Nie Yu nodded vaguely, which was considered an agreement. After the two people left, he put his hands in his pockets, leaned against the wall, and glanced at Huo Lanting: “What are you doing here so late at night? Tell me, what’s your purpose?”

When he said that, his eyebrows furrowed slightly, giving him a fierce look.

Late at night, Huo Lanting, wearing a small hat, tilted his head and looked at Nie Yu. He looked like a bad guy.

Unfortunately, this scoundrel turned out to be Aunt Gu’s son.

Huo Lanting felt indignant and resentful at the thought: “I don’t want to talk to you. Where is Aunt Gu? I need to go find her!”

Nie Yu was already displeased with the arrival of this father and son, and was subconsciously on guard. Now, hearing these words, he naturally disliked them even more. He snorted and said more fiercely, “Little kid, you want to see my mother, right? Then you’ll have to get past me first. Come here, I have a few questions for you!”

Huo Lanting muttered a curse under his breath, then deliberately looked at Nie Yu curiously and asked, “Brother Nie, what’s wrong? Have you been crying? You’re so old, why are you still crying?”

Crying?

This really hit a nerve. Nie Yu glared at him and said, “Why would I cry? I’m not a little kid like you!”

He didn’t cry; he just felt a lump in his throat.

Huo Lanting blinked, looking somewhat aggrieved, and said, “Brother Nie, why are you so fierce? I’m only four years old, I’m just a little kid, why are you bullying me like this?”

Nie Yu burst out laughing: “Come on, do you think I don’t know how cowardly you are? What are you pretending for?”

But before he could finish speaking, Ji Qisen and Huo Jinchen walked over.

Nie Yu quickly swallowed back what he had been about to say, pretending to be nonchalant. It was always a little embarrassing to bully someone else’s child in front of their father.

Huo Jinchen didn’t say anything, but took Huo Lanting’s hand and said gently, “I’ll take you to see Aunt Gu.”

Huo Lanting immediately became interested and skipped after Huo Jinchen.

Ji Qisen looked at Nie Yu helplessly and raised his eyebrows: “Nie Yu, were you bullying Lan Ting just now?”

Nie Yu: “How could that be? No, no!”

Ji Qisen looked at Nie Yu in silence, pondering Huo Jinchen’s words.

Neither of them were talkative people, so there was no small talk. They went straight to the point. He asked the question he cared about most, and Huo Jinchen asked the same question.

When Ji Qisen heard Huo Jinchen mention that research institute, he understood that there was no need to wait for DNA testing; Huo Lanting was his mother’s last son, his youngest brother.

How did Ji Qisen feel after finding his mother’s last son?

He was shocked and incredulous at Nie Yu’s situation, but after accepting it, he felt more helpless. As for Luo Juntian, he initially disliked and rejected him subconsciously, but now, as time went on, he accepted him. However, he actually felt a sense of relief when it came to Huo Lanting, this little kid.

He finally found his mother’s last son.

When he recalled how Huo Lanting had cried and pretended to have a stomachache last night just to coax his mother to stay with him, he couldn’t help but find it funny, but also a little helpless.

He was still very young, and such a young child always evoked a sense of pity.

As for the person in front of him—

Ji Qisen looked up at Nie Yu and asked calmly, “Weren’t you bullying a child when you were being so mean to him?”

Nie Yu leaned against the wall, raised his eyebrows, and said innocently, “How is it fierce? I suspect him. Don’t you find it strange? They’re not related, so why would that father and son come to the hospital in the middle of the night? Besides, this matter of my brother can’t be told to just anyone!”

As he spoke, he sighed, “Honestly, why did you send them to find their mother? Do you think that was appropriate? You pride yourself on being smart, how could you not think of such a small thing?”

Ji Qisen frowned but remained silent.

Looking at Ji Qisen’s expression, Nie Yu couldn’t help but feel heartbroken: “What am I supposed to say? I’m your brother, after all. How can you side with an outsider—”

“He is also my brother.”

Ji Qisen suddenly said that.

“What?” Nie Yu thought he must be too sleepy to hear what Ji Qisen was saying.

Ji Qisen said casually, “Didn’t I tell you?”

Nie Yu: “??”

Ji Qisen let out a breath and raised his eyebrows: “Huo Lanting is Mom’s youngest son.”

Nie Yu: “What did you say?”

Seeing that Nie Yu seemed about to step forward and strangle him, Ji Qisen said calmly, “Huo Lanting is my mother’s youngest son.”

Nie Yu: “How is that possible!”

Ji Qisen said casually, “Why not? I’ve been helping my mother find her other two sons, after all, they’re my brothers too.”

Nie Yu looked at Ji Qisen in disbelief. Ji Qisen stood there, talking to him very seriously, without any hint of joking.

What did he say? He said Huo Lanting was his mother’s son and also his younger brother.

Upon hearing this news, Nie Yu couldn’t describe the feeling in his heart; he felt as if his mother and brother had been taken away in that instant.

Nie Yu frowned: “Are you serious? That brat, that little brat, is he your brother?”

Ji Qisen emphasized: “He is our younger brother.”

Nie Yu looked at Ji Qisen and remained silent for a long time.

Suddenly he felt… that he was being disliked.

Ji Qisen stepped forward, patted Nie Yu on the shoulder, and said meaningfully, “Nie Yu, I won’t tell Mom what you did wrong today, and I believe our older brother won’t tell anyone either, so don’t worry.”

Nie Yu felt a warmth in his heart. As expected of his brother: “I knew you were good to me.”

Ji Qisen changed the subject: “But don’t bully Lanting. He’s so young. If you bully him, I’ll tell Mom everything that happened today.”

Nie Yu: “…”

My heart has turned cold!

….

Huo Jinchen led his son by the hand toward the ward, but stopped halfway there.

“Dad, didn’t you say you’d take me to see Aunt Gu?” Huo Lanting looked up at his father, puzzled.

Huo Jinchen squatted down, his tall figure at eye level with his four-year-old son.

“You really like Aunt Gu, don’t you?” Huo Jinchen asked, gazing at his son.

“I don’t really like it that much!” Huo Lanting pursed his lips and looked up at the sky. “Actually, I only like it a little bit.”

Huo Jinchen didn’t say anything, but smiled.

He’s been like this since he was little, saying one thing but meaning another; he was always too embarrassed to admit what he likes.

He raised his hand and affectionately ruffled his little head: “Lanting, tell Daddy the truth, do you really like Aunt Gu as your mom?”

Huo Lanting pursed his lips and nodded very lightly, his clear, bright eyes looking left and right, but he was too embarrassed to look at his father.

Huo Jinchen: “Didn’t your father tell you that if you like something, you should say it?”

However, when Huo Lanting heard his father say that, his nose tingled, and he pouted slightly, saying, “She’s not my mother, she’s Nie Yu and Ji Qisen’s mother, what’s the use of saying anything!”

As he spoke, he looked at his father with a hint of helplessness: “Besides, you said you wouldn’t get married, so I can’t even have a stepmother!”

Hearing this, Huo Jinchen pressed his forehead against his son’s and said gently, “What if I told you that Aunt Gu is actually your mother?”

Ah?

Huo Lanting, whose forehead was touching his father’s, suddenly widened his eyes.

He looked at his father, who was so close to him, and asked, “Dad… what does this mean?”

Huo Jinchen: “I said, Aunt Gu is your mother. In terms of blood relations, Nie Yu and Ji Qisen should be considered your brothers.”

Huo Lanting’s mouth opened and wouldn’t close: “How, how is this possible?”

Huo Jinchen: “After Dad discovered this possibility, he didn’t tell you right away because he was worried about Miss Gu. Dad just talked to Ji Qisen, and he said that Miss Gu has always wanted to find you.”

Huo Lanting stared intently at his father: “Dad, you’re really not lying to me?”

Huo Jinchen: “Have I ever lied to you?”

Huo Lanting remained silent for a long time. After a while, his dark eyes suddenly lit up with a sky full of stars, and he almost jumped up: “Aunt Gu is my mother! She’s my mother! She’s actually my mother!”

Huo Jinchen smiled slightly and said, “Yes.”

Huo Lanting happily jumped into Huo Jinchen’s arms, then quickly let go of him: “I’m going to find my mother!”

After saying that, he abandoned Huo Jinchen and ran off happily.
