He didn’t even have a clock at home, because Qiao Huaize’s mental clock was extremely accurate. Knowing that it was only half an hour until New Year’s Day, he stood up, picked up the bag he had just bought, and went out the door.

Qiao Huaize’s home was on the top floor, with steps leading to the rooftop from the stairwell. He carried his bag and went up to the rooftop. As soon as he opened the iron gate, a gust of cold wind rushed in, but he didn’t care.

In the corner of the rooftop, there was something covered by a bag. Qiao Huaize opened the bag, revealing a small sofa underneath. He sat on the sofa, took out the wine from the bag, and sat on the thirtieth-floor rooftop, drinking and gazing into the distance.

The moon hung coolly in the sky, and Qiao Huaize could see the city center’s light at the horizon, like the Milky Way spilling across the gap between heaven and earth.

As midnight approached, even more people started setting off fireworks. From Qiao Huaize’s vantage point, he could see fireworks exploding in different places. Even in the relatively remote university town, the crackling sound of firecrackers could be heard.

The winter wind ruffled Qiao Huaize’s hair. He opened a bottle of baijiu, tilted his head back and took a sip, then immediately frowned in disgust.

He could tolerate anything, but what he couldn’t stand most was the world’s neglect of martial arts, to the point that even a good sword was hard to find. Another thing he couldn’t stand was that the alcohol was really bad.

It was midnight. Qiao Huaize’s inner sense of time told him.

He leaned back on the sofa, studying the ingredients and origin of the liquor. Just then, his phone started ringing incessantly.

All the students who were usually too shy to bother him always sent him text messages during the Chinese New Year to wish him happiness and fulfillment of his beliefs. Just after 12:05, Qiao Huaize had already received over a hundred text messages. In this era where everyone used WeChat to communicate, the fact that students were sending him text messages showed how deeply his aversion to smartphones was ingrained in people’s minds.

Looking at these messages, Qiao Huaize’s lips curled into a slight smile.

He put down his phone and gazed into the distance. He took another sip of baijiu (Chinese liquor). Although the liquor tasted terrible, after a few sips, his stomach gradually warmed up.

It seemed that nothing had changed for Qiao Huaize. In his previous life, he wandered outside the human world with only a sword and a wine flask, and it seemed that he was the same in this life.

However, this world was simply not suitable for cultivation. Even if Qiao Huaize practiced diligently from a young age and his skill level surpassed the few remaining martial artists, it would still be less than one-tenth of what he was back then. Qiao Huaize understood this, so he stopped forcing himself to continue pursuing progress and instead turned to starting his teaching career.

Practicing martial arts and teaching children were equally important to him.

Qiao Huaize loved drinking in both his past and present lives, but unfortunately, he was born with a low alcohol tolerance in this life. No matter how much he practiced, he couldn’t hold his liquor as well as he could in his previous life. After downing a bottle of baijiu, Qiao Huaize’s phoenix eyes turned slightly red, and he had become a little drunk.

He tilted his head back and breathed softly, as if the white mist he exhaled carried a hint of heat.

Snow began to fall from the dark sky.

Qiao Huaize squinted slightly; he always became a little languid when he was slightly tipsy. He didn’t feel cold, nor did he like to move, so he just sat there in the light snow.

Half-drunk and half-awake, just as he was about to fall asleep, Qiao Huaize felt a hand gently grazing his cheek. The warmth of that hand made him instinctively turn his head away.

“Xiao Ze, Xiao Ze…” a woman’s voice called to him with a smile.

Qiao Huaize gently opened his eyes. He seemed to be sitting under a tree, the ground covered in white frost.

A young woman squatted beside him, her long, black hair tied back, with a stray strand of hair, just reaching her ear, dangling in an unruly manner behind her ear. She reached out and tucked it behind her ear. Then, she smiled softly.

“Xiao Ze, look,” she said.

She stood up, drew her sword, pointed it to the side, and then focused intently. Her wrist then turned the hilt, and the sword flashed.

Qiao Huaize stared blankly as she danced with her sword in the light snow. Her steps were light and graceful, and although her swordsmanship was fierce, he saw that as her sword flashed, she managed to avoid every falling snowflake.

After finishing her routine, she sheathed her sword, stood still, and chuckled softly, “Xiao Ze, what sword technique did I just use?”

Searching for plum blossoms in the snow.

Eight-year-old Qiao Huaize and the now-adult Qiao Huaize murmured softly together.

“You’re so clever,” the woman said gently. “One day, you will learn it and surpass me. At that time, the world will truly unfold before you.”

Qiao Huaize opened his eyes.

It was already daylight. He looked down and saw that his body was covered in the light snow that had accumulated overnight. He then stood up and patted the snow off his body.

It was a bit cold.

However, Qiao Huaize didn’t care. After all, for someone who had been a sword saint and martial arts leader in his previous life, catching a cold was impossible. He could expel even a slight chill with his internal energy.

He returned home, took off his clothes, and found himself feeling very cold.

Qiao Huaize sat down at the table and picked up his water glass.

“Achoo—!” He sneezed.

Qiao Huaize’s eyes widened; he was stunned.
