The silvery light was a step too slow, only managing to pull a portion of the people away.
But this did not affect the outcome— even under the protection of the angel, those people disappeared one after another in terror.
Subsequently, the earth, trees, and hills also disappeared as if they had been corroded.
Luo Mi noticed that even though those people were pulled into the air by the God’s Heart, the ground they had once trod on, and the blood-soaked, stumbling path they had trod, were still dug away with them out of thin air.
The God’s Heart stood silently on that giant rock, completely silent.
Luo Mi gazed at the earth and took a deep breath.
Compared to the time he came over, the earth had now been sheared away by a layer. The vegetation, tribes, and buildings had almost all disappeared. The giant rock they were on was only a little higher than the ground, but now it had become a cliff!
Was this the end of the world?
—It turns out that what was swallowed up was not only the “guilty” people of the world, but also the world that people had ever come into contact with?
Suddenly, Luo Mi saw in his mind the future that the former pope had seen with the Great Prophecy: a vast, empty white space with only a phantom in the middle.
Saint Gregory III and his interpretation of this blank world were once seen as symbols of divine power, but in this instant, Luo Mi suddenly had a simpler guess about this symbol:
That represents the emptiness after the entire world was completely devoured by God!
This conjecture sent a chill down Luo Mi’s spine.
The God’s Heart turned his head, and the sadness and confusion on his handsome face slowly settled, eventually turning into calm. Only his silver eyes occasionally showed hesitation and pain.
He seemed to have made a decision, and his hands trembled slightly as he decided not to save anyone.
Even so, he tied his long, silvery hair behind his head, resolutely jumped off the giant rock, and walked into the distance.
Luo Mi knew that this angel, created by God, had decided to betray God and offer his protection to those suffering the pain of the end times.
He also knew that this attempt would be a failure, resulting in the soul of God being torn apart, and the world suffering the threat of doomsday generation after generation, while the world’s power slowly kept being weakened.
Luo Mi instinctively wanted to call out to the God’s Heart, but then remembered that this was just an image he had seen in retrospect, and that the history that had already happened could not be changed.
In the end, he could only silently gaze at the departing figure of the God’s Heart until his power was almost exhausted, at which point he used the Scepter of Glory to return to his own time.
….
Inside the Cathedral of St. Patrick in the capital city of Hig, the Archbishop Eugen was performing his daily prayers before the cross.
Suddenly, he sensed something, opened his eyes, made a cross on his chest, and cast a divine spell.
The sacred flame was lit before him.
“Splash!”
Luo Mi, dressed in a papal robe, leaped out of the flames.
Bishop Eugen bowed deeply: “Your Majesty.”
Luo Mi nodded to him and asked, “Send a letter to the Hig Palace and ask Anos to come and see me.”
The seed of enchantment he had placed on Bishop Eugen had not yet taken effect. Although he had transformed into a complete seraph, the succubus’s power originated from the first demons who devoured the God’s Wisdom, and was thus also part of the seraph’s power.
Therefore, Luo Mi could still use the succubus’s abilities as before.
After regaining his strength, he immediately planned to consult with Anos. After using the Scepter of Glory to search, he discovered that both Anos were currently in the capital of Hig, so he immediately used the authority of the Seraphim to travel to the capital.
Bishop Eugen left as instructed.
Not long after, Luo Mi raised his head— the shadow beneath his feet wriggled, and a figure emerged, landing as Anos.
Anos stared at Luo Mi with his heterochromatic eyes, one blue and one red, looking somewhat puzzled: “What is it?”
Luo Mi did not answer immediately. Instead, he pulled him into a prayer room, set up an isolation array, and then plucked a feather, lit it, and summoned the phantom of the God’s Heart.
Anos frowned slightly, realizing that this matter was serious.
Once everyone had arrived, Luo Mi sat up straight and solemnly said, “I used the Great Prophecy Technique to rewind history once.”
Anos and the God’s Heart both turned serious at the same time.
The God’s Heart asked, “When did we go back in time?”
“From the beginning of the first era to the end of the second era.” Luo Mi briefly described the scenes he had witnessed, emphasizing the information revealed within them.
Anos listened carefully to the description of the apocalyptic scenario and looked first at the God’s Heart: “You didn’t tell us that God would devour the world itself.”
The God’s Heart was equally solemn. After a long silence, he finally said, “I don’t remember.”
Luo Mi was taken aback: “Forgot? No, it should be said… Has God tampered with your memories?”
The God’s Heart gently tapped his forehead, pondering for a moment: “Perhaps. But why?”
God was even willing to let him make the ark which was “futile” in God’s eyes, then why would he meticulously delete these subtle memories.
Luo Mi clapped his hands: “If it really is God who erased your memories, that would be good news.”
Anos and the God’s Heart glanced at him together.
“Think about it, why did we all think God was invincible in every way before, and had no idea how to attack Him? Because we only knew God’s purpose, but we couldn’t see God’s weaknesses or what He cared about… But now we can see that God doesn’t really not care what you plan to do. He just made preparations and thought that what you do would not affect Him.”
As Luo Mi spoke, he suddenly remembered something else. “All the popes throughout history have been able to use the Great Prophecy to rewind time, so they must have seen the end times. But no one recorded any of the information, which shows that God really cares about whether this matter will be known to people. Even the popes’ memories have to be altered and deleted— this further shows that God’s weakness is hidden here!”
These words were reasonable and well-founded, and the expressions of Anos and the God’s Heart softened considerably, and the tense atmosphere dissipated a lot.
Anos glanced at Luo Mi, his tone tinged with admiration: “Lian, you always see things we can’t.”
“That’s not it.” Luo Mi didn’t take credit. “It’s mainly because I happen to be immune to the will of God, and my way of thinking happens to be different from yours.”
Having grown up influenced by the idea that “God created everything and is omnipotent,” God’s Heart and Anos, even if they embark on a path of opposition to God, still do not doubt the myth of God’s creation of the world. However, after Luo Mi, who was once an atheist, guessed that God was a time traveler, his gaze towards God changed from looking up to looking at Him on equal terms, making it easier for him to discover the weaknesses behind God’s glory.
After pondering for a moment, Anos said, “The power of the God gradually weakens with the end of an era, but will suddenly increase after the apocalypse. It seems that it is not the amount of power contained in the humans they devour that matters, but rather the power of the world’s origin that they devour through humans.”
God absorbs the chosen ones, the chosen ones were connected to other humans, and humans were connected to the world they interacted with.
Luo Mi recalled what the Rose Lord had told him: “Is the upper limit of power in this world constantly decreasing because most of the world’s origin has been absorbed by the gods?”
The God’s Heart nodded: “It should be.”
Anos looked at the God’s Heart: “Can the transfer of humanity to the Ark sever this connection?”
God’s Heart shook his head: “Unsure. I haven’t considered this before.”
Luo Mi breathed a sigh of relief: “No wonder the God didn’t really hinder your Ark Project.”
Perhaps pulling all of humanity’s souls into the ark won’t solve the fundamental problem— even though people are gone, their connection to the world remains, and God might still be able to use these connections to devour the entire world.
This was the biggest apocalypse ever; God would devour the entire world.
Even if their ark remained intact and everyone’s souls were safe and sound by then, what difference would it make if they lost the real world?
Once they realized this, a chill ran down their spines.
Anos pursed his lips and looked at the God’s Heart again: “The Ark is your domain, can you adjust it?”
“It can be adjusted.” The God’s Heart understood what he meant, “but it needs a direction.”
What should we do? In which direction should we strive?
Anos quickly came up with an idea: “Analyze the connection between the Chosen Ones and ordinary people, see if this connection extends to ordinary people, and if so, whether it extends to the origin of the world and whether it can be modified.”
The God’s Heart said, “I’m already doing it. But the prerequisite is to modify these connections in which direction?”
God will follow these connections to devour the entire world. No matter where these connections point, they will be devoured by God… Where can we find something to replace the entire world?
Luo Mi asked, “Can’t we sever these connections?”
“If the connection with the world is severed, one will be expelled from the world.” The God’s Heart shook its head. “Moreover, if the change is too great, God may awaken prematurely.”
After all, God was not an AI that acted according to certain principles, but a living, breathing human being.
How can we adjust the relationship between humanity and the world to stop God?
To carve out a part of the world itself? Leaving aside the possibility of awakening the God, simply dividing the world is beyond their capabilities…
Luo Mi pondered for a long time, then inadvertently looked up and met Anos’s gaze, who had heterochromatic eyes.
As the two looked at each other, a sudden, unspoken understanding struck them, and their eyes lit up.
Luo Mi blurted out, “Lord Zixiang!”
—The Zixiang Lord’s “Real Dream”!
That was a world created by Lord Zixiang in the realm of spiritual consciousness, a world between reality and virtuality, and Lord Zixiang’s preparation for the apocalypse.
It was a false world, but it had some characteristics of the real world. Compared to the real world, it was just not large enough— this was partly because Lord Zixiang controlled too few dreams.
If we use the souls in the Ark to introduce more dreams, expanding this real dream to the point where it can almost replicate the entire world, and modifying all connections between humanity and the world to point towards the real dream, then what God absorbed would be that false world!
Luo Mi’s eyes grew brighter and brighter. If there weren’t still so many things to talk about, he would have jumped up immediately.
The God’s Heart was a step slower, but he reacted just as quickly, a thoughtful look flashing in his silver eyes: “The foundation of the real dream is the pure demonic power of the succubi and nightmare, which may not be able to deceive the God.”
Luo Mi clapped her hands: “That’s easy to say, we’ll just help Lord Zixiang make some changes. Actually, the last time I visited the Real Dream, I felt that there was more holy light in the Real Dream, and I suspect that Lord Zixiang received some benefits when she was hit by the Divine Punishment Wave.”
After a few words of discussion, the group quickly came up with a preliminary plan.
Thus, the first task became very clear: finding Lord Zixiang.
