Trigger warning; mild violence
Water splashed onto Xing Cheng’s forearm, and the blood that had just congealed slowly seeped out from the wound, trickling down his fingertips. The sharp razor was still tightly gripped in his palm, its tip pressed against Lu Dangui’s right wrist, the icy touch against his skin, hovering at the edge of his shallow veins.
Lu Dangui was horrified by what he saw. He forced a smile and began to explain, “Well, actually I—”
After Xing Cheng pulled this stunt, he had long forgotten what his next lines were.
Just then, there was a loud knocking on the bathroom door.
Xing Shi’s anxious voice came from outside the door:
“Young Master, are you inside, Young Master?”
Immediately following was Daishu Fujita’s piercing scream: “Xing Cheng, are you alright? Don’t scare me, open the door!!”
The noise outside grew louder, accompanied by heavy knocking sounds from tools; someone was forcibly trying to pry open the door.
Xing Shi broke out in a cold sweat. After the young master’s car accident, in order to prevent any further accidents, Chairman Xing had a tracking device installed on the young master’s wheelchair.
They had been keeping watch outside the Fujita residence all night. So when they discovered the tracking signal had disappeared, they quickly contacted the Fujita family. The old butler led people into the hall to check and discovered that something had happened.
If anything were to happen to the young master again, then—
Xing Shi dared not think about it further.
Upon hearing the loud noise outside the door, Xing Cheng’s expression changed drastically.
The razor fell from his hand with a thud, splashing water everywhere.
Lu Dangui had turned numb ever since Xing Shi and the others arrived at the door.
That’s good now.
In short, it was a lost cause.
He spent so long in the bathroom, putting on a melodramatic show and getting soaked in the bathwater. Meanwhile, those fools outside the door, single-handedly, sent their master’s illness back to square one.
The next second, Xing Cheng grabbed Lu Dangui by the collar with one hand and slammed his back against the tiled wall next to the bathtub.
Xing Cheng’s eyes were bloodshot, and his well-defined knuckles gripped Lu Dangui’s throat tightly, as if he wanted to strangle the man in front of him to death.
“You are not Ah Feng.”
Xing Cheng spoke to him, enunciating each word clearly.
Lu Dangui couldn’t answer. He opened his mouth wide like a dying fish, struggling desperately in Xing Cheng’s hands, trying to escape the control of this dangerous individual.
The hand gripping his neck tightened more and more:
“You are not Ah Feng, who are you?”
Lu Dangui rolled his eyelids up and made a difficult gurgling sound in his throat.
“Who are you?”
“You are, you are—”
A hysterical frenzy appeared in Xing Cheng’s eyes. He seemed determined to find the answer no matter what. While asking for directions, he kept increasing the pressure on his hands.
I can’t breathe.
This was the last thought that flashed through Lu Dangui’s mind.
The person in front of him became increasingly blurry, and a sharp pain shot through the back of his head, which he only realized after a while.
Then, everything went black and he lost consciousness.
….
When Lu Dangui woke up again, his first reaction was to reach out and grope around, trying to find his phone.
He never expected that he would find it so easily where he just reached out and touched it.
Before going into the bathroom to find Xing Cheng, he placed his phone on the coffee table, and later—
Yes, so what happened next?
Lu Dangui suddenly opened his eyes.
An unfamiliar ceiling, a half-open latticed window, the soft sunlight of an autumn morning… His gaze lingered on the Japanese tatami mats by the door, and he recognized the layout of the Fujita residence.
He was still at Daishu’s house in Tsubada.
Upon seeing the time displayed on her phone screen, Lu Dangui was startled and quickly sat up in bed.
His head was still throbbing slightly. He rubbed his temples a few times, opened the work group, and sent a long message to the director to explain.
After sending the message, Lu Dangui felt like dying.
I wonder what the director’s expression will be when he finds out he’s been late for two days in a row.
“Dr. Lu, you’re awake?”
A familiar figure appeared at the door; it was Daishu Fujita, who had rushed up from the dining room downstairs as soon as he heard that Lu Dangui had woken up.
Daishu Fujita instructed the servants to bring breakfast to Lu Dangui, then sat down on the small sofa by the bed: “Are you… feeling any better?”
Lu Dangui nodded slightly, then frowned and asked Fujita Daishu, “Where is he?”
“You’re asking about Brother Cheng?” Young Master Fujita blinked innocently. “He’s fine. He fully recovered last night and went back to the hospital with Xing Shi and the others a long time ago.”
Fujita Daishu didn’t intend to explain the situation from last night to Lu Dangui in detail, because it was a complicated matter.
Last night, Dr. Lu fell unconscious, and it was Brother Cheng who dragged him out of the bathroom.
When he and the Xing family bodyguards broke down the door and rushed in, Brother Cheng had just fallen out of the bathtub. Brother Cheng’s leg hadn’t fully recovered, and he was crawling forward, holding onto Dr. Lu’s collar with one hand and bracing himself against the floor with the other.
The outside of the bathtub was covered in specks of blood, and Lu Dangui lay unconscious on the floor. His first thought was that Brother Cheng had lost his mind and killed the young doctor he had brought with him.
After thinking for a moment, Fujita Daishu asked Lu Dangui nervously, “Dr. Lu, should I have called Brother Cheng out yesterday? He’s been in the hospital for so long, but I feel like he’s even crazier than before?”
Lu Dangui scooped up the porridge from the plate, took a small sip, and didn’t want to pay any attention to this silly young master.
While eating breakfast, Lu Dangui began to recall the events of the previous night.
He didn’t expect someone with a severe personality disorder to reflect on their actions. But to not even offer an apology, to wake up and simply walk away— that’s exactly the kind of thing Xing Cheng would do.
This extremely irresponsible behavior was exactly the same as what happened to his sister back then.
“That’s right!”
Fujita Daishu slapped his forehead, as if he had suddenly remembered something. He took an envelope from the bedside table and handed it to Lu Dangui: “Brother Cheng left this specifically for me to give to you before he left.”
Before leaving, Xing Cheng visited the young doctor and sat silently in the room for more than ten minutes. After leaving the room, he left this envelope for Fujita Daishu to pass on.
Lu Dangui opened the envelope and found a black bank card inside.
“Brother Cheng said he hurt you first last night, so he’s giving this card to you as compensation.” Fujita Daishu said to Lu Dangui very sincerely, “You can use it as you like, buy whatever you want. The password is his birthday, you can find it online.”
Lu Dangui: “……”
Seeing that Lu Dangui’s expression was not quite right, Fujita Daishu scratched his head: “Dr. Lu, what’s wrong?”
Is this doctor trying to overcharge because he sees how generous Brother Cheng is with money?
Daishu Fujita thought to himself. Everyone in the industry knows that Brother Cheng is not to be trifled with, and everyone knows to be careful. It seems that this young doctor is still too green.
“Nothing.”
After putting the bank card back into the envelope, Lu Dangui quickly returned to normal.
This is just how he must usually deal with small romantic entanglements; he’s just using the same tricks to fob me off.
Lu Dangui clenched his fists so tightly they cracked and smiled through gritted teeth: “I just…want to…kill…people.”
