Huo Cheng and Hu Ying invited Duan Yihua along as well. The three of them went to room number one and drank a bottle of wine with Lin Qingning.

They didn’t talk about Zhai Xingchen, nor about Pei Xu, and they didn’t discuss any topics related to relationships.

Love made them adversaries, but it also made them temporary allies for a moment.

After finishing the last bottle of wine and the snacks, they didn’t leave. The four of them sat on the floor and chatted until the early hours of the morning, when everyone started to doze off.

Huo Cheng and Duan Yihua came out of room number one.

They were all slightly tipsy, and the effects of the alcohol made them feel warm all over.

Huo Cheng’s face was flushed with wine, a cigarette dangled from his lips. He stood tall and lean, his back to the camera.

“It’s really getting late,” Duan Yihua said, glancing at his watch.

“Anyway, we have nothing to do tomorrow, so we don’t need to get up early,” Huo Cheng said.

As he spoke, he looked up at the starry sky.

Room 4

Wen Nuo secretly turned over and looked at Yan Zhi opposite him.

Yan Zhi wasn’t sleeping; he was leaning against the bed playing games on his phone.

The light from the phone screen illuminated Yan Zhi’s glasses, and through the reflection, one could vaguely see the fierce battle.

Wen Nuo breathed a slight sigh of relief, thinking to herself, “I wonder what time it is now, it must be almost midnight.”

Even someone as timid and peaceful as him felt agitated and saddened at this moment when he thought of Pei Xu and Zhai Xingchen. Others must feel even worse.

The person he liked was now sleeping in the same bed with a rival, spending time alone together. What would they say and do? During this process, would Zhai Xingchen feel any attraction? Would there be any physical contact?

It was a mess.

Zhai Xingchen got up exceptionally early the next day.

Although he was very sleepy, he set an alarm and woke up just as dawn broke. After waking up, he quickly turned off the alarm, but he still woke Pei Xu up.

Pei Xu opened his sleepy eyes and looked at the time: “So early.”

Zhai Xingchen hummed in agreement and said, “Did I disturb you? Go back to sleep, you don’t need to get up so early.”

But Pei Xu still sat up.

The room was starting to cool down. Zhai Xingchen sat up and got dressed. As soon as he stepped out of bed, his body began to radiate heat, carrying his unique fragrance. And Pei Xu squinted and picked up a sweater to put it on.

Zhai Xingchen glanced at Pei Xu’s lips; thankfully, the symptoms of internal heat hadn’t worsened.

He fell asleep faster last night than the day before because he was too tired and the bed was too warm. He couldn’t stay awake any longer and fell asleep quickly.

But the feeling of the two of them wearing clothes together was really strange. Their four long legs filled the entire kang (a heated brick bed). He was wearing thermal underwear, while Pei Xu was only wearing loose shorts, revealing his long and well-proportioned legs. He noticed that Pei Xu’s calves had a really nice shape, lean and smooth, while his thighs were thick and strong. This person’s physique was really much more solid than he had thought. He looked thin and tall, but he was actually very strong.

“You don’t need to get up so early,” he said again to Pei Xu.

“Weren’t you going to cook?” Pei Xu said. “I’ll help you.”

Pei Xu’s directness actually made Zhai Xingchen less embarrassed. He turned to look at Pei Xu, who then smiled at him.

Pei Xu still looked tired and weary, but his smile was exceptionally quiet and gentle, giving off a very homely and intimate feeling.

The environment really could influence a person. Living in such a dilapidated house and simple environment made it easy to develop feelings, especially since Pei Xu was not the kind of person who was particularly refined. Wearing a woollen hat and a thick sweater, he immediately brought out the feeling of home life.

Zhai Xingchen went to the restroom, and by the time he came back, Pei Xu had already squeezed out all the toothpaste for him.

The two stood in the yard brushing their teeth. While Pei Xu looked at the sky outside and said, “The weather is really nice today.”

The eastern sky had already begun to take on color, a pale yellow.

“There seems to be someone over there at the snowmen’s place,” Zhai Xingchen said, straightening up.

Upon hearing this, Pei Xu looked towards the snowmen and saw someone squatting in front of them.

Pei Xu stared at the man for a while, then rinsed his mouth; the water in the cup had already gone cold.

“It looks like Brother Huo,” Zhai Xingchen said.

It was indeed Huo Cheng. He also saw that the door to room number three was open and that Pei Xu and Zhai Xingchen were in the courtyard.

So he immediately stood up.

Huo Cheng was chilled to the bone, his nose and ears were red from the cold. He rubbed his hands together and looked at Zhai Xingchen and Pei Xu in the courtyard from afar.

He got up very early because he couldn’t sleep, but he got up too early and it was still dark. Such that when he got to room number three, he found that Pei Xu and Zhai Xingchen’s room was completely dark, so they were probably still sleeping.

He waited outside alone for a long time.

The sun rose, and golden sunlight streamed in. He walked toward room number three and called out, “Good morning.”

Zhai Xingchen asked, “You got up so early.”

“I just got up too, what a coincidence.” Huo Cheng said with a smile, glancing at Pei Xu beside him.

Pei Xu said, “Let’s go inside, it’s warmer inside.”

Huo Cheng entered the room and changed the coal briquettes for them. Zhai Xingchen glanced at Huo Cheng and, seeing his frosty appearance, asked, “Why are you up so early today?”

He got up so early on his own because he wanted to be up before Huo Cheng and the others.

Huo Cheng was about to speak when he heard Hu Ying’s voice from the yard, “Why did your snowman’s nose fall off?”

Huo Cheng was stunned for a moment, and then Hu Ying came in wearing a hat and gloves, looking rather plump.

“Its nose fell off?” Pei Xu asked.

Huo Cheng looked puzzled and said, “When I first arrived, its nose looked perfectly fine.”

“One really fell off,” Hu Ying said. “I wanted to put it back, but the snow is frozen solid now, and I can’t stick it in. The radish was thus broken in two after becoming crunchy.”

Huo Cheng felt embarrassed and put his hand next to the stove to warm it.

While he was waiting, he felt cold, his feet and ears ached, and he felt incredibly desolate. He couldn’t stand the two snowmen, and in a fit of anger, he poked off one of their noses. Afterward, he put it back on. Hu Ying was right; it was probably too cold and the snowmen were frozen solid, making them difficult to put back on, but when he did, the radish was still whole! And he really did put it back on.

Was it because he didn’t install it securely enough, and it fell down again?

But Pei Xu changed the subject and asked Hu Ying, “Why are you up so early too?”

Hu Ying said, “Everyone must have gotten up pretty early today, right? I see Duan Ge is up too.”

Why did people get up so early? Wasn’t the reason obvious?!

Everyone knew the truth; there was no need to spell it out and make things awkward.

When he saw that Zhai Xingchen was going to wear the down jacket Pei Xu had given him, he said, “Didn’t Director Guo tell us yesterday to try to wear the brand we’re filming with?”

“I almost forgot.” Zhai Xingchen said, putting down the down jacket in his hand and picking up the down jacket that the production team had prepared for him and putting it on.

Pei Xu was already making the bed. Hu Ying glanced at the bed and paused for a moment.

They actually slept at the same end of the bed.

Sleeping on the same bed was normal, but sleeping at the same end was abnormal. The problem was, when Pei Xu slept with him, they always slept at opposite ends of the bed.

Hu Ying glanced at Pei Xu, sneered, and his fighting spirit suddenly surged forth.

“I wonder if Yan Zhi and Wen Nuo are up yet,” he said.

Huo Cheng asked, “Is Qingning up yet?”

“No, he drank a bit too much yesterday and got a little drunk,” Hu Ying said.

Upon hearing this, Zhai Xingchen immediately asked, “Did you go drinking?”

“We had a small get-together yesterday. We originally wanted to invite you two, but we didn’t because Pei Xu doesn’t drink,” Hu Ying said slowly. “None of us drank too much, but Brother Lin was probably in a bad mood and drank a bit too much.”

The reason why Lin Qingning was in a bad mood was self-evident.

This was Pei Xu’s biggest weakness so far!

Sure enough, Hu Ying noticed that Zhai Xingchen’s expression became a little unnatural.

Very well, he had successfully sown discord.

Hu Ying said, “Are you all packed? Let’s go. It’s too cold here.”

Huo Cheng asked Pei Xu, “Aren’t you leaving?”

Pei Xu said, “I’ll pack my bag, you guys go ahead.”

When they got to the snowmen, Zhai Xingchen noticed that one of the snowmen’s nose was really only half there. The remaining half was by the roadside, and there were several cigarette butts in the snow.

He was stunned for a moment, not expecting Huo Cheng to have stayed here for so long.

He turned to look at Huo Cheng. Huo Cheng was still not wearing a hat, his ears were red from the cold, and his handsome face was flushed. His cheeks looked even rougher than when he was in Nancheng. It was probably too cold, which had chilled the usually enthusiastic Huo Cheng. He seemed to have become much more silent, looked somewhat haggard, and had dark circles under his eyes.

He pursed his lips.

He discovered that if he took these people’s feelings seriously, he wouldn’t feel awkward at all; on the contrary, he would be very touched, though he would feel uneasy, wondering what he had done to deserve them.

“Why isn’t Brother Huo wearing a hat?” he asked.

Huo Cheng turned his head and glanced at him.

“I don’t wear a hat,” Huo Cheng said.

“I have an extra one,” Hu Ying said. “I’ll give you one when we get to room number one.”

“I don’t want anything too flashy,” Huo Cheng said.

When they arrived at room number one, they found that Duan Yihua was already preparing breakfast.

A dozen minutes later, Lin Qingning and Wen Nuo also arrived. By the time breakfast was ready, Pei Xu also arrived, but Yan Zhi was still nowhere to be seen.

“He played video games until dawn, and he was just falling asleep when I arrived,” Wen Nuo said.

In truth, Yan Zhi had always appeared gentle and gentlemanly. Although he was known for his ruthless gaming style, Wen Nuo had never seen that side of Yan Zhi in real life. So, when he opened his eyes and found Yan Zhi still playing games, he was quite surprised. He thus sat up and asked, “You didn’t sleep all night?”

Yan Zhi grunted in response. He wasn’t wearing his glasses, and his eyes were bloodshot.

Zhai Xingchen felt that everyone probably hadn’t slept well, or maybe it was because they had been drinking last night. Lin Qingning’s face was a little swollen, Hu Ying managed to look dignified with his makeup, Huo Cheng had dark circles under his eyes, and Duan Yihua looked very tired.

Only Wen Nuo was somewhat better off.

It was not easy to immediately adapt to and get used to everyone liking him; several complex emotions were constantly alternating within him.

After they finished eating, the production crew brought them a car.

Pei Xu glanced at his watch and said, “Xingchen, let’s go.”

The people at the table looked at the two of them with subtle expressions.

Pei Xu didn’t look at his rivals’ eyes; at this moment, it was important to keep a low profile.

Zhai Xingchen comforted himself, saying that this was a necessary process and something that could be expected.

He then wiped his mouth and stood up.

Around 9:30, he got into Pei Xu’s car.

Under the watchful eyes of Hu Ying, Huo Cheng, Duan Yihua, Lin Qingning, and Wen Nuo.

“Wow, wow, wow, wow, this shot!” Guo Bing exclaimed excitedly.

It looked normal, and no one seemed to have any intense expressions, but this was a classic chaotic scene!

Watching the car slowly drive out of Little Arctic, Hu Ying said, “I really envy Pei Xu.”

Yes, I really envy him.

“Luckily, there’s still another chance,” he said to the others. “Next time, we absolutely cannot let him win, right? We all agree! We need to unite and stand together against him!”

Indeed, we can’t let Pei Xu keep winning. Even if he doesn’t win next time, it’s better to let someone else win. Whoever it is is better than Pei Xu!

Pei Xu sneezed.

Zhai Xingchen leaned back in his seat. He had gotten through the most embarrassing part of the day, and now he could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Facing one was always better than facing a group.

“This is my first date ever,” Pei Xu suddenly said.

Zhai Xingchen was stunned for a moment.

He felt that the word “first time” was too ambiguous and particularly easy to touch people’s hearts.

He said “Oh,” and then asked, “And then?”

He thought there was a second half to the sentence, such as, “Please forgive me if the arrangements are not good.”

Pei Xu simply gripped the steering wheel with his long, slender fingers, his expression indifferent, but his ears were slightly red, as he said, “That’s all. I just wanted you to know.”
