Yan Han obediently stood up. His hands had been on the desk answering questions as the teachers approached, so he simply opened his palms for the grade head to see, then stood obediently to the side.

He hadn’t uttered a single word, only letting them scrutinize his exam paper and search his desk and chair with his large, clear eyes. Compared to him, the other students were far more unsettled.

Although the school strictly enforced regulations against cheating, that only applied after someone was caught cheating. Such a blatant search for evidence usually meant the evidence was irrefutable.

…So Yan Han really cheated?

The exam rooms were always completely shuffled, and this room contained students from classes nine through eighteen.

But regardless of their class, everyone knew Yan Han.

Some knew him because of his good looks, others because of the legends he had created at school over the past six months.

He won a knowledge competition hosted by a live-streaming website, and in just one year, he went from being second to last in his class to second in the whole class…

Because of his inspiring attitude towards learning, Yan Han was even mentioned by many other homeroom teachers, who used the phrase “someone else’s child” to describe him.

So, although he didn’t get into Class 9 this time, his progress was still widely recognized throughout the second grade.

But such a perfect person in every aspect… cheated? If he really cheated, then did he also get into Class 10 by cheating?

Some people only suspected it, while others chose to believe it.

—Just think, how could someone who started in Class 17 make such a big breakthrough in such a short time and get into Class 10?

If he cheated, that makes sense.

Some even conspired to think that Yan Han deliberately cheated his way into Class 14, just to avoid being too obvious and arousing suspicion.

That was quite a deep scheme!

….

Call it being “spectators” or “envious,” while one group searched Yan Han’s seat, the other students desperately wanted to record the scene on their phones.

However, this was an exam, and electronic devices were strictly prohibited except for calculators; any violation was considered cheating.

The punishment was outrageously strict. Most people wouldn’t dare bring their phones into the exam room, and even those who did would turn them off and never take them out.

But the inability to record the scene didn’t stop some students from being curious and gossiping. The proctors tried to maintain discipline twice without success, until finally the formidable grade head shouted, and the exam room quieted down.

“Keep your eyes on your exam papers! Looking around like this, trying to cheat by copying a couple of questions? Behave yourselves! I’d like to see who’s still looking up at others!”

The grade head was known for her fierce and shrewish nature; everyone in the grade was afraid of her. So her shout silenced everyone.

However, the disruption caused by the discipline delay slowed down the search process slightly.

Glancing at the clock hanging at the front of the classroom, Yan Han, already three minutes late, began to grow impatient. He asked, “Teacher, is there anything else? Can I continue answering the questions?”

His voice was calm and even, his pronunciation clear and articulate, showing no sign of panic; he certainly seemed to be fine.

The teacher next to him glanced at him. By this time, the head of the grade had thoroughly searched his desk and chair, finding nothing suspicious, and straightened up again.

But in that instant, a glance caught her eye in the back of Yan Han’s desk… there seemed to be something there.

The head of the grade reached in and pulled out three or four small slips of paper filled with various formulas.

“What’s this?”

The head of the grade pulled the items out, and the student behind Yan Han immediately stood up, clearly startled, saying, “Teacher, this isn’t mine! I don’t know what happened.”

The head of the grade didn’t speak but clearly didn’t think the items belonged to the student in the back row.

She looked at Yan Han, her face immediately turning cold.

It was precisely to prevent students from hoarding things that the desks were rearranged during exams, with the front of the desk facing forward.

Thinking about it this way, it made sense why she hadn’t found anything in Yan Han’s desk earlier.

Putting the note in the front corner of the desk wasn’t convenient, whether to retrieve it or put it in.

But casually tossing it into the back corner was much easier; she could just pull it out from behind her back when the proctor wasn’t looking or even throw the used note in to frame the student behind her.

Before coming, she hadn’t believed Yan Han would cheat. If the person who reported her hadn’t been so adamant, saying it would be too late if they didn’t come to find evidence, she wouldn’t have openly searched during the exam. Now the evidence was conclusive…

“Yan Han, I can’t believe you cheated! You really… disappoint the teacher so much!”

The other students, who hadn’t dared to look up, were all listening intently. Now, suddenly hearing this, but not knowing what they had found, they had no choice but to risk looking up again to check the situation.

This time, the head of the grade didn’t yell at them; she probably wasn’t in the mood to care about anyone else.

Amidst the curious stares and probing of others, Yan Han remained calm. He just said to the head of the grade, “Teacher, could I see those few pieces of paper?”

The head of the grade was surprised by her composure at a time like this, and frowned, a suspicion creeping into her heart.

Was her calmness at this point genuine, or was she deliberately feigning ignorance?

If she hadn’t cheated, shouldn’t her reaction have been like the student behind her— so panicked and uneasy, wondering how the notes had gotten into his desk?

But if she had cheated, now that she was caught red-handed, was there any need to look at these few small pieces of paper?

The head of the grade’s mind raced, and Yan Han’s outstretched hand remained in place.

After a moment’s consideration, she finally handed over the pieces of paper.

These pieces of paper were worn and old. After examining them, Yan Han calmly unfolded them to look at them.

They contained not only physics formulas and knowledge points, but also various classical Chinese poems, all handwritten in tiny, dense black ink, the characters barely legible. But upon closer inspection, the characters were all well-formed and easily recognizable, clearly indicating that the person who copied them had put in considerable effort.

“This isn’t mine,” Yan Han said directly.

“If it’s not yours, then whose is it?” the grade head teacher asked. “These notes are all stuffed very deep, and the angle makes it impossible for the person behind you to have put them in there. You’re more likely to be the one who did it.”

Yan Han said, “I know all the knowledge points and formulas on this, so I don’t need to make this, let alone bring it into the exam. Besides, I didn’t have time to write it.”

After Yan Han finished speaking, he showed the handwriting on the small piece of paper to the three teachers standing next to him, saying, “To write so much content in such small and neat handwriting, it would be impossible to do it in less than several hours. But as everyone knows… I didn’t have that time.”

“This…” The grade director paused, thinking that what she said made sense.

It’s impossible to make such cheat sheets in the classroom. Everyone is in class and studying together, with so many eyes watching. If someone made one, they would definitely be discovered.

But it’s possible to make it on the weekend and bring it to the classroom or do it in the dormitory at night, since that’s private time, and you can do whatever you want.

But the problem was that this student, Yan Han, had been studying online via live stream for the past week.

Because of the intensity and commendable dedication, this student’s live stream has already spread online. She had been following this kind of content yesterday, so she knew a little about it.

To be honest, she didn’t believe that a student who studied so hard would cheat. It was just self-deception…

“The school will verify what you said,” the grade director said.

She didn’t want to make a big fuss and affect other students’ exams. Now that they had found evidence, she figured they should wait until after the exams to discuss it further: “You take your exams first. I’ll take these notes.”

Yan Han let her take the notes back, but she didn’t sit down immediately or give up. Instead, she said, “Teacher, you just said someone reported me, which is why you came to investigate? Please think about it, is it because someone reported me that you subconsciously assumed I prepared these notes?”

“…”

“This classroom isn’t enclosed; it’s completely open. Anyone could slip these notes in here. So I request to review the surveillance footage, not just today’s, but from yesterday when the students in this class started clearing out their books.”

“This…”

The grade head was at a loss for words.

If they could review the surveillance footage, would they have needed to go to such lengths to search for evidence?!

It was simply because the school had carried out maintenance and renovations on the teaching building’s wiring over the weekend, but due to the unreliable construction team hired by the logistics department, the surveillance cameras on the third floor were completely down and wouldn’t be repaired until after the students’ National Day holiday.

To prevent students from becoming unruly and undisciplined after learning there were no cameras, the school hadn’t publicized the matter, so it was normal that Yan Han didn’t know.

The grade head thought to herself.

But she couldn’t explain this to the students in front of so many people.

The grade head remained silent, and Yan Han, unconcerned, continued,

“Besides, you said these notes were placed very deep. If I intentionally hid them, it would indeed be difficult for anyone to see them. But to take them out or put them back in during the exam would require a significant action. It’s impossible for the people behind me and nearby not to see them, and it’s impossible for the proctor not to see them either.”

Yan Han calmly analyzed the situation, her handsome eyes always revealing seriousness and determination. She looked directly at the teachers opposite her and said in a deep voice, “So I want to confront the person who reported me. I want to know when he saw me put the notes in or take them out?”

“…”

The teachers exchanged glances, all impressed by this calm and analytical student.

Seeing Yan Han’s frank demeanor and speech, they subconsciously felt that what he said made a lot of sense.

At this moment, the teacher who had been scrutinizing Yan Han’s exam paper said to the head of the academic affairs office, “This student has answered all the questions correctly so far; I haven’t seen a single mistake.”

He then looked at Yan Han with admiration, clearly inclined to believe she was being framed.

Upon hearing that Yan Han had answered all the questions correctly, not only was the head of the grade stunned, but the surrounding students were also taken aback, and then they couldn’t help but start whispering amongst themselves again.

This was a huge scandal; those who had previously tried to cheat by copying a couple of questions had forgotten about this “serious matter”!

The head of the grade, quick-witted as ever, thought: Physics exams are different from others; most questions require calculation!

The contents of these cheat sheets were all knowledge points, not ready-made answers. No other student had even reached the second calculation question, so how could someone who was simultaneously flipping through cheat sheets and calculating be so fast?!

And all of them were correct!

The only explanation could be, as he said, that he knew all the knowledge!

His ability was the best proof; he had no need to use cheat sheets!

If that’s the case… then when did the person who reported it see Yan Han slipping the note? Did he really see it?

This is utterly despicable!
