Extremely angry, Ya Zi couldn’t help but fight with Jiang Lan.

However, he lost the fight and was even beaten up by Jiang Lan, leaving him only able to angrily flap his paws and howl.

Taking advantage of his size, Jiang Lan pinned Ya Zi down with his claws, watching with amusement as he struggled and twisted. After struggling for a while, Ya Zi realized that Jiang Lan was treating him like a monkey show, and became even angrier. However, he was no match for Jiang Lan, so he could only give up and lay flat on his limbs, glaring at Jiang Lan with his dark golden eyes.

Seeing that he had stopped struggling, Jiang Lan withdrew his claws, somewhat bored.

As soon as it raised its paws, Ya Zi, who had spread itself out like a wolfskin mat, shot out like an arrow.

Jiang Lan was stunned for a moment, then immediately realized what was happening and quickly chased after them.

Fortunately, Ya Zi hadn’t run far, and Jiang Lan reacted quickly, managing to catch him back.

Jiang Lan tucked Ya Zi under his arm and made a grumbling sound in his throat. Seeing that he was still howling, he slapped his butt with his paw.

Ya Zi: !!!!!!!

He stared blankly at Jiang Lan, then revealing an expression of utter humiliation, let out a miserable howl, and buried his head in his chest.

Seeing that he had started behaving himself, Jiang Lan happily carried him forward.

Actually, he didn’t know where he was going. While chasing Ya Zi, he accidentally went up the mountain. Looking at the scenery in the mountains, he felt like he had seen it somewhere before. He walked forward in a daze and saw a village.

A village?

The word flashed through Jiang Lan’s mind, but before he could figure out what a village was, he saw a group of people emerge from it. They were all young and strong men, carrying long knives, each with a solemn and serious expression, walking towards the woods ahead.

Jiang Lan cleverly hid himself in the woods and vaguely heard them saying things like, “Mu Yiji is angry again, and this time they need to sacrifice a few heads.”

After listening with puzzlement for a while, Jiang Lan couldn’t understand what they were saying and quickly lost interest. Leaving the strange group behind, Jiang Lan looked around and, guided by his intuition, headed north…

He was still pulling on Ya Zi, so he wasn’t moving very fast. After walking for a while, seeing that Ya Zi still didn’t make a sound, he couldn’t help but put him on the ground and then push him with his paw.

Ya Zi didn’t move.

Angry and withdrawn.

Jiang Lan circled him twice, hesitated for a moment, then rummaged through the ring and pulled out two small red stones, placing them in front of Ya Zi. He then pawed at him with his paw.

Ya Zi looked up and his eyes lit up. Then he looked at Jiang Lan warily, suspecting that Jiang Lan was trying to deceive him again.

Jiang Lan understood and took a step back.

Seeing this, Ya Zi quickly snatched two small stones and stuffed them into his mouth. Before he could even taste them, he was already hurt by the stones.

So hard!

He frowned, wanting to spit it out, but then felt that it was something he had finally obtained, and he couldn’t bear to spit it out, so he could only grimace and swallow it whole.

Then he spat twice and yelled at Jiang Lan.

It tastes awful!

Jiang Lan gave him a disdainful look, took out two and crunched them himself, then happily squinted his eyes.

Ya Zi looked at him suspiciously. Seeing that the small stones he was eating were a different color than his, he suspected that he had given him the ones that weren’t tasty. He grumbled a few times in dissatisfaction and gestured for Jiang Lan to give him two more.

Jiang Lan hesitated for a moment, then stingily took out two pills and handed them to him, before slowly leading him northward…

….

The Yunnan Provincial Branch, including Song Yu, searched the mountains for a whole day, but they could not find the village that Song Yu had mentioned.

They even contacted the local government, but the response they received was that the mountains were remote, the roads were difficult to repair, and access to water and electricity was extremely difficult. So many years ago, the villagers had gradually moved away. There had been no residents in these mountains for many years, but some abandoned old villages still remained, so adventurous hikers often went there to explore.

After receiving such a reply, Song Yu had to admit that Jiang Lan’s judgment was indeed very accurate. No matter how normal those villagers looked, they were not ordinary people, and might not even be alive anymore.

“What do we do now?” Song Yu asked.

From the time he contacted the branch office after coming down the mountain until the branch office personnel arrived, they had been searching in the mountains all day, and it was now 9 p.m.

The branch director looked worried, sighed slowly, and said, “Leave two people to guard the mountains. The rest of you go back first. I’ll call Director Ying again to let him know. Song Yu, you come with me.”

Song Yu followed the bureau chief into the car, and saw the bureau chief dial Ying Long’s number with a face as bitter as an old gourd.

The call was answered immediately, as if they had been waiting for this call.

The director first gave a polite greeting, and then started talking about the ancient Wa people. When he got to Jiang Lan, he handed his phone to Song Yu, indicating that he should speak: “You know the situation better.”

Song Yu had long heard various rumors about this deputy director in Jiangcheng. He swallowed hard, calmed himself down, and then told him everything that had happened in the mountains. He also relayed Jiang Lan’s last instructions word for word.

After listening, Ying Qiao remained silent for a moment, then asked about the search situation that day before thanking him and hanging up the phone.

After hanging up the phone, he rubbed his temples and habitually opened his WeChat chat with Jiang Lan, which still only showed the messages he had sent.

He got up and paced anxiously for a few steps, wanting to rush to Yunnan Province immediately, but when he turned his head, he saw the three little brats all sticking their heads out to look at him.

Jiang Lan had instructed him before he left to take good care of the little ones. Now he certainly couldn’t just leave without looking after them.

Ying Qiao suppressed his impulse for the time being, patted the little ones’ heads, and said softly, “Wait three more days. If Jiang Lan hasn’t returned by then, we’ll go pick him up.”

The little ones vaguely realized that something seemed to have happened, and they all obediently nodded and said okay.

Ying Qiao informed Bi’an about the situation in Yunnan Province, and then, suppressing his anxiety, began to handle company affairs methodically. After finishing all the necessary tasks, he summoned several senior executives and assigned various tasks, already preparing for the trip to Yunnan Province.

Jiang Lan went to Yunnan Province early Sunday morning, and entered the mountains that evening. He then entered the space where the ancient Wa people lived, and lost contact with them after that.

Ying Qiao tried to convince himself that Jiang Lan was no minor demon; he was the ancient ferocious beast Taotie, and few powerful demons could harm him, let alone the mere ancient Wa tribe. Only a day and a night had passed, and in theory, he should be able to handle it.

He convinced himself to wait patiently, counting down the days until Jiang Lan returned, while methodically completing his tasks and preparing to go to Yunnan Province to pick him up.
