Tang Tang found it amusing, so she squatted down beside the two to watch. She watched as the little girl’s hands moved faster and faster until Tang Tang could barely see how she was assembling it. In less than three minutes, a bunch of very complex parts were reassembled.

Tang Tang was utterly amazed. “Nuo Nuo, you’re amazing! How come you didn’t even need to think?” This toy was brand new, bought yesterday, and the little girl had never played with it before, yet she could assemble it perfectly in such a short time. This wasn’t just about hand speed; it required a powerful brain!

She had thought Ji Xiaozhuo was already quite clever, but this little girl was just as impressive. Kids these days are truly terrifying!

Wen Nuo, praised, blushed slightly, her big eyes blinking as she stared at Tang Tang, looking both adorable and charming, making Tang Tang swoon.

Just then, Ji Yan returned home. He paused for a moment, surprised to see a little guest, but immediately recognized the girl. Without asking any questions, he walked straight to the three of them and asked, “What are you playing with?”

Tang Tang immediately handed the toy to Ji Yan. “Honey, look! Xiao Zhuo took this toy apart completely, but Nuo Nuo put it back together in three minutes! Amazing, right?”

Ji Yan looked at the complex toy with surprise, then at the little girl. He hadn’t expected such a complicated thing to be put back together in three minutes by such a young girl. Even he, who often assembled guns, might not be able to do that.

“Really amazing!” Ji Yan wasn’t just flattering the child; he was genuinely praising her. To do this required not only a strong memory but also a powerful analytical and restorative ability. Such abilities couldn’t be developed through training; they required talent, and this little girl clearly possessed extraordinary talent in this area.

Ji Yan didn’t treat this as mere childish play; he saw the girl’s remarkable abilities. Children’s abilities shouldn’t be ignored and needed to be nurtured.

After thinking for a moment, he went straight into the room and took out a model of a warship from the bookshelf. The model was very large, a full meter wide and half a meter high. Its shape and structure were no different from a real warship. The internal structure was very complex with interlocking parts. Ji Yan had spent a whole month assembling this model.

Without a word, Ji Yan started disassembling the model, startling Tang Tang. “Honey, why are you taking it apart?”

Ji Yan explained as he disassembled it, “I want Nuo Nuo to try and see if she could put it back together.”

“This…” Tang Tang thought Ji Yan was joking. This wasn’t a simple children’s toy. Could a child really assemble something so big and complex? Besides, the child had never encountered anything like this before.

Ji Xiaozhuo, however, became excited upon hearing this and reached out to pat Wen Nuo’s head. “Nuo Nuo, you have to put it together carefully, okay?”

Wen Nuo nodded obediently and then stared intently at Ji Yan’s disassembly movements. Ji Yan didn’t deliberately slow down, disassembling it at a normal pace. It took him a full half hour to finish, leaving a huge pile of parts on the floor, making Tang Tang’s eyes dizzy.

Wen Nuo, however, didn’t find the large pile of parts difficult at all. She picked up one and prepared to assemble it.

Tang Tang quickly picked up the little girl. “Nuo Nuo, we need to eat! It’ll get cold if we don’t eat now. Let’s eat first and then put the parts back together, okay?”

Wen Nuo glanced longingly at the parts on the ground, but still obediently nodded.

Tang Tang easily carried the little girl to a chair at the dining table, showing how thin the little girl was. Tang Tang lovingly served her a large bowl of rice. “Nuo Nuo, you’re too thin. You need to eat more. It’s better to be chubby like Xiao Zhuo.”

Wen Nuo glanced at Ji Xiaozhuo and thought that being chubby was indeed more attractive, so she nodded emphatically and began to eat heartily, as if eating like this would instantly make her gain weight.

Tang Tang sat down next to Ji Yan and glanced at the time. It was already 8:30. So much time had passed and no one had come looking for the little girl. Hadn’t her family noticed that she hadn’t come home?

Tang Tang felt a pang of unease and couldn’t help but ask Ji Yan, “Honey, everyone else should be home by now, right?”

Ji Yan immediately understood what Tang Tang wanted to know and pursed his lips, “Except for those on missions and those on night training.”

Tang Tang said “Oh,” glanced at the little girl eating obediently, and sighed inwardly, deciding that if no one came looking for her tonight, she would let the little girl stay overnight.

After finishing her meal, the little girl immediately ran to the pile of parts and continued assembling the warship, while Ji Yan, Ji Xiaozhuo, and Tang Tang watched her assemble it.

The little girl’s speed remained fast, picking up each part without hesitation and piecing them together; in no time, a cannon was formed. Tang Tang shook Ji Yan’s arm excitedly, “Honey, Nuo Nuo is amazing!”

Ji Yan gave a soft “Mmm,” his gaze towards Wen Nuo growing increasingly different. Watching Nuo Nuo assemble the model, he discovered that this little girl not only possessed strong restoration skills, but also seemed to have an innate sensitivity to the internal structure of objects. She might not even know what many things were, yet she could assemble them correctly based on intuition.

This was a powerful ability. If she could use this ability to assemble truly world-class warships or even other top-tier weapons in the future, the entire country would consider her a promising talent. With proper training, she might become a key protected individual, more valuable than their entire military unit.

At this moment, Ji Yan thought of the word “genius,” a word he had never used on Ji Xiaozhuo.

Just then, there was a knock on the door. Except for Wen Nuo, who was engrossed in her assembly, the entire family of three was drawn by the noise. Ji Yan pulled Tang Tang to her feet and stood up to open the door. The person outside didn’t surprise him.

“Commander Wen.”

Wen Changyi nodded to Ji Yan and explained his purpose, “Ji Yan, I’m here to pick up my daughter. I heard she was at your house.”

Ji Yan explained, “No one picked her up after school, and it was raining heavily. My wife didn’t know where you lived, so she brought her home.”

A hint of embarrassment flashed in Wen Changyi’s eyes. He had come home late that night and hadn’t seen Wen Nuo for a while, so he asked his wife and learned that Wen Nuo hadn’t come home yet. He was furious and rushed to look for her, but the kindergarten was closed, and there was no one there. He had to ask the teachers where they lived, and then he learned Wen Nuo’s whereabouts from them, which was why he came here.

He had always known that his wife didn’t like Wen Nuo because it was proof that he had given up on their love, and he was the one who was wrong first. So most of the time, he turned a blind eye. In addition, Wen Nuo’s personality was really strange and unlikable. Even he, as her father, couldn’t like her, let alone others. So he didn’t expect his wife to be too good to Wen Nuo, just enough, but that didn’t include losing her! This was, after all, his own flesh and blood.

“Thank you so much, sister-in-law. My wife is at home taking care of the child, who is still young and can’t be left alone, so she couldn’t pick Wen Nuo up from school in time. Luckily, you brought her back.”

Ji Yan didn’t comment on his words and stepped aside to let them into the house.

Wen Changyi saw Wen Nuo sitting on the carpet playing among a pile of parts, and his face immediately darkened. He shouted sternly, “Wen Nuo, why are you taking things apart again!”

This stern shout startled Wen Nuo, who was engrossed in her work. When she saw who it was, a hint of fear flashed in her eyes, and she dropped the parts in her hands.

Seeing the little girl like this, Tang Tang quickly hugged her and explained to Wen Changyi, “She didn’t take things apart randomly, we let her play with them. Don’t scold her, she’s still a child.”

Wen Changyi didn’t believe Tang Tang’s words at all and turned to Ji Yan to apologize, “I’m so sorry for causing you trouble. This girl has liked to take things apart everywhere since she was little. She’s taken everything apart in the house. I’ve disciplined her many times, but it’s no use. Now she’s finally stopped taking things apart at home, but I didn’t expect her to take things apart at your house.” Saying this, he added, “How much did she pay for the things she took apart? I’ll compensate you.”

“No need.” Ji Yan’s eyes darkened, his tone no longer as pleasant as before. “What my wife said is true. I disassembled this warship, and Wen Nuo reassembled it. There’s no need to pay any compensation, nor is there any need to scold the child.”

Wen Changyi paused, then smiled awkwardly. “Oh, I see. Thank you then. It’s getting late, I’ll take her home first.”

After saying that, Wen Changyi walked directly to Wen Nuo, picked up the little girl, and walked out. The little girl glanced reluctantly at the warship model on the ground through her father’s shoulder, finally fixing her gaze on Ji Xiaozhuo.

Ji Xiaozhuo immediately got up and followed Wen Changyi, looking up at Wen Nuo as they walked, “Nuo Nuo, be good. Go home and sleep tonight, and come play with me again tomorrow, okay?”

The little girl nodded obediently.

“Don’t worry, I’ll collect all the parts, and we’ll continue assembling when you come back.”

The little girl’s eyes brightened, and she obediently stretched out her little hand to wave goodbye to Ji Xiaozhuo.

Ji Xiaozhuo escorted them to the door, watching their figures disappear before turning back. Her little face was heavy, and she let out a deep sigh.

“What’s wrong, baby? Are you sad to part with Nuo Nuo?”

Ji Xiaozhuo shook her head, her voice muffled. “Mommy, I think Nuo Nuo’s dad treats her badly. He was even yelling at her just now. My dad definitely wouldn’t have done that.”

Tang Tang, of course, could also see that Wen Changyi didn’t love Wen Nuo very much, but she didn’t know how to say it. Whether parents love their children or not was something that couldn’t be changed by human intervention. Both were born to women they didn’t love, but Wen Changyi didn’t care much about his child, while Ji Yan loved his son to the core, even staying married for his sake.

That’s the difference between people.

Ji Xiaozhuo slowly picked up the pieces from the floor, muttering to herself, “I think Nuo Nuo is amazing. Why did her dad say she was taking things apart randomly? This isn’t random taking apart; she can put everything back together.”

Hearing this, Ji Yan patted Ji Xiaozhuo’s head. “Nuo Nuo isn’t just randomly taking things apart; she’s a genius. It’s just that her father hasn’t discovered this talent yet.”

Ji Xiaozhuo completely agreed, his mood brightening. He then asked Ji Yan, “Dad, since Nuo Nuo’s father can’t discover Nuo Nuo’s talent, why don’t we bring Nuo Nuo to our home?”

Ji Yan thwarted Ji Xiaozhuo’s idea. “But Nuo Nuo is someone else’s child. Nuo Nuo’s father won’t agree, just like I wouldn’t send you to live with someone else.”

Ji Xiaozhuo lowered his head in disappointment, then looked up again after a while and asked, “Then can I bring Nuo Nuo to build this big ship every day?”

Ji Yan nodded. “Of course you can. After Nuo Nuo finishes building it, I have even more fun things for her to build.”

“Really? I’ll tell Nuo Nuo tomorrow, she’ll be so happy.”

As Ji Xiaozhuo excitedly ran to collect the parts, Tang Tang poked Ji Yan’s arm questioningly. “Honey, don’t you think our baby is especially nice to Nuo Nuo? He doesn’t get jealous when I’m nice to Nuo Nuo, but he gets jealous even when I hug Wen Wen.”

Ji Yan paused, thinking this might involve a man’s protective instincts, even though this man was currently less than four years old.

Ji Yan coughed, “Maybe it’s because they sit at the same table and get along well.”

“That’s true, the two little ones spend so much time together, their relationship is bound to be good. Let Nuo Nuo come over for meals more often, it’s rare for the baby to have such a good friend.”

Ji Yan had no objections; having another child in the family is good, plus he wanted to see just how talented this little girl really was.

“Achoo—” Suddenly, Tang Tang sneezed loudly, immediately covering her nose.

Ji Yan frowned slightly. “What’s wrong? Have you caught a cold?”

Tang Tang shook her head. “No, no, my nose is just itchy. I’m as healthy as an ox.”

However, Tang Tang, who was as healthy as an ox, developed a high fever in the middle of the night.

The author has something to say:

A short scene thirty years later, a group of childhood friends gather. The men, drunk, childishly compare their wives.

Gu Siqi from Gu Chang’an’s family says, “My wife is a policewoman. Most men can’t beat her; their legs tremble when they see her.”

Yuan Yifeng from Yuan Lang’s family says, “What’s a policewoman? My wife is much better. She’s a top-notch psychologist. She can see right through you and has you completely under her thumb. Policewomen are useless against her.”

Zhuo Ran from Zhuo Ji’s family retorts, “None of your wives are as good as mine. My wife is the youngest female mayor in the country. She manages both the police and psychologists.”

Only Ji Zizhuo remained silent, calmly sipping his drink.) When asked why he didn’t say anything, he just shook his head, “My wife is pretty ordinary, all she can do is research nuclear weapons and aircraft carriers.”

The others, “…” really wanted to kill him.
