The big guy jumped into the water, and the pool once again erupted in a turbulent spray.

It was obvious the newcomer was hostile, but Yan Han was best at dealing with this kind of situation.

Having lived a peaceful life for so long, he even found himself somewhat looking forward to this kind of provocation.

He swam back half a step first, smiling as he asked, “What are we competing in? Why should we compete with you?”

Up close, he looked more like a red spider lily blooming on the other side of the river.

Xie Chong didn’t know why, but the moment he saw this senior turn around, he had this thought.

His gaze couldn’t help but linger on the other’s beautifully shaped lips, which appeared excessively red due to his pale face. Xie Chong felt his throat go dry, and he was even slightly speechless!

At this moment, Lin Jianlu, who had also turned around, pulled Yan Han behind him.

His face was expressionless, so calm that it was impossible to see any change in his expression.

He exuded a tranquil aura, as if the surrounding noise would suddenly disappear as soon as one entered his vicinity…

This senior wasn’t as… alluring and charming as the previous one; he had a very handsome, upright appearance, but unfortunately, he looked too cold.

He didn’t know if it was because the water was still very cold, or because he hadn’t acclimatized before, but now, meeting the senior’s emotionless eyes, Xie Chong actually felt a chill run down his spine!

“Nothing.” Xie Chong, however, wasn’t one to be naive. He forced himself to remain calm and said casually, “I just saw you guys were swimming really well and wanted to play around with you guys a bit.”

“Play around? Sure.” The provocation was so strong that Yan Han was getting excited and ready to accept, when Lin Jianlu said, “I’ll go.”

“I’ll play with him.”

Yan Han: “…”

Lin Jianlu wasn’t usually this competitive. If someone challenged him, his reaction would be— no reaction at all.

But now he suddenly wanted to “play with him”… Yan Han was shocked. Was it because he was wearing a swimsuit and half his upper body was bare?

…But he was already underwater!

Everyone was underwater; how could anyone see anyone else! Besides, who had time to watch others during a competition? And besides, not everyone was gay…

Amidst Yan Han’s shocked and speechless expression, Lin Jianlu said to him, “Are you going to wait here, or go ashore and be a referee?”

“I’ll go up then.” The view from inside the pool was poor; he couldn’t see anything.

“Okay, put on the blanket.”

“…”

After getting ashore, Yan Han obediently put on the blanket Lin Jianlu had given him earlier. To be honest, after getting used to the water, it was still a bit chilly ashore, and Lin Jianlu’s blanket was just right.

Wiping the water from his hair to let the droplets drip off quickly, Yan Han asked from the crowd, “Ready?”

“Yes.” The two below nodded. Lin Jianlu then asked Xie Chong, “Do you want to warm up first?”

Xie Chong’s hair wasn’t wet before he jumped in, clearly indicating he hadn’t been in the water before. Lin Jianlu was worried that Xie Chong might not be used to it and something might happen. His question was a typical senior’s concern for his junior, which was normal for Lin Jianlu.

He was always very considerate.

But this didn’t stop the students on the shore from being smitten by this considerate senior.

Even Yan Han thought Big Brother Lin was incredibly handsome!

However, Xie Chong was momentarily stunned by this concern, then a little bewildered. He stiffened his neck and said, “No need, it’s okay.”

After both of them put on their swimming caps and goggles and were sure they were ready, Yan Han continued, “I’ll count to three, and you’ll start when I say three.”

At his command, two tall figures leaped out of the water.

Because it was a slightly more formal competition, some students had already cleared the course for them, so the competition area was just enough for one full lap.

Speed swimming competitions were all about skill and strength. The one with superior technique reduced resistance, while the one with greater strength sustained the speed throughout the race – these were the keys to victory.

Although the big guy was quite muscular and looked athletic, judging by his height, he was probably a specialist in sports like basketball, and swimming might not be his forte.

Yan Han, who had practiced all winter break but still couldn’t surpass Brother Lin, had already guessed the outcome of this race.

However, this didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the other spectators.

Hearing that Xie Chong was competing against a second-year student, many first-year students who hadn’t previously gathered around came over.

To them, second-year students like Yan Han and Lin Jianlu were legendary figures, distant and mysterious, unattainable, like flowers on a high mountain.

Now, suddenly, they were competing against a first-year student who was more down-to-earth to them – it would be strange not to come and watch the excitement.

The poolside was once again surrounded by onlookers, with various students shouting encouragement, and the area around Yan Han’s position was inevitably the most crowded.

“I bet 100 yuan that Lin Jianlu will win,” Yan Han said.

“Then I’ll bet 100 yuan too.”

“Me too!”

“Me too…”

After a round of betting, everyone nearby was betting on Lin Jianlu to win, just like Yan Han. Then someone asked, confused, “Who’s going to bet on that junior to win? Otherwise, how are we going to collect our money?”

Everyone burst into laughter, mainly because the student’s expression was full of confusion, as if they were really running a betting operation.

Yan Han laughed along, and his laughter made everyone feel more friendly. Everyone got even more excited and, instinctively, they all wanted to get closer to him.

Unlike the lively atmosphere on the second-year students’ side, because the big guy was already half a body length behind Lin Jianlu, the first-year students were not optimistic that he could swim past the senior.

“So why did Xie Chong humiliate himself? Did he think he could swim just because he’s good at basketball? Didn’t he see what kind of physique that senior had before trying to compete?”

“It is just a casual competition, if he loses, he loses.”

“The main problem is that he’s an athlete, competing in swimming with a top student, and he lost… How embarrassing!”

After one lap, Xie Chong, who had indeed lost, was still a little incredulous. Although he hadn’t received professional swimming training, he had been swimming since childhood, even confident he could swim back even if he fell into the sea. He couldn’t believe he’d lost…

He was at a loss, but a loss was a loss. Being outdone by a top student in sports, Xie Chong was truly convinced. It’s true that to become a prominent figure, you have to have some skills… It’s said that the other senior was also excellent in both academics and sports…

So his fame wasn’t undeserved.

It was clear that to have their kind of reputation, being good at academics alone wasn’t enough, nor was being good at sports alone…
