Gu Wuji looked around in his dream.

He was undoubtedly still inside the casino, but his living quarters had become the lobby.

“What’s going on with this dream?”

Gu Wuji knew his dreams in these instances must be hinting at something, so he carefully examined his surroundings.

The lobby looked incredibly luxurious, with all sorts of facilities and a large, bustling crowd of customers. It seemed like a perfectly normal place, not haunted.

However, even though these people were excited, thrilled, or frustrated, their voices didn’t reach Gu Wuji’s ears at all, as if they were from another world.

Gu Wuji slowly walked forward, approached one of the customers, and tentatively touched him, only to feel as if he were touching thin air.

“I can’t touch him after all?” Gu Wuji looked at the others around him. They all seemed perfectly normal; at most, some who looked like they hadn’t won any chips looked pale.

He didn’t even see any trace of the evil god’s mark on anyone. It was as if this casino had nothing to do with some evil god boss.

Then, Gu Wuji suddenly felt a burning sensation on the back of his hand, and the mark of the evil god slowly emerged. He immediately gripped his pocket watch tightly, ready to summon Austin at any moment.

“As expected, this dream is not safe.”

A sense of danger surged within Gu Wuji. He looked up as if possessed, and upon seeing the scene before him, he immediately became wary.

Above the hall, which was several meters high, was a mirror-like ceiling, reflecting everything below in minute detail. But unlike what Gu Wuji had seen before, the scene displayed on the ceiling showed that this hall was filled with countless grotesque ghosts.

“Just as I thought,” Gu Wuji thought to himself, “This place is probably abnormal. The ghosts seem to be imprisoned in another space, unable to directly contact people.”

He began to observe carefully and found that although there were a great many ghosts, they were not aimless. Gu Wuji, for example, had almost no ghosts around him. Others had varying numbers of ghosts around them, and it was also possible to distinguish between low-level and high-level ghosts.

“What’s going on here? Do these ghosts even have their own preferences? No, there’s definitely something wrong.”

He looked at the scene reflected on the ceiling. In one area, the number of ghosts was astonishing; it was impossible to distinguish between people and ghosts.

Following the path, Gu Wuji looked down and saw a person sitting leisurely at a table, surrounded by a large pile of chips. The dealer was pale, and the people around him were cheering, some staring at the chips with envious and eager eyes.

Gu Wuji immediately remembered that the most intriguing thing in this instance was the chips.

“Could it be that the more chips someone has, the more ghosts they attract, and the higher their quality? What happens if you collect a thousand chips?”

Gu Wuji couldn’t figure it out, but he could sense that it must be related to the evil god… Perhaps, a thousand chips gave the chance to meet the evil god boss.

He suddenly felt a chill behind him. Turning around, he saw a ghostly aura— a ghost that shouldn’t have been in this space— suddenly appearing and possessing him after he lost his last chip.

Gu Wuji tried to stop them. Although this was just a dream, he rushed forward and used a purification spell on the low-level ghosts.

The ghosts instantly turned into white light and vanished, leaving only a few chips in Gu Wuji’s hand.

Gu Wuji gripped the chips tightly. “So you can get chips by purifying ghosts? But the ghosts in this place don’t seem to be so easy to find.”

He wasn’t sure if it was just his imagination, but he felt the oppressive atmosphere in the space had lessened slightly.

However, at the same time, several more ghosts surrounded Gu Wuji. But they still couldn’t touch him; they could only possess him when he completely lost all his chips.

[Your unintentional action seems to have saved several bound ghosts. As a token of gratitude, they gave you chips as they left.]

[Hidden Quest Triggered: Purify all the ghosts in the casino.]

Gu Wuji: “…” He was shocked. There was actually a hidden quest! Hidden quests usually touched upon the ultimate truth of the entire instance, and completing them could even end the entire instance.

The gambler himself looked around blankly, seemingly realizing what had just happened, but not quite understanding what it was.

“I see,” Gu Wuji understood. “Those without chips will be haunted by the ghosts in the casino and basically won’t survive. Even their own souls will be bound to this space. So everyone here has only one goal: to win chips, but the more chips you have, the more ghosts gather around.”

He roughly understood some of the tricks of this casino. It was even more insidious than casinos in real life, after all, this was a place where losing meant losing your life.

“Getting chips isn’t difficult. The problem is, if things continue like this, I’ll definitely fall into the casino’s trap, and who knows what will happen next.” Gu Wuji pondered. “Besides, my goal isn’t to clear this dungeon, but to seal the boss into my body.”

“Alright! Then I’ll start by purifying the ghosts in the casino!”

A plan instantly formed in Gu Wuji’s mind, and he felt full of energy.

….

Gu Wuji suddenly woke up from his dream. He saw the bodyguard looking at him with disdain, though he was still somewhat discreet.

“We’re leaving, don’t sleep anymore. Young Master and the others have already gone down.”

Although the bodyguard was disdainful, he was also somewhat surprised, feeling that Gu Wuji seemed to have a lot more charisma than before, a kind of charm that was hard to dislike.

“Oh.” Gu Wuji got up and looked down to find the chips he had obtained after purifying the ghosts in the dream were still in his hand.

“It seems that dream was truly extraordinary, even reflecting reality. Could the person I saved also be a ghost?”

Gu Wuji then followed the bodyguard, attempting to summon ghosts. Sure enough, he couldn’t summon a single one. Unless certain conditions were met, this place was probably safer than outside, as he wouldn’t encounter ghosts.

Incidentally, Gu Wuji also managed to summon the ghost of the previous high-level player, temporarily placing it in a pocket watch with Austin. This way, the experienced senior could help him.

The pocket watch wasn’t large, but the space inside was actually quite spacious. That high-level player’s ghost was truly in trouble; if Gu Wuji died here, he wouldn’t fare well either. However, if he had the chance to possess another player, he would be free!

The high-level player’s ghost perked up immediately and excitedly agreed to Gu Wuji’s request.

Upon arriving outside, they happened to brush past a group of people.

Gu Wuji only vaguely sensed a strange aura emanating from these three rather gloomy-looking individuals, each with strange markings on their bodies.

“Senior, how do you feel?”

“Who’s your senior?!” the high-level player’s ghost thought to himself, then cautiously spoke, “Looks like those people. They’re not easy to mess with; they’re all ruthless people who raise ghosts inside their bodies—” He paused, suddenly remembering that Gu Wuji had an even more formidable ghost inside him. These people, though not well-known among high-level players and raising mid-level ghosts inside their bodies, harming other players in various ways… they were nothing compared to Gu Wuji!

“Fine, forget what I said before.” The high-level player’s ghost felt that no one in the world was more awe-inspiring than Gu Wuji.

“Oh, oh.” Gu Wuji felt he might be able to exchange ideas with these people, if the opportunity arose in the future.

The three also sensed something was wrong with Gu Wuji, so they turned around, squinted at his departing figure, and immediately revealed a cold smile.

“Looks like we’ve run into another player.”

“There are so many high-level players in this dungeon, four or five already. It’s like high-level players are worthless.”

“I’m starving! There isn’t a single ghost in this godforsaken place. Those things inside me are itching to get out.” A bald man uttered chilling words.

“Don’t worry, I think we’ll have some ghosts soon.” Another bespectacled man stroked his chin. “Especially that guy who just passed by, he looks like he just became a high-level player. His soul must taste pretty good.”

….

Gu Wuji was completely unaware that he was being watched.

If the high-level player’s soul hidden in Gu Wuji’s pocket watch knew, it would probably think those guys were just walking into a trap. They didn’t even realize how miserable he was now, trying to possess Gu Wuji.

The two arrived at the hall and immediately felt the bustling crowd.

Gu Wuji looked around, and it was indeed exactly as he had seen in his dream. But the ceiling projection didn’t show any ghosts, just ordinary scenery.

“So it really can only be seen under special circumstances?”

Gu Wuji quickly spotted the man he had saved earlier. The man looked somewhat bewildered, but there were no ghosts harassing him.

“Looks like I did a good deed after all.” Gu Wuji was quite satisfied.

He then asked the attendant beside him, “Are there any rules in this casino?”

Seeing such a handsome and charismatic man asking, the attendant immediately answered respectfully.

It was mostly basic etiquette and rules about not cheating. The first part was quite casual, but the attendant repeatedly emphasized these points, his tone carrying a hint of warning.

“Thank you.”

Gu Wuji was certain that cheating in this casino would be easy for a high-level player. But the attendant’s repeated reminders meant that cheating would likely attract more ghosts and cause more trouble.

An ordinary person who cheated would probably die instantly.

This was something even advanced players feared; after all, even a multitude of ants could kill an elephant. But for Gu Wuji…

Gu Wuji, carrying the ghost of the advanced player, excitedly walked into the hall, “Senior, the cheating from now on depends on you!”

The ghost of the advanced player: ??
