The semi-open-air balcony next to the pool had been converted into a VIP lounge. The lobby was filled with the ancient scent of pine resin, and several treatment beds were placed in the center of the lobby. In front of the sofa in the corner, there was a foot bath tub and flower petals, which seemed to be specially prepared for Xing Cheng alone.

The masseuse, who had been brought in from afar, addressed the baby-faced boy as “Mr. Fujita” in broken Japanese.

“Mr. Fujita, may I come in?”

The masseuse stood outside the door and asked respectfully.

With the help of the Fujita family’s servants, Xing Cheng had been removed from his wheelchair and moved to the sofa. Leaning against the soft sofa cushions, he moved his aching and swollen legs while observing the two people in the hall.

Daishu Niita[1] had already changed into a bathrobe, which was loosely draped over his body, as he sat by the pool, giving orders to the passing servants. The young doctor surnamed Lu sat nervously in the corner, taking small bites of the Japanese tea snacks on his plate, his hands and feet awkwardly unsure of what to do.

He knew why Daishu Fujita had called him over today; he had deliberately dragged the young doctor into this mess.

As long as there were unsuspecting outsiders present, Daishu Niita wouldn’t dare do anything out of line. Moreover, they were still in a cooperative relationship; if either party were to break off relations, it would be detrimental to either of them.

“Dr. Lu, do you like sashimi? We have a very authentic chef at home. If you don’t mind, you can go to the dining room to eat.”

Daishu Fujita also noticed the doctor’s unease and spoke to Lu Dangui with great enthusiasm.

Xing Cheng stared at the dark red cherry juice on the coffee table, his expression unreadable.

Daishu was making excuses to deliberately get rid of outsiders and spend time alone with him.

“No, no, there’s no need to trouble yourself.”

Setting down the tray of tea and snacks, Lu Dangui quickly waved her hand: “Mr. Xing is a patient who is traveling. According to regulations, I need to monitor his health at all times. It’s fine for me to stay here. Thank you for your hospitality.”

If Xing Cheng dared to cause any more trouble and he got scolded by the dean again for no reason, he would kill Xing Cheng.

Lu Dangui secretly made a vow in his heart.

Furthermore, just because he didn’t dare to leave this place at will didn’t mean he wanted to insert himself between these two for no reason.

One had his delicate shoulders partially exposed and his face flushed, while the other was disabled and could only be manipulated. It seemed like something was bound to happen between them, right?

Lu Dangui took two chocolates from the tea table, then silently walked around to the back of the large screen, which was furthest away from the two of them but still within sight of Xing Cheng, intending to pretend to be deaf and dumb to everything that was about to happen.

He was actually a little puzzled. Xing Cheng clearly had a powerful background and a large family business. Although he was mentally ill, he was definitely not the kind of person who would be easily manipulated. Why was he so indulgent towards this little brat? This didn’t quite fit the persona that Xing Cheng had presented to him so far.

Anyway, it’s none of my business.

He didn’t care about the road ahead.

As soon as Lu Dangui left, Daishu Fujita plopped down on the sofa and moved closer to Xing Cheng.

“Ah Cheng, if my mom finds out I tipped you off this time, she’ll probably break my legs.” Daishu Fujita looked resentful. “Did you even think about what kind of compensation you’ll give me?”

Xing Cheng moved his thin lips: “What I can give you, I will naturally deliver on. Didn’t we agree on that before?”

“Also, your brother is really ruthless!”

Seeing Xing Cheng’s lack of interest, Fujita Daishu didn’t dare to tease him anymore. He just straightened up from the sofa, picked up the iPad on the table, opened two news articles, and handed them to Xing Cheng.

After reading the news, Xing Cheng’s eyes darkened slightly, but his heart remained calm.

If Xing Yu’s little actions could provoke him, then he wouldn’t need to go to the hospital for any treatment.

“Now that Baiwen Entertainment has been acquired by Haibo Shipbuilding, your brother is definitely targeting you. My mother and your brother are now in cahoots, but unfortunately, my father and I don’t have many shares, so we don’t have much say,” Fujita Dashu said in a low voice. “Xing Yu came to my company today, just wanting to make an example of Sister Fen. He found some witnesses from somewhere and insisted that Sister Fen was involved in fraud and asked the police to arrest her.”

“Does your brother know what you’re thinking? Does he know you want to come back and start over—”

Xing Cheng interrupted Fujita Daishu: “Alright.”

“Just do your job well,” Xing Cheng said. “Don’t worry about the rest.”

The two were talking quite loudly, and Lu Dangui, who was in the same hall with them, could hear them clearly.

He regretted accepting Dean Qiu’s commission; he was filled with remorse, so much so that he was filled with utter despair.

Baiwen Entertainment, often referred to as “Idiot Baiwen” during fan wars, was Xing Cheng’s management company before he retired from the entertainment industry.

Sister Fen was Xing Cheng’s agent. She was a capable woman in her thirties and a controversial figure who frequently appeared on trending topics.

“There are no brands that Sister Fen doesn’t like, and no endorsements that Sister Fen can’t get.” That was a perfect description of her.

Judging from the tone of Fujita Daishu, Baiwen Entertainment was probably owned by his family. His mother was likely the CEO of Baiwen Entertainment, the former double-award-winning actress, Rong Quwen.

Lu Dangui recalled some rumors circulating among anti-fans. Someone had indeed dug up information before, suggesting that Rong Quwen had secretly married a long time ago, to a man outside the entertainment industry.

Haters even spread rumors to smear Xing Cheng, claiming that Rong Quwen’s secret marriage partner was Xing Cheng, who was more than ten years younger than her. Otherwise, how could it be explained that Xing Cheng had such good resources after his debut?

So, Rong Quwen did indeed marry someone outside the entertainment industry, perhaps a wealthy Japanese businessman, and later gave birth to Fujita Daishu.

Based on what the two mentioned in their conversation earlier— Baiwen Entertainment being acquired, Xing Cheng’s former agent being arrested, and the heir of Baiwen coming to them for help—

This sounds like someone is specifically targeting Xing Cheng.

Thinking of this, Lu Dangui just wanted to cover his ears and jump out of the window to escape.

Even though he signed a confidentiality agreement, he had absolutely no desire to know any of this!

Are these level of trade secrets something he should be listening to? Will he be silenced after tonight?

Lu Dangui raised his head, wanting to sneak a peek at what was happening outside.

Looking out from the semi-openwork screen, he was stunned.

Outside the screen, the masseuse had finished massaging Xing Cheng’s feet and was now massaging his shoulders and back.

Xing Cheng sat on the physiotherapy bed with his head down, as if he had fallen asleep again.

Car accidents could have irreversible effects on the injured, and Xing Cheng’s tendency to become easily fatigued was very evident in this case.

His back was slender and fair, but etched with a long, menacing scar. Perhaps due to the passage of time, the scar had become deeply etched into his spine, becoming a part of him.

At the base of the spine, near the waist, there was a small tattoo, as if it was deliberately tattooed in that location.

The tattoo was a little star.

The scar on his back thus looked like a meteor shower falling from the sky, leaving a long tail.

….

Lu Dangui remembered something.

The profile picture of his sister’s old Weibo account also looked like a shooting star with a trail of light.

That was the official logo of Xing Cheng’s fan club.

The account’s last Weibo post was three years ago, a repost of a video of Xing Cheng’s debut concert.

Back then, Xing Cheng was only in his early twenties, completely lacking the aloofness of the current movie star. He had brown curly hair, wore a black vest, and was covered in bone chains— he looked like a total punk rocker.

The concert footage from that year was very blurry. All he remembered was that Xing Cheng raised his hand to the audience in front of the screen and made a love and peace gesture.

“Don’t you always say that I am your star? So you can tell me any wishes you have.”

“When the stars streak across the night sky, all the wishes you make will surely come true.”

“Cheng Cheng, we will always love you!!!!”

I love you all too!

On stage, twenty-year-old Xing Cheng smiled brightly, three fingers held together on his forehead, the beauty mark at the corner of his eye shining under the stage lights: “I swear, I will stay with you all the way to the very end!”

[1] “Nita” (or “Niita”) following a name is typically a given name (first name) or a diminutive nickname, rather than a title or suffix like “Jr.” or “Esq.” So the boy’s actual name is Daishu Fujita.
