Hearing that his elder brother accepted the conditions so easily, Xing Yu’s smile grew even wider.

He loosened the little model’s sweaty hair, pointed to the hotel room door, and gestured for the boy sitting on the floor to put on his clothes and get out of there.

“Actually, when I invited Dr. Lu to the banquet, it wasn’t for fun.”

Hearing the door close behind him, Xing Yu untied his bathrobe and slowly walked towards the indoor swimming pool: “Brother, do you still remember the concert you held at the City Stadium three years ago?”

Xing Cheng did not respond.

The concert held in the city stadium three years ago was the source of his nightmares for hundreds of nights afterward, and the original sin he could never forget in his life.

“…Was her leg injured in that accident?”

Xing Cheng’s voice was somewhat hoarse.

Long-suppressed memories resurfaced. This time, the emotional turmoil he felt was no longer driven by primal desires.

That was the beast within, struggling and roaring.

It sneered and said: Xing Cheng, face your sins.

“No way, bro.”

Xing Yu chuckled softly: “If it really was because of that accident, how could you not know, brother?”

The pool water gradually rose to his chest. He then spoke to the person on the other end of the phone, cruel yet gentle: “The young lady surnamed Lu was in a car accident on her way to your concert.”

“The accident happened at the intersection of Shanglin Avenue. I was on my way to see my brother’s concert when it happened. My convoy happened to pass by the scene. The ambulance was too slow to arrive, and her condition was quite critical, so I had the convoy clear the way and take her to the nearest hospital.”

“Although the hospital tried to save her, the girl’s injuries were too severe, and the doctors were ultimately unable to save her leg.”

Leaning back against the outdoor swimming pool, Xing Yu squinted at the stars in the sky: “I tried my best, bro.”

The person on the other end of the phone was silent for a moment, then asked, “Why have you never mentioned this to me?”

Xing Yu yawned lazily: “Brother, after that accident at the City Stadium, you were in a coma for more than half a month, and you almost became a vegetable. Your condition was so unstable at that time. If I were to tell you that a girl had an accident while trying to see your concert, wouldn’t that have worsened your condition even more?”

“That day, he went to your banquet—”

“It was to repay a debt of gratitude,” Xing Yu admitted frankly. “I saved his sister’s life, wouldn’t it be inappropriate for him not to step in?”

He spoke with reason and evidence, but he never mentioned the matter of drugging the junior doctor.

Xing Cheng said indifferently, “You took advantage of him.”

“Brother, that’s not exactly what I wanted to hear,” Xing Yu chuckled into the phone. “I’ve seen the news about you these past few days. Putting me aside for now, weren’t you also using Lu Dangui? What were you after? To avoid Lin Xiangni? To break off your engagement with the Lin family?”

Xing Cheng did not answer.

He hung up the phone immediately.

Upon hearing the busy tone on the other end of the phone, Xing Yu’s face stiffened for a moment, but the smile in her eyes remained unchanged.

He pressed the bell by the pool, and soon Secretary Gao took the elevator to the top floor and walked into the suite in high heels.

“You’re right, my brother has indeed started investigating that concert incident from back then.”

Standing up from the pool, Xing Yu shook the water droplets off his head, his tone suddenly turning cold: “Ah Lei, you guys still don’t handle things cleanly enough.”

Secretary Gao looked away from her master’s chest, which was covered in hickeys, and lowered her head with a hint of guilt.

After a long while, seeing that her master hadn’t spoken, she mustered the courage to ask: “But Mr. Xing… if the young master finds out you’re lying to him, what if he causes you trouble later?”

“He won’t.”

Standing in front of the huge floor-to-ceiling window, Xing Yu said calmly, “Haven’t you noticed that he’s been acting more and more impulsively lately?”

Looking down at the sleeping city, he downed his glass of red wine in one gulp: “The more impulsive he is, the more flaws he will reveal.”

….

Lu Wenfei had been feeling that something was not quite right lately.

Because her idol, who had been out of the public eye for a long time, has returned to the public eye, her emotions had been quite turbulent this week.

Before she could even recover from the overwhelming emotions of regaining what she had lost, she encountered another strange event.

She received an anonymous package.

The package was delivered directly to the parcel locker downstairs in the dormitory building, with her name listed as the recipient. The shipping label did not specify the sender’s name, and the address could not be found online.

Back in her dorm, Lu Wenfei opened the package and found three items inside: Xing Cheng’s autograph, a limited-edition commemorative album, and some long-out-of-print fan support materials.

She originally thought it was a gift sent by Chen Dafentou to comfort her, but when she took a picture of the contents of the package and sent it to Chen Queyue, Yue Yue the mom fan’s first reaction was to call and scream.

“Lu! Wen! Fei! You hid such a good thing and didn’t tell me!”

“This album is out of print, and that autograph— you can’t buy it anywhere anymore! Ahhhhhh—”

Lu Wenfei was also very excited, but she suppressed her excitement and patiently explained to her best friend, “It’s really not mine, someone else sent it…”

Chen Queyue explicitly stated that she did not believe it, and even made an appointment to come to S University next week to see Lu Wenfei Cheng Cheng’s autograph up close.

Although she couldn’t find out who sent the items, Lu Wenfei carefully hid them in her dorm room closet. She didn’t dare bring them home on weekends, nor did she dare leave them out openly, fearing her brother would be unhappy if he found them.

Yes, even after going through so much, she still couldn’t control her love for Cheng Cheng.

When she was thirteen or fourteen, she was experiencing a bout of teenage angst. Every day after school, she would drag her busy brother to talk about Cheng Cheng. She would recount everything in detail, from what he had done that day to what shoes he wore when he left the airport.

Although her brother would be sitting in front of the computer studying diligently, he would occasionally turn around and say a few words to me, showing that he was listening attentively.

She knew that her brother would just let everything about Cheng Cheng go in one ear and out the other, forgetting it as soon as he heard it. But she was happy as long as someone was willing to listen to her ramblings about Cheng Cheng.

If that accident hadn’t happened, she originally planned to work hard and earn money during her first year of university so she could take her brother to see Cheng Cheng’s concert, watch him dance beautifully, and listen to him sing wonderful songs.

In her imagined future, she might grow up, lose interest in idols, and stop being so obsessed with following celebrities. But she never thought that Cheng Cheng would one day leave the stage he loved most.

Xing Cheng had been away from the entertainment industry for almost half a year. Until last week, when she saw him trending on social media again.

He appeared in front of the paparazzi with the person he loved, his face beaming with happiness.

It was as if he was telling all his fans that he was doing well and that they didn’t need to worry about him.

Although she felt a little disappointed to see that Cheng Cheng had someone he liked, she was still happy for him.

It was wonderful that even after retiring, there was still someone who could love him on behalf of his fans.

Whether surrounded by lights or crowds, Cheng Cheng was such a wonderful person, he would surely find happiness.

With this thought in mind, Lu Wenfei gradually adjusted her mindset.

She secretly treasured the three items sent by the anonymous sender in her dorm room, unaware that this was just the beginning.

Over the next month, she received a steady stream of merchandise related to Xing Cheng. Those memories her brother had thrown away were being pieced together, one by one, by someone whose name she didn’t know.

The cramped dormitory room was crammed full of Xing Cheng’s belongings, each item being a limited edition that was no longer available on the market and was highly sought after by fans.

Later, because there were so many things, she even had to ask the boys in her department to help her pick them up from the courier station.

As she received packages more and more frequently, Lu Wenfei finally became restless.

Who kept sending her this?

How did that person know she liked Cheng Cheng, and even her detailed address at S University, including her dormitory room number and floor?

….

On Friday afternoon after school, Lu Wenfei and her classmates finished dinner in the cafeteria and were about to go to the movie theater near the school when she suddenly received a text message from her brother.

Dangui: [I’m downstairs of your dorm, haven’t you finished class yet?]

Lu Dangui had been quite busy at the hospital lately, and hadn’t been able to visit his sister at S University for a long time. So taking advantage of his afternoon off today, he quickly bought two bags of delicious snacks to bring over for his sister to enjoy.

Lu Wenfei, who was chatting and laughing with her classmates, was stunned when she received the message from her brother.

Seeing Lu Wenfei suddenly stop her wheelchair, her classmate beside her asked in confusion, “Wenfei, you—”

“I have something urgent to do and need to go back to the dorm first. You guys go to the movie theater first, don’t wait for me!”

Before her classmates could react, Lu Wenfei had already turned her wheelchair around and sped off towards the dormitory!

Gripping the lever on her wheelchair, she glided faster than a young couple riding bicycles on the tree-lined path, disappearing in an instant.

Normally, if her brother came to the school to see her, she would have jumped for joy.

But not today!!

Her dorm room was still piled high with Cheng Cheng’s merchandise, some of which she hadn’t even had time to unpack. If her brother found out she’d secretly hoarded so much Cheng Cheng stuff, she’d be finished!

Rushing to the dormitory building, Lu Wenfei didn’t see her brother, but instead found the dormitory supervisor standing at the door, smiling and waiting for her.

“Wenfei, your brother came to see you today.” The dormitory supervisor shook the keychain in her hand and smiled kindly at Lu Wenfei. “I took him upstairs first to wait for you to come back.”

The dormitory supervisor had already learned about Lu Wenfei’s health condition during freshman registration and had been quite attentive to the girl.

The girl’s brother would visit her at school every now and then. He was very polite and gradually became familiar with the building’s management staff.

Hearing that Lu Dangui had come to see her sister again, she didn’t let him wait downstairs, but led him inside directly.

Hearing what the dormitory supervisor said, Lu Wenfei’s heart skipped a beat.

The school specially arranged for her dormitory to be on the first floor, so she wouldn’t have to climb stairs. Even from a distance, she could see that her dormitory door was half open.

The faint sound of tearing tape could be heard coming from inside the dormitory, as if someone was taking things apart.

Sitting in her wheelchair, Lu Wenfei slowly rolled to the dormitory entrance, already completely terrified.

She swallowed hard and spoke weakly to the person in the dormitory: “Um… Brother, what brings you here?”

A handsome man wearing a pure white T-shirt stood in the dormitory, holding a sharp pair of scissors in his hand.

At his feet were piles of newly opened express delivery boxes.

Taking out a stack of stunning photos of a man with a beauty mark under his eye from the package, Lu Dangui stared at his younger sister with a very deep gaze.

He slowly narrowed his eyes and spoke, word by word:

“Lu, Wen, Fei.”

The author has something to say:

Mini-drama:

Wenfei: (With tears in her eyes) It’s so good that there are still people who love Cheng Cheng even after he has retired!

Xing Cheng: No, your brother doesn’t love me, your brother wants to kill me.

Regarding the update schedule, I recently started a new job and am still adjusting. I will try my best to update daily, and if I don’t update, I will give you a leave notice in advance!
