Three months later.

Luo Mi sat on the railing atop the White Tower in the holy city of Bethlehem, quietly watching the sun slowly set in the west.

The orange-red sun had sunk halfway underground, and the crimson sunset, like the sun’s flowing blood, spread across the sky, giving one the illusion that the sun would never rise again tomorrow.

Luo Mi swung his legs, his equally orange-red eyes gazing at the earth.

Holy light and hymns still permeated the holy city of Bethlehem. This was the effect of the divine magic circle engraved on the walls of Bethlehem, which could be triggered naturally even without its manipulator, allowing this chalk city to be bathed in praise and glory of God from beginning to end.

Apart from these holy lights, only the Basilica of St. Paul and the Abbey of St. Peter had a few lights; otherwise, the entire holy city was silent.

Looking out over the different countries and towns beyond the holy city, all that could be seen was a lifeless landscape, with only a handful of lights remaining, appearing lonely and pitiful on the gloomy earth.

Luo Mi let out a soft breath.

More than 90% of the people in this world had already entered the Ark, entered the real dream world.

Their souls slumbered within the Ark, while their consciousness lived a life identical to reality within the Real Dream— under the guidance of Lord Zixiang and the other Nightmares, and through the Ark’s computational processing, the Real Dream had expanded to the size of the entire Light Domain and part of the Demon Domain, with its world almost indistinguishable from the real world.

As a seraph, Luo Mi could directly enter the real dream world, but he spent most of his time in reality.

Although reality had become a silent, deep sea.

Luo Mi heard footsteps behind him.

He didn’t turn around, but heard Anos’s gentle voice say, “You seem to really enjoy sitting here lately.”

Feeling the sudden warmth around him, Luo Mi couldn’t help but relax his brows and eyes, still gazing at the setting sun: “This place gives me a lot of philosophical thoughts.”

“What kind of thoughts?”

“For example, who am I, where did I come from, and where am I going…”

Anos didn’t understand the joke and looked at Luo Mi in confusion.

Luo Mi puffed out his cheeks and asked, “Is everything resolved?”

“Yes.” Anos nodded. “They will be asleep until dawn. The protective magic array has also been set up.”

Since there weren’t many people left, Luo Mi specifically asked God’s Heart and learned that the Ark would retrieve all the remaining humans within a day. So Luo Mi simply put them to sleep to avoid any accidents.

He originally intended to handle it himself, but Anos took over the task.

Although Anos had lost his divine power, Luo Mi could use chalk infused with holy light to create divine magical artifacts that allowed Anos to move quickly to different locations.

Seeing that Anos looked tired, Luo Mi massaged his shoulders and said, “You’ve worked hard.”

Anos smiled and said, “The main challenge is preventing his consciousness from invading.”

Luo Mi chuckled to himself.

He had been making out with Anos in St. Paul’s Cathedral when he noticed that Anos’s eyes had turned bright red, and his style had changed from the saintly combination of recklessness and gentleness to a demonic style that was flashy and exciting— it turned out that the God’s Heart had taught the demon Anos how to possess him.

Afterwards, the Holy Son made a special trip to a small town on the edge of the Demon Realm to ask the God’s Heart for advice on “how to prevent being possessed”.

Luo Mi’s assessment of this was: The God’s Heart is like a cunning merchant who profits from both sides.

However, as more and more souls were recovered from the Ark, the God’s Heart and the demon Anos focused all their energy on the virtual world, while Luo Mi and Anos remained in the real world to finish up and keep watch.

Thinking of this, Luo Mi’s expression turned serious: “Is God really still asleep in Ionia?”

After becoming a Seraph, Luo Mi’s sensory abilities became much stronger. When he approached the old holy city of Ionia, he could indeed feel a terrifying sense of crisis, which gave him nightmares for several nights.

Although the scenes in the dream were mixed, the theme was that some accident or betrayal by the God’s Wisdom caused God to realize their plan and awaken prematurely. The ark was destroyed by the God, and Anos and the entire world were reabsorbed by the God…

Luo Mi knew that those were his hidden worries.

But now the Ark Project was coming to an end, and God was still sleeping peacefully there. While Luo Mi felt that everything was going smoothly, he couldn’t help but feel anxious: Will it really go this smoothly?

Would a powerful transmigrator capable of eroding the entire world really allow these “weak” humans to escape his control?

Whose side was the God’s Wisdom on? If it was on their side, why hasn’t it come out and explained things to them?

Besides……

Luo Mi’s gaze fell on Anos’s handsome face, and he paused for a moment.

Anos noticed his worry and gently took his hand: “We’ve done what we could. If we don’t succeed, we’ll have no regrets as long as we’ve tried our best.”

Luo Mi pursed his lips, muttering as if trying to distract himself, “What do you think this transmigrator senior is trying to do? Does he have a grudge against this world?”

Anos shook his head: “It’s hard for hatred to make someone want to destroy the whole world unless they’ve become disillusioned or even desperate about everything in the world.”

“I also think that not everyone can develop a newspaper mentality[1]…” Luo Mi glanced at Anos and added the remaining half of the sentence in her mind: And Anos is obviously not that kind of person.

He turned around, jumped down from the fence, leaned against Anos, and asked in a casual manner, “If you were a god, how would you prevent us from ruining your plans?”

Anos stared at him for a moment before saying seriously, “No need to be on guard.”

“Ah?”

“If I were the god, the difference in power would be enough to cover up all plans,” Anos said solemnly. “Unless there is some special significance, I could simply wake up from my slumber and end all the trouble.”

“That’s what I thought too, but the reality is that God has indeed been asleep all along…” Luo Mi rubbed his hair. “Could God really be that stupid?”

Luo Mi, who was immersed in various literary works and anime novels, firmly believed in the idea that if you think your enemy is too stupid, you will often find that the stupidest one is actually yourself.

Anos patted his head: “Actually, you might as well think about it from another perspective. That is, why do we do this?”

Luo Mi was stunned for a moment: “What?”

“God’s power far surpasses ours. Perhaps he allowed us to prepare the Ark Project because we were too weak to be noticed, but what about God’s wisdom? Just as you said, that angel’s understanding of God far surpasses ours. If we had no chance of winning, he could not have planned for us to this extent.”

Luo Mi paused for a moment, then carefully recalled everything and realized that all the big and small things they had experienced had, to varying degrees, the guidance of God’s Wisdom.

Even the initial Ark Project and the betrayal of the God’s Heart were all the result of communication between the God’s Heart and the God’s Wisdom.

The God’s Wisdom was most likely the system of the original transmigrator. Regardless of why the system intended to betray its host, the arrangements made based on its understanding of the host were likely to be useful.

With this in mind, Luo Mi gained more confidence.

—But, system…

Luo Mi thought of his system, which had been missing for a long time, and the little things he had spent with it, and felt a little melancholy for no reason.

He had many questions he wanted to ask the system, but he was also afraid that the answers the system would give him would shatter his long-held beliefs and cause his worldview to collapse.

Although he already had vague answers to many questions.

Thinking of this, Luo Mi sighed softly, rested his head on Anos’s shoulder, and muttered, “This calm before the storm is unbearable.”

Anos smiled and patted his hair: “I think it’s not bad either, at least I still have time to spend with you.”

If everything ended and they survived, perhaps the person in his arms would return to where he came from. Anos had long been prepared to part ways with Luo Mi, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t feel reluctant.

He believed that his other selves thought the same way.

Because of their chaotic fusion, the three of them developed a strange psychological connection with each other. Anos could often sense the thoughts of his two selves, but sometimes he couldn’t distinguish whether those thoughts originated from himself or the other two.

Especially regarding Luo Mi’s matter.

Despite the increased connections, Anos did not feel that they could reunite.

—Because they seemed to be missing “something”.

Even when their three souls were pieced together, they remained incomplete, like a magic wand missing a piece— it simply couldn’t be reassembled. The God’s Heart had once intended to replace the missing part with a program from within the Ark, allowing them to fully merge, but that program had also been deleted.

They already had a guess in their hearts about what was missing.

Anos held Luo Mi in his arms, quietly gazing at the horizon.

The sun had completely sunk below the horizon, leaving only the blood-red afterglow in the gradually darkening sky, which grew deep and obscure.

Even the few remaining lights in the glorious holy city of Bethlehem had gone out.

On the distant land, the few remaining people gradually disappeared.

Even in the more distant Demon Realm, there were no longer any demons left.

The whole world fell into silence, with only the occasional bird taking flight, the deer tentatively venturing into the town, and the ever-silent but thriving plants proving that life still existed.

Anos and Luo Mi embraced each other at the top of the White Tower, quietly waiting for the sun to rise again the next day, waiting for the day of judgment to arrive.

However, the sun never rose again.

That sun, composed of holy light and holy fire condensed to the extreme, completely disappeared after it set in the west that day, and the world was completely immersed in boundless darkness.

In this darkness, all the birds, beasts, and insects fell.

They did not die, but were as if trapped in the deepest dream.

The holy light of Bethlehem, the eternally sacred city of chalk, slowly faded away.

The whole world was reduced to a single point of light.

Luo Mi turned his head and looked at Anos beside him.

Anos looked at him as well, his eyes one azure and the other crimson, and his once pure gold short hair had turned into long, smooth silver hair.

Anos parted his lips slightly and whispered, “You are glowing.”

Luo Mi looked at his palm— now only he was emitting a soft but warm orange light.

He moved his lips, about to say something, when he suddenly turned his head to look in the direction of the old holy city of Ionia.

A blazing white light exploded from behind the Wall of Sighs, shooting straight into the sky!
