Qi Ying’s appearance forced the brawl to a halt.

The delinquents, who always claimed they “wouldn’t hit girls,” were stunned and stopped, seeing the accidental injury.

Yang Xinyuan arrived just then, unaware of what had happened, assuming it was all Ji Rang’s men, and shouted, “The police are here!”

Hearing this, the students from No. 3 Middle School turned and ran.

Yu Zhuo, disregarding everything else, rushed to Ji Rang to help Qi Ying, “Sister! Sister, where are you hurt? Where does it hurt?”

He was terrified, and after asking for a while, he realized Qi Ying couldn’t hear him, so he frantically pulled out his phone to call 120. The ambulance asked for the location, but it was a narrow alley, and the ambulance couldn’t get in, so Yu Zhuo simply gave them the location of the school gate.

After hanging up, he reached out to pull Qi Ying from Ji Rang’s arms.

But he couldn’t lift her.

Yu Zhuo angrily shouted, “Let go!”

Ji Rang glanced at him, innocently raising his hands.

Only then did Yu Zhuo see that Qi Ying was tightly gripping Ji Rang’s school uniform around his waist.

“What the hell is going on?”

Yu Zhuo patiently typed for her: “Sis, I’ll take you to the hospital.”

Unexpectedly, Qi Ying glanced at her phone screen, then shook her head, her hands still tightly gripping Ji Rang, as if afraid he would disappear.

Girls who liked Ji Rang could line up from the school gate to the other side of the street, and their methods of pursuing him were varied, but this was the first time someone had taken a blow for him like this.

Qu Dazhuang and the others were completely dumbfounded.

Yu Zhuo was furious, and unable to communicate, his mind a mess, he only wanted to get Qi Ying to the hospital quickly. So he simply grabbed her shoulder and pulled her back.

The blow had actually hit her shoulder, and when Yu Zhuo touched the injury, Qi Ying almost cried out in pain.

Ji Rang suddenly shoved Yu Zhuo away.

Yu Zhuo had just cursed “You son of a bit*h” when he saw Ji Rang bend down, pick Qi Ying up horizontally, and stride towards the school gate. He had no choice but to follow.

Qi Ying felt a burning pain in her shoulder, but the faint smell of smoke mingled with the scent of soap on the young man’s collar, and the sound of his heavy heartbeat, instantly pulled her back to the day she first entered the General’s Mansion.

That day, the General had rescued her from the bandits’ den. When they returned to the mansion, he dismounted first and carried her in his arms, just like that, all the way into the mansion.

She could see his strong jawline and his weathered, sharply defined profile when she slightly raised her eyes.

Now, the young man’s skin was much fairer, and he lacked that ruthless, decisive air. Even his features, so deeply etched into her flesh, appeared slightly immature.

Yet, she could feel a familiar presence.

It was her General.

Ji Rang noticed the gaze in his arms and looked down.

The girl in his arms was still tightly clutching his clothes, her head slightly tilted back, staring intently at him. Seeing him look down, a sweet smile suddenly curved her lips, but her eyes were wet, and she called out “General” again.

Ji Rang only saw her lips moving but didn’t hear any sound, completely unaware of what she was saying. He thus asked her, “Can’t you speak?”

The girl in his arms neither nodded nor shook her head, just stared at him with those deadly eyes.

Ji Rang chuckled, “You can’t hear me either, can you?”

His expression darkened as he suddenly remembered the special student that had been the talk of the town that morning.

A martyr’s child, a deaf-mute girl, very beautiful.

He tightened his grip, then suddenly laughed, “This is fu**ing interesting.”

The ambulance quickly arrived at the school gate.

It was rush hour, and the school gate was bustling with people. The ambulance’s arrival thus attracted considerable attention. The security guard rushed over and asked the doctor who jumped out of the ambulance, “What’s going on?”

The doctor said, “It was a student from your school who called the ambulance. Where is she?”

Ji Rang, carrying Qi Ying, approached, “This…”

The security guard gave him a look that said, “What happened again?”

Ji Rang, without batting an eye, carried Qi Ying into the ambulance in full view of everyone. Yu Zhuo climbed in after him, anxiously shouting, “Doctor, please check my sister! Did she hurt her head?”

Otherwise, why would she suddenly fall for that bast**d Ji Rang?

The doctor gave her a quick examination. “No obvious external head injury. We’ll do further tests at the hospital.”

Yu Zhuo glared fiercely at Ji Rang.

Ji Rang lowered his eyes, his smile particularly menacing: “You really think I have a good temper?”

Yu Zhuo looked at Qi Ying, who was sitting obediently next to Ji Rang, still clinging tightly to his clothes, and felt utterly humiliated. Suddenly, his phone rang in his pocket.

He picked it up and saw it was his father calling.

Yu Zhuo was immediately terrified.

Trembling, Yu Zhuo answered the phone. Yu Cheng then asked, “Are you out of school yet? I just got off work and I’m coming to pick you and Ying Ying up.”

Yu Zhuo was truly at a loss for words and tried to decline, “We can take the bus back; it’s not on your way.”

Yu Cheng said, “How can I let Ying Ying squeeze onto the bus? You wait at school for a bit; I’ll be there soon.”

Yu Zhuo was almost in tears, just about to resign himself to his fate, when Qi Ying held up her phone screen to him. It read: Tell Uncle that I went to the bookstore with my new classmates to buy stationery and study guides, and we want to play a little longer.

Yu Zhuo felt like he’d been granted a pardon and quickly relayed the message. Yu Cheng, upon learning that Qi Ying was having a good time with her classmates, finally let it go.

After hanging up, Yu Zhuo glanced at the tired-looking Ji Rang beside him and buried his head in typing a WeChat message to Qi Ying.

—Sister, do you know him?

—Yes.

—/Panic. How did you meet him? Do you know who he is?

—Ji Rang.

“—Sister, let me tell you, don’t be fooled by his appearance. He’s no good.”

“—No, he’s a good person, I know that.”

Yu Zhuo rolled his eyes in anger, almost swearing.

“What do you know? Is this Class Two cursed? It’s only the first day of school, and they’ve already brainwashed my well-behaved and quiet sister?”

That bast**d Ji Rang really had gone all out; his lower abdomen still hurt. He’ll have to get a doctor to check him out later.

The ambulance drove all the way to the hospital. Ji Rang didn’t say a word the entire time. After Qi Ying finished seeing the doctor, he took the treatment slip to settle the medical bills, then threw it all at Yu Zhuo when he came back and turned to leave.

Qi Ying had just entered the treatment room when she saw him about to leave. She ran out and grabbed the sleeve of his school uniform draped over his shoulder.

Ji Rang didn’t turn around, only glancing sideways at Yu Zhuo beside him, seemingly threatening someone: “I don’t have that much patience.”

Yu Zhuo quickly tried to pry Qi Ying’s hand away.

She didn’t really want to let go, but seeing Ji Rang’s expression, she knew he hadn’t said anything nice; her eyes were still red, but her fingers loosened.

Ji Rang shrugged, dusted off his clothes, and walked towards the elevator.

After a couple of steps, he inexplicably turned back.

Qi Ying was still standing there, watching his back expectantly. Seeing him turn around, a smile immediately appeared on her face.

That smile carried a cautious, ingratiating tone.

Ji Rang felt a surge of inexplicable irritation, so he cursed, and quickened his pace.

Just as he left the hospital, Qu Dazhuang called, asking, “Brother Rang, how’s the girl who took the blow for you?”

Ji Rang pulled out a cigarette from his pocket and lit it. “She’s fine.”

Qu Dazhuang sighed, “Awesome, Brother Rang! Another glorious chapter in your history— a girl took the blow for you.”

Ji Rang laughed, “Get lost.”

Qu Dazhuang continued, “Brother Rang, what about those kids from No. 3 Middle School?”

Ji Rang tilted his head, held the phone between his fingers, took out a lighter, lit a cigarette, and stared as the smoke drifted in the wind. While the security guard next to him yelled, “Hey, smoking isn’t allowed in the hospital!”

Ji Rang glanced up at him; he was just a boy in a school uniform, but his eyes inexplicably sent chills down one’s spine.

The security guard instinctively took a step back.

Ji Rang just smiled, quickened his pace, and walked out the door, speaking calmly into the phone, “What to do? Kill them all.”
