The last rays of the setting sun disappeared, and the sky grew completely dark.

Duan Yihua then asked, “What are we having for dinner tonight?”

“Should we wait for Xingchen and the other person to come back?” Wen Nuo asked.

“They probably won’t be back so soon, will they?” Duan Yihua said.

They finally got a chance to go out on a date, even they would have to eat dinner before coming back.

“Let’s not cook anymore, we didn’t eat well at noon,” Hu Ying said. “Let’s go eat out.”

“Should we tell the production team?” Wen Nuo asked.

In reality dating shows, the guests were usually required to cook for themselves, because sparks could easily fly during the cooking process.

However, it was unlikely that any sparks will fly between these six people.

So Guo Bing readily agreed: “You can decide for yourselves, eat however you like.”

You see?

“So, what should we eat?” Wino asked.

“I want to drink,” Hu Ying said. “Let’s go drink. There’s a small bar around here, and I saw some pretty good reviews online. They have lots of food, both Chinese and Western.”

His proposal was agreed upon by everyone.

Everyone walked towards the bar together, and Yan Zhi raised his hand to check the time.

Pei Xu and Zhai Xingchen should be back soon.

No matter how tough the day was, we made it through, and it’s finally over.

They were walking when a car suddenly drove up behind them, and everyone stopped and looked at the car.

As night fell, the car headlights illuminated all their faces: some eager, like Huo Cheng; some surprised, like Hu Ying; and some pretending not to care, like Lin Qingning.

They only realized it was a crew member from the show when the car drove past them.

Because there were many people filming, everyone looked a little embarrassed after they came to their senses.

Only Wen Nuo honestly said, “I thought it was Xingchen and that other person who came back.”

Duan Yihua patted him on the shoulder.

At this very moment, Pei Xu and his group were descending the mountain.

“Director!” the cameraman exclaimed excitedly from the car, “You’ll never guess what we filmed today!”

“What did you capture?” Guo Bing asked. “What, did you capture a classic scene?”

Actually, if you think about it, watching the sunset together as a couple can easily create a classic scene.

“It might be an even more romantic scene than the ‘Starry Night’ magic trick!” the cameraman exclaimed excitedly.

When filming began, he finally understood why Pei Xu had said it was better to set off fireworks before it got completely dark.

He sat in the car, watching the footage, his excited smile never fading.

The indigo night sky shone with a jewel-like clarity. As dusk settled, the endless snow-capped mountains added to the dreamlike and dazzling spectacle of the fireworks. This was something that wouldn’t happen once the sky was completely dark.

Moreover, it got especially cold on the mountain after dark, so they came down early to avoid getting too cold.

He couldn’t help but admire Pei Xu’s thoughtfulness.

Not only romantic, but also considerate.

But Pei Xu’s thoughts went far beyond that.

He chose to do it when it was almost dark because he couldn’t see the aurora from there, and he felt that the moment the sun set and night fell was the closest he could get to the feeling of seeing the aurora.

Zhai Xingchen had actually guessed what he was thinking.

The lyrics to “Mohe Dance Hall” were there for you to see; they were actually quite easy to come up with.

He truly experienced the charm of Jinjiang male protagonists today.

He was still not completely calmed down; he felt both excited and moved. The date had been well-paced and gradual, starting with delicate roses and culminating in fireworks— how could anyone not be moved?

They didn’t speak again the whole way.

Pei Xu was also very excited.

All of this was arranged just to make Zhai Xingchen happy, but he never expected that doing this with Zhai Xingchen would make him feel so happy as well.

After the car arrived in the county town, Pei Xu asked, “Should we eat something before we go back?”

Zhai Xingchen nodded and said, “Let’s go to the old street. There are still so many things we haven’t eaten yet.”

Because Pei Xu didn’t stop them when they were filming on the mountaintop before, the two cameramen followed them again this time, carrying their cameras.

There were significantly more people in the old street at night than during the day, so they didn’t go any further in and went directly to a restaurant at the entrance of the old street.

The restaurant wasn’t doing well; only two elderly women were sitting inside, and they didn’t recognize them.

They ordered a chicken stew with mushrooms.

Pei Xu took his cup, rinsed it with hot water, wiped the chopsticks with a paper towel, and then handed it to him.

Zhai Xingchen took it and said, “Thank you.”

Pei Xu didn’t speak, but poured him more hot water. Zhai Xingchen gently held the cup with one hand and said, “Thank you.”

Pei Xu chuckled softly.

His smile reminded Zhai Xingchen of when they first met, when Pei Xu was drunk and he took care of him, and Pei Xu kept saying “thank you,” and he even laughed at him.

Before the food was even served, Zhai Xingchen started looking at the photos of the sunset and fireworks on his phone.

Even now, seeing the starry sky still filled him with emotion.

Yes, it’s that surging feeling, like ocean waves, one after another.

Pei Xu held his cup, drinking water while glancing at him. Zhai Xingchen couldn’t help but look up at him, and Pei Xu lowered his eyes.

Zhai Xingchen laughed instead, a gentle smile playing on her lips.

Since they had already eaten a lot in the afternoon, neither of them was very hungry, so they ordered a bowl of rice and each of them ate half. Just after they finished eating, Zhai Xingchen saw three or four young people gathered at the door, probably attracted by the two people filming them.

“It’s Zhai Xingchen and Pei Xu!” he heard a little girl shout excitedly, “They really are in our county!”

Zhai Xingchen looked at Pei Xu: “Shall we go?”

The two of them came out of the store, and the other young people, who were rather timid, quickly moved aside when they saw them. They only dared to secretly take pictures with their phones.

At this moment, Pei Xu took the initiative to wave to them and smiled.

His smile made the girls blush, and Zhai Xingchen only heard their excited screams after they had all walked away.

“Zhai Xingchen is so fair-skinned and beautiful!”

“Pei Xu is even more handsome than he looks on TV! He’s so tall, he must be almost 1.9 meters!”

“Pei Xu isn’t as scary as people say online. He actually waved to us just now! Did you take a picture of that?”

“I took a picture, the two of them are such a good match, sob sob sob.”

“The Rising Sun and Stars are real!”

Zhai Xingchen suddenly heard the words “rising sun and stars” and, upon realizing their meaning, his face flushed. His heart raced slightly as he walked alongside Pei Xu. When they reached the intersection, he glanced at the old street, which was quite deserted and desolate during the day, but was now bustling with people.
