On the Taihou Platform, the crowd remained solemnly standing, showing no intention of leaving.

The old Immortal Lord’s funeral had ended, but someone still needed to personally carry the memorial tablet to the ancestral hall for placement.

In the past, this task was always done by the Immortal Lord’s heir.

However, now, the Immortal Lord’s eldest son, Yu Tianliu, was away on campaign and would not be able to return for some time.

“Master, the one who can escort the memorial tablet is probably only you…” Su Xu bent down and whispered to Li Yuebai, who was sitting on a stone chair.

Li Yuebai considered it for a moment, felt it was inappropriate, and politely declined.

“System, did Immortal Lord Yu Pengze have any other children?” Li Yuebai asked.

“There is one, but…” The system became hesitant.

“But?”

Before the system could answer, a commotion arose on the Taihou Platform.

The cultivators, who had been standing still, suddenly looked up, pointing and gesturing at the sky. Not content with just pointing, they began whispering and discussing amongst themselves, shaking their heads and sighing after a while.

What incredible thing had they seen?

Li Yuebai also looked up, following their gaze, and saw a figure in the sky— someone flying on a sword.

This was the world of cultivation; flying on a sword wasn’t unusual, but the figure itself was.

He wore brightly colored robes, completely different from the simply dressed cultivators, and his flight path was erratic, as if he were about to fall from the sky. From a distance, he appeared to be holding a wine bottle, drinking wine and seemingly singing off-key.

Even more terrifying was that the flying sword carried not only him, but also two alluring women. The women, perhaps sensing the danger, occasionally let out delicate screams, but he paid them no heed, embracing one on each side and occasionally kissing them on the cheek.

This… how was this any different from modern-day street racers? Li Yuebai couldn’t help but rub his forehead.

“System, who is this?”

“This is the one I just mentioned, the second son of the Immortal Lord, Yu Tianji,” the system replied helplessly.

Yu Tianliu was the Immortal Lord’s eldest son, heir, of noble birth and universally praised. Yu Tianji, on the other hand, was quite the opposite. His birth mother was an unknown woman who had long since passed away. He was of lowly status, possessed extremely poor talent, and was slightly disabled— his left leg was lame from birth. Therefore, the Immortal Lord named him Tianji, where Ji meant an imperfect pearl, a metaphor for things that were flawed yet beautiful, intended to encourage him to overcome his shortcomings and strive for cultivation.

Unexpectedly, Yu Tianji was truly a complete waste. Not only was he incompetent in everything, but his morals were also appalling. Not only did he not strive to cultivate, but he also behaved improperly from a young age, indulging in debauchery and spending his days drinking, singing, and mingling with women, committing all sorts of absurd acts. The Immortal Lord initially punished him severely, but later gradually stopped caring. Therefore, no one on the entire Kunlun Immortal Mountain respected this second young master. Every time they talked about him, it was as a joke, saying he had utterly disgraced his father and brother.

Now even though the position of Immortal Lord was vacant, Yu Tianji, due to his infamous reputation, was unable to succeed him.

“Host, I must remind you, something has changed in the world,” the system checked and said, “The character Yu Tianji is different from the original.”

“Hmm?”

“The Yu Tianji the original owner encountered was merely incompetent, cowardly, and disabled, unlike the drunken and unrestrained Yu Tianji of today. Although both are wastes, there are still some differences,” the system explained.

“Is this difference important?” Li Yuebai smiled bitterly.

“Important,” the system replied, “because the original owner helped Yu Tianji ascend to the position of Immortal Lord.”

Without an Immortal Lord, Kunlun Immortal Mountain would ultimately be difficult to operate, many orders would be inconvenient to implement, and the efficiency of resisting the invasion of the Demonic Sect would be very low. The original owner, Mu Qingning, considered that Yu Tianji was kind-hearted and would never become a tyrant, therefore, he assisted Yu Tianji in ascending to the position of Immortal Lord.

At first, some people were unconvinced, but later they were gradually moved.

But now…

“Host, I regret to inform you that if you were to assist Yu Tianji, it would be even more difficult than for the original owner,” the system said. “It’s one thing to be incompetent and cowardly, but this Yu Tianji is just too hateful…”

“I will not assist him,” Li Yuebai shook his head helplessly, “It’s better to have no Immortal Lord at all.”

Yu Tianji was clearly incapable of being an Immortal Lord; he might fall from the sky and die at any time.

Just as he thought this, a loud crash was heard.

Yu Tianji, along with the two women, indeed fell from the sky.

The flying sword lost control and crashed to the ground.

The two women seemed to possess decent magical abilities; in the instant of their fall, they both made a hand seal, landing lightly and saving their lives.

Yu Tianji, however, was only half-baked in magic and was too drunk to resist, crashing directly onto the Taihou Platform with a loud thud.

“…” The cultivators were momentarily speechless.

Su Xu sighed.

Li Yuebai felt countless black lines appear on his forehead.

But regardless, they still had to go forward to check on him.

Li Yuebai led the cultivators forward, carefully examining Yu Tianji lying on the ground.

It must be said, despite being useless and annoying, this second young master was quite handsome.

His eyes were slightly upturned, his long eyebrows slanted upwards, and his eyelids had a touch of crimson, perhaps painted with flower petals. A carefree, shameless smile played on his lips; it was clear he was someone who would never reform.

He was dressed in bright red and green, his collar plunging low, revealing his collarbone and chest, even showing his abs. He was slender but muscular, with bright red wine still dripping from his chest. His long, black hair was loose, giving him a somewhat alluring appearance.

He was indeed very drunk; and the fall he had just taken was quite severe. Yu Tianji groaned and rolled on the ground, his eyes tightly closed, muttering something unintelligible, showing no intention of getting up.

“Where is someone? Quickly help the Second Young Master to get medical attention!” Su Xu hurriedly said, “The Second Young Master was overwhelmed with grief and tried to drown his sorrows in alcohol, which led to his fall and injury. He needs proper treatment.”

As expected of Pavilion Master Su, he had used every kind word imaginable. As soon as he finished speaking, Yu Tianji hiccuped, got up from the ground, and opened his eyes.

Li Yuebai keenly caught his gaze, sensing something flash within it.

But it was only for a moment.

The next second, Yu Tianji reverted to his carefree and unrestrained demeanor, scratched his head, and laughed, “What are you saying, Pavilion Master Su? This young master… is not injured at all… hiccup…”

Everyone secretly mocked him countless times in their hearts.

Wan Guangliu couldn’t stand it any longer and blurted out, “Second Young Master, the Immortal Lord’s body is barely cold, yet you’re drinking and indulging in debauchery here! What kind of behavior is this!”

Before he finished speaking, one of the delicate beauties beside him rolled her eyes and hurriedly defended herself, “Peak Master Wan, you don’t know, but after learning the devastating news of the Immortal Lord’s passing, the Second Young Master cried for an hour and vomited several liters of blood… He was so heartbroken that he had no choice but to drown his sorrows in alcohol…”

“Yes, and besides, the Second Young Master is weak from mourning the Immortal Lord, so he needs to eat and drink to recover…” another beauty added.

Yu Tianji froze on the spot, as if recalling his father’s passing, blinked his peach blossom eyes, and then his tears fell.

Li Yuebai was speechless.

Did the Second Young Master think he was Ruan Ji[1], the famous scholar of the Wei and Jin dynasties?

Fortunately, everyone was already used to this kind of scene and wasn’t too surprised. Apart from secretly sighing and looking down on him, they showed no other unusual behavior.

Soon, a healer arrived and sobered up the second young master, finally ending the farce. But the farce wasn’t over yet. Just as the second young master was staggering away, supporting the two beauties, Li Yuebai called him back.

“Lord Tianji, please wait,” Li Yuebai said.

According to the rules of the cultivation world, one should address a young master of a cultivation family by adding “Lord” after their name.

“Hmm?” Yu Tianji’s charming eyes swept over him.

“According to the rules, Lord Tianji, please escort the Immortal Lord’s memorial tablet,” Li Yuebai said.

“…” Yu Tianji narrowed his eyes, his finger wagging as he pointed at Li Yuebai: “Hmm, you look familiar. You’re that…that who was it again? Which old codger?”

“Mu Qingning, the current High Priest,” Li Yuebai sighed.

“Hmm, Beauty Mu, thank you for reminding me.” Yu Tianji awkwardly straightened his posture, barely managing to tidy his appearance, before swaying over and picking up the Immortal Lord’s memorial tablet.

Watching his unsteady gait, Li Yuebai felt a pang of worry and couldn’t help but cast a spell to prevent him from falling.

Thankfully, Yu Tianji didn’t cause any more trouble and properly escorted the memorial tablet, placing it back neatly.

The ceremony was finally over.

Just as everyone was about to disperse, Yu Tianji called them back.

“I heard you all had a rather heated debate. Some say we should fight the Demonic Sect, others say we should prioritize preserving our lives…” Yu Tianji narrowed his eyes, scanning the crowd: “Since you all have your reasons, I’d like to hear them. So, those immortals who advocate war, could you condescend to come to my Auspicious Hall and explain yourselves?”

The Auspicious Hall was Yu Tianji’s residence; the name alone reflected his hedonistic lifestyle.

Everyone hesitated, wondering what had gotten into this second young master.

Had he also realized the threat of the Demonic Sect and suddenly become aware of his own identity, intending to get involved in Kunlun affairs?

Yu Tianji didn’t explain further. After speaking, he flicked his sleeves and led his men back, leaving everyone looking at each other in bewilderment.

“Master, what do you think? Should we go?” Wan Guangliu’s disciple whispered. “Perhaps the Second Young Master really has something to say to us, the pro-war faction?”

“Hmph.” Wan Guangliu’s disbelief and disdain were obvious.

Everyone knew that Yu Tianji was utterly incompetent, his Taoist magic and swordsmanship were poor, and he had no shame whatsoever. Such a person was bound to be the biggest surrenderist.

The only possible reason for inviting them to the hall for discussion was to beg several powerful immortals to protect him and help him escape far away.

Everyone could imagine how pathetic this Second Young Master would be. Perhaps as soon as they entered, he would kneel on the ground, spouting a long, pitiful plea, begging them to protect him and escort him to safety because he was the Immortal Lord’s own flesh and blood.

“I am busy with affairs, so I will not go,” Wan Guangliu said coldly.

“That’s not how it works. Regardless of whether Tianji Jun advocates war or surrender, we should discuss it,” Su Xu said.

“Sect Master Su, this Second Young Master is looking for the pro-war faction. What does that have to do with you? What right do you have to interfere?” Wan Guangliu angrily retorted, “You’re a proponent of escape, why don’t you pack your bags and run away?”

“When did I ever say I was a proponent of escape?” Su Xu asked in surprise, “I’m just being calm and self-controlled. Whichever strategy benefits Kunlun Immortal Mountain, I will support that faction.”

“Clever words!”

“Master, what do you think?” Su Xu turned to Li Yuebai.

Li Yuebai rubbed his temples, involuntarily recalling the strange light in Yu Tianji’s eyes when he opened them.

Perhaps there would be a turning point.

“We should discuss it,” Li Yuebai said.

“Master is right,” Su Xu praised.

Soon, Li Yuebai and several pro-war immortals arrived at the Auspicious Hall.

Su Xu wasn’t exactly a staunch advocate of war, and given his discord with Wan Guangliu, he ultimately didn’t come with the others.

Upon entering the Auspicious Hall, he saw Yu Tianji sitting in the central seat, his posture erratic, twirling a sword in his hand with unsteady ease; the sword clattered to the ground.

“The esteemed immortals have arrived?” Yu Tianji lazily kicked his sword aside and surveyed the crowd.

“What does Lord Tianji wish to say to us?” Wan Guangliu asked directly.

“Nothing particularly special, quite simple indeed.” Yu Tianji stood up, clicked his tongue, and walked step by step down the platform, his eyes filled with complex emotions. But his voice, neither loud nor soft, startled everyone:

“I… advocate for war.”
