Juling Immortal Mountain

Outside the mountain gate, a peaceful scene unfolded. Cultivators entered and exited in twos and threes, a sight completely different from the heavily guarded Kunlun Immortal Mountain.

Jiang Shaoying and Xiao Ai hid behind an immortal tree outside the mountain gate, carefully concealing their presence and observing the movements at the gate.

“Master…” Jiang Shaoying asked in a low voice, “What…what are we doing here?”

“Yes, why don’t we hurry back to Kunlun?” Xiao Ai said coquettishly.

“Quiet.” Li Yuebai reprimanded in a deep voice, “Observe carefully and don’t joke around.”

“Hehehe.” Xiao Ai covered her mouth and secretly laughed, “Master is so cute.”

In her eyes, Mu Qingning looked like an incredibly cute little doll, hiding herself in her backpack, and speaking in a soft voice, completely lacking any intimidation.

“In short, conceal your presence and absolutely do not appear in front of anyone.” Li Yuebai had been teased countless times since becoming a puppet, and was numb to it all. He was too lazy to even rub his forehead and simply gave the orders as usual.

Although his two mischievous disciples were unruly, their ability to conceal their presence was quite reliable, and they remained undetected throughout.

The time indicated by the system had arrived, and the female supporting character they were waiting for indeed appeared.

A woman in green robes walked gracefully out of the mountain gate. Her steps were steady, her expression serious, and her delicate face was taut, unwilling to reveal even a trace of her true feelings.

This was Wei Qianqian, who had long lived in the shadow of her father, Wei Jingyao, and dared not show any intention of rebellion.

However, the maids accompanying her revealed her true thoughts.

Several maids hurriedly followed behind her, their expressions anxious, each trying to persuade her: “Miss, don’t wander off. If Lord Jingyao finds out, he will surely punish you again…”

Wei Qianqian glanced at them indifferently and said, “I’m just going outside the mountain gate to clear my head. Doesn’t Father even trust me with this?”

“It’s not that he doesn’t trust me, it’s just…” The maids exchanged uneasy glances and said, “We’re about to set off for Kunlun Immortal Mountain to attend the Immortal Sect Assembly. If you get lost now, it will definitely delay our journey.”

“The Immortal Sect Assembly?” Wei Qianqian said softly, “Kunlun is just using the Immortal Sect Assembly as an excuse to do dirty things.”

“Miss, you can’t say that.” The maids looked back worriedly and said, “Lord Jingyao intends to marry you to the Immortal Lord of Kunlun. This is a great joy! The Immortal Lord of Kunlun is young and handsome, and he governs a vast immortal sect. He and you are a perfect match, a match made in heaven.”

“What a perfect match!” Wei Qianqian’s eyes were already red. “Kunlun Immortal Master Yu Tianji is of questionable character and has overstepped his bounds; he is definitely not a good man.”

They weren’t speaking loudly, but thanks to the original owner’s keen hearing, Li Yuebai heard everything clearly.

Wei Qianqian had indeed been suppressing her feelings for too long, and if she continued to suppress them, she might not be able to hold on any longer. So, outside the mountain gate, in front of her personal maid, she slightly revealed her true feelings.

Hearing her criticize Yu Tianji, Li Yuebai was first stunned, and then he couldn’t help but smile bitterly.

Yu Tianji, or rather, the transmigrator he knew, was certainly not a bad person, but in terms of being philandering and dissolute… being criticized was truly not unjustified. No woman wants to marry a husband who is unfaithful.

It seems that Wei Jingyao here was now considering marrying his daughter to Yu Tianji, not Yu Tianliu. After all, Yu Tianji was the Immortal Lord, while Yu Tianliu was still far away, and it was uncertain whether he could return to seize power. Moreover, in Wei Jingyao’s view, Yu Tianji’s personality was easier to control.

“Miss, don’t worry. Perhaps once you marry him, he will restrain his thoughts and be devoted to you from then on,” the maids comforted her.

The maids weren’t fools; they knew perfectly well what Lord Jingyao was planning for their daughter, but what could they do? As maids, they had no right to interfere, nor could they offend their master for their mistress’s sake. They could only offer lukewarm words of comfort, using things they themselves didn’t believe.

Wei Qianqian bit her lip, seemingly wanting to continue arguing, but she knew that nothing she said would change the situation, and nothing she said to the maids would alter it. It was better to relax, so she drew her long sword, recited an incantation, and flew away on her sword.

“Miss, Miss, please don’t fly too far!” the maids hurriedly warned.

“Don’t worry, how could I possibly leave?” Wei Qianqian chuckled self-deprecatingly, then flew towards the immortal forest outside the mountain gate.

She truly had no intention of escaping; with such a special identity, no matter where she fled, her family would find her, and any resistance would be futile.

Seeing her flying closer and closer, Li Yuebai couldn’t help but sternly instruct his two disciples: “Don’t expose yourself.”

“Host, what do you plan to do next?” the system asked.

“Now that we know Wei Jingyao’s intentions, things are easier to handle. We just need to return to Kunlun and wait for Wei Jingyao and his daughter to arrive,” Li Yuebai said.

“You’ve chosen a conservative strategy,” the system said.

“Yes, whatever we do, we’re always more at ease on our own turf,” Li Yuebai said.

The most important thing about this trip to Juling wasn’t changing the plot, but gathering information, preferably without leaving a trace to avoid causing new conflicts.

Just then, a tremor ran through him; Jiang Shaoying visibly trembled!

The boy, usually so healthy and energetic, now looked as if he had been injured or poisoned. He bent over in pain, leaning against a nearby sacred tree, breathing heavily.

“Shaoying, what’s wrong?” Li Yuebai asked anxiously.

“Master, I…” Jiang Shaoying weakly raised his arm, his sleeve slipping down to reveal a wound. The wound, which had healed, had reopened and turned bluish-black.

His face was deathly pale, and large beads of sweat slid down his neck.

“Is the poison taking effect?” Xiao Ai panicked and hurriedly reported to her master, “When we were hiding and monitoring Yu Tianliu, Yu Tianliu’s men were suspicious and threw a few darts at our hiding place. Junior Brother was accidentally hit by a dart, but he didn’t make a sound, so Yu Tianliu didn’t find us.”

“That dart… only caused a cut and bleeding, I didn’t feel anything, so I thought it was nothing…” Jiang Shaoying said haltingly.

“Nonsense!” Li Yuebai’s anger flared. “Why didn’t you report it in time?”

“It was all my negligence, please punish me, Master!” Xiao Ai was almost crying.

Now, there was no time for punishment; detoxification was the priority. However, Li Yuebai knew nothing about pharmacology, and he hadn’t brought any antidotes.

“System, what should we do? Are there any antidotes among these immortal trees?” he hurriedly asked the system.

“I’m sorry, host, no. Juling Immortal Mountain doesn’t produce many herbs. Only high-level cultivators usually carry herbs…” the system said helplessly.

“It seems there’s only one way.” Li Yuebai closed his eyes and said, “Shaoying, stop concealing your aura.”

“Master, you mean…”

“Go out, let Wei Qianqian see you.” Li Yuebai lightly tapped Jiang Shaoying on the back.

“Yes…” Jiang Shaoying no longer had the strength to conceal his aura. He stumbled and fell, crashing into the grove of immortal trees. The suppressed groans burst forth from between his teeth.

“Who’s there?” Wei Qianqian, who had been flying on her sword above the immortal forest, immediately became alert upon hearing voices in the woods and assumed a defensive stance.

As she listened further, she could discern that it was the sound of a young man groaning in pain; someone was injured.

After a moment’s hesitation, she lowered her flying sword and descended towards the source of the sound.

In the forest, where fallen leaves covered the ground, a young man was curled up, trembling and struggling, tightly clutching his arm, which bore a bluish-black wound.

Wei Qianqian glanced at him and immediately realized that the young man was indeed injured and poisoned.

She immediately drew her dagger, walked towards the boy, stepped on his arm, and slashed open the wound, forcing out the black blood. She then took out medicinal powder from her purse and sprinkled it on the wound.

Li Yuebai, hiding in his bag, watched her movements intently— sure enough, she carried the best antidote herbs; his disciple was saved.

After a tense treatment, the poison in Jiang Shaoying’s body was quickly suppressed. His previously tightly curled-up body relaxed, and he lay down on the fallen leaves, falling into a deep sleep.

Wei Qianqian originally wanted to turn and leave, but didn’t want to go back to face her father and the noisy maids so soon, so she sat down beside him, staring blankly into the distance.

A gentle breeze blew through the forest, creating a tranquil atmosphere that gave one a fleeting sense of seclusion.

Li Yuebai felt increasingly familiar with this scene.

Similar scenes had appeared in many movies, television dramas, and novels.

As expected, Wei Qianqian’s gaze shifted to Jiang Shaoying’s face, and she even began to talk to herself.

She had been suppressing her feelings for too long, and couldn’t find a suitable listener. She could at least say a few words to this unconscious boy, since he was unconscious and couldn’t hear or speak anything, unlike the maids who would offer meaningless comfort.

“System,” Li Yuebai asked, “Did Jiang Shaoying and Wei Qianqian have any opportunities later in the original story?”

He had almost forgotten that Jiang Shaoying was the male protagonist of this world, and as the male protagonist, he would naturally have more peach blossom opportunities than others.

“Yes,” the system replied. “After Mu Qingning’s death, Jiang Shaoying travelled far and wide and met Wei Qianqian once.”

“How was it?”

“Not good,” the system sighed. “Don’t forget, Wei Qianqian was Yu Tianliu’s wife, and he and Jiang Shaoying are sworn enemies. Jiang Shaoying deeply despised and hated Yu Tianliu, and consequently, he had no good feelings towards Wei Qianqian either.”

“However, Wei Qianqian probably didn’t have much ill will towards Jiang Shaoying.”

“Indeed, no. On the contrary, Wei Qianqian greatly admired Jiang Shaoying,” the system said. “Because she herself was trapped in a cage, she greatly admired and even liked Jiang Shaoying’s free-spirited and unrestrained nature.”

“What was Wei Qianqian’s fate?”

“She died in despair,” the system replied.

This time, it certainly won’t be the same ending.
