8 PM, Wanhui Villa.

The thousand-square-meter mansion was hidden in the camphor forest halfway up the mountain. Several Xing family bodyguards stood guard at the gate of the villa, their black suits almost blending into the thick darkness of the night.

As the group passed through the front courtyard, Xing Shi heard the eldest young master say, “You take some men and keep watch outside.”

This meant the masters were about to discuss serious matters and wanted to keep unrelated people out.

“Yes.”

Xing Shi nodded in agreement, ignoring the pleading look from the young doctor beside him, and turned to leave the compound with his group of brothers.

Seeing the men in black leave, Lu Dangui’s heart skipped a beat.

He had absolutely no chance to slip away, and now he probably had no choice but to bite the bullet and go for it.

Let’s go back to 6 PM.

Upon receiving the invitation from Actor Xing, Lu Dangui’s first reaction was to decisively refuse.

If a psychiatrist has a close personal relationship with a patient and is reported, they will be transferred from their post.

Compared to his livelihood, his old grudges with Xing Cheng were nothing. He didn’t want to ruin his career on his very first day of seeing patients.

Seeing Lu Dangui’s resolute attitude, Xing Cheng didn’t say anything more. And as soon as his appointment ended, he left the hospital with his bodyguard and the baby-faced boy.

Before leaving, Xing Cheng left a message for Lu Dangui, who was standing at the door, in a voice so soft it was almost a whisper.

He forced a smile and said, “Dr. Lu, please help me.”

After Xing Cheng left, Lu Dangui leaned back in his office chair, staring at the medical record and consultation notes in his hand, his mind a jumble of thoughts.

There had been too many things happening today; he needed some time to calm down.

However, Xing Cheng’s last words before leaving asked me to help him…

What did it mean exactly?

Lu Dangui didn’t expect that no sooner had Xing Cheng left than Dean Qiu called.

“Xiao Lu, the hospital hasn’t issued an outpatient leave permit yet. How could you let the patient leave the consultation room without even reporting it?”

Lu Dangui was stunned: “Dean, I—”

Seeing Xing Cheng come and go so freely, he assumed that this person had special privileges and didn’t have to be treated the same as other hospitalized patients.

“What do you mean, ‘I’? I’m asking you, what does Article 4 of the Regulations on the Management of Patients Leaving the Hospital stipulate?”

“Article Four… Psychiatrists must be vigilant and strictly prevent patients from running away; if necessary, multiple people can be arranged to assist them—”

“Then hurry up and go check it out!”

After being berated by the hospital director, Lu Dangui had no choice but to pack up and run downstairs. He hailed a taxi on the street and rushed from the hospital to the location Director Qiu had mentioned.

It wasn’t until he got out of the car near the upscale residential area that he realized Xing Cheng’s bodyguards were already standing at the gate, as if they had been waiting for him for a long time.

Right after finishing his consultation, Xing Cheng called Dean Qiu, saying that he had gone out alone and the doctor had not followed the regulations to accompany him.

This was a classic case of the guilty party accusing the innocent first!

Upon seeing the man in the wheelchair in the distance, Lu Dangui’s fist hardened.

….

After the bodyguard left, the baby-faced boy, acting very much like a host, ran forward and put his hands on the back of Xing Cheng’s wheelchair: “Ah Cheng, the masseuse is already waiting inside. Shall I push you over?”

Before the boy could move, Xing Cheng had already pressed the button on the handle. The wheelchair hummed and rolled forward, carrying him along.

Poor child.

Looking at the boy standing there in a daze, Lu Dangui was filled with mixed emotions.

That’s a fully automatic wheelchair; it doesn’t need anyone to push it.

But then again, this person could clearly control the wheelchair himself, so why does he always bring a bodyguard to push him around? Isn’t that just showing off?

Seeing that he couldn’t be of much help, the boy ran into the house to make arrangements. Xing Cheng, in his wheelchair, continued forward, but suddenly stopped at the corner at the end of the corridor.

He turned around and looked at Lu Dangui behind him, raising his eyebrows slightly, as if wondering why Lu Dangui wasn’t following.

Lu Dangui: “…”

He walked up to Xing Cheng in a few steps, only to find that the man was still standing in the same spot, not moving.

Taking a few deep breaths, Lu Dangui smiled and asked, “Mr. Xing?”

Xing Cheng stared at the enormous object around the corner, his tone somewhat lazy: “Dr. Lu, could you please help me?”

There stood a gilded stone lion at the corner, with a large red ribbon tied around its neck, symbolizing wealth and prosperity. This object blocked the way, preventing the wheelchair from passing.

A few seconds later, a pair of hands gently supported the back of the wheelchair, with curled knuckles pressing against the back of Xing Cheng’s head. The person behind him exerted force with their wrists, turning the wheelchair around the narrow corner and carefully pushing it back onto the wide front avenue.

Xing Cheng didn’t say anything, and Lu Dangui didn’t let go either. He just slowly pushed the wheelchair towards the brightly lit main house.

The boy’s home had a mixed style reminiscent of nouveau riche, with the courtyard decorated in a dazzling array of gold and glitter, not at all understated luxury, as if they wanted everyone who came to visit to see how wealthy the head of the household was.

As Lu Dangui walked along the front courtyard, he was almost blinded by the dazzling decorations.

Less than fifty meters from the main house, Lu Dangui suddenly felt the weight on the back of his fingers increase.

He looked down and realized that Xing Cheng had closed his eyes at some point and rested the back of his head on the back of his hand.

Lu Dangui felt a slight undulation coming from above his head through his fingertips and heard a steady breathing sound.

Is this person… asleep?

Lu Dangui gradually slowed down his pace, without even realizing it himself.

Brown was Xing Cheng’s signature hair color, which he hadn’t changed for many years since his debut, leading his haters to mock him for having a “nostalgia complex.” But perhaps due to his long hospital stay and lack of proper care, a lot of black hair had grown back on his head.

Lu Dangui raised his fingertip and gently poked Xing Cheng’s curly hair.

It was soft and fluffy, with a texture somewhat like the ostrich feathers that you could touch for a fee at the city zoo.

It was the first time he’d ever touched a big star’s hair.

Although it had a bit of a perverse sense of humor, but a few years ago he might have secretly taken two of them and brought them back for Lu Wenfei to keep as treasures.

But now, this man surnamed Xing was an enemy of the Lu family. If he were given a chance, he would only want to pluck this man’s hair out.

“Ah Cheng!”

The baby-faced boy rushed out from the gate: “I’ve been waiting for you for ages! Why are you two so slow?!”

The boy’s shouts woke Xing Cheng, who had just started to take a nap, and also made Lu Dangui immediately withdraw his hand.

Pushing the wheelchair into the magnificent hall, he heard Xing Cheng suddenly ask:

“Dr. Lu, does it feel good?”

Lu Dangui’s lips suddenly froze.

As if unaware of the change in Lu Dangui’s expression, Xing Cheng pressed the wheelchair button and rolled forward again.
