English Movies

  • 9 to 5 (1980): This movie is a screwball comedy but it shows so much female empowerment. The great thing about is that it is from the 80s at a time when women were not given equal treatment in workplace and this movie depicts all of that. (Genre: Screwball Comedy)
  • A Few Good Men (1992): One of the greatest legal dramas seen and the climax scene was a must watch. The chemistry between Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson just made this movie a delight to watch, even though Jack Nicholson was only primarily in three scenes of the movie. (Genre: Trial Drama)
  • Erin Brockovich (2000): This is one of those movies which make you think but also inspire you to be a better person than you are, even when you think that you are nothing special…. And Julia Roberts (is there anything else needed?) However, since it is primarily a legal drama about a social issue, which is based on real events, it might not be everybody’s cup of tea… but those who enjoy such movies should surely watch this one. (Genre: Drama, Romance)

  • EuroTrip (2004): This is one of those movies that are so bad that they are good… Hilarious and I feel that anybody who dreams of travelling to Europe must see this movie, it will surely make you ROFL!!!! (Genre: Comedy)
  • Fight Club (1999): One of the poster movies for mental health and which gave us many iconic dialogues such as “The first rule about fight club is you don’t talk about fight club.” “The second rule about fight club is you don’t talk about fight club.” This movie is a fun watch but it is also a mind-fuck especially at the end when you realize that there was no Tyler, and he had just imagined him. (Genre: Thriller, Drama)
  • Judgment at Nuremberg (1961): This movie is for those people who like war movies and who understand the background of World War II and the impact it had. It’s a very serious movie but Maximillian Schell in this movie was a pleasure to watch. Furthermore, it shows a picture of justice being done at the cost of political ambitions, which is rarely shown. (Genre: War, Drama)
  • Pillow Talk (1959): This is an awesome movie and I just loved it and the chemistry between the lead actor and actress…. (Genre: Romance, Comedy)
  • Primal Fear (1996): This is one of the earlier and lesser known movies of Edward Norton’s career but his acting in this thriller is really amazing. And add in Richard Gere as a lawyer and you have an unbeatable combo… (Genre: Thriller, Crime, Legal Drama)
  • Singin’ in the Rain (1952): This is an awesome movie despite being a vintage… And I absolutely loved Gene Kelly in this movie…. Super Recommend… (Genre: Musical, Romance)
  • The Lincoln Lawyer (2011): Loved, loved the movie… Recommended for anyone who likes legal dramas with great twists and turns… And Matthew McConaughey is amazing…. (Genre: Thriller, Crime, Legal Drama)
  • The Wizard of Oz (1939): I did not expect a movie shot so long ago to touch me so much. Watching this movie made me realize that no matter how much we grow up, we can always go home and there is no place better than home. I defy you to hate this movie. (Genre: Musical, Fantasy)
