The inpatient building of S University Affiliated Hospital was brightly lit, with lights switched on every floor. From one of the windows, the cheers and laughter of children could be heard.

Lu Dangui had been in the inpatient department for over an hour, chatting and sharing cake with several young patients in the semi-open wards.

Jian Jingjing’s “Save Wonderland” organization had grown to five members, including two unruly children hospitalized with their parents. They only realized it was Dr. Lu’s birthday when they saw his WeChat Moments post with the caption “My sister bought me a cake.”

With the head nurse’s permission, the group asked their parents to buy a small cake and waited in the recreation room to celebrate Dr. Lu’s birthday.

Before going to the inpatient department, Lu Dangui first helped the big star go downstairs.

Seeing Lu Dangui staring at his phone and grinning foolishly in the elevator, Xing Cheng asked casually, “Dr. Lu is in a good mood?”

Eager to share his joy, Lu Dangui opened a picture on her phone and showed it to Xing Cheng: “Doesn’t this look like me?”

The photo showed several teenagers dressed in hospital gowns, standing in a row posing for a picture while holding a colorful line drawing. Besides sunflowers, dinosaurs, and a small sun, the drawing also included a stick figure in a white coat.

A line of text was crookedly written on the top of the stick figure’s head: Dr. Lu, Happy Birthday! 🙂

Xing Cheng: “…Doesn’t seem like it.”

Lu Dangui snorted, completely ignoring Xing Cheng’s answer. He opened the settings, combined the cake his sister had given him with photos of several children, and changed it to his phone’s wallpaper.

Xing Cheng squinted and looked away from Lu Dangui’s ugly desk.

Just as he never understood why some people would suddenly start getting angry for no reason, he also didn’t understand why the young doctor was so happy.

Joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness were all human emotions, but for him, they seemed to be something dispensable.

After escorting the superstar to the hospital entrance, Lu Dangui turned around and said goodbye to Xing Cheng with light steps: “Bye.”

When you’re in a good mood, everything seems pleasing to the eye. Even this old nemesis surnamed Xing doesn’t seem so hateful anymore.

“Have the media issues been dealt with?”

Walking up to the black sedan, Xing Cheng asked Xing Shi.

“Yes.”

Xing Shi bowed slightly and opened the car door for the young master: “Most of them came after hearing about the attack at the hospital. Only one or two families came specifically to stake out the place after hearing some rumors. They have all been dealt with by Uncle Xun.”

Xun Bo was an elder of the Xing family and a capable subordinate of Xing Jingshan. During the time Xing Jingshan was away from the country, he was in charge of managing all the affairs of the Xing family.

Hearing that Xun Bo had personally intervened to resolve the matter, Xing Cheng nodded slightly and said nothing more.

After getting into the driver’s seat, and not receiving any instructions from the young master for a while, Xing Shi turned around and asked, “Young master, shall we go back to the main residence now?”

Xing Cheng closed his eyes, his facial features hidden in the shadows cast by the car window: “Waiting for someone.”

….

Led by Jian Jingjing, the young patients sang a birthday song for Lu Dangui and smeared a lot of cream on the tip of his nose.

Carrying a bag of candy given to him by the children, Lu Dangui left the hospital building with a satisfied heart, preparing to go to the nearby subway station to take the train home.

This was the most joyous birthday he had ever had in so many years. Not only were there surprises prepared by his sister and friends, but also blessings from colleagues and patients.

If we’re really going to count, there’s even former Golden Peak Film Emperor, Xing, a famous star, accompanying him.

Thinking of this, Lu Dangui almost laughed at himself.

He never imagined that after casually getting through the previous twenty-seven years, his twenty-eighth year would start like this.

As soon as Lu Dangui stepped out of the hospital building, he saw a black sedan parked at the entrance. Xing Cheng’s tall bodyguard stood by the car door, as if waiting for someone.

Lu Dangui turned around alertly, but was stopped halfway by a bodyguard: “Dr. Lu!”

The tall man hurried over to him, raised his hand and made an inviting gesture: “Young Master is waiting for Dr. Lu in the car. I’ll give Dr. Lu a ride home.”

—Nothing good ever comes from getting involved with someone surnamed Xing.

After being drugged by Xing Yu and then taken home and sexually assaulted by Xing Cheng, this sentence became Lu Dangui’s motto in life.

Even tonight, as he stood by the window, he felt a fleeting pang of sympathy for Xing Cheng. But that feeling was short-lived, and he quickly regained his senses.

There are no 100% good people in this world, and naturally there are no 100% evil people either.

No one will be unconditionally kind to another person. It’s not that he doesn’t trust Xing Cheng; it’s that he doesn’t trust human nature.

Seeing that Dr. Lu was indeed as unmoved as the young master had said, Xing Shi used his trump card: “The young master said he wants to talk to you about the previous ‘Confidentiality Agreement’.”

….

The moments of happiness that Lu Dangui had painstakingly accumulated vanished.

He almost forgot.

The relationship between him and Xing Cheng was not just a matter of being even after a fling; it also involved an agreement worth tens of millions!

In order to see patients as soon as possible, he signed the papers without thinking. Looking back now, he realized he had dug himself a huge hole.

Sitting in the back of the car with his eyes closed, pretending to doze off, Xing Cheng heard the sound of the back door being opened.

After a while, another person appeared beside him.

Having completed the task assigned by the young master, Xing Shi lit a cigarette and stayed outside the car to keep watch, giving his master and Dr. Lu some space to be alone.

When he first learned about the relationship between the eldest young master and Dr. Lu, he always thought that the two were either in a consensual relationship or, like the second young master, were secretly playing a master-servant game behind his back.

However, through his quiet observation over this period of time, he gradually discovered that the eldest young master seemed to always be the one taking the initiative.

And it wasn’t just ordinary initiative; it was the kind where they went to great lengths to get closer to him…

For example, the thing the young master just instructed him to do.

Thinking of this, Xing Shi took a deep drag on his cigarette.

The world of the rich is truly complex.

….

The heater was on in the car, and Xing Cheng was only wearing a white turtleneck shirt with the cuffs rolled up to his elbows, revealing half of his pale skin.

Seeing Xing Cheng’s languid appearance, Lu Dangui asked somewhat awkwardly, “Mr. Xing, did you come to see me about the Confidentiality Agreement?”

Xing Cheng raised his eyelids and asked him a completely unrelated question: “Was that night with me, Dr. Lu’s first time?”

Lu Dangui: “…”

I’m so annoyed.

This person’s thought process is truly bizarre. What does it have to do with the confidentiality agreement? Is it the first time or not?

“Is this related to a confidentiality agreement?”

“Yes, because it was for me,” Xing Cheng said.

Lu Dangui’s eyelids twitched suddenly.

In the eight years since his debut, he had been linked to five or six girlfriends, two of whom directly confronted him, vying for his position as the main girlfriend, and even trended on social media for several days.

That was Xing Cheng’s first time, who was he kidding?

Seeing the young doctor’s face clearly saying “I don’t believe it,” Xing Cheng didn’t bother to explain further. He simply put one hand in his pocket and lazily said, “I thought Dr. Lu had a pleasant experience that time too.”

Gritting his teeth, Lu Dangui maintained his smile: “Mr. Xing, I thought you called me into the car to discuss serious business.”

I’m not here to hear you analyze our bedtime history, OK?

Xing Cheng’s voice rose slightly at the end: “Isn’t that right?”

Lu Dangui turned his head away and looked out the window, not wanting to talk to this person.

In fact, the impact of that accident was more serious than he thought.

He wasn’t particularly sensitive before, and he didn’t experience frequent sexual urges. However, in the past month, he had been relieving himself much more often than before.

On those nights when he was alone in the bathroom, panting, the image of this person would always appear in his mind.

After a brief period of pain comes endless pleasure; the effects of the medication remained, and the body’s reactions were honest.

Having been single since birth for over twenty years, he had had to confront his sexual orientation.

If it was just a casual fling between adults, then having multiple sex partners isn’t a big deal. It satisfied physical needs and filled the emptiness of living alone.

But this person was none other than—

“I have an idea,” Xing Cheng said, changing the subject, “I wonder if Dr. Lu would be willing to accept it.”

He raised his hand and knocked on the window. Xing Shi, who was standing outside the car, heard the sound and quickly took out a document from the front seat briefcase and handed it to the young master with both hands.

“If Dr. Lu is willing, then the previous confidentiality agreement can be invalidated.” Xing Cheng placed the document in front of Lu Dangui’s lap and said casually, “After all, the compensation amount is not small, and Dr. Lu hasn’t been sleeping well, has he?”

What’s this guy up to now?

Lu Dangui frowned slightly as he picked up the agreement from his lap.

Xing Cheng’s words were not wrong. The confidentiality agreement contained too many clauses. Even if he did not intend to disclose them, there would always be times when he accidentally did so. If he really violated the confidentiality principle and the Xing family blamed him, he would not be able to afford to pay for it even if he went bankrupt.

But before the old issues could be sorted out, a new one arrived.

Lu Dangui felt that he was caught in a vicious cycle, one wrong step leading to another, and if things continued like this, he would probably only become more and more entangled.

In the dim light from the car roof, he could make out the title of the document:

[Private Support Agreement]

“You decide on the monthly living expenses, and you can ask Xing Shi for housing arrangements.” Xing Cheng said very casually, placing his hands on his abdomen. “We won’t affect each other’s work or private life, it’s just about sleeping together.”

The monthly fee line on the agreement was still blank; he had given the junior doctor a blank check, which he could fill in as much as he wanted.

He didn’t fill in a specific amount because he knew the young doctor had a strong sense of pride. If he had written down the amount, the young doctor might have felt like he was being treated like a commodity.

However, to him, this person was indeed just a commodity. Something that could stir his emotions and give him pleasure.

He did this simply to satisfy his desires; there was no other meaning behind it.

Xing Cheng thought to himself.

….

Lu Dangui did not immediately tear up the agreement in his hand, but threw it directly at the face of the person in front of him.

He looked up into Xing Cheng’s eyes, maintaining his last shred of composure: “Mr. Xing, I’m telling you this one last time. I don’t lack money, nor do I need your help. Stop humiliating me with this kind of thing.”

He put the agreement back on the seat intact, grabbed the car handle, and was about to push the door open and leave.

“As far as I know, Xing Yu pays participants at least eight figures each year.”

When Lu Dangui heard the person behind him speak slowly and deliberately, his words were like sharp blades, piercing his heart: “Dr. Lu, if it weren’t for the money, why would you attend my brother’s banquet?”

The hand that was pushing open the car door stopped.

He said that on purpose.

He had already sent people to investigate and knew that Lu Dangui had been tricked by Xing Yu into participating in the hunting game.

But he still wondered where this person’s bottom line lay beneath that gentle and harmless exterior.

The young doctor froze.

He couldn’t see the young doctor’s expression, only that he slowly released the car handle and turned towards him.

Thud—

A dull thud echoed in the cramped carriage. Xing Cheng turned his head slightly, revealing a bright red mark on his cheek.

He was punched by the young doctor.

Realizing this, Xing Cheng’s expression remained unchanged. He only felt a dryness and hoarseness in his mouth, and his heart began to pound violently, struggling to burst out of his chest.

The beast within him roared and awakened once more.

“F**k you, Xing Cheng.”

Staring intently at the calm, composed man before him, Lu Dangui gritted his teeth, a low, animalistic panting sound emanating from deep within his throat: “Do you know why my sister is in a wheelchair?”
