As the ancients said, “Feelings should be expressed but restrained by propriety.” Moreover, in Xiao Xi’s world, people couls only talk about marriage at the age of twenty. Lu Huan’s rationality told him that he should get up quickly and go back, but he was also afraid that everything Su Xi had told him tonight was like a beautiful dream, and that once he went back, the dream would end.

Su Xi had never slept in the same bed with a boy before, and even though she was fully dressed, it still made her heart race.

Her reason told her that she should kick Lu Huan back to his own bedchamber, but perhaps once she began to feel love, she would feel a lot of reluctance to part with him.

She wasn’t sleepy at all, and even wanted to cover her head with the blanket and chat with Lu Huan.

Lu Huan rolled over and got out of bed.

Su Xi couldn’t help but stop him, whispering, “Are you leaving? Let’s talk under the covers. Keep it down, my mom won’t hear us.”

“I’m not leaving.” Lu Huan squatted by the bed, looking at her with bright eyes, and whispered, “I won’t leave as long as you don’t kick me out.”

Su Xi was finally happy.

Lu Huan reached out and ironed her pillow, then covered her with the blanket and said in a low voice, “Lie down and go to sleep.”

Su Xi lay down, put her hands under the covers, and turned to look at him: “And what about you?”

“I’ll be right by the bed.” Lu Huan knelt on one knee by the bed, propping his head up with his elbow, and repeated, “Can I stay here?”

This was exactly what Su Xi wanted to hear, and she happily said, “Okay.”

The boy was very tall; even when he squatted down by the bed, he was still a large figure.

Moonlight streamed in through the window, falling on his face. Although his long, black hair cascaded down his back and his robes were like those of an immortal, judging from his expression, he didn’t seem to have travelled through a thousand years of time. Instead, he appeared to be a vibrant young man in love.

He looked at Su Xi, and Su Xi tilted her head and looked at him back.

Su Xi couldn’t help but get up, lie on the bed, pull the blanket over her shoulders, cover her head, and also cover Lu Huan’s head beside the bed.

Su Xi and Lu Huan were standing very close together, their breaths overlapping each other’s.

Lu Huan’s ears turned slightly red, as if they were about to bleed, and he asked in a low voice, “What’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing, it just feels amazing.” Su Xi whispered, “Don’t let my parents’ constant pairing of me and Huo Jingchuan fool you. If they knew I was actually dating, they’d beat me to death.”

Lu Huan said, “Seventeen years old is considered puppy love on your side, but the princes of Yan who are seventeen years old already have many wives and concubines.”

Su Xi said, “You still have something to say? Look at other people, they have a bunch of wives and concubines at seventeen, and you, you’re still forcing others not to look at other women.”

Lu Huan smiled.

He gazed at Su Xi and suddenly said, “Xiao Xi, I want to be with you forever, to stay by your side forever…”

“No matter what happens in the future, no matter what stands between us, whether it’s time or hardship, I only want you. Although I can’t let go of the Yan Kingdom, if I really have to make a choice, I will still come to your world…”

Even if it’s selfish.

He had so much to say.

He understood that, to Su Xi, he was not some boy who often played basketball on the playground in this world, nor was he the kind of handsome guy who could take her to the movies. Dating someone like that would definitely be much easier; she wouldn’t have to think about things in two different worlds, nor would she have to worry about the other person suddenly disappearing from this world one day.

But he also wanted to say that if she liked it, he would learn to drive, just like any other boy in the world, get a driver’s license, drive a horse-drawn carriage with four wheels, take a bouquet of flowers from the trunk, and invite her to a movie…

Being with him might bring some setbacks, but no matter what difficulties arise, he will run to find her.

He was not afraid of anything else.

His only fear was that one day he would make her feel awkward.

He feared that one day, he and his world would become something she wanted to escape from.

The blankets covered their heads, making them feel hot and flushed.

Lu Huan didn’t finish speaking, but Su Xi understood all his unease.

Her heart softened, and she couldn’t help but rub her nose against his straight nose.

She pulled the blanket up a little and whispered, “No matter what happens, I’ll be with you. Don’t you understand? This is a choice I made because I finally realized I like you, not something you forced me to make.”

Hearing the word “like” from her again, Lu Huan felt as if he had eaten his favorite cake, and his heart was filled with satisfaction.

He thought to himself that he wanted to give her the best of everything in the world, but he couldn’t say it out loud.

Su Xi looked closely at Lu Huan, a few rays of moonlight shining through the gaps in the quilt, making his incomparably handsome face seem almost within reach.

Su Xi stared at his eyebrows, eyes, and then slid down to his lips.

Su Xi involuntarily turned into a face-obsessed fangirl who was about to faint.

She suddenly remembered something, covered her face, and said happily, “Once I get my ID card, you can show up at my school once.”

Lu Huan reached out and brushed Su Xi’s hair, which was messed up by the blanket, aside, and asked in a low voice, “What’s wrong?”

He thought Xiao Xi wanted him to pick her up from school like the boys in this world, but—

Su Xi’s eyes lit up as she said, “My boyfriend from ancient times is so handsome, it would be a waste not to show him off.”

Lu Huan: …

Lu Huan thought to himself, wishing that everyone in the world would go blind so that only he could see her, or that he could take her back to Yan and hide her away so that no one else could see her.

But she seemed completely unconcerned about what others thought of him.

Fortunately, the word “boyfriend” cheered Lu Huan up a little.

In any case, a boyfriend who is acknowledged is always better than one who isn’t.

“Okay,” Lu Huan agreed.

He gently pulled the blanket off Su Xi’s head and helped her lie down.

He tucked the blanket around her and said, “Go to sleep, I’ll stay with you.”

The author has something to say:

Su Xi: I wonder what Lu Huan’s wish is for his eighteenth birthday.

Lu Huan, resentfully: Guanyin, my only wish is to make Xiao Xi jealous, very jealous, and jealous again (she’s never jealous).

After hearing Lu Huan’s wish, Su Xi went home, unscrewed the bottle cap, poured a cup of vinegar into it, drank it down, and happily said to Lu Huan, “See? I’ve granted your wish!”

Lu Huan: …Don’t bully people from ancient times. Everyone knows that’s cola, not vinegar.
