“You brat, I’ve finally seen you!” Mu Feng grinned at Jiu Jin, waving his fist. “Get down!”

“Get down for what? You think I didn’t beat you enough last time?!” Jiu Jin rolled up her sleeves. “Come on! Let’s see if Grandma doesn’t beat you to a pulp!”

“Hey, you brat, you’re calling yourself ‘Grandma’ in front of me!!” Mu Feng was practically laughing in exasperation at Jiu Jin. “If you’ve got the guts, then get down!”

“You come up!” Jiu Jin climbed out, hands on her hips, and stood on the carriage shaft, pointing a finger at Mu Feng.

“Get down!”

“Come up!!”

Lu Qian looked at the two speechlessly. “Xiao Feng, stop arguing, come here.”

Yu Linlang also climbed out of the carriage, seeing the two fighting like cocks, and couldn’t help but smile slightly.

Mu Zhao patted his younger brother’s head, “Don’t cause trouble in the street!”

Then he looked up at Yu Linlang, his eyes crinkling like stars, “Miss Yu, a chance encounter is better than a planned meeting. This plum blossom soup is delicious, why don’t we share a bowl?”

Yu Linlang felt a little hungry, so she nodded gracefully, “Thank you very much, Your Highness.”

Jiu Jin helped her out of the carriage, and she and Mu Feng, who was standing to the side, glared at each other, both huffing.

Yu Linlang tugged at Jiu Jin’s sleeve, then turned to Mu Zhao, “I’ve spoiled my maid. She even hit Young Master Mu last time. I’m so sorry.”

Mu Zhao met her gaze and smiled gently, “It’s just children fooling around. Let them sort it out themselves. We won’t interfere.”

“Big Brother!” Mu Feng, who had been called a child, shouted angrily.

“Stop fooling around! You just said you wanted to help the old man drive away the bandits, why don’t you go and take a look?” Mu Zhao glared at his younger brother helplessly. “Have the driver drive to an open area ahead to wait, so as not to block the way.”

Mu Feng then remembered the important matter and hurriedly ran back to the stall. He saw the guards helping the old man clean up the broken stools, chairs and other items on the stall, so he also stepped forward to help clean them up.

The old man at the soup stall dared not let this young master do it, and hurriedly reached out with a sheepish smile to snatch the broken stool from the young man’s hand, “Young master, young master, let this old man do it.” After quickly tidying up, the old man stepped forward and thanked everyone with a face full of gratitude, “Thank you all for your help, young masters and ladies. If you don’t mind, let this old man treat you to a bowl of plum blossom soup as a token of my gratitude.”

Mu Zhao smiled and nodded, “It’s a small business, so naturally I can’t let the old man spend money. Please give each of us a bowl, at the market price.”

“Alright, alright, please make yourselves at home, esteemed guests. I’ll go cook it in a moment.” The old man nodded with a smile and turned to instruct his apprentice to go with him to work.

Mu Zhao first invited Yu Linlang and her servant to sit down, and then sat down with Mu Feng and Lu Qian. The two women sat on a long bench, with Yu Linlang to Mu Zhao’s left and Jiu Jin to Mu Feng’s right.

As soon as they sat down, the two childish people started arguing again, grabbing at chopsticks and bowls. While Lu Qian, Mu Zhao, and Yu Linlang watched their antics expressionlessly.

Seeing the chopsticks flying around, Lu Qian, unable to bear it any longer, gave Mu Feng a light tap on the back of the head. “Stop making a fuss. If you keep this up, go to the next table.”

Seeing Mu Feng’s downcast face and pitiful expression, Lu Qian couldn’t help but chuckle. “You’re a boy, why are you always arguing with girls? Alright, alright, I’ll give you an extra chicken leg later. Don’t make a fuss anymore.”

Mu Feng’s eyes lit up.

Jiu Jin pouted, picked up the bowl and chopsticks in front of her young lady, and brought over a pot of hot water to carefully rinse them three times.

Yu Linlang met the three pairs of eyes that were silently watching her, and said in a serious tone, “Uh, well, I’ve always been a bit of a germaphobe since I was little.”

Mu Feng curled his lips and muttered to himself, “She really is a weirdo.”

At this moment, Lu Qian, who was sitting opposite the master and servant, suddenly seemed to remember something and asked, “Miss Yu, do you remember the old lady in the infanticide case?”

“The family of three who tried to extort money at the Hui Chun Tang pharmacy in the west of the city, and I exposed them?”

“Yes, that’s them.” Lu Qian nodded, her eyes sparkling. “You probably can’t imagine what has happened to her now.”

“You said earlier that the old woman was over fifty and should be pardoned.”

“That’s right, she was released three days ago to go home, but! On her way home, she was actually run over and killed by a mad bull.”

Mu Feng, hearing the bizarre story, immediately became interested and hurriedly interjected, “Ah? Brother Lu, why didn’t you tell me about such a strange thing?”

“I only found out about it last night.”

“Then how could she have been run over and killed by a mad bull?” Mu Feng asked with great interest.

“She was hit and flew to collide a tree. When the village coroner came to examine her, her body was already stiff on the trunk. They pulled her down from the tree and found something on her back.”

“What was it!” Mu Feng asked nervously, as if listening to a story.

“The King of Hell’s Palace, the King of Hell’s Decree.”

Mu Zhao narrowed his eyes, remaining silent, while his foolish younger brother exclaimed, “Huh? Brother Lu, you mean, this old woman was killed by someone sent by the King of Hell’s Palace?”

“The King of Hell’s Decree has reappeared!”

He turned to see the expressionless faces of the master and servant, and chuckled at Jiu Jin, “Little girl, you probably don’t know what the King of Hell’s Palace is, right?”

“Let me tell you, the King of Hell’s Palace appeared in the Jianghu three years ago. Three years ago, it caused a bloodbath and a terrible scene in the Jianghu, it was so tragic and terrifying.”

“Some people say that the King of Hell’s Palace only kills the heartless and unjust, pleading for the people and eliminating evil for them. In the past three years, it has indeed committed many major and minor crimes, and has killed several corrupt officials!”

“Let me tell you a secret, the King of Hell’s Palace has quite a reputation among the people.”

Mu Feng wanted to continue rambling, but the old man’s apprentice brought over a plate of soup noodles.

So Mu Zhao slapped him lightly, “Even eating can’t shut you up.”

Seeing the waiter bring the soup dumplings to the table, Mu Zhao gestured for the two girls to serve themselves first.

Soon, the conversation shifted from the somber prospect of death to “The soup dumplings are so delicious!” and “The chicken soup is so flavorful!”

Yu Linlang scooped a plum blossom-shaped soup dumpling from the large bowl, sipped it with the broth, and immediately beamed with delight.

Each dumpling was plump, a pale pink hue, floating in the golden chicken soup. A bite of plum blossom, a sip of soup— it was delicious.

The ancients were right; good food truly brings joy.

Lu Qian praised it highly, “The Chief Secretary really didn’t lie to us. This plum blossom soup dumpling looks so poetic and picturesque, and tastes incredibly delicious. It’s truly both tasty and beautiful.”

“Yes, no wonder those thugs came here to cause trouble. This old man’s skills are so good; he must earn more than other stalls.”

“Brother, we’ll come back here again tomorrow!”

“If Miss Linlang likes it, we can come again tomorrow.”

Yu Linlang paused, then turned to meet the smiling eyes of Prince Mu, and inexplicably smiled back.
