A flash of silvery light appeared, and a sofa and coffee table were added to the pile of power lines on the ground.

Luo Mi carefully sat on the sofa, watching as the illusory image of the God’s Heart sat opposite him, his silvery-white eyes falling tenderly on him, a smile playing on his lips.

Luo Mi felt a little uncomfortable and avoided God’s Heart’s gaze, asking casually, “What did you send Anos to do?”

Anos was still standing guard beside him, but after God’s Heart glanced at him, he frowned and left.

The God’s Heart replied, “I told him to prepare a place for you to stay, since he doesn’t want you to sleep on the floor on your first night in his territory.”

It’s good that Anos isn’t here. There are some things Luo Mi wanted to ask him privately: “Can you be sure how many remnant souls you have? I mean… besides the two Anos, are there any others?”

The God’s Heart laughed: “I have been in the Ark for several epochs. I don’t even know how many parts God split my remnant soul into.”

Luo Mi was somewhat disappointed, but then perked up: “Then do you know how to fuse it back?”

The God’s Heart paused for a moment, then shook his head: “If I had known, how could I have allowed the remnant souls to be repeatedly recycled and reused by God?”

Luo Mi had expected this, but still sighed, “You’re right.”

“However, perhaps someone knows.”

Luo Mi was taken aback and pressed for an answer: “Who knows?”

“You.” God’s Heart looked at Luo Mi with gentle, straightforward eyes. “There’s no reason, it’s just my feeling.”

How would I know… Luo Mi scratched his head: “I’ve been trying to figure something out, but it seems like the two of them are quite resistant to getting along.”

The God’s Heart said naturally, “Of course, I don’t like them either.”

Luo Mi looked at God’s Heart, who seemed to be the most mature of them all, and asked in surprise, “Why?”

“Who knows? My remnant souls loathe each other.” The God’s Heart shook its head. “Especially since they were able to spend so much time with you, while I could only watch from the sidelines as if I were peeping into someone else’s story, it makes me dislike them even more. If I could, I would rather devour them and take over their bodies.”

Luo Mi: “…You seem to have said something very scary.”

The God’s Heart laughed again: “Don’t take it seriously, and don’t worry. Even if there really is a war between ‘us,’ one of us will definitely be left for you.”

“That’s different!” Luo Mi retorted immediately. “Of course I hope you can be whole.”

The smile on God’s Heart’s face slowly faded, his gaze lingering on Luo Mi for a long time before he finally sighed softly, “To you, what difference does it make whether we merge or not?”

Luo Mi was taken aback.

The God’s Heart said calmly, “You are not from this world.”

Luo Mi nodded instinctively, then suddenly guessed what the other person wanted to say, and his face turned pale for a moment.

The voice of the God’s Heart was gentle and calm, “And you ultimately intend to leave, don’t you? In that case, what becomes of us won’t really affect you, will it?”

His tone contained no condemnation, but it instantly shattered the guilt and panic that Luo Mi had been trying so hard to hide.

Luo Mi clasped his hands together, instinctively clenching them, his lips turning slightly pale. After a while, he whispered, “I don’t deny it, I still want to go back. After all, that’s my home.”

The God’s Heart’s silvery gaze enveloped Luo Mi without uttering a word.

“But that doesn’t mean I don’t care about you…you all.” Luo Mi lowered his head, not letting the God’s Heart see his expression, and murmured, “It might sound a bit scummy to say that, but no matter whether I can return to my original world or not, I hope you can be safe. I may not be able to give long-term promises, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care.”

The voice of the God’s Heart rang out: “We are the same.”

Luo Mi raised his head.

“Did either of them ask you to promise the future?” God’s Heart’s tone was tinged with melancholy. “Because we don’t know if there’s a future either, so we can only make the most of the present. From that perspective, it might be a good thing that you have a place to go back to.”

Luo Mi understood the unspoken meaning behind his words.

If their attempt to survive the apocalypse fails, God will devour everyone in the world, and the souls split from the God’s Heart will naturally not have a good end; even if they do survive the apocalypse, it will only be the end of the world, and no one can predict what will happen to them once God wakes up.

Under such circumstances, their lives would have a clear end, which is why they never made any promises to Luo Mi— at this point, a promise would only become a noose around the neck of a loved one.

That’s why the God’s Heart was pleased that Luo Mi had a place to return to.

Luo Mi felt a little sad.

Not for himself, but for every Anos.

Before that, he hadn’t actually considered God’s Heart to be Anos— after all, they hadn’t known each other for very long, and the God’s Heart’s personality was clearly inconsistent with the other two.

But at this moment, Luo Mi discovered their commonality.

Luo Mi raised his head, gazing into the mercury-like pupils of the God’s Heart, and asked in a low voice, “You’ve considered me, you cherish all humanity… but what about yourself?”

The God’s Heart calmly met Luo Mi’s gaze, a slight smile curving his lips: “I am not human, but an angel created by God. If there are any unerased records within the Holy See, you will know that I am naturally indifferent to emotions. Joy, pain, longing… these are all things I have learned through imitation.”

Luo Mi clenched his fingers.

So no one has ever taught you what self-love is— you love the concept of humanity, you love me now, but you’ve never learned to love yourself?

In that instant, Luo Mi understood why every Anos rejected and loathed other remnant souls.

Because no one had ever taught him how to love himself.

On the contrary, God did not love him after creating him, but preferred God’s Wisdom; afterwards, God tore his soul apart, so that for thousands of years he was either imprisoned in the ark to observe everything in the world, or repeatedly brainwashed and used, never able to find liberation.

If God and angels are father and son, then God must be the worst father.

Luo Mi took a deep breath, about to say something, when suddenly something occurred to him, his blood ran cold for a moment, and then he raised his head with a firm look in his eyes: “Anos… shall I call you that? Is the personality you’re showing now the real you?”

The God’s Heart looked at him quietly, remained silent for a moment, and then replied, “No. I think you might like this kind of personality.”

Just as I thought… Luo Mi twitched the corner of his mouth: “You’re wrong. At any time, only your true self can attract genuine feelings. I think you don’t need to pretend in front of me.”

The smile on God’s Heart’s lips slowly faded.

He remained silent for a long time before saying, “The real me isn’t as likable as they are.”

“It’s okay.” Luo Mi found that his voice could be so gentle for the first time. “No matter what you are like, I can accept it.”

God’s Heart turned his face away slightly, avoiding Luo Mi’s gaze for the first time: “I’ve known you for less than half an hour.”

“This is Anos,” Luo Mi thought.

No matter how many different personalities he split into, he was still Anos.

He said the same thing: “I told them this before, and I can say it to you again now— in my eyes, you are all the same person, whether you are the Holy Son, the Demon, or the Angel… you are essentially you, and that will not change.”

The God’s Heart slowly turned its gaze back, silently staring at Luo Mi.

After an unknown amount of time, the gentle aura surrounding the phantom of the God’s Heart slowly crumbled, revealing his cold and indifferent inner self.

Despite no change in appearance, the remnant soul of this angel became withdrawn and indifferent, like a jagged stone covered in frost and snow placed in a corner, where even a light touch would feel sharp, cold pain.

He sat there, slowly raising his eyes to look at Luo Mi.

Luo Mi blinked, vaguely seeing a wary abandoned dog— tensely guarded around its new owner, anxiously testing the waters, ready to run away at any moment. If it sensed even a hint of disgust, it would immediately transform its disguise into armor to gain a false sense of security.

Luo Mi didn’t mean to be so rude, but a thought struck him and he blurted out, “You look a bit like a dog.”

The God’s Heart carefully observed Luo Mi’s expression, detecting not a trace of rejection. So he relaxed slightly, then frowned slightly: “A dog?”

His voice had lost its perfect gentleness and instead became a little hoarse, as if he hadn’t spoken in that voice for a long time.

“It’s just a cute metaphor.” Luo Mi looked at the God’s Heart, thought for a moment, and then stood up and sat down next to him.

The God’s Heart instinctively shifted to the side.

Luo Mi reached out and placed his hand on the phantom of the God’s Heart, making a handshake gesture, and suddenly laughed: “You’re making me think you’re afraid of me.”

The God’s Heart glanced at him, a slight smile playing on her lips, and the invisible tension slowly subsided: “No.”

Luo Mi thought he had more to say, but after waiting a while, he found he only said these two words: “The real you isn’t very talkative?”

The God’s Heart nodded, then added, “Unnecessary words.”

A bit withdrawn and socially awkward? Luo Mi made his assessment and asked curiously, “So all that talk you gave earlier was forced on you?”

The God’s Heart hummed in agreement: “It was calculated by the Ark.”

The Ark’s electronic systems calculated the lines and tone of voice for someone playing an angel, and then forced him to act that role? It feels a bit like a socially awkward person wearing a costume to be a live streamer…

Luo Mi couldn’t help but laugh at his own imagination: “It’s quite cute.”

The God’s Heart frowned at him in surprise.

He never imagined he would be associated with the word “cute”.

“I’m not lying to you,” Luo Mi said sincerely. “If we were on Earth, people who are beautiful and have a charmingly unexpected side are quite popular.”

“Earth?” the God’s Heart repeated the word. “The world you came from?”

Luo Mi then realized that he had unknowingly mentioned Earth. However, after a moment’s thought, he didn’t hide it and said frankly, “Are you interested in Earth? I can tell you about it.”

The God’s Heart paused, his cold expression softening slightly, before asking, “Did you also tell them?”

Luo Mi immediately had a sense of déjà vu and shook his head: “No, this is the first time I’ve said this.”

The God’s Heart raised its face, his silvery eyes falling on Luo Mi, conveying a silent urging that lessened his aloofness.

When competing with each other, each Anos exhibited remarkably consistent characteristics… Luo Mi found it somewhat amusing, and while maintaining the posture of holding the God’s Heart, slowly began to tell him about things on Earth.

There was no clear focus or logical structure; it was just a stream of consciousness, going off on a tangent.

But the God’s Heart didn’t care at all. It simply stayed quietly by Luo Mi’s side, watching Luo Mi’s lips move up and down. The corners of Luo Mi’s lips seemed to curve upwards slightly as well.

….

Outside the church, Anos stood at the doorway, his azure and blood-red eyes simultaneously filled with complex emotions.

After a while, he exhaled, rubbed his forehead with his fingers, and said as if to himself, “It’s okay, he’s just a phantom anyway.”

“I do have that much magnanimity.”
