“Host, congratulations again on successfully completing Mission Three: [Repel the Demonic Sect].” The system’s voice was muffled, as if coming from a great distance: “Now, the original plot of this world is open to you.”

Li Yuebai subconsciously frowned; this action seemingly exhausting all his strength.

His head was spinning, his eyelids were heavy, his chest was burning, and there was a metallic taste in his throat; he must have just vomited blood.

His body felt like it was floating in an endless sea of stars, devoid of any sense of reality.

“Host, please rest assured, you are being well taken care of now. There is no need to worry about dying; you just need to recuperate, and you will recover,” the system comforted him.

Li Yuebai tried to open his eyes or move his arm, but failed.

“You don’t need to speak; just rest well. If you want to say something to me, you can communicate using your consciousness language, just like before,” the system said.

“How is Kunlun? How is Yu Tianji?” Li Yuebai tried to sort out his chaotic thoughts and asked.

“Kunlun suffered some casualties, but the number was much less than expected, so it can be said to be a great victory,” the system said. “As for Yu Tianji… you are currently resting your head on his lap… on the bed in the Auspicious Palace.”

“…” As expected, Li Yuebai had already habitually ignored Yu Tianji’s overly intimate behavior and asked, “Will the Demonic Sect invade again?”

“Not in recent years. This time, the Demonic Sect was severely weakened, so of course they won’t provoke Kunlun again,” the system said.

Great.

Li Yuebai breathed a sigh of relief, his mind gradually clearing.

However, in this clear-headed state, he suddenly remembered something important.

The system had said before, “You must save Kunlun first, and then I will tell you how to save yourself.”

Just now, the system said again, “The entire plot of this world has been opened to you.”

Indeed, before defeating the Demonic Sect, the system hadn’t told him much, but now that it was all open, he had to understand it properly.

“System,” Li Yuebai said, “Is the next part of the plot related to my self-rescue?”

“Yes, the next part is about the cause of the original owner’s death,” the system replied.

“Please tell me everything.”

“Yes, host.” The system replied, “Considering your physical condition, I will introduce the following original plot to you through a live demonstration.”

“Okay.” His head was still very dizzy. Listening to the system’s long explanation or typing out a paragraph would be tiring. A live demonstration was thus the most intuitive.

“Please select your perspective, first-person or third-person?” the system asked.

“Third-person.”

“Okay, please wait.” The system slowly began to run.

After an unknown amount of time, the darkness in front of him disappeared, replaced by a vast real-world scene— Kunlun Immortal Mountain.

Li Yuebai found himself floating in mid-air, able to drift freely and observe everything around him. However, when he looked at himself, he only saw a transparent expanse. He was like a ghost here, without a body, unable to affect anything around him, merely a pure observer.

“Host, the time you are seeing now is twenty days after the defeat of the Demonic Sect. Kunlun is currently recuperating,” the system said. “By the way, the original owner, like you, suffered severe injuries during the command process, but his life is not in danger.”

“Understood,” Li Yuebai replied.

He checked his location; it was closest to the Auspicious Hall, so he went there first.

Inside the Auspicious Hall, he indeed saw the main figures— Yu Tianji sat on the Immortal Lord’s throne, and Mu Qingning stood in the center.

Mu Qingning was still very weak, but his expression was very composed. He pleaded with Yu Tianji, “…Please allow me to resign from my position as the High Priest.”

“Absolutely not!” Yu Tianji immediately sat up and stepped down from the platform in a panic. “Immortal Master Mu, Kunlun cannot do without you for even a day…”

“The Immortal Lord is benevolent and will surely govern Kunlun well; there is no need for my assistance,” Mu Qingning said.

“Without your assistance, I, the Immortal Lord, am nothing but a paper tiger.” Yu Tianji’s face showed anxiety and fear. He knew very well that his foundation was unstable and his abilities insufficient; he was simply incapable of shouldering the responsibility alone. Just as the stalemate was at hand, several cultivators hurriedly entered the hall and bowed, saying, “Immortal Lord, Lord Tianliu has returned!”

The atmosphere in the hall immediately became tense.

Yu Tianji immediately asked, “Where is my brother…?”

“Outside the mountain gate,” the cultivator replied. “As per the instructions of the High Priest, no one is allowed to enter. Therefore, Lord Tianliu has only led his men to camp outside the mountain gate. Now we would like to ask the Immortal Lord how to welcome Lord Tianliu back to the mountain?”

Another cultivator presented a letter, saying, “Lord Tianliu sent someone to deliver a letter using magic.”

Yu Tianji took the letter and unfolded it.

Li Yuebai stepped forward to examine the letter. The letter was written with great sincerity, roughly meaning: “As the eldest brother, I fought bravely for Kunlun, rendering great service. Unexpectedly, the situation changed drastically, and I only learned of the Demonic Sect’s siege of Kunlun very late. I was immediately consumed by grief and rushed back at the cost of my life, but it was too late. By the time I arrived, the Demonic Sect had already been defeated… The letter repeatedly questioned Yu Tianji about why he hadn’t sent anyone to request aid, causing me to miss the fight against the Demonic Sect. I feel deeply guilty and now only wish for brotherhood reunion and the rebuilding of Kunlun.”

Li Yuebai couldn’t help but secretly despise Yu Tianliu’s shamelessness and treachery.

The system had already stated that Yu Tianliu had received Kunlun’s plea for help long ago, but he killed the messenger, pretended to be unaware, and remained inactive, preserving his strength. Now, seeing that Kunlun had won, he rushed back to try and reclaim the Immortal Lord’s position.

Unfortunately, while Li Yuebai knew Yu Tianliu’s true nature, Mu Qingning might not.

The Demonic Cult had surrounded the entire Kunlun Mountains, making it extremely difficult to send out a distress message. The messenger was likely to be intercepted and killed by the Demonic Cult on the way. Therefore, even with Mu Qingning’s extraordinary talent, he wouldn’t have known that Yu Tianliu had received the distress call and killed the messenger. Li Yuebai could only hope that Mu Qingning could see through Yu Tianliu’s intentions and, even if unaware of his cruelty and despicable nature, could still refuse him entry.

“Brother is back.” Yu Tianji looked somewhat flustered, pleadingly at Mu Qingning: “Master, what do you think we should do?”

Mu Qingning sighed, remaining silent for a long time before saying, “Immortal Lord, I’m afraid I cannot resign from my position as High Priest anytime soon.”

“That’s wonderful.” Yu Tianji said happily.

Yu Tianji could handle ordinary affairs, but now that Yu Tianliu had returned, the situation had drastically changed, and Yu Tianji would certainly be unable to cope with the complex circumstances. Therefore, Mu Qingning had no choice but to continue serving as High Priest.

Yu Tianliu, being the eldest son of the old Immortal Lord, was the most deserving person to inherit the position. Now, seeing his younger brother occupy the Immortal Lord’s position, he was bound to be furious.

After dismissing the other cultivators, Yu Tianji and Mu Qingning began to discuss the matter in the hall.
