Qin Baishi was so angry she felt dizzy. Yun Zheng, who had come over with a kettle, quickly supported the old lady’s arm. “Grandma, calm down, have some of my fragrant tea.”

“My little girl is the most considerate, unlike that good-for-nothing Qin Shuanglu.” Qin Baishi took a sip. The fragrant tea was sweet and delicious, and it felt very comforting. She felt all the anger in her chest disappear, and her eyes crinkled with laughter.

Yun Zheng brought a porcelain cup for everyone in the family and poured a cup for each of them. No matter how much she pleaded and begged, they resolutely refused to let her work in the fields, so she could only make them feel more comfortable this way.

“The tea that Zheng’er made tastes so sweet, it makes working feel so much easier.”

Qin Gang drank three cups in one go, looking radiant and full of energy.

Qin He smiled broadly, “Yes, it’s especially refreshing, even better than sugar water.”

In the past, during busy farming seasons, everyone was exhausted, but this time, thanks to this fragrant tea, they felt no fatigue even after a day’s work.

Even Qin Lang, the weakest of them all, had a rosy complexion and was pulling weeds much faster than usual.

It was truly divine water!

Yun Zheng smiled. Of course! She had used spiritual spring water to brew this fragrant tea. Although simply adding spring water to plain water could have a strengthening effect, but that would arouse suspicion. So Yun Zheng simply made a refreshing and invigorating tea, then brewed it with spring water— the effect was even better.

Products from the space were always top-notch!

Wait a minute! This spring water is so magical; if we sprinkle some on the fields, wouldn’t it also improve the taste of the grain? After all, the flower grove in the space is growing really well!

Without hesitation, Yun Zheng quietly reached into the nearby ditch and released a small amount of spring water. Whether it would help or not, adding a little couldn’t hurt!

Perhaps it was just her imagination, but after a while, the wheat leaves and rice seedlings in the field seemed to brighten, giving the Qin family even more energy to work.

Finally, harvest day arrived, and the fields were bustling with activity as everyone took turns harvesting their grain.

Zhao Yi led his men, collecting the grain from each household. To prevent villagers from falsifying records, they verified the grain on the spot and wrote it down in a notebook before having it hauled away.

The Qin family was last in line. Although the field looked terrible— cracked from severe water shortage and withered seedlings— the Qin family still carefully cut and stored all their grain.

“Look, the Cheng family’s grain looks so good! It must be a bumper harvest!”

“That’s right, look at each rice seedling, so vibrant! The grain must be excellent.”

“The Cheng family won’t lack food for the rest of the year. Their grain is probably better than anyone else in the surrounding villages!”

Cheng Linshi said gleefully, then turned to the Qin family, adding insult to injury. “Qin family, if you ask me, all your grain is wasted. Why bother harvesting it? Just burn it all! It’ll save you trouble!”

The Qin family members looked grim. While Qin Baishi put her hands on her hips.

“You old hag, did you eat the manure you used to water the grain this morning? Your mouth stinks! My grain might be ruined because of your stench!”

Cheng Linshi glared angrily, and Zhang Li chimed in.

“Mom, you can’t say that! If the Qin family can’t pay their grain tax, they’ll definitely be fined. They’re so poor they’re practically starving. Even if they can’t eat it all, they can use it as firewood.”

Cheng Xuening covered her mouth and laughed, her eyes gleaming with pride as she looked at Yun Zheng.

“That’s right, Grandma, firewood is valuable too! Seeing how pitiful the Qin family is, why don’t we give them the straw they don’t want after they pay their grain tax?”

“You!” Qin Gang was so angry his beard almost flew off!

“What’s all the noise about? The Cheng family, come here to pay your grain tax.”

Zhao Yi walked over with a megaphone.

“Coming!”

Cheng Linshi responded cheerfully, calling to her son and daughter-in-law to break up all the grain.

However, the expected bountiful harvest didn’t arrive. The broken grains were either flat and fused to the husks, or they weren’t even formed, like broken stones.

The slap in the face came too fast, like a tornado!
