Before setting off, Luo Mi conveyed to the demon Anos the Empire’s request to meet with him.

The demon Anos’s expression became somewhat complicated. After a moment of silence, he said, “I will go with him.”

Luo Mi looked at him with some curiosity, then his eyebrows relaxed, and he patted his shoulder happily: “I’ll leave the Empire to you.”

The demon Anos glared at him, then his body turned into a shadow and vanished into nothingness.

Luo Mi had already “seen” several cardinals walking towards them, so he quickly put on his papal robes and used divine magic to purify the table, the throne, and the air before resuming his dignified papal posture.

Soon, the cardinal entered and, without noticing anything amiss, presented a report: “Your Majesty, the St. Peter’s Abbey requests that you investigate the disappearance of the monks.”

Luo Mi raised an eyebrow: “Disappearance?”

He picked up the report and skimmed through it.

The report described the recent mysterious disappearances of several people at St. Peter’s Abbey. They vanished as if they had simply disappeared from the face of the earth, leaving no trace, not even their bodies. The ascetics at St. Peter’s Abbey investigated using magic, but found nothing. As the disappearances continued to spread, even affecting some of the ascetics, the abbot was forced to appeal to the Pope for help.

The ascetics investigating the disappearances also summarized the common characteristics of the missing persons and found that they were all monks and teachers from Class 3, Year 1.

St. Peter’s Abbey scheduled new members to study theology, architecture, mathematics, and more, making it essentially the world’s highest institution of learning.

Luo Mi remembered that John, the chosen one who was first taken back by the body of the Holy Son in the God’s Heart, was a first-year student.

John… Luo Mi’s heart skipped a beat, and he probably made a guess.

He stood up: “Then let’s go take a look.”

….

The Scepter of Glory stood in the center of the classroom, radiating pure holy light. The surrounding scenery shifted continuously within the holy light, like a videotape being played in reverse.

Luo Mi stared at the images, then gently tapped his finger, and the images stopped.

A young girl in a nun’s habit was patiently reading a textbook of sacred texts while copying it down beside her.

While the abbot of St. Peter’s Abbey nodded: “It’s Irene, one of the missing people.”

Luo Mi nodded.

Without him making any move, the video started playing normally again.

The nun named Irene was completely absorbed in her textbook and did not notice the change in herself— a faint silver light had begun to emanate from her footsteps, like cracks appearing on porcelain.

The silver light spread extremely quickly, covering Irene’s entire body in the blink of an eye, before vanishing like summer dew without leaving a trace.

The abbot’s expression turned serious: “Your Majesty, what has happened?”

As the largest monastery of the Papacy, St. Peter’s Abbey required all bishops to undergo training and examinations at the abbey, thus granting the abbot immense authority, who was nominally on par with the Pope.

Of course, as an ascetic, the abbot’s philosophy leaned towards isolationism, advocating asceticism and penance, so he never participated in the power struggles of the Papacy.

Luo Mi thought for a moment and replied, “A month ago, John and Lina were called by God in St. Paul’s Cathedral. When their bodies disappeared, this silvery light appeared as well.”

The dean frowned: “You mean, God called them away? But it’s not the end of the world yet…”

The dean naturally understood that John was God’s chosen one, but there had never been a case before where God began to draw people away before the end of the world!

Luo Mi’s expression had turned solemn and devout: “Divine power is as vast as the sea, and the will of the gods is unfathomable.”

The abbot nodded reluctantly, then pondered for a moment before adding, “However, we cannot rule out the possibility that some corrupt individuals might attempt to harm the monastery.”

Luo Mi said, “Then we’ll have to be extra careful. You can arrange for people who might go missing to be placed separately and kept in watchful eyes in shifts. Don’t hesitate to ask if you need my help.”

The dean also had this intention, and bowed slightly to Luo Mi: “Thank you, Your Majesty.”

Luo Mi waved his hand generously— he believed that the God’s Heart could pull people into the Ark without being blocked by people in reality, and even if it was blocked, he could help release the water at that time.

However, the God’s Heart had already begun to use the reclaimed Chosen Ones to recruit people… Luo Mi walked out of St. Peter’s Monastery, looked up at the sky, and his expression was slightly solemn.

In other words, time was running out.

….

After checking on the progress of the search for the Chosen Ones and the defensive fortifications at the border of the Light Domain Barrier, Luo Mi finally found an opportunity to go to the Sun to investigate the Eternal Fence.

When he truly transformed into a Seraphim, he sensed the sun in the sky. The authority of the Seraphim allowed him to travel directly to all places of holy light and fire, so he could leap onto the sun whenever he wished.

When Luo Mi finally arrived at the sun of this world, he found only a blazing fireball.

Unlike Earth’s sun, which was a star many times larger than planets, the sun in this world was only the size of a house, formed from extremely dense sacred fire— that fire was almost solid, radiating eternal light and heat, illuminating the earth below.

Luo Mi’s figure appeared and disappeared in the sacred fire, and one could feel the terrifying power contained within the flames.

He believed that if he still had the same physique that merely maintained balance, he would probably have been completely burned away by the extremely pure sacred fire long ago.

Luo Mi stepped back slightly and stared intently at the fireball.

From this perspective, the flames on the sun’s surface writhed, forming complex and mysterious patterns, as if hiding thousands of divine magic arrays; and the shapes of those patterns rearranged make the sun look like a giant eye.

Luo Mi couldn’t help but think of the myth of Pangu creating the world on Earth, in which one of the eyes transformed into the sun.[1]

At the center of this sacred flame, Luo Mi sensed something that seemed to be connected to him.

He made his body ethereal, merged into the sun’s interior, and sank into its center.

There, there was a fence that looked like it was made of bamboo, rather simple and even a little ugly— of course, that was just an appearance; an ordinary bamboo fence could not possibly stay intact in the center of the sun.

As Luo Mi approached the bamboo fence, the fence automatically flew closer to him, circled him twice, and trembled slightly, giving Luo Mi the inexplicable feeling that he was seeing a puppy.

This was the eternal fence that supported the entire light domain… Luo Mi stared at the bamboo fence, and inexplicably felt a sense of intimacy welling up inside him.

He reached out and touched the Eternal Fence— the Eternal Fence moved closer and affectionately let him touch it.

Some fragmented images suddenly flooded into his mind.

—A pair of fair hands tore off bamboo stalks and casually wove something, talking to the person beside them as they wove. They seemed unaccustomed to this kind of thing, so the woven items were awkwardly shaped, uneven in thickness, and looked like they might fall apart at any moment.

A soft chuckle came from the side, seemingly mocking the hand’s poorly woven fabric. When the hand’s owner looked over, they met a pair of smiling, dark brown eyes…

Luo Mi blinked: “What was that just now?”

He glanced down at the Eternal Fence, which had circled him twice more, and roughly pieced together his thoughts: it appeared to be the scene of the Eternal Fence’s creation. The scene included the person who created the Eternal Fence and the person with dark brown eyes beside him.

Because of the first-person perspective, the only valuable information was the pair of dark brown eyes opposite.

Those eyes seemed somewhat familiar to Luo Mi.

It wasn’t that he had seen these eyes before, but rather that the color and shape of their pupils felt familiar and natural to him… just like, just like the ordinary people he used to see all the time on Earth! Completely different from the features of the white people in Europe and America in this world!

That was a person of Asian descent!

Luo Mi suddenly realized that the language revered as “sacred script” by the Vatican was Chinese, the language on Earth.

At the time, the system explained that “the author of the original work only knew English and Chinese.” Luo Mi treated this world as a virtual environment like a VR game and didn’t pay much attention to it… But now the truth hidden beneath the illusory surface was gradually being revealed, and the existence of the so-called “original work” was questionable. The source of the language used by the Vatican has become a neglected point of doubt.

Now, Luo Mi had a guess: because there was a time traveler from Earth in the past in this world!

Besides him, who else? Luo Mi pressed his chest, unable to help but mutter to himself, “Could it be me?”

But Luo Mi had no sense of immersion or déjà vu in that scene; it was like watching a movie— and the dark brown eyes opposite him didn’t look much like his own.

“More handsome than me…” Luo Mi muttered, focusing on the identities of these two people in this world.

According to the official account of the Vatican, the three sacred artifacts were all created by God himself. Theoretically, the person in the main perspective should be God, and the one who could talk and laugh with God was probably the first angel created by God, the God’s Wisdom.

However, Luo Mi, who shared the same Seraphim identity as the God’s Wisdom, felt a strong sense of familiarity with the Eternal Fence, leading him to lean towards another theory: the Eternal Fence was created by the God’s Wisdom! That transmigrator with dark brown eyes was the God!

Hiss… Luo Mi touched his chin, feeling a bit troubled.

He called out to the system twice in his mind, trying to ask about his relationship with the other transmigrator, but the system still did not respond.

In any case, the purpose of coming to the sun this time had been achieved… Luo Mi glanced at the Eternal Fence circling around him and muttered silently, “Kidnapping this guy was too easy, wasn’t it?”

The Eternal Fence was like an abandoned dog that had been left behind by its owner for thousands of years, yet it still waited faithfully!

Luo Mi touched the Eternal Fence again, and the Eternal Fence stretched out its bamboo strips in delight.

Luo Mi’s voice softened slightly: “Wait a little longer, it’s not the right time to take you away.”

The Eternal Fence got completely stuck, then fell with a “thud” and landed at Luo Mi’s feet. Suddenly, it pounced on Luo Mi and hugged his leg.

Luo Mi, both amused and exasperated, pried it apart, patiently comforted it for a while, and played with it for a bit before it was finally able to leave the sun and return to the holy city.

After returning to the Holy City, he plucked a feather, intending to light it to connect with the God’s Heart, but after a moment’s thought, he put it down.

Luo Mi’s gaze fell on the scepter of glory beside him.

After becoming a Seraph, he could wield the Scepter of Glory freely without fear of being devoured by the power of the God… In that case, rather than questioning the God’s Heart, Luo Mi had a bolder idea:

He could use the Scepter of Glory to see the gods who were still walking on the earth in the Second Age or even the First Age directly!

[1] Pangu or Pan Gu (also sometimes spelled Peng Gu and P’an-ku) (Chinese: 盤古; pinyin: Pángǔ; PAN-koo) is a primordial being and creation figure in Chinese mythology and in Taoism. According to legend, Pangu separated heaven and earth, and his body later became geographic features such as mountains and flowing water. In the Chinese creation myth, Pangu’s left eye became the sun and his right eye became the moon.
