Lord Zixiang fled from the Demon Realm to the Light Realm with her family, and had been missing ever since. So she was likely hiding in the Real Dream.
To find the true nature of the dreams, you must start with the dream world itself.
Seraphim Luo Mi thus readily took on the task: “I’ll find it.”
The God’s Heart nodded slightly: “I will adjust the Ark.”
After a long period of quiet contemplation, Anos said, “The impact of this operation will inevitably be significant. The possibility of God awakening prematurely still exists. I will expedite the retrieval of the Chosen Ones.”
Luo Mi pondered for a moment, then looked at the God’s Heart: “Do you remember what I just said, what God once said to you?”
The God’s Heart shook its head: “I don’t have that part of the memory.”
“God also deleted it…” Luo Mi stroked his chin. “So, what did God want you to destroy? Why did He later ask you to delete this part of your memory?”
The God’s Heart paused for a moment before saying, “I have a guess.”
Luo Mi stared at him with wide eyes.
However, the God’s Heart did not follow up, but simply looked at him as well.
Luo Mi belatedly realized that the God’s Heart didn’t intend to speak. After thinking for a moment, he didn’t press the matter and instead looked at Anos: “How come you’ve merged again? How did your talk with Caroline II go?”
“This made it easier to communicate with her.” Anos gently rubbed his temples, his tone steady. “The Empire will fully cooperate with the Papacy’s actions.”
Noticing Luo Mi’s concerned gaze, Anos’s lips curled up slightly, and he reached out to hold Luo Mi’s hand tightly. “Don’t worry, I’m not a child anymore, and now is not the time to worry about these things. It’s enough to maintain a friendly relationship with Caroline II for now. We can talk about everything else after the apocalypse.”
Luo Mi gripped his hand tightly in return.
Anos leaned closer to Luo Mi and exchanged a lingering kiss, then glanced back at the phantom of the God’s Heart, his provocation palpable even to Luo Mi beside him.
The God’s Heart shifted its gaze and said calmly, “As the true form, I can forcibly possess any of your bodies.”
“That is, if our resistance isn’t too strong.” Anos snorted. “Right now, I have two consciousnesses.”
“Still the same.”
“You can give it a try.”
Seeing that they were about to start arguing, Luo Mi quickly interrupted, “By the way, there’s something else I wanted to ask the God’s Heart— I think I have a rough idea of what your ‘fall’ is.”
Anos frowned slightly: “What depravity?”
The God’s Heart looked over: “How did he fall?”
“The interpretation of ‘fall’ for you is ‘distancing yourself from God’s will,’ and you have betrayed God in every way. Even if God has some conspiracy, it has little to do with your subjective consciousness.” Luo Mi sorted out his thoughts and put forward her idea, “After hearing God’s words to you during this retrospective, I suddenly had a guess: Is it possible that betrayal is God’s expectation of you? Is it ‘God’s will’ for you?”
The God’s Heart stared at Luo Mi, showing no surprise on its face, and calmly nodded, signaling Luo Mi to continue.
“So what you call ‘fall’ is actually helping God— but this help can’t allow God to successfully achieve the end times, otherwise it would also be submitting to God’s will…” Luo Mi explained, looking expectantly at the God’s Heart.
The God’s Heart slowly frowned.
Anos glanced at them, a thoughtful look flashing in his heterochromatic eyes, and his voice softened considerably: “What do you mean by ‘fall’?”
Luo Mi then realized that he hadn’t told Anos about this yet. After hesitating for a moment, he decided not to hide it— it would be exposed sooner or later anyway.
However, he did not reveal the existence of the system, but only described it as a megaphone for God’s Wisdom.
After listening, Anos’s brows furrowed into a knot, his crimson and azure eyes fixed on Luo Mi, and he slowly said, “So… we’re both part of that ‘mission’?”
Luo Mi shrank back, his heart filled with guilt and unease, but he still bit his lip and nodded, explaining softly, “It was like that at first.”
Anos gazed at him calmly, his eyes swirling with a mix of emotions, before slowly turning his gaze away.
Luo Mi felt Anos loosen his grip on his hand, and a wave of panic washed over him.
But soon, that hand gripped his hand again, squeezing it painfully.
Anos didn’t look at him, but stared straight ahead, his voice as usual: “You liar. Don’t think this is all over.”
Luo Mi tried his best to relax his hand, but did not struggle, only subconsciously humming in agreement.
Anos lowered his eyes for a moment, then raised them again and continued, “Remember this for now, and I’ll settle the score with you properly after the apocalypse.”
Luo Mi was stunned for a moment, his heart filled with a turbulent mix of emotions, and in the end, he could only nod.
Anos seemed to be waiting for this response, then he pursed his lips and fell silent.
Luo Mi rubbed his eyes and looked at the God’s Heart.
The God’s Heart waited until they finished speaking before speaking: “There is one thing that can be considered— for God, He hopes that I can remain in a state of soul division, but I would prefer that my soul be reunited as one.”
Luo Mi was taken aback: “Is this all?”
He also hoped that Anos could have a complete soul, instead of being in such a fragmented state.
The God’s Heart said earnestly, “The vast majority of God’s arrangements are for the end times; only a few do not involve the end times themselves.”
Luo Mi bit his lip.
The God’s Heart looked at Luo Mi, “My remnant souls hate each other, which is a major obstacle to our reunification. However, I have some methods to deal with this. I can forcibly merge the three of us through some programs within the Ark. If you don’t want us to merge back, I will give up and delete those programs.”
Luo Mi was stunned, then pointed to himself: “I can decide?”
The God’s Heart nodded.
When Luo Mi looked at Anos, he found that Anos had transformed back into both the Holy Son and the Demon.
They both nodded to Luo Mi, clearly sharing the same intention as the God’s Heart.
Luo Mi suddenly felt a heavy burden on his shoulders, and he couldn’t help but stand up anxiously and pace back and forth.
Although neither the God’s Heart nor the two Anos deliberately emphasized the dangers of soul splitting, Luo Mi could sense from his daily interactions with them that soul splitting was definitely not a comfortable thing— and dealing with three lovers who would be jealous of each other was quite a challenge for him.
If there was a future after the apocalypse, Luo Mi naturally hoped that his lover could be whole…
Thinking of this, Luo Mi suddenly paused.
He had previously expressed to God’s Heart that he hoped to return to his homeland if given the opportunity.
If he was destined to leave this world, then whether Anos split or merged would make no difference to him— that was clearly what the God’s Heart thought.
Is that what they think of me? That I’d do anything to complete my mission?
A small spark of anger suddenly rose in Luo Mi’s heart, but that anger quickly turned into frustration and guilt.
He had no right to criticize Anos and his group.
He was the one who wanted to go back, and he was the one who wanted to complete the mission. Anos and the others simply stood behind him, respecting all his wishes, without trying to stop him or even trying to persuade him to stay.
If only there were a way to have the best of both worlds… But Luo Mi also knew that there couldn’t be so many perfect “haves” in this world; you always had to choose something and give up something.
He knew all too well that, given the nature of the Anoses, they would not complain if he made the decision; and that was precisely why he found it even more difficult to accept the sacrifice of Anos in exchange for his personal benefit.
Driven by his emotions, Luo Mi was about to blurt out, “If we can’t complete the mission, then forget it,” when a sudden thought struck him and he inexplicably calmed down.
The tasks assigned to him by the system were always based on “interests” rather than “feelings”.
Assuming the system was on his side, the purpose of this task was certainly not to see him make a painful choice. So, what was the purpose of this task?
Luo Mi repeatedly recalled the system’s description of the task in his mind, and finally his attention slowly settled on the task’s completion rate: (2/?).
That question mark, like a bolt of lightning, pierced Luo Mi’s thoughts.
He raised his head and looked at the God’s Heart: “You just talked about the merging of three of you? Are there no other remnant souls?”
The God’s Heart shook its head: “There is no sensation. Perhaps there are still some tiny remnants of the soul there, but it doesn’t have much of an impact.”
No, the system’s task prompt was clearly not like that. There should be another remnant soul of at least the same weight as them… Luo Mi refuted in his heart, becoming more and more certain of his guess: it would be a mistake to let the three remnant souls in front of him merge now!
Luo Mi took a deep breath, still feeling somewhat uneasy.
He was worried that he had made the wrong bet.
He worried that his judgment would prevent Anos from ever merging again.
But people always had to make decisions; they couldn’t keep running away from them.
So Luo Mi exhaled and said firmly, “Let’s give up on the fusion.”
The God’s Heart gave him a deep look and nodded slightly.
About two seconds later, he said, “The fusion program has been deleted.”
Almost at the same time, the long-lost system voice rang in Luo Mi’s mind:
[Mission Progress Update: Luring the Holy Son to Fall (3/4)]
[Please keep up the good work, host.]
….
Thomas Pelant, who had changed into his everyday clothes, waited at the entrance of St. Patrick’s Cathedral until Anos came out.
He was stunned when he saw Anos’s bright red eyes. He then came to his senses, stepped forward, and instinctively wanted to perform a bishop’s salute, but remembered that he was no longer a member of the Papacy, so he forcibly stopped.
Anos also saw him and nodded: “What is it, Your Highness?”
Thomas Perente sighed inwardly, but didn’t show it outwardly: “The matter you asked the royal family to investigate has been resolved.”
Anos raised his light golden eyebrows slightly: “Reinhardt?”
Thomas handed a file bag to Anos: “This contains all the information and records of his life and actions, including those within the Imperial Palace.”
Anos didn’t open it immediately. He just thanked him first before asking, “Have you found any trace of him?”
Thomas shook his head: “No. After you left the palace, he completely disappeared, and there was no trace of his departure.”
Anos frowned slightly.
When he came to the palace this time, he was in a state of fusion with the Holy Son. The Holy Son Anos valued Reinhardt, who was almost his only friend, and originally wanted to catch up with Reinhardt, but found that Reinhardt had disappeared.
As a suspicious demon by nature, the Blackwing Lord had always harbored doubts about Reinhardt, the Templar Knight who knew many of their secrets but whose loyalty was strangely high— yet even he couldn’t find Reinhardt’s whereabouts using magic and divine arts.
He had assumed that Reinhardt had been controlled or killed by the Empire, but the Empire had no reason to do so, and even so, the traces of it could not be completely hidden.
Therefore, they sent the Empire to investigate Reinhardt’s life, including everything before and after he came to the Holy Son’s side, to see if they could find any clues.
Unfortunately, that muscle-bound fool has already gone to the Demon Realm… The demon Anos habitually belittled his other self, then returned to the cathedral and opened Reinhardt’s record.
He quickly frowned slightly: “So it’s that little prince from the Duchy of Tri… who has connections with the alchemy school…”
This incident left a psychological scar on the Holy Son for many years. As the other half of the Holy Son’s negative emotions, the demon Anos naturally suffered greatly from it.
Aside from this unusual incident, there was nothing else about Reinhardt that seemed out of the ordinary.
After reading all the information, flames rose from between the demon Anos’s hands, burning the information to ashes.
If Reinhardt’s secret were just a regular one, Anos wouldn’t bother pursuing it out of consideration for their past friendship; however, given the crucial period of the Ark Project, Anos was worried that Reinhardt might be part of a divine plan.
After all, he had never noticed anything unusual about Reinhardt during their several encounters— being able to hide himself from him meant that Reinhardt was at least no weaker than him in some aspect.
