Now that they were officially a couple, despite knowing that things wouldn’t end well if they went back, Ji Xiaozhuo ignored Nuo Nuo’s advice and resolutely took her hand and went home. He had no intention of hiding it; liking someone was liking someone, what was the point of hiding it? As long as he wasn’t beaten to death, he’d get back on his feet and be a hero again.

Nuo Nuo couldn’t do anything about it and could only let him lead her home.

“Nuo Nuo, let me tell you, if my mom asks you if I forced you, you can’t nod, or she’ll spank me.”

He wasn’t forgetting to threaten her even now… Nuo Nuo nodded speechlessly.

“If my parents ask you if you want to date me, you can only nod, not shake your head, understand?”

Nuo Nuo nodded.

“Also, if my parents ask you if you have someone you like, you can’t say anyone else, you can only say you like me, understand?”

Nuo Nuo nodded again.

After Ji Xiaozhuo finished rambling, he awkwardly turned his head away, knowing in his heart that what he had done was a bit shameless. So he said to Nuo Nuo, feeling uncomfortable, “I won’t do this again. I’ll treat you better from now on.”

Nuo Nuo hummed in agreement, pursed her lips, lowered her head, and slightly curled up the corners of her mouth. No one could see the joy she felt at that moment.

“Silly Brother Zhuo, you didn’t force me. I don’t have anyone else I like. Wen Nuo has only loved you in this life, but I didn’t want to tell you this. It’s all because you were so close to Wei Jia, and you even let her touch your hand. You even took her home and drank with her. All of this made me jealous, so I was punishing you.”

Seeing Nuo Nuo keeping her head down and not saying anything, Ji Xiaozhuo felt even more guilty. He squeezed her hand and asked her dryly, “Nuo Nuo, don’t you have anything to say to me?”

Nuo Nuo looked up at him, and after a long while, she nodded. “Yes. From now on, you can’t hold hands, play ball, put your arm around other girls, drink, or play drinking games with other girls. You have to keep your distance, otherwise… I won’t be friends with you anymore.” She spoke the last sentence almost silently.

Ji Xiaozhuo glared at her. “How could I have done that with other girls? Don’t wrong me.”

Nuo Nuo pouted and stated calmly, “You did. When you played basketball with Wei Jia, you were always arm in arm with her. You also drank with her, and when she dragged you to karaoke, you let her.”

Ji Xiaozhuo suddenly realized what was going on and pulled Nuo Nuo into his arms, cupping her face in his hands as he looked at her. “Have you been angry with me about these things? Is that why you don’t go out with me anymore, don’t spend time with me, and don’t wait for me to leave together?”

Nuo Nuo pursed her lips and remained silent, tacitly agreeing.

Ji Xiaozhuo clicked his tongue, almost laughing in exasperation at the girl’s antics. “I never even considered Wei Jia a girl! In my mind, she’s the same species as Monkey, that’s why I sang and drank with her. I really didn’t have any other feelings for her whatsoever!!! Why didn’t you tell me you were upset? Why are you just accusing me like this?!”

Nuo Nuo lowered her eyelashes, her thick lashes casting faint shadows on her eyes.

Seeing this, Ji Xiaozhuo’s anger immediately vanished. He pressed his forehead against hers, his tone softening. “Okay, okay, I’m sorry, it’s my fault. I didn’t notice these things. If I had known you would be upset, I definitely wouldn’t have contacted her. I promise you, from now on I will absolutely not have any contact with other girls, not even tomboys or strong women, okay?”

Nuo Nuo twisted her fingers uncomfortably, her heart filled with sweetness, and a smile finally appeared in her eyes.

The familiar Nuo Nuo was back, and Ji Xiaozhuo finally breathed a sigh of relief. He leaned down and bit her delicate white ear playfully. “You naughty girl! You framed me for no reason and ignored me for so many days. What’s your punishment?!”

Nuo Nuo blushed from the bite, biting her lip and smiling at him sweetly, her eyes pleading and coquettish.

Ji Xiaozhuo’s heart softened at her smile, but he still said fiercely, “Don’t think I’ll forgive you just because you smiled. You still need to be punished!”

Nuo Nuo nodded obediently.

“Alright, then your punishment is to watch me play basketball from the sidelines from now on, be my cheerleader. Can you do that?”

Nuo Nuo smiled and stood still, giving him a playful salute.

Ji Xiaozhuo was satisfied and happily took his newly minted girlfriend home.

Seeing the two children return, Tang Tang put down her needlework and waved to them, “Come on, let’s eat! Are you hungry?”

Nuo Nuo tried to pull her hand away from the tight grip, but Ji Xiaozhuo held it even tighter, pulling her to stand respectfully in front of Tang Tang. “Mom, I want to introduce you to someone.”

“Huh?” Tang Tang didn’t understand, glancing behind them but seeing no one else. “Did you bring a friend home? Where are they?”

Looking at his beloved mother’s unchangingly sweet demeanor, Ji Xiaozhuo felt no nervousness. His mother wasn’t the problem; the real trouble was his father. So, facing Tang Tang, he spoke with a smile, “Mom, let me introduce you to this girl next to me. This is my girlfriend, and also your future daughter-in-law, Wen Nuo.”

Wen Nuo blushed and lowered her head, not daring to look at Tang Tang.

Tang Tang, on the other hand, stared at the two of them in surprise, speechless for a moment.

Ji Xiaozhuo explained earnestly, “Mom, I like Nuo Nuo. It’s not just a casual thing, nor is it mistaking family affection for love. I really, really like Nuo Nuo, and I will take care of her for the rest of my life. I hope you and Dad will support us.”

He had said everything, leaving Tang Tang speechless. She opened her mouth, then stammered, “Then… then let’s wait until your father comes back.” Actually, in her time, it was normal for children to get married at thirteen or fourteen. Putting aside her surprise, she didn’t think there was anything wrong with two children dating. But it was different here. She felt that Ji Yan would be very angry, and her Xiao Zhuo was probably in trouble.

Tang Tang stood up, took Nuo Nuo’s hand, and led her to the kitchen. “Nuo Nuo, would you like to go to the kitchen with your auntie to help?”

Nuo Nuo knew she had something to say and immediately went obediently. Ji Xiaozhuo also wisely didn’t follow.

In the kitchen, Tang Tang asked Nuo Nuo, “Nuo Nuo, tell your aunt the truth, did Xiao Zhuo force you? Tell your aunt if you have any grievances, and your aunt will stand up for you. Don’t be afraid of your brother Xiao Zhuo.”

Nuo Nuo shook her head and took Tang Tang’s hand, “Auntie, brother Xiao Zhuo didn’t force me. I like him too, I’ve always liked him.”

Tang Tang was stunned and looked at her in surprise.

Nuo Nuo nestled into her arms and poured out the secret she had kept hidden in her heart, “Auntie, from the moment Xiao Zhuo reached out his hand to me and brought me home, my world completely changed because of him. Without him, I don’t know what the meaning of my existence is in this world. Auntie, I thought I would one day watch Xiao Zhuo get married and have children and find happiness, but I’m a lucky person, aren’t I?”

Tang Tang had never heard Nuo Nuo speak so much before, nor did she know that she harbored such deep feelings for Xiao Zhuo. She had always thought Nuo Nuo was still a child who didn’t understand love, but now she realized that Nuo Nuo was actually more mature than Ji Xiao Zhuo; she understood everything, she just never said it.

Nuo Nuo wasn’t ignorant; she understood too much.

Originally, she was worried that Nuo Nuo would be fooled by Ji Xiaozhuo because she didn’t understand love, and she was also afraid that she would regret it when she grew up. But now she could rest assured.

“Good child, as long as you’re willing, Auntie hopes you’ll all be happy.”

Nuo Nuo’s eyes reddened. “Thank you, Auntie. Meeting you is the luckiest thing that ever happened to me. I must have saved the galaxy in my past life.”

Tang Tang was amused by her silly words. “Silly child.”

Tang Tang was easy to talk to, but Ji Yan was different. After receiving the news, he immediately rushed back from the army. The first thing he did was to have Tang Tang take Nuo Nuo out to play for an hour.

After the two women left, Ji Yan made Ji Xiaozhuo kneel down without saying a word and began to whip him hard with the belt he had taken off.

Ji Xiaozhuo endured it without uttering a sound. His clothes were completely torn on the back, and red bloodstains covered his entire back, a shocking sight.

Ji Yan had never beaten Ji Xiaozhuo so severely. It wasn’t that he didn’t feel sorry for him, but he had to. He had long regarded Nuo Nuo as his own daughter and would never allow any boy to have designs on her, including Ji Xiaozhuo. Now this boy, at such a young age, was trying to seduce Nuo Nuo, so he not only had to teach him a lesson, but a severe one.

The beating lasted for half an hour before stopping. Ji Xiaozhuo was drenched in sweat, his back a terrible sight, and he knelt on the ground, breathing heavily.

Ji Yan looked away, slowly fastening his belt, before speaking his first words: “Do you really like Nuo Nuo?”

“Yes, I do.”

“Can you promise to like her for the rest of your life?”

“Yes! I promise the Party and the people that I will never let her down and will be good to her for the rest of my life.”

Ji Yan sat down on the sofa, lit a cigarette, and tossed one to Ji Xiaozhuo. Ji Xiaozhuo caught it, knowing the matter was over, slowly got up, put the cigarette in his mouth, and lit it with a lighter.

Ji Yan exhaled a smoke ring. “I won’t stop you, but you need to know what you should and shouldn’t do. Before Nuo Nuo comes of age, you’re not allowed to touch her, understand?”

Ji Xiaozhuo nodded. “Dad, I understand. Don’t worry. If I bully Nuo Nuo, you can beat me to death.”

Ji Yan smirked. This brat was quite something. The others weren’t wrong; this kid was definitely better than him at finding a wife. He was over thirty when he met Tang Tang and finally figured things out, while this brat had his wife settled in his teens, and she was even from right next door. However, he had good taste. Compared to other girls, he was very satisfied with Nuo Nuo as his daughter-in-law. At least he hadn’t chosen a terrible wife.

With his relationship with Nuo Nuo now tacitly accepted, Ji Xiaozhuo no longer introduced Nuo Nuo as his sister, but as his wife.

This change shocked everyone. After learning the details, they couldn’t help but give Ji Xiaozhuo a thumbs up; he’d really capitalized on the situation.

However, although their relationship had changed, their interactions remained the same. Ji Xiaozhuo was discreet and would never touch Nuo Nuo at inappropriate times. So, aside from holding Nuo Nuo’s hand and occasionally kissing her, he was so well-behaved that even Nuo Nuo was surprised— provided, of course, that she didn’t know he had already done all those unspeakable things to her in his dreams.

The two dated from junior high to high school, and almost the entire school knew about their relationship. But all the teachers, including the principal, chose to turn a blind eye. The reason was simple: besides Ji Xiaozhuo’s good behavior, their academic performance was also a major factor. Good students always receive preferential treatment, and the reputation of the school was upheld by Ji Xiaozhuo and Nuo Nuo. If the principal didn’t say anything, the teachers certainly wouldn’t either.

After the college entrance examination, Ji Xiaozhuo and Nuo Nuo achieved near-perfect scores, becoming the top two scorers in the province. The school reached its peak thanks to these two geniuses, almost making the principal grin from ear to ear. With the results in hand, it was time to fill out college applications. Ji Xiaozhuo, from a military family, unsurprisingly applied to the best military academy in the country— the National Defense University. However, Nuo Nuo’s choice was a complete surprise. Everyone expected her to choose the most popular major at the best university in the capital, but she ultimately chose the Capital University of Technology, specifically the almost extinct field of Weapon Science and Technology for girls.

This university was the top institution directly under the Ministry of Ordnance, and this major was specifically designed for military and national defense. How could people not be astonished by Nuo Nuo, a girl’s choice? Even her homeroom teacher spoke with her, advising her to reconsider.

But Nuo Nuo only chose this one major and refused to be reassigned. This was her passion, and also her way of protecting her loved one. Her brother Xiao Zhuo protected the country, so she would protect him; she would protect the country together with him.

After filling out their college applications, a series of gatherings, big and small, followed, and Class One was no exception. On the day of the class reunion, Ji Xiaozhuo and Nuo Nuo, the top two students and the only couple, naturally became the focus of the entire class, and drinking was inevitable.

However, with Ji Xiaozhuo, the troublemaker, around, the classmates naturally dared not target Nuo Nuo, so all the drinks were directed at him. Ji Xiaozhuo accepted everyone’s share, not only drinking his own portion but also Nuo Nuo’s. By the end of the party, Nuo Nuo hadn’t touched a drop of alcohol, while he had a belly full of it.

After dinner, the class arranged a karaoke session, so everyone moved from the restaurant to a karaoke bar. Ji Xiaozhuo didn’t go; instead, he took Nuo Nuo’s hand and took her to the riverbank. He sat down on the riverbank, pulled Nuo Nuo into his arms, and hugged her tightly. The two looked at the river together. After a while, he spoke, his voice feminine yet husky, “Nuo Nuo, do you remember this place?”

Nuo Nuo nestled in his arms, her eyes full of laughter. “This is where we confirmed our relationship.”

Ji Xiaozhuo laughed too. “Back then, I had just realized my feelings for you and was afraid someone else would take you away, so I took the initiative and forced you to agree to be my girlfriend. I wouldn’t let you tell your parents I forced you, or I’d spank you.”

Nuo Nuo hugged his neck and buried her face in it, giggling. Her brother Xiao Zhuo was so silly back then.

“Huh? Still laughing? You little liar!” Ji Xiaozhuo patted the little girl’s bottom in his arms. “You clearly liked me, but you made me mistakenly think you liked someone else, making me so worried. Aren’t you bad?”

Nuo Nuo knew she was in the wrong, so she tilted her head up and kissed his chin twice as an apology.

“You think you can just send me away with a kiss on the chin? Do you think I’m that easy to please?” Ji Xiaozhuo pinched Nuo Nuo’s chin and sucked her red lips hard, his tongue swirling wildly in her mouth, kissing her until she was weak and panting, but he wouldn’t let go. Their kisses became more and more passionate, his arms around her tightening, as if he wanted to melt her into his bones.

Nuo Nuo didn’t struggle, but patted his back soothingly.

She knew he was heartbroken. He had been heartbroken ever since he received his acceptance letter. In two days, he would be reporting to the military academy. Military academy was different from ordinary schools; it was difficult to leave easily. Seeing each other would be incredibly difficult, meaning they would face their first separation in eighteen years of life, a separation that would last indefinitely.

Not only was he reluctant to part, but she felt the same way. The thought of separation made her heart ache. If she could, she would rather become one with him and go with him.

When he tasted the blood in Nuo Nuo’s mouth, Ji Xiaozhuo finally released her, burying his face in her shoulder without speaking. Only after all his emotions had calmed down did he pick her up and walk home in silence.

Nuo Nuo nuzzled his cheek against his and whispered comforting words in his ear, “Brother Xiao Zhuo… I’ll come see you. I’ll come see you whenever I have time, okay? Don’t be sad.”

“Mm.” Ji Xiaozhuo kissed her forehead, his voice filled with reluctance and worry. “I can’t take you to school. You have to refuse all the men who ask for your phone number or WeChat and try to find your dorm, okay?”

Nuo Nuo smiled and nodded obediently.

“There are more boys than girls at your school, and all the men are wolves. Remember to tell everyone you have a boyfriend, okay? Otherwise, those men will pounce on you like hungry wolves.”

Nuo Nuo knew he was worried about her, afraid she would be snatched away by someone else. She found it amusing, but also incredibly sweet. So she tilted her head and kissed him, promising, “I will. I’ll tell everyone I have a boyfriend. My boyfriend is tall, handsome, and amazing. Oh, and he loves me very much. Most importantly, I love him too, and I’ll only ever love him.”

Ji Xiaozhuo was completely captivated by Nuo Nuo’s sweet words, wanting nothing more than to kiss this little vixen to death. However, he couldn’t resist kissing her again, so he could only sigh helplessly, suppressing his beastly desire and continuing to walk with his darling in his arms.

Nuo Nuo clearly saw the desire in his eyes. She knew he wanted her, and had wanted her for many, many years.

Biting her lip shyly, Nuo Nuo’s eyes swept over a chain hotel not far away. So despite being embarrassed, she mustered her courage and whispered in his ear, “Brother Zhuo, I don’t want to go home tonight. How about we stay at that hotel for the night?”

Ji Xiaozhuo stopped abruptly, as if struck by lightning. “Nuo Nuo, do you know what you’re saying?”

Nuo Nuo buried her face in his neck. “I just turned eighteen last month. I’m all grown up.” She could be a woman now.

Grown up… The meaning of the girl in his arms couldn’t be clearer. Ji Xiaozhuo’s heart pounded, his eyes flashing with intense light. He immediately turned away. “Baby, you said it yourself. Don’t regret it later. If you do, I won’t be able to stop.”

Nuo Nuo blushed and buried her face in his chest, laughing silently.

Silly Brother Zhuo, how could I regret it? I’ve been ready to be your woman for a long time.
