Bai Yue could clearly sense that Mu Sihan was avoiding him, and this feeling became even stronger after that night.

Basically, aside from communication between the disciplinary team and the training camp, the other wouldn’t initiate a single word with him.

It was as if they had returned to the beginning of their acquaintance.

However, regardless of how Mu Sihan viewed him, Bai Yue maintained his consistent attitude.

Furthermore, during his investigation of Du Qin’s phone, he made some new discoveries.

Basically, the contacts could be ruled out as either the disciplinary team or the Masked Men organization.

The former’s members were all students. Moreover, after joining the disciplinary team, Bai Yue discovered that the organization’s internal communication was extremely transparent. It was almost impossible for them to abuse their power for personal gain.

At the time on Lia Star— during the period when that mechanical voice communicated with him— the entire disciplinary team was in the monitoring room. They shouldn’t have had time to do such a thing.

As for the Masked Men organization, although they seemed to also intend to disrupt the selection process, they were only targeting the disciplinary team.

Later, the incident ended without serious consequences, and no one died. Bai Yue felt that it was actually the organization’s doing.

It was unlikely that they would send out giant wolves and then sabotage the process themselves.

Looking at Du Qin’s email again, Bai Yue realized the contact person had learned of the selection results immediately and was very familiar with the students’ situations.

“…”

A guess formed in Bai Yue’s mind.

Could it be a faculty member?

The teachers who had accompanied them during the selection process included counsellors from various departments, staff from the virtual training ground, and technicians from the monitoring room.

Compared to ordinary students, this made it easier to act and investigate student information without arousing suspicion; it was indeed highly likely.

However, this was merely a logical guess. More concrete evidence was needed.

Bai Yue looked at his hands.

The person who contacted him seemed very interested in the S+ level identity. He had refused outright due to the urgency of the situation.

If this person tried to contact him again later, it might be an opportunity.

The training camp was in full swing.

With only two weeks left until the school sports meet, almost every day was packed with special training.

To improve efficiency, the few remaining members were divided into several groups.

Bai Yue received the group list and was assigned to Group A. Shang Yufei was in Group B.

Shang Yufei looked somewhat displeased, seemingly unhappy with the group assignments.

The other members of Group B trembled. This meant they would have to be in the same team as this troublesome troublemaker for over ten days.

After seeing the group assignments, they all exchanged knowing glances.

Except for one person.

Mu Sihan was also assigned to Group B. When he saw the familiar name on the list, he frowned.

Although the members of each group trained in the same venue, they did different exercises.

Compared to the other groups, the entire Group B team seemed listless. As a result, two people in the team stood out.

They avoided looking at each other, but if their eyes accidentally met, sparks would fly.

Bai Yue finished his warm-up and looked up, just in time to witness this scene. Mu Sihan was the first to look away and walked to the far corner of the team.

Bai Yue crossed his arms.

The two had only known each other for a short time and hadn’t spoken much, so why was there such a big conflict?

As teammates, Shang Yufei and Qin Fei got along quite well, only Mu Sihan was different.

He couldn’t understand it and shook his head.

At this moment, the members of Group B had no idea that this was just the beginning of a nightmare.

The instructor blew a whistle: “Training begins!”

The training courses for each group progressed from easy to difficult, but Group B’s training started at a nightmare level.

The first thing they did was special training in running.

One of the athletics students was full of confidence. Even if he couldn’t beat others in combat, his endurance and explosiveness were second to none.

Just as he finished warming up and was ready to show his prowess, he was overtaken as soon as he started running. He was already slow at the starting line.

The athletics student was stunned, then comforted himself: It’s okay, it’s okay, I can catch up.

However, after running a few steps, he was overtaken by another person.

The athletics student was dumbfounded.

More than ten minutes later, the instructor blew a whistle: “First, Shang Yufei! Second, Mu Sihan!”

The time difference between the first and second place was only a fraction of a second.

The teacher recorded the time, looked at the students who were late to the end, and said with exasperation: “Didn’t the others eat? They’re so far behind!”

The others caught up, panting heavily, and collapsed to the ground after crossing the finish line.

To minimize the gap, they carried an immense burden.

After that, running, long jump, and combat became almost exclusively a competition between Shang Yufei and Mu Sihan.

The instructor was satisfied, yet urged the B group members to catch up.

Compared to the harmonious and collaborative progress of other groups, B group’s training was like they were on steroids.

During a break, Xu Chengdong saw this and wiped his face, saying, “Group leader, thank goodness I’m grouped with you.”

At the end of the day, the B group members were exhausted. They slumped on the ground, looking utterly hopeless.

The instructor nodded repeatedly.

“Everyone made great progress today, everyone exceeded their limits. Let’s continue tomorrow!”

Hearing this, the members who had been sitting on the ground immediately collapsed.

At dusk, the setting sun was half-hidden below the horizon.

Shang Yufei brushed his bangs back, his forehead already beaded with sweat.

“You’ve worked hard.”

A male voice came from behind him. He turned around and saw Bai Yue.

Bai Yue was holding two bottles of water, handing him one.

Then he looked around. Seeing Mu Sihan squatting not far away, tying his shoelaces, Bai Yue walked over, bent down, and handed the bottle to him, saying, “Here you go.”

Mu Sihan paused, not immediately taking it, but instead looking up.

His icy blue eyes reflected the orange sunset.

Bai Yue placed the water bottle at his feet, stood up, and said, “There are still more than ten days of training left. You guys are pushing yourselves too hard.”

Mu Sihan didn’t speak.

When Bai Yue returned to Shang Yufei’s side, the other had just put down his water bottle. He wiped the water from the corner of his mouth.

Bai Yue said, “He’s just not talkative.”

Shang Yufei frowned, glancing at the boy not far away. The boy had picked up the water bottle from the ground, and was now staring at the label, seemingly lost in thought.

He looked away. “That’s not the point.”

“Isn’t it?” Bai Yue laughed. “I thought you were angry because he ignored you when you were talking to him.”

Shang Yufei was annoyed. “Am I that childish?”

Even if he got angry for that reason, the target would only be Bai Yue. He didn’t care about other people’s attitudes.

Bai Yue was just joking.

Seeing that the atmosphere had eased a bit, he said, “Although we don’t necessarily have to be friends, why are you being so confrontational?”

Shang Yufei was silent, his fingers unconsciously clenching tightly.

It was a very subtle feeling. Bai Yue probably couldn’t understand it.

But looking at that guy’s eyes, he felt inexplicably uncomfortable. Even though the surface was covered with a layer of frost, there was a suppressed aggression inside. Especially when looking at Bai Yue.

Bai Yue heard the sound of plastic deforming. Looking down, he saw the crushed mineral water bottle.

He reached out, pulled the bottle out, and threw it into the trash can next to him.

“When we officially compete, our opponents will be rival schools, not our teammates.”

“You haven’t forgotten what we promised the teacher, have you?”

Shang Yufei was silent for a long time, then frowned: “I know.”
