“Brother Tianzhi, don’t be mean to Yun Zheng. She’s probably just in a bad mood lately.” Cheng Xuening pouted, looking understanding, and deliberately moved closer to Xu Tianzhi. This was her usual tactic; every time Yun Zheng saw Xu Tianzhi being close to her, she would become heartbroken and humbly beg for her help, allowing Cheng Xuening to take advantage of Yun Zheng.

She thought this time would be the same, but after saying this, she looked at Yun Zheng and found that the other only had a cold smile on her face, without a trace of disappointment in her eyes.

It seemed that Qin Yunzheng had completely changed; even Xu Tianzhi’s intervention was useless.

Before Xu Tianzhi could speak, Yun Zheng suddenly raised her hand and slapped him. He was stunned, his eyes blazing with anger. “How dare you hit me?”

“I just wanted to know how thick-skinned you are.” Yun Zheng twisted her wrist. “Cheng Xuening, Xu Tianzhi, I know all about your shady dealings, so don’t try to put on an act here anymore. I’m not the Qin Yunzheng I used to be. I can overlook the past, but if you bother me again, I will make sure you suffer.”

Cheng Xuening and Xu Tianzhi’s expressions changed. She knew about their secret relationship; no wonder she had suddenly changed so much— it was love turned to hate.

Xu Tianzhi couldn’t accept that Yun Zheng, who loved him so much, had disappeared and wanted to say something more.

Yun Zheng said impatiently, “Get out of here now, and don’t show your face in front of me again, or I’ll beat you every time I see you.”

It was afternoon, and the golden sun shone on the girl’s face, making her skin appear delicate and firm, her eyelashes sparkling like stars, and her features clear and bright.

A flicker of jealousy flashed in Cheng Xuening’s eyes. Why was Qin Yunzheng’s life getting better and better, and her face becoming more and more beautiful, while she was struggling to even have enough to eat every day?

They were sisters, weren’t they? Her things should be shared with her!

Xu Tianzhi was also stunned, feeling as if he had missed a treasure.

“Big brother, second brother, fourth brother, help me beat them out!”

Yun Zheng had lost her patience and shouted loudly at the people inside the house.

The three brothers, who had been waiting for a chance, rushed out, each wielding a stick. Xu Tianzhi and Cheng Xuening were so frightened that they scrambled out of the house.

After getting rid of the two troublemakers, the Qin family members all smiled again. They were extremely happy. Yun Zheng had truly let go of her feelings towards Xu Tianzhi.

From now on, they wouldn’t have to consider Yun Zheng’s feelings anymore. When that scumb*g caused trouble again, they could just gang up on him and beat him up, haha.

Yun Zheng felt a strong gaze fixed on her. She turned around and saw Huo Beiyu standing not far away, glaring at her with a dark expression and a particularly resentful look, like a wife caught in the act of infidelity by her husband.

Yun Zheng’s mood was already sour, and she glared back, “What are you doing, showing off your big eyes?”

Huo Beiyu didn’t speak, but instead gave a cold snort and turned away.

Hey, he’s throwing a tantrum now. Who spoiled him?

….

Qin Shuanglu returned from somewhere, her face flushed from being well-fed. As soon as she entered the house, she smelled meat and immediately became unhappy, “Mom, you bought meat for lunch? Why didn’t you tell me beforehand?”

Qin Baishi was happy and, unusually, didn’t scold her.

“Don’t yell. There’s food left for you in the kitchen. Go get it yourself.”

She wasn’t some wicked old woman; she had given her daughter the lesson she needed to learn. She wouldn’t really starve her daughter.

Qin Shuanglu happily went to the kitchen without even saying thank you.

Qin Baishi didn’t pay any attention, humming a little tune as she went to the backyard to tend to the scallions she had planted in her private plot.

A little while later, the old lady, her face beaming with joy, called everyone together,

“Look! Ginseng has grown in our plot!”
