Hearing rustling sounds from the room, Mother Su walked to the door and knocked, asking, “Xi Xi, are you there?”

Su Xi hurriedly moved the chair to the left and said, “Yes.”

Mother Su pushed open the door and saw that Su Xi was the only one in the room. Su Xi was sitting at her desk doing her homework. Perhaps the air conditioning in the room was set too low, so she had covered her knees with a jacket. This girl knew not to wear shorts in an air-conditioned room. Wearing shorts in an air-conditioned room in the summer would definitely give her rheumatoid arthritis when she got old.

Mother Su felt very gratified and went over to take a look at the test paper that Su Xi was writing.

Su Xi was terrified. She secretly glanced under the table out of the corner of her eye, her palms sweating with nervousness.

Her desk was by the window, with cabinets on both sides. You couldn’t see the boy crouching under the desk from the doorway or the side, but you could definitely see him if you walked behind her.

If her mother were to discover that a handsome boy had suddenly appeared in her room, she would definitely be accused of puppy love and bringing someone home, and she would be in no position to clear her name.

Fortunately, her mother was too lazy to walk more, so she just glanced at her homework and asked, “I saw a boy’s shoes in the entryway and thought Xiao Huo was here. Why isn’t he here?”

Su Xi scribbled on the draft paper, pretending to do calculations, and said, “Oh, he came to play this afternoon, but he’s already left.”

“He’s gone? Why didn’t he stay for dinner?” Mrs. Su turned to leave, then realized something was wrong: “He’s gone, so why are his shoes still at our house?”

Su Xi felt a chill run down her spine, but pretended to be nonchalant and said, “He probably forgot. He must have accidentally walked away wearing our slippers.”

Mother Su: “…”

“Kids these days play video games all day long, they’re so distracted. How could Xiao Huo be so careless…” Mother Su muttered to herself as she closed the door for Su Xi and went to the kitchen to cook.

The room then returned to silence.

Su Xi’s heart pounded as if she had just been on a roller coaster. She took off her coat from her knees, nervously slipped to the door, glanced outside, and only breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that her parents didn’t suspect anything. She then locked the door and returned to the table.

She crouched down and whispered, “Lu Huan, that’s enough, my mom’s gone.”

But then, under the table, Lu Huan was found with his knees drawn up, his head resting against the drawer, his dark eyelashes closed, fast asleep.

Su Xi squatted down in front of him and stopped calling him.

Although Lu Huan only briefly mentioned the flood in Chengzhou, Su Xi knew that he must have been exhausted from working for many days without sleep in order to reach 200 points as soon as possible. After arriving here, he was in a completely unfamiliar environment and probably couldn’t sleep at Huo Jingchuan’s house last night, so he fell asleep so quickly.

Su Xi felt a pang of heartache and wanted him to take a little longer to rest, so she quietly turned off her phone and put it on silent.

She then sat on the ground, propped her elbows on her knees, and looked at him with her chin in her hands.

The desk lamp on the table didn’t shine down, only providing a little light to Lu Huan’s chin.

His features were hidden in shadow, with handsome eyebrows and a straight nose, giving him a cold and beautiful appearance.

He was so quiet when he closed his eyes that people unconsciously held their breath, afraid of disturbing him.

His thick, raven-feather-like eyelashes trembled slightly involuntarily, casting a shadow on his eyelids and making people’s hearts itch.

Even from such a close distance, Su Xi looked at him intently, and couldn’t help but sigh inwardly once again, “This little one is so handsome…”

Unlike the boys in school whose main sport was basketball, he had some shallow scars on his arms, which were all visible because he was wearing short sleeves. The scar on his right arm was quite deep; it was an inconspicuous arrow wound.

He sat there with his knees drawn up, like a pine tree covered in snow, serene and still. If the table hadn’t been a little low, he would have kept his back straight even if he had accidentally fallen asleep.

Perhaps it was too quiet, because Su Xi could only hear her own breathing, which she tried to keep quiet, and her heart began to beat faster.

….

She couldn’t help but lean forward slightly, reaching out to touch the faint scar on his right arm.

When the wound was bandaged in the military camp, it was a bloody mess, which pained Su Xi greatly. Fortunately, the wound medicine from the store was very effective, and it healed in two months. However, some marks were still left on the boy’s overly fair skin.

With her cool fingers touching his arm, Su Xi felt some slightly uneven scars.

Su Xi took a deep breath, somewhat worried about whether he had a tendency to form keloids, and when these old wounds would finally disappear completely.

….

Su Xi felt the touch transmitted through her fingertips, listened to Lu Huan’s soft breathing so close to her, and watched the few strands of hair on his forehead gently ruffled by the air conditioner. Once again, she deeply felt that he was a living, breathing person in front of her, with flesh and blood.

He could hug her, hold her hand, or easily pick her up in his arms.

Did she like him?

Su Xi couldn’t imagine falling for a fictional character, or someone from another world she could never meet. But now, he was sleeping right in front of her, breathing realistically, with real blood flowing through him, and feeling real warmth…

So how could she not like him?

After all, the boy sitting in front of him with his knees drawn up was so handsome.

Su Xi could imagine what he would look like when he opened his eyes and looked at her; his expression would surely be like the first snow melting.

In fact, Su Xi had been with him for so long that she could almost imagine what he would be like at any time…

The wary look when he was still a little dumpling before the original artwork was released, the slightly indifferent look in his eyes when he looked at others, the look of deep emotion when he looked up at her through the screen…

After the original artwork was revealed, he appeared in armor covered in blood, his demeanor cold and ruthless in handling military affairs… and the undisguised brilliance in his eyes when he saw her…

Her son was very gentle. No matter how he treated others, whether he was indifferent and gloomy or cold as ice… and no matter what his mood was, whether he was happy or angry, he was always gentle and tender towards her, as if you could wring water out of him.

So how could she not like it?

Before he arrived, Su Xi was uncertain. She didn’t know what kind of feeling was stirring within her; perhaps it leaned more towards the feelings of friendship after two years of companionship? But Gu Qin was right about one thing: friendship was without possessiveness.

However, she still subconsciously wanted to escape, after all, crossing time and space was an inconceivable thing for Su Xi.

While Lu Huan was diligently learning about modern civilization and trying to integrate as soon as possible, she never imagined that one day he could actually stand alive in front of her like this… But now, he was indeed right in front of her, her fingers were touching his skin, and beneath his skin flowed hot blood… His eyelashes trembled gently, one after another, falling on Su Xi’s rapidly beating heart.

He had already covered 99.9% of the distance.

And she…

Looking at his handsome face, Su Xi’s mind went completely blank.

….

Just then, Lu Huan seemed to feel the touch of cold fingertips on his shoulder, his eyes rolled, and he suddenly opened them.

Su Xi leaned forward, staring at him intently, her posture resembling that of a pervert.

The two were sitting far too close.

It was as if their breaths had suddenly landed on each other’s faces.
