As soon as Su Xi pushed open the door, she saw Lu Huan slowly raise his head and glance at Yu Pei: “Are you without hands or feet?”

Su Xi: …

Yu Pei: …

Su Xi thought to herself that she was wrong. She had some kind of illusion that Lu Huan was kind to others.

Yu Pei’s face turned pale and red by turns. She threw her luggage on the bed and stormed out of the room.

Su Xi would probably already feel lucky if she didn’t dislike the cub after being rebuffed like that, let alone like him.

She walked in, looking disheveled, and glanced at Lu Huan. The 1.85-meter-tall boy was sitting backwards on a stool. When he saw her, he immediately stood up, his eyes sparkling as he boasted, “I’ve wiped all the tables and chairs clean.”

Su Xi felt his posture was a bit strange; he wasn’t facing her directly when he spoke to her, but rather standing sideways… She exclaimed in frustration, “…Lu Huan, why are you facing me with your right cheek?! That’s it! No more kissing, don’t even think about it!”

Lu Huan looked at Su Xi with a hint of disappointment. So, she only kissed one cheek at a time?

Mother Su would be coming up soon, so Lu Huan didn’t want to linger. He quickly mopped the floor for Su Xi and went downstairs through the other side of the stairwell.

When Mother Su came in, she was surprised by Su Xi’s efficiency. She had only been out shopping for less than half an hour, and Su Xi had already made the bed, tidied up the clothes, wiped down the tables and chairs, and even washed the entire sink!

Mother Su was overjoyed, feeling that Su Xi was finally able to handle housework on her own, while Su Xi felt extremely guilty.

After giving her some instructions, Mother Su left, and just like that the start of the school year was spent cleaning.

The first two days of school were just for registration, no classes. So Su Xi and Lu Huan went to a furniture market and a large supermarket to get all the things that were missing from the apartment.

The apartment had two rooms, one for her and one for Lu Huan. They were both very busy, but felt very fulfilled.

After finishing all that, Su Xi ordered a brown tabby flat-faced Exotic Shorthair[1] from the cattery and excitedly waited for the cat to be delivered to her after it received its vaccinations in half a month.

Classes officially began on September 5th.

Before transferring to this school, Lu Huan had grown up in an orphanage. For some reason, his homeroom teacher felt a strange sympathy for this handsome boy and even tried to apply for subsidies for him. Only after Lu Huan gently refused did the homeroom teacher give up.

Because of this, when Lu Huan asked to sit with Su Xi, the homeroom teacher agreed almost without hesitation— he said that Su Xi was the only person he knew in the city. When the homeroom teacher heard the boy say this, his heart broke!

Since Huo Jingchuan and Gu Qin had already been told that Lu Huan was going to transfer, neither of them was too surprised.

As the three of them expected, the day Lu Huan stepped into the class, their class immediately erupted in chaos.

A tall, handsome guy, 1.85 meters tall! Even more handsome than Huo Jingchuan! And alive! The classmates were extremely excited and crowded around him, as if they had seen a rare animal in a zoo.

The girls made it very clear; the next day, they all washed their hair.

Su Xi: …

I’m so annoyed.

All the girls in the class were extremely envious of Su Xi, who was able to become deskmates with a transfer student right at the start of the semester.

When Lu Huan first started learning, he found it quite difficult to adapt, especially to mathematics. Although he had already studied the Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art[2], he had never encountered some special symbols before, so starting from scratch was very unfamiliar and difficult.

He had already taught himself English before, and apart from spoken English which he had to learn from scratch, he already had some basic knowledge of the other subjects.

As for history and geography, he picked them up very quickly.

And the fastest for him was Chinese language.

The Chinese teacher, citing classical texts, discovered that only Lu Huan could answer his questions fluently on certain topics in the treatise on national policy. The teacher felt as if he had unearthed a treasure and became extremely fond of Lu Huan.

A week after the start of the semester, Lu Huan was adjusting himself to adapt to campus life as quickly as possible.

After class, Su Xi lay on the desk and asked him, “How are you feeling?”

Compared to his classmates who were all drowsy and sprawled out, Lu Huan was full of energy. As he copied down words, he said, “There’s no hierarchy or backstabbing here. I think it’s great.”

In the state of Yan, everyone who came to befriend him had some ulterior motive.

The long-term laborers, including Changgong Wu, sought refuge with him hoping for his protection. Wan San, Qian Zhong, Gan Ping, and others cooperated with him hoping to gain benefits from him. As for the Minister of War and others, needless to say, the relationship between ruler and subject was as chasm as an insurmountable chasm.

However, the seventeen or eighteen-year-old classmates around him were so innocent that Lu Huan found it somewhat unbelievable.

Some people approached him because he was handsome, some wanted to copy his homework, and others had more ulterior motives.

There was no hierarchy or conflict of interest between people.

Freedom and equality.

Su Xi smiled and was genuinely happy for Lu Huan.

She had been a little apprehensive, afraid that Lu Huan had come to this world because of her, but wouldn’t have a good impression of it. But now it seemed that, besides her, he could still gain more beneficial things from this world.

“It’s been a week since school started. Let’s invite Huo Jingchuan and Gu Qin to our house for hot pot tonight,” Su Xi said.

Lu Huan smiled and said, “Okay.”

The previous trio was now turning into a quartet because of Lu Huan’s appearance.

Gu Qin was very happy about this. Although it wasn’t hers, it was still nice to look at handsome guys all day long. But Huo Jingchuan wasn’t so happy. He felt like Lu Huan had taken away his friend.

Lu Huan gave the two of them the access cards, and then went to the supermarket with Su Xi to buy hot pot ingredients.

Huo Jingchuan and Gu Qin entered the apartment using their access cards. After looking around the apartment, Huo Jingchuan said suspiciously, “I always suspected that Lu Huan is a rich second generation. Even if this apartment is rented, it must cost a lot of money a month, right? And he’s a day student. Why would he leave such a nice place like the dormitory and rent an apartment outside?”

Gu Qin tried to turn the doorknob of one of the bedrooms, but found it wouldn’t budge. She asked in surprise, “Does he share an apartment with someone else? I saw some women’s things in the bathroom.”

Huo Jingchuan wasn’t as perceptive as Gu Qin, and said, “Could it be a relative of his?”

The two turned on the TV and waited listlessly for Su Xi and Lu Huan to return.

In the supermarket.

Lu Huan pushed the cart, putting the ingredients inside. Su Xi walked beside him, taking the opportunity to open her phone and watch the latest TV dramas on Hunan TV.

Lu Huan had no choice but to hold her hand.

Su Xi didn’t need to watch where she was going at all, feeling quite pleased with herself. If she were shopping at the supermarket with her mom like this, her mom would definitely slap her phone out of her hand! Having a boyfriend is so great!

Lu Huan glanced at her phone screen and saw it was another soap opera filled with love, hate, and heartbreak. He asked in confusion, “Why would the screenwriter write it like this?”

Because he had just integrated into this world, he had been asking a lot of questions lately, and Su Xi answered them all carefully.

So Su Xi looked up: “What do you mean? How else can we make it up?”

Lu Huan pointed to the screen in her hand and said, “Didn’t this person say they loved this person? How come they ran away after a little misunderstanding?”

Su Xi laughed: “If they don’t do it this way, where will the conflict come from?”

Lu Huan shook his head: “I have been alone since childhood. Xiao Xi is my only friend, my only family, and my most cherished lover. If it were me, I would love you and try my best to get closer to you and treat you better. But why do so many misunderstandings happen in these TV dramas, and why do men and women get lost and separated in the sea of people so easily?”

If someone else had said this, Su Xi would have thought he was being overly confident, but if Lu Huan said it, Su Xi knew that every word he said came from the bottom of his heart.

After spending a lot of time with him, you’ll find that he’s a very stubborn person.

He looked serious and scoffed at the protagonist in the TV series. Su Xi looked up at him, felt a surge of joy, and couldn’t help but tiptoe to reward him with a light kiss on his right cheek.

Nonsense, because you’re better than them.

Lu Huan’s throat bobbed, probably finding it unbelievable that he could get a kiss for saying those words?! So he opened his mouth, about to repeat himself.

Su Xi was a little bewildered. Wasn’t this person going too far?

She covered his mouth with her hand and snapped, “Stop nagging! Watch where you’re going and buy the goods!”

The author has something to say:

Lu Huan: I’ve got it. Buying gifts or saying a long speech will earn you a kiss.

The next day, Su Xi pushed open the door and saw a row of pink Barbie dolls sitting in front of the door, as well as Lu Huan, who was sitting at the door looking at her expectantly.

Su Xi: …………
