“Weiwei, are you happy?” Xiao Bin suddenly sensed something was amiss. His words were so heavy-hearted, yet Du Weiwei couldn’t help but curl her mouth.

He suddenly felt a chill in his heart, and he looked at Du Weiwei in disbelief.

Du Weiwei froze for a moment, then pulled back her upturned lips. “No.”

Even if she was happy, she couldn’t show it. After all, Zhang Zhongmin was doing that to get food for everyone. If she said she was happy, she’d probably be put in a sack the moment she left.

Du Weiwei knew better, so she flatly denied it.

Xiao Bin’s eyes gradually darkened. He and Du Weiwei had been apart for so long since he enlisted. So for so long, he hadn’t wanted to admit that Du Weiwei was no longer the Du Weiwei he knew.

Slowly clenching his fists, Xiao Bin took a deep breath and turned to open the door.

“Where are you going?” Du Weiwei paused, then asked unconsciously.

Even though she had ignored Xiao Bin for a while, he still came back every night. This time, when it rained, Du Weiwei was just bored enough to come watch them train.

That’s why they were trapped here.

Du Weiwei felt that Xiao Bin had wronged her and should tolerate her indifference. After a month, she finally gave Xiao Bin a good look, but he turned around and was about to leave?

“I need some quiet time.” Xiao Bin said stiffly, walked out directly, and closed the door.

Du Weiwei was stunned.

….

Fu Ke leaned on the window, looking at the dense raindrops outside. They were not too big, but they made the whole world become hazy and thick. Reaching out to catch the raindrops falling outside, Fu Ke shook her hand away in disgust.

She had never seen rain since she could remember in her previous life, but when she caught the rain just now, she was obviously repulsed and disgusted by the rain.

At this time in her previous life, she had not yet reached the fifth-level zombie, and naturally she was not conscious yet.

But she looked into the distance curiously, and her mental power captured those zombies accepting the baptism of the rain, standing quietly in the rain and letting them wash away.

Including the zombie guarding her villa. It was already level three, standing in the courtyard like a flower welcoming the rain.

The other zombies liked it, but Fu Ke didn’t. She took a quick look and went back to her novel, crunching on a crystal core as she read.

Back in the teaching building, Jian Yiluan quickly grabbed Qin Long and said, “Where are you going? It’s still raining outside. Are you crazy?”

The rain had been lingering during the past few days, and the daytime heat had cooled. The nights had grown even colder. Jian Yiluan suddenly saw Qin Long walking outside and was frightened, rushing over to grab him.

Who doesn’t know that rain is untouchable? Everyone was avoiding it, but he was still walking straight into it?

“I want to bring some quilts from everyone’s dormitories.” It was daytime, and even though it wasn’t hot, it wouldn’t be cold. But it was really cold at night. If this continued, even without getting wet, they’d get sick from the cold.

By then, things would be uncontrollable.

The “everyone” Qin Long was referring to were his dorm roommates. Not everyone, but Jian Yiluan had misunderstood.

A bitter look crossed his eyes, and he was silent for a moment. “You have to think clearly. Before, Squad Leader Zhang…”

Those unconscious and feverish people were all tied up in a classroom. It was impossible not to tie them up. Although it was a bit strange that they hadn’t turned into zombies yet, their fevers had indeed not subsided.

Before they turned into zombies, no one would have dared to kill them.

Now Zhang Zhongmin was also tied up in that classroom.

“What are you doing here?” Xiao Bin came down from upstairs, wanting to get some fresh air, and saw the two people in a stalemate.

“Squad Leader Xiao.” Jian Yiluan looked at Xiao Bin. “Qin Long wants to go to the dormitory and get everyone’s quilts. The nights have been getting colder these past few days and even huddled together it’s unbearable.”

“But, this rain…” Jian Yiluan struggled internally.

Xiao Bin waved his hand. “You guys go back, I’ll get it.”

Jian Yiluan was a little stunned, and even Qin Long looked at him.

Seeing the expressions of the two men, Xiao Bin was speechless. He’d been a little confused since Du Weiwei arrived, but he wasn’t completely lost, was he?

“What? You don’t trust me?” Xiao Bin’s tone grew colder.

“No, I’ll go with you. We’ll be faster.” There was a car parked right in front of the teaching building, so getting inside wouldn’t get wet. But getting to the driver’s side would make it easy to get wet.

Jian Yiluan glanced at Qin Long, then at Xiao Bin: “I’m coming too.”

Lin Yiyi came down quickly from upstairs: “I’m coming too. I’m stronger!”

“There’s nothing for you to do there. Stay here. Jian Yiluan and Qin Long, come with me.” Xiao Bin glanced at Lin Yiyi. Even though Zhang Zhongmin had said that in the apocalypse there would be no distinction between men and women, only humans and zombies, Xiao Bin’s treatment of Du Weiwei stemmed from his male chauvinism. He believed men should protect women; and that women were inherently fragile and in need of protection.

So upon hearing Lin Yiyi’s words, he instinctively refused.

“One more person means more help. With all that quilting for so many people, when will you three even move it? And there’s also the children’s quilts!” Lin Yiyi thought of the children huddled together in the cold these past two days, and it reminded her of her time back at Sunshine Elementary School.

Her heart ached, but she knew she couldn’t bring the quilts alone.

Lin Yiyi had been visiting Fu Ke’s place frequently over the past month, so Jian Yiluan knew her. He was curious: this woman, who trembled with fear at the sight of Qin Long, wasn’t afraid of him anymore and wanted to go with him?

It wasn’t that Lin Yiyi wasn’t afraid of him; although they saw each other often, she didn’t know him. They hadn’t spoken a word in a month.

But thinking of the children, Lin Yiyi’s fear faded.

“Why don’t you let her come?” Qin Long glanced at her. Fu Ke had mentioned that this woman had single-handedly protected a group of children at Sunshine Elementary School.

Lin Yiyi looked at Qin Long with some surprise, having never expected him to speak up for her.

“She’s a woman!” Xiao Bin said incredulously.

Qin Long looked at Xiao Bin strangely: “So what?”

Xiao Bin choked.

“Squad Leader Xiao, there are quite a few women in our team… right?” Jian Yiluan was shocked as he didn’t expect Xiao Bin to say that Lin Yiyi was a woman.

“Squad Leader Xiao, my strength has become very great after the apocalypse. I believe that many men are not as strong as me.” Lin Yiyi said seriously.

She looked delicate and weak, but she was indeed very strong. Now that she knew how to use her strength after training, she could use this great strength even better.

Although she regretted that she had no superpowers, if it weren’t for this strength, she probably wouldn’t have been able to protect those children at that time, so Lin Yiyi was still very grateful for her strength.

Xiao Bin was silent for a moment: “It’s up to you. You will probably faint and have a fever if you get caught in the rain. No one knows whether you will survive safely or turn into a zombie. Don’t blame me for not reminding you.”

Lin Yiyi slowly smiled: “Don’t worry, I know.”

Just let her come then.

“By the way, the people at the checkpoint are still there. They’re probably tired and hungry. Even if they’re unconscious, I think we should still bring them back,” Lin Yiyi said.

“Let’s get the stuff back first, and we’ll deal with the rest later.” Xiao Bin pursed his lips, feeling a deep sense of regret.

Before Zhang Zhongmin left to move the food, he’d asked him to accompany him, but he’d refused to go. So he’d gone alone, without a word.

By the time they couldn’t find him, he’d already driven the supplies over, then swiftly arranged the food, and then fainted.

No one knew about this, but Xiao Bin felt terrible. So when he saw the uncontrollable curl of Du Weiwei’s lips, his heart felt like it was in a refrigerator, aching with cold.

“Let’s go,” Xiao Bin said.

“Wait!” Lu Xun strode over, looking at them like they were idiots. “When I ask you what you’re going to do, can you please tell me? Don’t just do it without a word?”

“You want to go too?” Xiao Bin asked.

“I’m here to stop you from committing suicide,” Lu Xun said angrily. The incident with Zhang Zhongmin had already weighed on his mind, but the car wasn’t there then, so even he couldn’t do anything about it.

Now that he had a car, and with his gold-type abilities, Lu Xun could naturally avoid the rain.

He strode over and jumped into the car’s trunk. His hands, sharp claws, tore open the rear compartment and the driver’s seat, revealing a hole wide enough for a large man to pass through.

He glanced back at them, clapped his hands, and the claws vanished. “What are you looking at? Why don’t you get in? I can’t drive.”

Xiao Bin burst out laughing. “Good boy!”

He jumped up and patted Lu Xun on the shoulder. Qin Long looked at Lu Xun. Fu Ke said he had abilities too, something he’d been able to sense for a while, but he hadn’t been able to use them.

Jian Yiluan also jumped in and gave Lu Xun a thumbs-up. “Great!”

Lin Yiyi came up, a little worried, and said, “But we can’t back up to the dorms. The car can’t fit under the eaves. How are we going to get in?”

It was indeed a problem.

Lu Xun thought for a moment: “Let’s go ask Fu Ke, maybe she has a way?”

Hearing Fu Ke’s name, Qin Long looked up at Lu Xun subconsciously. He had thought of it a long time ago. Fu Ke made such a big fuss. So everyone knew that she had a secret.

But everyone in this base seemed to be tacitly aware of it.

Qin Long suddenly felt a sense of crisis. Yes, the people in the base had no ill will towards Fu Ke. Everyone seemed to be maintaining a balance, but he suddenly became a little worried. What if this balance was broken…

You know, there were always greedy people. Everyone in the base was self-disciplined under the constraints of Zhang Zhongmin. But now Zhang Zhongmin was in trouble.

Zhang Zhongmin had no special abilities, but he looked like a very strong man.

It seemed that no one in the base disobeyed him. With him, the base and Fu Ke maintained a delicate balance. Now Zhang Zhongmin was in trouble. If the rain stopped and Zhang Zhongmin didn’t wake up, will it be the same as before?

Qin Long’s aura was getting colder and colder.

“What are you thinking about?” Xiao Bin was driving, and Lin Yiyi was sitting in the passenger seat. Jian Yiluan suddenly felt cold all over and looked at Qin Long with cold eyes and asked softly.

“It’s nothing.” Qin Long said lightly.

Xiao Bin thought about it and drove out of the school.
