Apart from that hotpot meal, Nan Xiangwan hardly left her room during the entire holiday.

Gu Beihuai had gotten addicted.

Fortunately, she had to record a song on the last day of her holiday.

The new album had ten songs. The other teammates had all recorded their parts in batches, and only Nan Xiangwan’s solo part and the seven-person chorus were left.

That evening, she appeared at the Nanbei Entertainment Recording Studio, completely covered up.

The other six members of Destiny Girls had already arrived, chatting excitedly. When they saw Nan Xiangwan appear, they rushed over excitedly.

They had just finished watching the movie, which received rave reviews, and were very excited.

But before they could fully pounce, they saw that Nan Xiangwan was followed by another person.

Gu Tianwang!

The six of them seemed to slam on the brakes, abruptly stopping and turning around, casually looking down at the lyrics, no longer chatting.

They could be more casual with Nan Xiangwan, but not with Gu Tianwang.

He won’t tolerate this!

After entering the studio, Nan Xiangwan took off her coat and stretched her arms and legs wearing a comfortable, loose-fitting sportswear.

Gu Beihuai stood beside her, supporting her, never leaving her side, as if afraid she would run away.

Zhu Sha, with her sharp eyes, stared at her neck for several moments.

Ge Dongxuan asked in a low voice, “What’s wrong, Captain?”

Zhu Sha lowered her head, not daring to speak.

Zhou Wenxia gasped in surprise, then covered her mouth.

At this point, everyone noticed and began whispering among themselves.

Oh my god! They saw the strawberry marks!

So many! Abundantly packed!

Her entire neck is covered!

Nan Xiangwan felt much better after moving her hands and feet. This was mainly because her bones had been stiff and her muscles had atrophied from lying down for so long.

Next came recording the song, and thankfully, the teammates had almost finished recording.

They recorded the chorus part first, and got it in one take.

Nan Xiangwan was just about to ask them about the emotional details of each song when she saw them run away after recording, as if they were being chased by dogs.

The recording studio was immediately emptied, and then Gu Beihuai chased away all the sound engineers.

The huge recording studio was suddenly left with only the two of them.

Gu Beihuai stepped forward and loosened Nan Xiangwan’s tightly tied collar, wanting her to sing more comfortably.

Once opened, one strawberry after another appeared beneath the collarbone, incredibly tempting.

Gu Beihuai couldn’t resist pulling the zipper down a little further.

A ditch was suddenly revealed.

He couldn’t resist and kept pulling down.

When the zipper was half open, his pupils dilated, and he lowered his head to kiss it.

….

The sound engineer arrived at work at noon the next day.

Upon opening the door, they found Nan Xiangwan recording a song, while Gu Beihuai was catching up on sleep at the sound mixing station.

Sound engineer: “??”

What the heck? They recorded all night?

No way! Nan Xiangwan, a genius who could sing any song in one take, actually had to record all night?

Immediately, the sound engineer’s gaze towards Gu Beihuai turned somewhat unpleasant. The Heavenly King’s demands were far too high!

At least from the sound engineer’s perspective, Nan Xiangwan’s voice was perfectly fine, never cracking or going off-key, which was already excellent. How much more could it be perfected?

The Heavenly King is truly inhuman! He actually kept that young girl in the recording studio working for so long!

The sound engineer was furious, but dared not disturb Gu Beihuai’s nap.

Gu Beihuai woke up, but was too lazy to open his eyes; his hands were sore.

The sound engineer stood trembling in the back, picked up his headphones, and gestured to Nan Xiangwan inside the recording studio.

Recording’s done, run!

When the Heavenly King wakes up, he’ll make you record it again.

That day, news of Gu Tianwang’s exploitation of employees spread like wildfire throughout the company, and everyone spitted at him.

….

The holiday was over, and Nan Xiangwan was on a plane bound for Beijing.

Her phone, connected to the first-class Wi-Fi, kept receiving chat messages.

Calabash Brothers

“Ge Dongxuan: @Nanxiangwan A Wan, I want to pet a cat.”

[Nan Xiangwan: I’m back at school. Go to my place yourself. The password is…]

[Sha Ling: Can I go too?]

[Nan Xiangwan: Of course, you can go if you want. My house is quite big, you can even stay there. I remember the heating in the villa might be faulty, right?]

[Deng Sinan: Yes, it’s not fixed yet, it’s freezing! General Manager Zhao was going to send someone to fix it, but he seems to have forgotten.]

[Yun Qian: @Nanxiangwan Can I do a somersault at your house?

[Ge Dongxuan: Hahaha!]

[Zhu Sha: The new album is finished ahead of schedule. There are still two weeks until the 20th. The company is handling the promotion anyway, so let’s take a break and relax a bit. Once it’s released on the 20th, it’ll probably be another busy period until the end of the year.]

[Zhou Wenxia: How about we go to A Wan’s house for a get-together? She has a cat.]

[Sha Ling: @Nanxiangwan, how many cats do you have in total?]

[Nan Xiangwan: Four cats. Oh, by the way, the cats aren’t at my house. They’re at Gu Beihuai’s next door. He’s taking care of them for me. You can go to his house and pet them.]

The group suddenly fell silent, as if it were a dead group.

After a long while…

[Ge Dongxuan: I suddenly remembered, my mom wants me to come home. Let’s have the gathering another time.]

[Zhu Sha: I have a variety show project here. Huawan Entertainment is putting all their eggs in one basket with me, so I’m quite busy.]

[Zhou Wenxia: My boss begged me not to go anywhere else, so yeah, I’m not going.]

[Sha Ling: There’s a bit of a commotion at the Nanbei Entertainment Center. I’ll go back and see what’s going on.]

[Deng Sinan: Yes, I have something to do too.]

[Yun Qian: Okay, let’s get together next time.]

As if they had planned it together, they came up with one reason after another, each one seemingly flawless.

Nan Xiangwan was completely confused and was just about to ask for clarification when another group message popped up.

It was a new group, created by Gu Beihuai.

Who to kill today?

The group name exuded a sense of dominance, and the group members were all bigwigs from their own side of the investment.

There was Gu Beihuai, the representative of the artist incubation base; Zhao Tiancheng, the president of Nanbei Entertainment; and Lang Hu, the president of Nanbei Finance. Now Lang Hu was a legitimate investor, and he could invest in whomever he wanted, although the boss behind him was still Gu Beihuai.

Next up were Nan Xiangwan, whose connections to various powerful figures were unknown; Shao Fu, president of Huawan Entertainment; Cheng Xue, vice president of Huawan Entertainment; and Shen Xuepeng, president of Huashi Financial.

Later, some company bosses were also brought in. Gu Beihuai seemed to want to be more direct; once the target was identified, he would share the information in the group.

It was worth mentioning that Hong Shang, the boss of Yipin Entertainment, was also there; that was, the agency where Zhou Wenxia worked.

He was brought in by Zhao Tiancheng, and Gu Beihuai closed the group after he joined.

To be honest, Yipin Entertainment was far from qualified; compared to the big shots in the group, it seemed insignificant and humble.

But this Hong Shang was particularly shrewd. In every operation, he steadfastly followed Nanbei Entertainment and Huawan Entertainment, doing exactly what they asked. Nanbei and Huawan got the lion’s share, while he got the scraps. After a whole year of scraps, he single-handedly propelled a small, unknown company into the top ten entertainment companies in the country.

The reason Zhao Tiancheng valued Hong Shang was not only because he was shrewd and capable, but also because he treated the artists in the company very well.

Once, when the Destiny Girls’ Group was short-handed for a concert, Hong Shang flew over overnight to be Zhou Wenxia’s assistant…
