The next day, by the time everyone woke up, the sun was already high in the sky. They thought they would have to go back to the city hungry to eat, but as soon as they went downstairs, a delicious aroma wafted towards them.

Following the aroma, they were surprised to find that Tang Tang had already prepared breakfast, and it was quite lavish!

“Wow—Tang Tang, how can you be so virtuous? If I were a man, I would marry you!” Ji Yue couldn’t resist, hugging Tang Tang and wanting to kiss her, but luckily Gu Chang’an pulled her back.

Tang Tang smiled and said, “I saw there were still quite a few ingredients in the refrigerator, so I took them all out and made breakfast. It’s good for everyone to eat before going back; an empty stomach isn’t good for the stomach.”

“You’re so kind, mwah!” Ji Yue didn’t have time to say more and quickly rushed over to grab the food. She knew that if she was any slower, there might not be any left. Last night, she didn’t get any lamb chops; they were all snatched by the men.

For breakfast, Tang Tang made fish porridge, steamed dumplings, and soup dumplings, and also boiled an egg for everyone— a truly authentic Chinese breakfast.

Having already tasted Tang Tang’s cooking yesterday, everyone quickly took their seats and started eating without Ji Xiaozhuo’s flattery, looking like hungry wolves.

“Gu Chang’an, hurry, hurry, peel an egg for me!” Ji Yue, munching on a soup dumpling, ordered Gu Chang’an.

Gu Chang’an tapped her forehead helplessly, gesturing for her to look at Ji Yan’s side. “Wife, look what Ji Yan’s wife is doing. Can’t you learn from her?”

“Hmm?” Ji Yue glanced over and saw Tang Tang peeling a boiled egg and placing it in Ji Yan’s bowl.

Ji Yue blinked, silently looked away, and continued eating, patting Gu Chang’an’s shoulder to comfort him, “Don’t envy Ji Yan, these kinds of things are rare.”

Gu Chang’an: “…”

Zhuo Ji, standing to the side, curled his lips and spoke up for Ji Yue, “Tang Tang belongs to an extinct species, and the only one was taken by Ji Yan, so we have no chance.” As he spoke, Zhuo Ji couldn’t help but think of the little girl who often acted spoiled and demanding towards him, and shook his head helplessly. Indeed, not everyone had Ji Yan’s good fortune.

After everyone finished eating, they went home. They were all busy people and didn’t have time to play for so many days.

Ji Xiaozhuo was very satisfied these two days. Not only could he play, but most importantly, his parents were with him. He no longer envied other children.

“Mom, did you have fun?” Ji Xiaozhuo asked Tang Tang from her arms.

Tang Tang nodded without hesitation, “Of course! Mommy is so happy!” She meant it. Although she hadn’t gone out to play these past two days, she had won everyone’s favor with her actions, and no one disliked her anymore. This was the biggest gain for her.

It seemed like she had taken one step closer to her baby’s father, and Tang Tang felt a little smug.

After asking his mother, Ji Xiaozhuo went to ask his father, “Dad, are you happy?”

Ji Yan nodded with a smile, “Yes.”

“I knew you guys would be happy playing with me,” the little guy said narcissistically, then asked Ji Yan, “Then Dad, do you want to be happy with me again tomorrow?”

Ji Yan already knew what the little guy wanted to say, and readily offered, “I’ll take you to the amusement park tomorrow.”

“Yay—” Ji Xiaozhuo excitedly hugged Tang Tang’s neck and shook her, “Mom, we can go to the amusement park tomorrow! We can ride the pirate ship, the roller coaster, and…”

The little guy rattled off all the rides he could think of to Tang Tang. Actually, he had never been to an amusement park himself; he only knew about them from other children and had silently memorized them.

Tang Tang nodded in agreement with the little guy. She wanted him to be happy tomorrow, as her father only had one day of leave left, and she didn’t know when they would see each other again.

Thinking about Ji Yan’s departure, Tang Tang felt a pang of reluctance. She wondered if he, a grown man, could eat and sleep well in the army and take care of himself. The army’s communal food probably wasn’t very good; they must be exhausted from training, and they couldn’t afford to eat poorly.

Tang Tang felt she should do something for Ji Yan. She decided to cook some good food for him to take to the army base, trying her best to ensure he ate well.

With that thought, Tang Tang said to Ji Yan, who was driving, “Honey, let’s go to the supermarket. I want to buy some groceries.”

Ji Yan drove straight to the supermarket’s underground parking lot, and the three of them went inside. This time, Ji Yan pushed the cart, while Ji Xiaozhuo tugged at Tang Tang’s trouser leg.

Tang Tang glanced at the little one beside her and tugged at Ji Yan’s sleeve.

Ji Yan looked at her. “What’s wrong?”

Tang Tang quietly leaned close to Ji Yan’s ear, trying not to let Ji Xiaozhuo hear. “Honey, why don’t you put the baby in the cart and push him? Other people’s children do this. I can’t push the baby around normally because of my limp, but the baby really wants to sit in it.”

Ji Yan looked around. Many adults were pushing their toddlers in shopping carts, while his little Ji Xiaozhuo was just wriggling around on the floor.

Ji Yan bent down and picked Ji Xiaozhuo up.

Ji Xiaozhuo was a little confused. “Daddy, what are you doing?”

Ji Yan put Ji Xiaozhuo in the shopping cart. “Daddy will push you.”

Ji Xiaozhuo understood, and the corners of his mouth immediately curled up uncontrollably. Afraid of being discovered, he tried to suppress his smile and twisted his little hands, saying, “Oh dear, I’m not a three-year-old anymore. It’s not good for me to sit in this.”

Tang Tang suppressed a laugh, and Ji Yan also smiled.

Tang Tang bought ten pounds of beef and ten pounds of pork, a whole lot. Ji Yan was puzzled. “Why did you buy so much meat? It won’t be fresh if we don’t eat it all.”

“Oh, I want to make some sauce.” Tang Tang didn’t say it was for him. She planned to keep it a secret for now. If she told him and he didn’t want it, it would be awkward. She’d better make it first and then tell him. Once it’s all made, he should be willing to take it.

Ji Yan didn’t think much of it and nodded.

It was still early when they got home. Tang Tang made a simple meal for the father and son, and then took the meat into the kitchen to start making sauce. She planned to make a beef sauce and a rice-friendly sauce. Both sauces were very appetizing and delicious.

She planned to make the remaining pork and beef into jerky. This kind of jerky not only kept for a long time but also kept you full. Most importantly, it tasted good, making it perfect for people with a lot of physical activity. This was her wet nurse’s secret recipe, and most people couldn’t get it.

While Tang Tang was busy in the kitchen, Ji Yan took Ji Xiaozhuo to a hardware store to buy a light bulb. After returning, he replaced the light in Tang Tang’s bathroom and then checked all the appliances in the house, repairing all the broken ones.

Ji Xiaozhuo followed Ji Yan around, and when Ji Yan finished his work, he suddenly asked, “Daddy, are you leaving?”

Ji Yan touched his little face. “Daddy’s vacation is over. I have to go back to the army tomorrow night.”

Ji Xiaozhuo pursed his lips, determined not to cry, and said bravely, “Daddy, I’ll be good at home. I’ll take care of Mommy, so don’t worry.”

Ji Yan hugged the little guy and kissed him affectionately. “Okay, I know you’re the best. Daddy believes in you.”

Ji Xiaozhuo hugged Ji Yan’s neck, buried his face in it, his eyes secretly reddening, and his voice choked a little. “Then, Daddy, can I come see you if I miss you?”

Ji Yan felt sad and was silent for a moment before suddenly asking, “Xiao Zhuo, do you want to come live with Daddy at the army base?”

“Would you like to go to kindergarten there?”

Ji Xiaozhuo suddenly looked up. “Daddy, can I go with you?”

“But there are no tall buildings, no amusement park, no delicious food, and no fun things there. Would you still want to go?”

Ji Xiaozhuo nodded without thinking. “Yes! As long as Daddy is there, that’s enough. I want to go with you. Take me with you.”

Ji Yan kissed his forehead, making up his mind.

Ji Xiaozhuo suddenly remembered something and asked nervously, “Then Daddy, will we take Mommy with us? I don’t want to be separated from Mommy either. We have to take Mommy with us. We can’t leave Mommy behind.”

“…….Okay.” Ji Yan suddenly felt like his little piglet had been stolen. It hadn’t been that long, and the little guy was already obsessed with his mother. Would he even have to take a backseat soon?

Knowing that his father was taking them to the military base, Ji Xiaozhuo was practically ecstatic. He immediately rushed out of the room and into the kitchen, charging straight at Tang Tang like a small cannonball.

Tang Tang, with her frail body, couldn’t withstand such a powerful impact, especially since her other leg was unsteady. She stumbled and fell face-first onto the stove, her arm hitting the surface painfully, seeing stars, and unable to get up for a long time.

Ji Xiaozhuo was startled, realizing his mistake, he immediately grabbed Tang Tang’s leg to try and lift his mother up, but he was too small and couldn’t muster any strength. So he frantically called out to Ji Yan.

Ji Yan rushed in and immediately picked up Tang Tang, placing her on the living room sofa. “How are you? Where are you hurt?”

Tang Tang waved her hand, enduring the pain. “It’s nothing, it’s just that my arm got bumped. I couldn’t get up because my leg wasn’t strong enough.”

Ji Yan examined Tang Tang’s arm, then felt the bones. He found the bones were fine, just a soft tissue contusion, which might swell up later.

Ji Yan applied some medicated wine to Tang Tang’s arm.

Ji Xiaozhuo felt extremely guilty, looking at Tang Tang with teary eyes and apologizing, “Mom, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have bumped into you so hard.” Ji Xiaozhuo often made this gesture towards Ji Yan, and Ji Yan always caught him. He had momentarily forgotten that his mother and father were different in strength.

Tang Tang wiped his eyes. “It’s okay, it’s okay, Mom is fine, don’t worry.”

“Then Mom, let me blow on it for you, it won’t hurt anymore.” Ji Xiaozhuo picked up Tang Tang’s arm and started blowing on it.

Ji Yan glanced at Tang Tang’s body; she was truly skin and bones. If a typhoon were to hit, she might be blown away. Such a body certainly couldn’t withstand the impact of Ji Xiaozhuo’s weight. Luckily, nothing happened this time; if it had happened on the stairs or in a dangerous place, who knows what might have happened. So, Ji Yan immediately gave Ji Xiaozhuo a serious reprimand: “Ji Xiaozhuo, next time you can’t push against Mom with so much force. Mom is too thin to catch you. Remember that.”

Ji Xiaozhuo lowered his head and mumbled, “I know, I’m too fat. Mom can’t catch me.”

So he knew he was fat? Ji Yan was utterly exasperated.
