Around 8 or 9 p.m., Huo Jingchuan and Gu Qin were too lazy to go back to their school dormitory. They sat on the carpet in front of the sofa, threw a bunch of snacks on the coffee table, and turned off the lights until the living room was pitch black. They connected the tablet to the TV and turned on screen mirroring, and the four of them watched a Korean horror movie.

Su Xi and Gu Qin sat in the middle, while Lu Huan put on his coat and sat to Su Xi’s right.

Compared to romantic idol dramas, Lu Huan was obsessed with programs like animal documentaries and science exploration shows, but he felt only so-so about horror movies because they didn’t scare him at all. The three people next to him were pale and scared out of their wits, while he stared blankly at the murderer sneaking under the female protagonist’s bed on TV.

The female protagonist then discovers in the middle of the night that the doorknob has been shaken and that someone is outside the door.

The three people screamed in terror. Gu Qin and Huo Jingchuan covered their heads and screamed, while Su Xi hugged Lu Huan’s waist and buried her head in his chest.

Lu Huan’s ears turned red: !

Is that even possible?!

He suddenly developed a love for horror movies.

Lu Huan smiled and ruffled Su Xi’s hair, saying, “It’s fake, I’m here.”

“Don’t talk!” Su Xi tried to squeeze closer to him, wishing she could grab him like a pillow to block her view. Lu Huan was a little amused and took the initiative to raise his hand so that she could grab his arm, only showing a tiny bit of her eyes to see a little bit of the screen.

She had to say, sitting next to Lu Huan while watching a horror movie made the movie seem less scary.

But then Huo Jingchuan suddenly said, “Look, there’s a figure over there at the window.”

“Ahhh, Huo Jingchuan, are you crazy?!” Gu Qin and Su Xi were both terrified and crying, their souls nearly leaving their bodies.

After a period of chaos, it was already late at night. They had early morning self-study the next day, so the four of them couldn’t stay up too late. Gu Qin rubbed her eyes, washed up, and went to sleep. The apartment had two rooms: one for the two girls, and one for Lu Huan. Huo Jingchuan, being rather fussy, thought two grown men shouldn’t sleep together, so he occupied the sofa.

The weather in late September was already quite cool, and the leaves were slowly falling. Su Xi had changed into her fluffy knitted long-sleeved pajamas.

Gu Qin had probably had too much fun, so she was now making soft snoring noises in her sleep. Su Xi couldn’t fall asleep, so she dragged her pillow, went barefoot, and quietly pushed open Lu Huan’s door.

Moonlight streamed through the gap in the curtains that were never drawn. Lu Huan rested one hand behind his head, but he couldn’t fall asleep.

He sat up and said, “Why aren’t you wearing slippers? The floor is cold.”

“Shh.” Su Xi threw a pillow on his bed, climbed onto his bed, and said, “They’re asleep, don’t wake them up.”

Lu Huan was also wearing his pajamas, which Su Xi had bought for him some time ago. He had changed from wearing white undergarments and robes to these cartoon-themed long-sleeved trousers. At first, he was a little uncomfortable with it, but now he was completely used to it.

“Can’t you sleep?” Lu Huan looked down at Su Xi.

Su Xi lay down on one side of the bed, hugged his waist, closed her eyes and said softly, “Hmm, I might have eaten too much, my stomach is a little uncomfortable.”

Lu Huan lay down as well, and through Su Xi’s pajamas, he began to massage her. Compared to the school boys who couldn’t lift a weight, his hands were very strong. His warm palms massaged Su Xi’s stomach, making her feel warm and cozy, until she wanted to let out a satisfied sigh.

Su Xi opened her eyes and found Lu Huan lying on his side, staring at her intently.

Her cheeks suddenly flushed: “Why are you looking at me like that?”

Lu Huan’s ears turned slightly red: “I was just wondering, isn’t the air conditioning on in the room? Why is it so hot?”

Su Xi said speechlessly, “Don’t let your mind wander to random things, or I’m leaving.”

“I didn’t think of anything.” Lu Huan held up two fingers to prove his innocence: “I won’t do anything to you before I marry you.”

He stroked Su Xi’s hair and said, “In my opinion, you’re still too young.”

Su Xi was completely taken aback and lowered her voice, saying, “Don’t talk to me like that old father. I only thought you were a child before you transmigrated here.”

“And now?”

Lu Huan was indignant and rolled over, pinning Su Xi down. He was innocent and mindful of boundaries, his body not touching Su Xi, but the mere scent of a vibrant young man emanating from him made Su Xi feel a little breathless. She tried her best to steady her heartbeat and stared at him with wide eyes.

Moonlight streamed in through the window, illuminating his fair, handsome face and falling on his reddened earlobes.

The boy’s shoulders were broad, and his arms, which were supporting him on his sides, were also very strong.

He was very gentle; he even carefully placed his hands on the pillow so as not to cover her hair.

Su Xi stared at Lu Huan, mesmerized, and suddenly felt an urge to hug him and kiss him.

She had never been in a relationship before and didn’t quite understand why the male and female leads kissed in TV dramas. They were just two lips, what was so special about kissing? But now she felt like Eve, tempted, wanting to rush into his arms, not get out of bed tomorrow, not go to school the day after, and just hold him tightly.

So this is what it feels like to like someone, Su Xi thought to herself. It’s truly a wonderful feeling.

Su Xi blushed and turned her face away: “…Not small.”

Lu Huan looked at her, his Adam’s apple bobbing involuntarily. He forced himself to stop, then lay down on his side next to her, holding her with one arm: “Can we sleep like this for a while?”

Su Xi snuggled into his arms, closed her eyes, and smiled, saying, “Okay.”

Lu Huan held her waist tightly and found that her waist was so slender. Although it was not so slender that it could be grasped in one hand, he could feel the delicate touch of her skin even through the layer of pajamas.

No, I can’t think about these things. Lu Huan silently recited “form is emptiness[1]” several times.

He heard Su Xi yawn beside him and asked, “How’s your radio calisthenics going lately?”

Lu Huan found the broadcast gymnastics a bit difficult to learn, since all the other students in the school had been doing it since childhood. He had joined the class midway through and had never done it before. Su Xi had taught him once at home these past few days, but fortunately, he had a photographic memory and strong physical coordination, so he could roughly learn it after watching it twice.

Lu Huan thus said, “I understand the general idea. What’s next week’s content? Mahjong?”

Su Xi and he made a list, and each week they would teach him something from outside the textbooks of this world.

“Yes, my mom likes playing mahjong. So when I take you over for Chinese New Year, your mahjong skills will be a big plus.”

Lu Huan smiled and said, “The most important thing is to get into the same university.”

He had also gained a general understanding of the university system in this world. Once he entered university, he would no longer attend classes full-time, but would instead take elective courses. At that time, he would be able to travel between Yan and this world.

With such a general plan, both he and Su Xi were filled with high expectations for the future.

Su Xi opened her eyes and met Lu Huan’s gaze, feeling a sense of peace in her heart.

How to describe her feelings towards the cub? It’s like having his arm under your head, comfortable and warm, like a harbor that will never leave. No matter what obstacles there are in the future, he will definitely be the one who holds your hand, never lets go, and leads you forward together.

Lu Huan also looked at Su Xi. He was backlit by the moonlight, while Su Xi was bathed in it. The soft moonlight fell on Su Xi’s clean and fair face, and her eyelashes cast a small shadow under her eyelids.

She smiled at him, and Lu Huan’s heart melted.

“There’s one more thing,” Lu Huan said expectantly, “Can this be done before marriage?”

Su Xi hadn’t yet realized what he meant by “that”.

Suddenly, his head darted close and planted three light kisses on her forehead, the tip of her nose, and her lips.

After the kiss, Lu Huan buried his face in the pillow, his ears turning incredibly red.

Su Xi suddenly felt a bit disgusted, thinking he was useless. She blinked and asked him, “Haven’t you ever seen other people kiss? Even if you haven’t eaten pork, you should at least have seen pigs run, right?”

Lu Huan felt that what he had just done was already extremely excessive, but he never expected that Su Xi would still seem a little disgusted. He hugged Su Xi tighter and asked blankly, “Then what should I do?”

She suddenly realized that Lu Huan was no good, and that she was much better than Lu Huan, having watched countless soap operas.

Their breaths drew close, and the temperature suddenly rose.

Lu Huan held his breath and stared at Su Xi, as if mesmerized, and suddenly blurted out, “Xiao Xi, you are so beautiful, I love you.”

“…I like you too.” Su Xi suddenly broke down, thinking to herself, “Forget it, if Lu Huan finds out that I’m better than him, he’ll be depressed for days.”

Su Xi considered herself very understanding, so she buried her head in Lu Huan’s chest and laughed, “But you should learn how to kiss first.”

The author has something to say:

The next day.

Disapproving of his wife, Lu Huan took a bath, burned incense, sat cross-legged, and earnestly opened the book “Ninety-Nine Kissing Techniques” he had downloaded from the internet at the Taishan Palace.

[1] The phrase “form is emptiness, emptiness is form” comes from the Heart Sutra and describes the nondual, interdependent nature of reality in Mahayana Buddhism. Physical and mental things we can touch, see, or experience in daily life, including our bodies and objects.

I am a law student who has two interests: novels and law.... So I am blogging about both of them..
