Song Yiyi and Fu Xingfan then introduced their respective roommates.

The food had been ordered but hadn’t arrived yet when Ye Feng took out his phone and said enthusiastically, “Let’s add each other on WeChat? We can be friends and hang out together sometime.”

“OK.”

Seeing her roommates take out their phones to scan the QR code, Shu Mian hesitated for a moment and then showed her own QR code. Could she take this opportunity to add Tan Xuzhe on WeChat?

She glanced over instinctively and saw the man leaning lazily against the back of his chair, his fingertips casually swiping across his phone screen.

Perhaps he remembered what he said when he rejected the senior: “What would I use if I gave it to you?”

Shu Mian’s roommates all tacitly avoided going to Tan Xuzhe.

She was also a little hesitant, what if she got rejected like that senior student…

Just as she was struggling internally, Tan Xuzhe across from her suddenly stood up.

Immediately afterwards, a tall figure loomed over her, and a deep, lazy voice descended from above, “You haven’t added me yet.”

Shu Mian looked up and met his dark, deep peach blossom eyes.

My heartbeat is like a limited-edition wind chime; it rings out when I encounter him.

“How?”

Tan Xuzhe stood in front of her, a slight smile playing on his lips. “You added them all, but not me. Looks like you have a problem with me?”

Fu Xingfan and Ye Feng were both shocked. People often tried to recruit Tan Xuzhe on the confession wall, and sometimes they joked in the dormitory that they would sell his contact information to make a fortune.

But he wasn’t interested at all and even told her not to reveal his WeChat, which must have dampened the hearts of countless girls.

Why would someone like that take the initiative to add a girl on WeChat?

Cheng Ji wasn’t surprised at all, and sneered inwardly.

Ah, he said there was a burning smell; it turned out Tan Xuzhe had started a fire.

Shu Mian gently pursed her pink lips, “No, it’s just that I heard… it’s hard to add you on WeChat.”

Tan Xuzhe raised an eyebrow and said slowly, “It depends on the person.”

“Oh, I see.”

Shu Mian scanned his friend code with her phone. His profile picture was the original WeChat profile picture, a gray and white silhouette of a person. His nickname was also simple, just the letter T, which was quite in line with his carefree and unrestrained personality.

Upon seeing this, Song Yiyi and the others scanned his friend code.

After Tan Xuzhe finished adding the friend, he sat back in his seat and found the cartoon orange cat avatar in his friend list, which Shu Mian had drawn herself.

His gaze fell on the four-character WeChat nickname— “Su Su”.

It really was her.

In the second semester of his junior year of high school, Tan Xuzhe was depressed and world-weary for a period of time. He once received a letter and a small plush keychain.

His desk was always filled with a bunch of fancy love letters, but he couldn’t be bothered to read them.

That day, he happened to see a plain kraft paper envelope in a corner of a pile of colorful love letters, covered by an ugly-cute little rabbit keychain.

He opened it and looked at it as if by some strange impulse.

He thought it was a love letter, but it didn’t express any affection at all.

The letter began with: Have you been feeling down lately? I don’t know what to do to cheer you up. Being praised would probably make you happy, right?

The entire page of the letter was thus filled with praise for him, from head to toe.

Was he really that good?

Tan Xuzhe even suspected that this person might have obtained some kind of system with tasks involving praising others.

Written by Su Su.

He thought it was because the name contained the character “Su” or the surname was “Su,” but he never expected it to be completely unrelated.

Even more interesting than the letter was that adorably ugly plush keychain. Squeeze it, and a voice with altered pronunciation came out— it’s the Monkey King’s voice.

He was even seriously reciting one joke after another… The jokes weren’t that funny, but he just thought the guy was quite amusing.

He couldn’t help but look up at the girl opposite him. It was her, clumsily trying to make him happy.

Shu Mian felt that a gaze from the other side kept falling on her. So she mustered up her courage and looked up. Tan Xuzhe was looking down at his phone.

Sure enough, it was just her imagination; why would he be looking at her?

Fang Yao, who was to her left, suddenly nudged her arm. “Look at your phone.”

Shu Mian unlocked her phone in confusion. Fang Yao had sent her a message two minutes earlier:

[Tan Xuzhe actually liked your post on WeChat Moments! The one where we got pulled over by the traffic cop on our electric bikes. He just offered to add you on WeChat, and as soon as we connected, he checked your Moments. He definitely likes you!]

What was that?

Back then, when she was caught posting on WeChat Moments to collect likes, her classmates and friends were all very enthusiastic, and she never clicked the red dot that appeared on the screen.

After hearing Fang Yao’s words, she clicked in and saw that the latest notification was indeed a like from Tan Xuzhe.

Shu Mian stared at the notification and checked it several times, feeling utterly hopeless.

Her WeChat Moments were set to be visible for only three days, and this was the only post that was currently visible.

Tan Xuzhe looked at her WeChat Moments, and it just so happened to be such a ridiculous post.

Shu Mian even went to check and saw that he hadn’t liked the post Fang Yao had shared with her on WeChat Moments.

So, he only looked at her WeChat Moments?

Or did he see it all and just accidentally liked it?

Xiang Sang, sitting to her right, reminded her, “Mian Mian, stop playing on your phone. All the dishes are served. Come and eat.”

“Oh, okay.”

While eating and chatting, after discussing the recent military training, someone brought up the topic of clubs, and everyone started talking about which clubs they had joined.

Perhaps seeing that she didn’t speak, Ye Feng asked, “Shu Mian, what clubs have you joined?”

“A press corps,” Shu Mian said with a forced smile, “and I also joined a drum and percussion club.”

Cheng Ji exclaimed, “You can play the drums? Tan Xuzhe can play the drums as well.”

“No, I joined the publicity department.”

Of course she knew that Tan Xuzhe could play the drums, and the reason she joined the club was that she thought he might join too.

That would have given her more opportunities to see him, but unfortunately he didn’t join.

Those who have a crush know best the feeling of wanting to create a chance encounter but ending up disappointed.

“What clubs did Tan Xuzhe join?” Song Yiyi asked.

Cheng Ji answered for him, “He hates trouble the most. He didn’t want to join anything at first, but I dragged him to join the student council.”

“I regret it.”

“What do you mean? Why are you regretting joining the student council with me? My brother is the student council president, isn’t it good that he’s protecting us?”

Shu Mian was afraid of being exposed, so she didn’t dare to look up, but she listened with curiosity.

Hearing Tan Xuzhe’s lazy voice, “I should have joined the drum and percussion club.”

She looked up at him abruptly— if only he had known, he would have joined the percussion club!

Seemingly noticing her gaze, Tan Xuzhe casually looked over, his eyes landing on her, a lazy smile playing on his lips, and he raised an eyebrow slightly.

Shu Mian’s heart pounded, and she looked away without daring to meet his gaze.

Was she overthinking it?

They quickly moved on to other topics.

Tan Xuzhe’s phone rang. He frowned, glanced at it, and casually tapped the screen twice.

Cheng Ji saw his displeased expression and asked, “How many accounts of Lin Xuan’s have you blocked?”

“Lin Xuan?” Fang Yao asked curiously, “It’s not that Lin Xuan from the entertainment industry, is it?”

Shu Mian then whispered to her roommate, “I’m going to the bathroom.”
