Above a deep black swamp, a figure was outlined.

Anos glanced down with his heterochromatic eyes, and the black mud in the swamp quickly released moisture, which condensed on the surface into transparent ice boats.

The fallen angel landed on the ice ship and put down the angel he was holding.

Luo Mi blushed and jumped back two steps, breathing rapidly.

Anos smiled at him, then closed his eyes, his figure blurring slightly. Then his shadow wriggled, and the demon Anos emerged from within, solidifying beside him.

The two Anos opened their eyes simultaneously, exchanged a glance, and then turned their heads away:

“Vomit!”

Luo Mi: “…Are you all alright?”

The demon Anos clutched his chest and waved his hand, “It’s nothing, just a little nauseous.”

Luo Mi asked in confusion, “Is it a side effect of magic? Does it need treatment?”

“It’s not a side effect,” the Holy Son Anos replied. “It’s just that being mixed up with his consciousness made me feel nauseous.”

“Likewise,” the demon Anos said coldly. “I’ll take a bath later and wash off his stench.”

Luo Mi looked around, somewhat curious: “After you merged just now, whose consciousness was in control?”

A hint of reluctance flashed across the face of the Holy Son Anos, but he still replied, “Just as I said, our consciousnesses were mixed together, so there was no distinction between which one was in control.”

Luo Mi was surprised: “What if you disagree?”

“Even when you’re alone, you’ll have different thoughts when you think about certain things, but that doesn’t prevent you from making quick judgments and decisions,” said Saint Anos. “That’s how we were just now.”

“So your judgments were completely consistent?” Luo Mi became interested. “Indeed, it’s the same person.”

The demon Anos’s face showed disgust again: “Who agrees with him? Red Horn and Rose could achieve the same effect, but that had nothing to do with Red Horn’s judgment.”

Luo Mi pondered for a moment before realizing that what the demon Anos meant was that the Red Horn Lord was brainless and therefore manipulated by the Rose Lord throughout the entire process, implying that the Holy Son Anos was also brainless.

Saint Anos glanced at the demon with his azure eyes, ignoring him, and said only to Luo Mi, “We have left the territory of the Rose Lord and entered the territory of the Lone Shadow Lord. There are few demons here now, but the natural environment is harsh, mainly consisting of black swamps. Let’s get through as quickly as possible.”

The demon Anos scoffed, “It’s so convenient to flaunt the knowledge you’ve dug out of my memories; I couldn’t get anything out of your barren brain.”

Luo Mi had become somewhat immune to their bickering— he had discovered that the two were just verbally sparring and wouldn’t actually fight back. In fact, after their “reluctant” cooperation, their judgments and actions were remarkably consistent.

This eased Luo Mi’s worries considerably, making him feel that the pressure of their fusion shouldn’t be too great, as long as they found the right method.

Luo Mi walked to the edge of the ice ship and gazed at this territory belonging to the mysterious Lone Shadow Lord.

As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but bubbling, pitch-black swamps, with a thick layer of black mist shrouding the swamps. Even in the daytime, the atmosphere was deep and gloomy, as if dangerous beings might emerge from the swamps and mist at any moment to attack them.

Recalling the information revealed by the Rose Lord, Luo Mi turned to look at the demon Anos: “Have you ever dealt with the Lone Shadow Lord?”

“Yes, we fought,” the demon Anos replied. “We fought a few times. When I came to the Demon Realm, the other demon lords were alright, but Lone Shadow was particularly hostile towards me and came to cause me trouble several times.”

“Why?”

The demon Anos spread his hands: “Who knows? Maybe he just enjoys getting beaten up.”

Luo Mi scratched his head: “I spoke with the Rose Lord, and he seemed to be hinting that I should investigate the Lone Shadow Lord.”

The demon Anos frowned: “Lone Shadow… I used to think he was rather special too. Guess what race his true form is?”

Luo Mi went through all the demon races he had ever seen in his mind, still pondering which high-level demon races the name “Lone Shadow” might be related to, when he heard the Holy Son Anos say calmly, “Lord Lone Shadow is a phantom.”

The demon Anos clicked his tongue.

Luo Mi was surprised again: “Even the lowest-ranking phantom can transform into a demon lord?”

“So what? Isn’t Zixiang a succubus too? Although it’s the highest form of a succubus.” The demon Anos said dismissively. “Besides, the Phantom race is quite interesting— the Phantom’s existence is somewhat like that of a ghost, but in fact, the birth of a Phantom has nothing to do with the dead; it’s a kind of natural spirit.”

Luo Mi pondered the word: “Natural spirit?”

“Where magic and demonic energy abound, a phantom is easily born from the local environment. Therefore, most phantoms are not very conscious, because they are essentially similar to the fog and swamp here, just a natural phenomenon.” The demon Anos stretched out his hand, and the fog in front of him was dispelled by an invisible force, and the ice ship they were standing on also began to slide forward. “If Lone Shadow is a phantom born in a special location, it would not be surprising that it possesses special powers.”

Luo Mi stroked her chin: “Does the Rose Lord mean for me to investigate the birthplace of the Lone Shadow Lord?”

“Why listen to him?” Demon Anos said with some displeasure. “After Lone Shadow disappeared, I searched his territory but found nothing unusual.”

It’s possible that the Lone Shadow Lord wasn’t born in his territory… This thought flashed through Luo Mi’s mind, then he paused, and a further connection was formed: The Rose Lord’s strength is about the same as his, so what information is there that he has to investigate instead of the Rose Lord having to investigate himself to obtain?

The answer is the light domain!

Going a step further, the Vatican!

Luo Mi frowned slightly: Does the Lone Shadow Lord have any connection with the Holy See?

Could it be that, just as the Blackwing Lord is “half” of the Holy Son, the Lone Shadow Lord is also an alias of some high-ranking figure in the Holy See?

As Saint Anos observed the changing expressions on Luo Mi’s face, he asked in a gentle voice, “Lian, what have you thought of?”

Luo Mi snapped out of his reverie and explained his thoughts, but as he spoke, he became less confident: “But it’s just my baseless guess…”

Instead, the Holy Son Anos began to ponder seriously: “Most of the territories in the Light Domain were actually controlled by the two great empires of the past. Demons won’t be born in places where holy power is abundant. We need to consider the places where the Holy See doesn’t have substantial control…”

“Not necessarily,” the demon Anos retorted. “The scope of the Light Domain has changed considerably, as has the area effectively controlled by the Holy See.”

Saint Anos pondered for a moment: “The only way to investigate the changes in the historical scope of the Light Domain and the lands controlled by the Papacy is through the Eternal Fence.”

“The true form of the Light Domain Barrier?” Luo Mi recalled Anos’s introduction of the three great artifacts of the Holy See. “Where is the Eternal Fence? Can I use it?”

Saint Anos laughed: “You are the Pope, of course you can. The Eternal Fence…”

He glanced at the demon Anos.

The demon Anos understood his look and sneered, “Don’t worry, polluting the Eternal Fence is no longer my goal.”

If it weren’t for the brief fusion of consciousness with the demon, the Holy Son Anos wouldn’t have really believed him, but he still said to Luo Mi, “The Scepter of Glory and the Book of the Lamb are both in the Holy City of Bethlehem, but the true form of the Eternal Fence is in the heavens.”

“The sun, which brings all the light and heat to the world, is where the eternal fence is located.”

….

Driven by magic, the ice ship travelled a thousand miles a day, but the land of the Demon Realm was no smaller than that of the Light Realm, and a day’s journey did not shorten the distance much.

The black fog at dusk looked more dangerous than usual, with shimmering rainbows visible in the fog, but upon closer inspection, it seemed as if there was nothing there at all.

Luo Mi and the demon Anos worked together to create a temporary piece of land in the boundless swamp, where they could rest at night.

After the two Anos merged, their injuries seemed to have improved; at least Luo Mi saw that the Holy Son’s severed arm could move again. Therefore, the demon Anos had no excuse for only making one or two tents and dutifully made three.

Luo Mi couldn’t wait to crawl into the middle tent and zip it up.

The two Anos exchanged a glance, expressing their displeasure at each other’s presence, before each entering their own tent.

After several nights, the ever-present black fog thickened considerably, and the skeletons of other demons could occasionally be seen on the surface of the swamp, indicating that they were approaching the central area of the Lone Shadow Lord’s territory.

According to the demon Anos, after the Lone Shadow Lord disappeared, the environment in his territory became increasingly harsh, and few demons bothered him.

But this was not a good thing: it meant that there were very few magical beasts in the Lone Shadow Lord’s territory, which meant that they could hardly find any food.

The two Anos seemed to be fine without eating for long periods of time, but Luo Mi was not.

When they were still on the edge of the territory, they could occasionally find a few magical beasts in the swamp or in the sky. No matter how scary they looked, they could use magic to turn them into edible food. But once they got to the central area, they didn’t even have that kind of luck anymore.

Luo Mi hadn’t eaten for two days, and even Anos’s arm looked delicious.

As evening approached, Luo Mi crawled into her tent and lay down, trying to forget his hunger and fall asleep quickly by recalling his calculus teacher’s lectures— but he failed.

He rolled over, wondering whether he should ask the demon Anos to hypnotize him, when he heard a gentle and magnetic voice coming from outside the tent: “Lian, are you asleep?”

Luo Mi was taken aback: “No.”

Before he could even sit up, he saw the tent zipper being pulled open, and Anos with his azure eyes squeezed in.

Inside the cramped tent, Luo Mi caught a whiff of Anos’s unique scent, which made his heart skip a beat.

He was stunned for a moment before he realized what was happening: “W-what happened?”

The Holy Son Anos knelt on one knee and sat half-sitting in front of him. His eyes, as blue as the sky of the Light Domain, were like a beautiful and pure sapphire, completely reflecting Luo Mi’s nervous figure.

He smiled slightly, gently placed his left hand on Luo Mi’s cheek, rubbed his thumb against Luo Mi’s earlobe, and whispered, “Are you hungry?”

Luo Mi stammered, “It’s…it’s alright…”

But his stomach protested at an inopportune moment.

Seeing Luo Mi blush, the Holy Son Anos chuckled. He paused, his eyes darting around as if gathering his courage, before continuing, “Lian, we’ll be staying in the Demon Realm for a while longer. You can’t rely solely on magical beasts for food.”

“So, what do you mean?”

The Holy Son Anos said calmly and gently, “Isn’t it better to eat in the way of succubi?”

Luo Mi had some idea of what was going on, but his heart still raced. He didn’t dare to look him in the eye and instead looked at Anos’s shoulder. Then, he was somewhat surprised to see that the Holy Son’s earlobes were bright red.

His feelings of shame suddenly lessened because of this discovery, and he could even ask, seemingly calmly, “How did you convince the other one?”

If the demon Anos hadn’t agreed, the two of them would be squeezing in and fighting over it now.

Saint Anos pursed his lips, but did not express his reluctance in front of Luo Mi. He simply said calmly, “We decided to take turns.”

Luo Mi’s face flushed red again, unable to contain himself.

His eyes darted around, and he didn’t know where to put his hands— but his body and his heart shamelessly cast the vote of approval.

Saint Anos’s lips curved up again, and his voice stammered for some reason: “I… I saw your sensitive spots in his memories, and I also learned some experience. I will make sure you eat your fill comfortably.”

Luo Mi blushed and covered his mouth: “You don’t need to say such things!”

Anos’s chest heaved twice, then he lowered his head and gave Luo Mi a gentle yet irresistible kiss.

….

The demon Anos sat atop the tent, silently watching the black mist that had become almost tangible after nightfall. He slowly exhaled and muttered to himself, “I’ll let you off this time since you’re still a virgin.”
