a cake and placed it between them on the table.

Jiang Mochen looked at Yan Qingchi, “Make a wish, then blow out the candles.”

Yan Qingchi looked at the cake in front of him, a square shape, seemingly chocolate flavored, covered with a layer of chocolate shavings, and topped with two sugar figurines.

Yan Qingchi reached out and picked up the sugar figurines, examining them closely, thinking they were probably modelled after him and Jiang Mochen.

He asked, “Do you want to eat these too?”

“You can keep them if you want.”

“Then I’ll keep them.” Yan Qingchi placed the sugar figurines on a plate, earnestly clasped his hands together, and made a wish.

His wish wasn’t big; he hoped his family could always be healthy, successful, happy, and peaceful. He also hoped that he and Jiang Mochen could always be this happy and together.

After making his wish, Yan Qingchi blew out the candles, picked up the cake knife, and cut the cake in front of him into two pieces, handing one to Jiang Mochen and keeping the other for himself.

He took a bite with his fork, and Jiang Mochen asked him, “Is it good?”

Yan Qingchi nodded, “Not bad.”

Jiang Mochen smiled, “You guessed something wrong just now.”

“What?” Yan Qingchi put down his fork and looked at him.

Jiang Mochen said gently, “The hotel’s decor wasn’t the only thing I dealt with with the front desk; it was the cake in front of you.”

Yan Qingchi was a little surprised, “When did you learn to bake cakes?”

“When I planned all of this.”

“You really have impressed me.” Yan Qingchi exclaimed, “When I first met you, you couldn’t do anything. Now, you can not only cook, but you can also bake cakes. You’re really amazing.”

Jiang Mochen smiled and lowered his head without saying anything.

After a while, the waiters brought in the main courses one after another.

Jiang Mochen said with some regret, “I originally wanted to make all of these for you, but I didn’t have time, so I only made you a cake.”

“Making just a cake is fine.” Yan Qingchi was very satisfied. “If you spend all your time cooking, who will accompany me to watch the sea? Besides,” Yan Qingchi looked at him, “you still have a lot of time, you can slowly cook for me, I’ll eat it eventually.”

Jiang Mochen always liked his unconscious gentleness and thoughtfulness, and nodded gently, “Mmm.”

Yan Qingchi looked at the restaurant’s decorations, and thought about the hotel and beach decorations, feeling that he must have put a lot of thought and patience into the design and rehearsals. This level of painstaking effort made him feel a little touched, and also felt that it was not easy. He picked up his red wine and clinked glasses with Jiang Mochen, “Come on, let’s clink glasses to celebrate my birthday today, and that you proposed successfully today.”

Jiang Mochen picked up his wine glass and clinked glasses with him, “I have a gift for you.”

“What?” Yan Qingchi asked him.

Jiang Mochen had the waiter bring over a beautifully wrapped, flat, rectangular box. Yan Qingchi took it and immediately wanted to open it, but Jiang Mochen stopped him.

“Let’s open it when we get back to the room,” Jiang Mochen said.

Hearing this, Yan Qingchi obediently placed the box on the table to the side, puzzled, “What kind of gift is this? It’s so mysterious.”

“You’ll find out when you open it.”

“Okay.”

The two ate together and then went back to the room. The moment he opened the door, although Yan Qingchi had a premonition, he was still pleasantly surprised to see the room full of roses.

He walked into the bedroom and saw that the bed was covered with rose petals.

Yan Qingchi turned to look at Jiang Mochen, “Do you think this is a honeymoon? A honeymoon hotel?”

Jiang Mochen hugged him, “It’s not impossible.”

“We’re taking a step too far. We haven’t even had a wedding yet, what honeymoon?”

“Soon,” Jiang Mochen looked at him, “Once we go public, we’ll have the wedding. This time, I’ll let you choose the date. Pick a date you like.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

Yan Qingchi was a little happy, “Then I’ll have to choose carefully.”

“Okay.”

“By the way,” Yan Qingchi looked at the flat gift box in his hand, and reached out to unwrap the packaging as he had wrapped it, “Let me see what you gave me.”

Jiang Mochen slowly released his arms from holding him and quietly looked at him.

Yan Qingchi unwrapped the outer packaging, then opened the white box and found a document bag. He looked at Jiang Mochen with some confusion. Jiang Mochen gestured for him to open it. Yan Qingchi tore it open and found a stack of papers. He picked them up and looked at them, then was stunned. “A share transfer agreement for Nancheng?”

He looked at Jiang Mochen. “You’re transferring Nancheng’s shares to me?”

“Not all of them, just a small portion. Even if I transfer them to you, I’ll still be the largest shareholder.”

“But why to me?” Yan Qingchi asked, puzzled.

Although he always liked to say that he owned half of Nancheng’s assets, that was just a joke between spouses; he had never really wanted Nancheng’s assets.

Jiang Mochen looked at him. “Didn’t you pay me back the money you owed me before?”

Yan Qingchi nodded.

Jiang Mochen then said gently, “And didn’t we agree before that we don’t need to worry about these things? So I added a little more to this amount and gave you some of my Nancheng shares as a birthday gift.”

Yan Qingchi frowned and said softly, “I don’t want this.”

“Why?” Jiang Mochen asked him, “Are you afraid people will say you’re with me for these things, or do you not want to be involved with me financially?”

“Nancheng is your company, it’s your creation. I haven’t done anything for it, so I don’t have the right to own it.”

“Then are you willing to do something for it?” Jiang Mochen asked him.

“Of course.”

Jiang Mochen put his arm around him and sat down on the bed with him, slowly saying, “Qingchi, you can see from my work schedule this year that I’ve devoted more time to Nancheng and Jiang Group, so I haven’t taken on many acting roles. This is a signal that one day I will have to completely leave this industry, not now, of course.” He smiled slightly, “But that day will come. However at that time, who will stay in this industry to help Nancheng discover talent and better mentor newcomers?”

“Nancheng has so many artists, so many top-tier celebrities, but their relationship with Nancheng is purely collaborative. They have no obligation or responsibility to use their own development to propel Nancheng to perpetual success. Everyone’s rise to fame is hard-won. As a company, of course we hope for a diverse and vibrant industry, but as individuals, who doesn’t want to stand out? So, of Nancheng’s many artists, anyone can be a hope for the company, but only you are Nancheng’s future. Only you will stand from Nancheng’s perspective after I leave this industry, hoping it can continue to be glorious. Only you, do you understand?”

Yan Qingchi asked: “You want me to become the second you?”

Jiang Mochen held his hand. “I didn’t actually have this thought before, not before I met you, and not after I met you. At first, I just thought that by the time I left, Nancheng should have established itself, and its artists should have a certain status in the industry, and that would be enough. I tried to find someone to succeed me, but I felt they weren’t suitable, so I had already given up. But that day, on the set of ‘The Jianghu in the Mist,’ I heard your conversation with Su Qing, and I suddenly felt that you were actually the most suitable candidate, weren’t you?”

“So, I want to give Nancheng to you. Unlike Jiang Group, Nancheng is something I developed from scratch. It belongs to me; it’s my proudest personal achievement. I’m giving it to you; because I want you to walk forward with me. Are you willing?”

Yan Qingchi was somewhat moved and shocked at the same time. He hadn’t expected Jiang Mochen to say such things to him, nor had he expected Jiang Mochen to place such high expectations on him.

When he first entered the entertainment industry, it was simply a matter of following the trend, given his original identity. At that time, he only wanted to make money, pay off his debt to Jiang Mochen, and accumulate more wealth. Later, as they grew closer, he wanted to stand openly by Jiang Mochen’s side, so he aspired to achieve greater success and recognition. Now, Jiang Mochen had given him Nancheng, hoping he could fight alongside him. While touched by Jiang Mochen’s trust, he also felt an unconscious pressure.

“I’ve never worked in the entertainment industry before, and my personality isn’t as composed as yours. Of course, I’m willing to walk this path with you, but I might need your guidance.”

“Of course,” Jiang Mochen smiled at him. “You’ve only been in the industry for a few years, so you definitely don’t know as much as I do. Once you’ve been in this industry for a few more years, you’ll understand.”

“Actually, I don’t have that much to do, right?” Yan Qingchi thought for a moment. “Selecting people, solidifying my position, mentoring newcomers— that’s about it.”

“Right.”

“It’s roughly like I’m in charge of external affairs, and you’re in charge of internal affairs.”

“If you’re willing, you can also be in charge of internal affairs.”

“Then let’s divide the work. I don’t want to argue with you about work.”

“I won’t,” Jiang Mochen looked at him. “I won’t argue with you about this kind of thing.”

“That’s not necessarily true.”

“You need to understand, Nancheng is just the result of my years of hard work, but I have much more than just Nancheng. I have the Jiang family behind me. But you’re different. I only have you; there’s nothing else behind me.”

Yan Qingchi looked at him, somewhat proudly. “That’s why I’m more important than Nancheng.”

“I can give you Nancheng, but I won’t sacrifice you for Nancheng.”
