Si Huang didn’t know how long she had slept. She was woken up by a slight movement from the person next to her. She and the others got out of bed quietly and slowly opened her eyes.
She reached out and touched her neck. Qin Fan seemed to have put something around her neck. She touched it and found it was a beast tooth pendant wrapped in special metal.
She suddenly remembered the gift she had asked Qin Fan for when he went to Africa last time. Because of everything that had happened in between, she had completely forgotten about it and naturally hadn’t asked Qin Fan for it. She hadn’t expected him to remember.
“Swish—” A sound came from inside her clothes, and Si Huang put the pendant back in and sat up to look at the source of the sound.
She saw that Qin Fan had just opened the curtains, letting in the dim light. Si Huang could tell at a glance that it was still only early morning.
“…” The shirtless man standing by the glass turned and looked at Si Huang. “There’s still some time before sunrise.”
“Then I’ll go wash my face first.” Si Huang got up.
Her natural attitude made Qin Fan feel at ease. It was the first time he had ever waited specifically for someone to watch the sunrise, and he was a little unaccustomed to it.
After Si Huang finished washing up and changing into the clothes she had bought at the supermarket yesterday, Qin Fan walked towards her and put his arm around her.
The two sat together on the ground waiting for the sunrise. Si Huang leaned on his shoulder and asked, “How long will you stay in Italy this time?”
“It depends.” Qin Fan noticed that Si Huang seemed quite concerned about this, so he gave a more precise answer, “Ten days to half a month if everything goes smoothly.”
If things didn’t go smoothly, it could be any number of days, and they could even lose their lives. That’s how dangerous their line of work was.
Si Huang knew this in her heart. “If there’s anything I can help with, remember to tell me.”
“Just don’t get involved, that’s the biggest help you can give me,” Qin Fan said. As soon as he said this, Si Huang’s expression changed.
She knew that Qin Fan’s words came from concern, but a surge of anger still welled up inside her.
The source of this anger was a panic that Si Huang herself could hardly control.
Because she remembered that Qin Fan had died even earlier than her, in the middle of a mission, on foreign soil, and his body was never found.
She always wanted to know the details of Qin Fan’s mission, and wanted to help in some way. Wasn’t it because, as their relationship deepened, this knot in her heart became increasingly difficult to untie?
“The less involved you are in this matter, the better,” Qin Fan noticed her change and explained gently.
“Mm,” Si Huang replied without saying much, lowering her eyes to conceal her emotions.
The first rays of dawn shone through the glass, their warm and bright light dispelling the gloom in Si Huang’s heart. She smiled again, her eyes shining brightly.
In this life, she would not only change her own destiny but also Qin Fan’s. Being sentimental here was pointless.
Only after the sun had fully risen did Si Huang turn on her newly bought phone, and then she received a series of messages.
Yu Xi, Xiao Jin, and Finn had all sent messages. She glanced at them briefly and felt that she had been incredibly lazy this time.
However, she didn’t regret it; the day spent with her lover, Qin Fan, had been very pleasant and comfortable. With a good mood and spirit, she could naturally do better at work; proper relaxation was necessary.
“It’s time to go back,” Si Huang said to Qin Fan.
“Okay.” Qin Fan stood up. “Wait for me.”
He went to the bathroom to change, and after tidying up, he took Si Huang out of the room.
To Si Huang’s surprise, they went to the underground parking garage. Qin Fan tossed her a helmet and let her get on a motorcycle.
“There’s another, faster route back to your workplace from here,” Qin Fan explained as he got on the bike.
Si Huang sat on the back. “When did you prepare this?”
“Early this morning.”
“Isn’t it morning now?
He probably planned this much earlier.
Si Huang reached out and hugged the man’s waist, laughing, “Let’s go then.”
The motorcycle roared and sped off.
The journey was just as long as the way there. Si Huang took out her phone and sent Yu Xi a message saying she’d be right back, not finding the passing scenery boring.
Upon arriving at the entrance to the hotel for the “The Fang of Time” film crew, Si Huang said goodbye to Qin Fan, tossing her helmet into his arms. “See you again sometime.”
“Okay.” Qin Fan watched her go inside.
After she was out of sight, Qin Fan’s phone rang. The man leaned against the motorcycle, took off his helmet, his black hair slightly damp from being covered for hours.
“Hello.”
“Boss, you successfully escorted your wife back to the hotel. Are you coming back now?” Guo Chengxiong, who was in charge of persuading Qin Fan to return to work, asked.
“Wait, I have some things to do,” Qin Fan said.
Guo Chengxiong suppressed his curiosity and didn’t ask what it was about. “I also have something to tell the boss first.”
“Hmm?” Qin Fan gestured for him to speak.
Guo Chengxiong: “Xiao Qi came over last night, but the boss wasn’t here, so he’s with us now.”
“…” Qin Fan was in a rare good mood this morning. After a two-second silence, he said, “Tell him to wait.”
“Don’t worry, boss! We’ll keep an eye on him!” Guo Chengxiong was prepared to redeem himself.
After hanging up the phone, Qin Fan sent a message to Dou Wenqing, “Come out and settle the bill.”
Not long after, Dou Wenqing sent an address.
Qin Fan put his helmet back on, mounted his motorcycle, and drove towards the address on his phone.
Meanwhile, Si Huang had just entered the hotel when she saw not only Yu Xi in the lobby, but also Lei Qie sitting on the sofa, watching a video on a tablet. It was unclear whether he was waiting for someone or just bored.
As Si Huang approached, Lei Qie noticed her arrival even faster than Yu Xi. When Si Huang looked up, she saw that his tablet was playing “Red Moon.”
Si Huang merely raised an eyebrow slightly at this guy suddenly watching a drama she starred in, without saying anything more. Her gaze naturally returned to Yu Xi, noticing that in just one night, the young manager’s eyes were puffy and dark circles were prominent. “How long were you busy yesterday?”
Yu Xi wanted to complain, but with outsiders present, he maintained an elite demeanor, indicating he was fine. But an outsider chimed in, “Definitely busier than you were out fooling around with your lover.”
“Mr. Lei, please don’t spread rumors about Si Huang,” Yu Xi said politely to Lei Qie.
Lei Qie glanced at him sideways. “I’m speaking up for you, and you don’t even appreciate it.”
“Thank you, this work is simply my job,” Yu Xi adjusted his glasses.
Lei Qie rolled his eyes, crossed his legs, and stared at Si Huang, saying, “You were in such a rush to pick someone up yesterday that you didn’t get back until this morning. You even changed your clothes! And what’s that rope around your neck? A Valentine’s Day gift? It’s obvious you went on a date. Only a fool would believe your lie about not having a lover.”
“So what if I did?” Si Huang responded calmly to Lei Qie’s analysis. Before he could say anything more, a wicked glint appeared in his eyes. “It was quite a pleasant night.”
“…” Lei Qie was left speechless at Si Huang’s blatant boasting.
Yu Xi adjusted his glasses, thinking that Si Huang really knew how to deal with people. But if this got out, it would be headline news back home.
Speaking of headlines, if he wasn’t mistaken about the timing, the “Infinite Collapse” series in China was probably already at the final “Werewolf” game stage, right?
Yu Xi stared at Si Huang’s fair face, utterly unable to imagine the audience’s reaction at the end.
“You guys are up early.” Xiao Jin’s voice came with a series of footsteps.
The crew of “The Fang of Time” arrived in a large group.
Xiao Jin glanced at Si Huang and Lei Qie, and seeing that their atmosphere was alright and there was no tense confrontation, he breathed a sigh of relief. “Have you all had breakfast? We can go now.”
They didn’t know that Si Huang hadn’t returned to the hotel yesterday. Speaking of actors’ whereabouts outside of work, they’re generally not within the director’s scope of attention; it was abnormal that Lei Qie knew so much.
The group got into the crew’s car and headed to the new filming location, this time in the famous desert region of Rome, a journey that would take quite a while.
In the car, Yu Xi explained the latest work arrangements to Si Huang, who immediately took the documents from his hand. “You rest for a bit, I’ll look at them myself.”
Yu Xi hesitated a little, but Si Huang had already lowered her head to look at the documents, saying calmly, “I understand these without you explaining them.”
It was the same before; she just preferred Yu Xi to explain, giving herself more free time.
Upon arriving at their destination, Si Huang busied herself with makeup and resumed her work. Meanwhile, at a hotel in the city, Chai Liang rushed to the private training ground where the Second Young Master was currently located.
The moment he knocked and the door opened, he was met with a scene that left him speechless—
Master Qin had punched the Second Young Master in the face, and the Second Young Master’s knife had grazed Master Qin’s face, leaving a shallow bloodstain.
The two men’s terrifying auras clashed, instantly sending a chill down his spine.
Especially their gazes— one icy cold, the other cruelly ruthless.
Under their intense stares, Chai Liang stiffened and stammered, “Second Young Master, I’ve found the latest domestic broadcast signal you asked me to find. You can watch the latest programs featuring Young Master Si.”
To prove his point, he placed the tablet he had prepared beforehand in front of him, blocking the two men’s gaze from his face. Thankfully, this successfully freed him from their gaze. Before he could even breathe a sigh of relief, he realized the atmosphere around him had become even more tense.
What had happened?
Unable to contain his curiosity, Chai Liang noticed the two frightening men’s eyes were glued to the tablets in their hands. He glanced at it furtively, and then felt as if he’d been struck by lightning.
Holy crap! Holy crap! Holy crap—!
What’s with this woman in the camera— with her waist-length hair and the face of Young Master Si that looked perfectly natural on her?!
